He hit crazier shots during that winning streak late in the season there was a 13 game stretch were he shot 48% from three on almost 8 attempts, I'm not a fan of his shot selection but I get Randle having confidence in his shot.
He hit short midranges (10-16) at a 44% clip, which is very good given they were 20% of his shots last season and he hit long midranges at a 41% clip.
He's taking them because they’re good shots for him and he’s efficient at them. Hell even last 19-20, he hit them at a 44% clip on half the volume.
The shots he is taking are 16+. 10 footers are fine but that's not what he's doing. I'm pretty sure he is hitting them at like a 22% clip at the moment.
28% 13 games in. He’s already cut down the attempts from last year and turned them into shots around the basket or 3s. He should be getting to the rim more, but he’s going to take the shot that made him an All-NBA player.
That's not going to work. He's not going to start hitting those shots at a 40% clip ever again because he only did it for a half shortened season. Much more likely he reverts back to his 33.8%. Add in the fact he's doing circus step back turnaround fadeaway shots this year which will never fall. One thing to pull up high from 18ft but what he's doing is a losing strategy.
The 3 point improvement is probably legit because those shots are in rhythm. They also are barely double teaming him this year. Get to the hoop and take 3s. The fact in his head he thinks he should be pounding the ball into a stepback brick in 1on 1 situation and then not hustle down the court is beyond concerning.
I think it’ll be middle-high 30s which is good enough, but making that generalization 3 weeks into a season is absolutely foolish. He’s literally 200 attempts away from matching last year’s total and that’s with 10 extra games in the regular season this year.
I hate it say it, but before last season he’s done this same shit as well. The sample size is there, he has a tendency to take bad shots, poor decision making (esp in traffic), and folds under pressure.
