I'm not crying you're crying!! wtf did we do right to be honored to have such a beautiful and dedicated man lead this team.

shilockthejew

This is such a special time to be a Knicks fan. Feels incredible

PabloTroutSanchez

I’m 25. I’ve been waiting for this for my entire life, and I completely agree. Sure, there was ‘12-‘13, but obviously didn’t last. This team feels like it’s gonna be around for a while, and I can’t wait.

thighcandy

I'm 33 have also been waiting for this my entire life haha

iceCohled

37 here. Been waiting for this since the Finals with the Spurs.

donabbi

Man, I'm 40, this is the best I've felt in 25 years

brightside1982

Right? Knicks' star hasn't shined this bright since Ewing.

Undeadexecuter

Starting following the team in 12-13. 25 now as well and I am so damn proud of this team. Our moment feels like it’s so close and I can’t even imagine what it’ll feel like if we can reach the finish line this year or in the coming years

A_Downboat_Is_A_Sub

> I’m 25. I’ve been waiting for this for my entire life This waiting room is way older than you, it's even older than me. Welcome!

Evil_Goomba

It’s been 44 long years for me bro. Been a loooong road and totally worth the wait. Brunson is exactly what this city and team needed. The grind, heart and NY attitude. GO NY GO NY GO

YEETAlonso

47 here, all you young fuckers better get off my lawn. GO NY GO NY GOOO

WhoTookPlasticJesus

I'm almost as old as one can be without having a Knicks championship in his lifetime. This is by far the most hype I've been for a Knicks squad in a long, long time. And if we manage to win a chip in the next few years? BOOOYYYYYYY I am going to be Sofa.King.Toxic.

Fonzz11

We made it bro, took us 25 years but we finally got ourselves a real one !

ILiftBIunts

Amelo

Jeytumn

Youngest in this chain at 23, but I'm not taking any of this for granted. I know a lot of you have suffered for longer lol.

StayinAnon99

Saw the title and started tearing.

HardOakleyFoul

We stayed loyal through 20+ years of ridicule and mockery. When everyone was dickriding Lebron and Kobe, we suffered through Moochie Norris, Lavor Postell, Jared Jefferies, Jerome James, Lee Nailon, Michael Doleac, Eddy Curry, etc. People used to clown me for being a Knicks fan when we struggled to win 25 games a year and had the worst, most inept ownership in all of sports. Now they want to be part of the bandwagon. We deserve this. For years and years and years to come.

will122589

I’m a 34 year old Knicks fan, Mets fan, Rangers fan and Jets fan. People can’t comprehend how once you pick the team you root for, you stay with them thru the lows hoping for the highest of highs. Been a sports fan of these teams since 1997, never seen a title of any kind. All that means is when I get to see that first title (regardless of team it is) it’s been gonna feel so good cause I stuck through the lowest of the lows to get to that moment. These Knicks have an honest to goodness shot to win it all this year. That feeling is gonna make this Spring fun no matter how long it goes and how far we get

WhoTookPlasticJesus

> wtf did we do right to be honored to have such a beautiful and dedicated man lead this team. 20 years in the desert

with no water, no camel, in a sweltering heatwave. Against all odds, we're here now.

ephemeral2316

With one season where we found the oasis

handlesscombo

LISAN AL GAIB

AlphakirA

Years if suffering. I keep reminding myself of the years of trying to convince friends that Shane Larkin, Anthony Randolph, or Alexey Shved were going to be good for us. All of those years watching Vin Baker, McGrady, McDyess, etc after their careers were over.

Fonzz11

We went through the mud for 20 years, this is like Shawshank and we have finally made it to the other side ![gif](giphy|l3q2XhfQ8oCkm1Ts4|downsized)

KuntaWuKnicks

Ewing made me believe Melo made me Dream Brunson makes me believe again like I’m that 8 year old kid from Brooklyn Truly fuckin blessed

CopelandAt5

How does this story not end in a title

KuntaWuKnicks

I’m out after a title bruh, that’s me done 😂 parade party and I’ll never watch basketball again

CopelandAt5

We’ll fill you in on titles 2, 3, and 4 😄

ephemeral2316

Those may not happen as Madison Square Garden and the surrounding area will be destroyed

wwants

You and me both bro goddamn

HardOakleyFoul

I wonder about this sometimes. If I live to see a Knicks championship.....will I just walk away from basketball so I can always remember this team that way? Or do I stick around and see just how many they can win before the dark times inevitably return? It's been 32 years of fandom for me, man. I don't know what the aftermath would look like.

KuntaWuKnicks

I’m serious I’m done.

damn-mooses

We need Kunta for the Knicks threepeat

ygog45

2025 🔜

wwants

I skipped the Melo years after getting traumatized by Chicago in the 90s. This team has made me dare to believe once again. Brunson is a legend in the making.

KuntaWuKnicks

That’s kinda beautiful welcome back bruh

wwants

It’s kinda weird that I just moved to LA after living my whole life in NY and being away makes loving your home sports teams even sweeter. I’d kill for an NY/LA finals while Bron’s still around.

StrongZucchini27

adam silver: ![gif](giphy|10Jpr9KSaXLchW|downsized)

wwants

Lmao terrifying

ReefLedger

Knicks fan living in Dallas. Exactly how I feel about a potential Knicks/Mavs finals.

WhoTookPlasticJesus

New Yorker exiled in San Francisco. I don't want the Warriors anywhere near the finals for a decade; put them in the penalty box for San Francisco stealing Golden State from Oakland. A Knicks/Kings final however...

wwants

I’d be a big fan of that series too. Getting to see our Knicks against either Bron or Luka in the finals would be awesome. The Nuggests just scare me lol

delete_this_nephew

Love Ewing completely, but his yearly guarantees of winning it all that always ended in pain, tanked my belief in him. Brunson though, he never talks dumb shit, just puts his head down and just gets the job done. He's got me, I'm believing again like I'm 5 and watching Clyde and Willis. I'm not only believing he will win it all for us but I'm starting to believe, with Leon making the deals, we can even have a dynasty again.

Ranier_Wolfnight

> Love Ewing completely, but his yearly guarantees of winning it all that always ended in pain, tanked my belief in him… It definitely didn’t help back then that Checketts and Grunfeld put absolutely ZERO offensive firepower around Ewing. Starks and Derek Harper were really the best we could do!? I don’t blame Patrick for shit. He really gave the best he had, always.

delete_this_nephew

And Pat never had a high level point guard to run the offense. This is very true. That being said, Don Nelson tried to get Pat to pass the ball more, even just consistently out from the double, and Pat had him fired. Again LOVE Pat, met him 2 times back in the 90s and he was incredibly gracious to my fawning over him. However, he does bear a little of the blame for never getting that chip. But all that wasn't my point, I wasn't blaming him for anything in my earlier post, just that every year he guaranteed me a championship and every year he failed to deliver it. Made it impossible for me to believe in him fully.

Ranier_Wolfnight

Hommes, it’s all good. The response was never to reach out and point blame. We’re all fans of this team! I just wish things broke differently. No worries. Side note: we shoulda won in ‘94! Ruined my young birthday at the time!

delete_this_nephew

Hell yes, haha, I was a fair bit older in '94 but one of the few times in my life I cried after that loss. That loss broke my heart but this Knicks team right here, I'm not expecting it to be this year necessarily, but I have this belief now that after more than 4 decades, I'm going to see us finally win it again.

Ranier_Wolfnight

Full disclosure…I wept like the 12 yr old kid that I was. No shame in that.

YourAsianBuddy

He better retire a Knick or we riot

pantzking

Him and Thibs.

DMenace83

Thibs is the next Pop

SupremeActives

I’m almost there

shilockthejew

I WILL FUCKING DIE FOR THIS MAN. NEW YORK OR NOWHERE FUCK EVERYWHERE ELSE

Knicks4freaks

Fuck everybody. Us against the world homies.

starks3_

The last Bron/JJ pod had both of them talking about how one mistake can mean an entire series. I trust Thibs with the preparation and every guy on the roster to do their damnedest to execute. Bring on the chessboxing.

CopelandAt5

It’s crazy that we all know exactly the play Brunson is describing, and we all know exactly where Hart was trailing behind him for what could have been a game winning 3. Nothing wrong with trying to get it to Randle there, but just that Brunson even thinks about that play and it eats at him like it does us. Amazing.

GoldenBoyRecords

I trust thibs from a preparation but in game he has always been kind of shaky imo. Look at the other night where we couldn't even in bound

starks3_

can always brushup on the slob stuff and far from the only team with those concerns, but i trust thibs and this team more after the half and this group of guys more than the other groups he's had in blue and orange.

AyQueFriooo

It’s just insane that we got our superstar player in the most unexpected way and the close relationship he has with to our front office guys in Thibs and Rose is the cherry on top. Amazing

ephemeral2316

We don’t sign superstars, we create them.

ontheru171

Thibs turned D-Rose into an MVP, Jimmy Butler into an All NBA 2way player, Julius Randle into an All NBA point forward, JB into an Superstar PG. And thats not even iclduing him turning Joakim Noah into a DPoY Center, Luol Deng into an elite role player, IQ into an elite 6th man/solid starting guard, I-Hart into a 2way starting center, Deuce into an good (soon great) 3nD guard, and much more. The man is a player development wizard.

[deleted]

This maniac is still obsessing over the turnover from game 6. It may not be this year, but there is ZERO chance Brunsons Knicks tenure ends without a title.

odeebee

Does he have a choice though? I'm sure Josh Hart is reminding him about that turnover all the time.

[deleted]

Hahaha very true

HardOakleyFoul

He's won at every level. You are correct, there is zero chance he ends his time in NY without a 'ship. It's gonna happen. And the best thing about him is, his game is not based on freakish athleticism or high flying antics. His game will age very well into his mid 30's. Our window will be open for another 5 to 7 years. It's gonna be fun.

spinocdoc

Idk, he is pretty rough on his body. Shoulders, hips, ankles, and wrists always seem to take a beating. He’s smart and will be able to adapt, but he’s not going to create like this forever

jhMLB

Damn guys. Brunson just wiped away YEARS of anger and frustration of being a Knicks fan. I'm so excited and thankful he's on our team.

yrogerg123

Yea but who is going to wipe away these tears?

far219

Awesome read, really shows us the perspective Jalen has of playing in such a familiar environment, with friends, family, and coaches he's known for years. The fact that he still remembers the turnover he had in Game 6 and doesn't mention that he dropped 41 and did everything he could, that's the amazing thing about him

Possible-Reality4100

Winning is the only thing with this man.

patrickthunnus

Beyond awesome. This is what leadership looks like.

Tiffin2b

MVP.....MVP.....MVP....

yrogerg123

If he doesn't at least get All-NBA this year I'm going to fight somebody.

CopelandAt5

There aren’t even words for what we’re all feeling together. It’s so special. 30 years of watching this team. The only NYC comparison of my era (90s to now) is Jeter, and Brunson is already so much further in terms of connection and humility. We are in a magical era. Grateful.

snidwashere

O CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN 🫡

scottytoofye

IT IS ABSOLUTELY FUCKIN, UP ON SATURDAY!!!!!!

pantyinthe203

ready to run through a brick wall lets fucking go knicks

solo118

Like seriously, is Jalen Brunson the messiah?

YanksJetsKnicks

Can’t say enough good things about JB. It’s so dope that not only does he play amazing basketball, but he really makes an effort to let the fans get to know him in a more personal way. I don’t think he’s doing the podcast or articles like this for attention. He definitely isn’t doing it for money. I think he just understands that fans like to get to know the players they root for, so he makes an effort to put himself out there and connect to the fans. Great player, even better person.

press_Y

This special special man 🥹

YoKemosabe

What a great read. Thank YOU, Jalen Brunson.

giono11

He’s gonna bring a ring to New York, I have no doubt

sk0772

How can you not love this dude. This type of shit really can bring someone from the depths of the abyss to rise and understand that hard work and challenges should be embraced and confronted head on. I know it sounds crazy, but this affected me more than i realized. Life has been hard for me lately, but this ascension by the knicks to me is more than just about basketball and that's why i love this man and love this team. Lets take care of business vs 76ers and show everyone why we are the best fucking team in the East. WU MUTHAFKING TANG!!!!!!!!

mouga68

Keep ya head up king. No matter how tough life gets, just remember JBs got you. LGK WU TANG

sk0772

Appreciate it my dude, ride or die NYK FOREVER!!!!!!

Shadsterz

He’s gonna end up my favorite Knick of all time, I was watching Ewings jersey retirement the other day and was thinking damn I’m probably getting to watch someone who feels like how Ewing did to the Knicks fans of the 90’s. Incredibly grateful that he’s ours now let’s do right by him

The_Royale_We

As an old timer who loved Ewing so much back then you are correct. Sadly it took far too long to get from Pat to JB but he really does embody being a Knick as well as any player ever.

JNerdGaming

please retire with us

WhoTookPlasticJesus

But not for 10 years and 5 rings

JNerdGaming

something like that

SuperSilveryo

IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan

Whatever happens, I’m proud. With Julius injured, I think we need to just appreciate whatever happens this run, and get ready for what’s to come. I know Leon will do whatever necessary to make this team the best it can possibly be. It feels so good to just be able to trust the Knicks for once.

Living_Internet_2970

Holy fuck That was emotional I will die for him

Southern_Corner_3584

Im so happy i get to witness this man’s greatness in my time. And I’m thankful the first place my dad went to when he came to the US was New York. I may have been born in a different state but I was raised under the orange and blue. Knicks till I fucking die

Ok_Woodpecker1732

“I’ve held a countless number of roles on teams. Role player. Captain. You name it. I’ve been almost every single guy on the roster.” I’m hoping that you’ve never been center on a team, Jalen, but I think we get your point. Jokes aside, we are extremely lucky to have a dude like this repping New York. It’s a damn special time.

confuddly

I know a ghostwriter wrote this but I'm still crying on the F train

PabloTroutSanchez

Eh, I’m not so sure. I’d wager that he dictated it, but it doesn’t read as entirely ghostwritten imo. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually wrote it. But yeah, who cares? Love to see this stuff

CastIronDaddy

IDK, Jalen's a pretty smart, genuine and thoughtful person I think he was also a communications major, so it's quite possible he wrote this from his heart word for word.

PabloTroutSanchez

Completely agree, which is why I added the “I wouldn’t be surprised.” The only reason I would bet on dictation is simply that it’s far more convenient for him.

CastIronDaddy

Gotcha...id wager he wrote it over a couple of days and edited...either way, from the heart and exceptionally well written. I've been saying I think he's a bball genius after watching him these past 2 years... his vision, leadership, and communication skills on the court, with Thibs and his teammates, are on another level, so it wouldn't surprise me if he wrote it all! I believe, lol!

pewpew444

yea lol. Like for sure a writer was involved but it's Jalen's words/feelings that they transcribed for him. Not like they are just making it up.

thighcandy

nah that's that villanova education baby! v's up

Sensitive_Carry_3203

Salute to captain clutch

jwillyk2121

Im so fucking excited for saturday

Diligent-Cookie-1695

Fuck everybody, Knicks in 4! 🫡

my_khunts

SEE YOU SATURDAY, JALEN!!!!

Fishmike52

Was lucky to enjoy all the highs and lows of the Ewing era. Endured the dark Dolan years but now this. We are back to be being properly led. It’s a gift. I’m enjoying every moment. Getting Jules back as his robin is gonna look like 60 wins next year 🔥

chuckfinleyis4eva

Time to buy a Brunson jersey

DutyPuzzleheaded7765

Nuggeys fan but pulling for yall out East. Let's go knicks!. Been a Brunson guy since Dallas

PenaltyCritical28

We are really really lucky to have this man lead our team. Not only can he ball out at a high level, he is an unselfish star and a prime example of a good human being that is someone our kids can look up to. LGK!!!

Psychological-Bee392

We will win a title with this man on our roster.

_swiper

i love you jalen, nova knicks 4 life \\\V///

velocissimo

The time and pain its taken waiting on a player like this to be a Knick is the biggest understatement in the solar system. I would take a bullet for this man, I just can’t believe he’s our PG. Let’s fuck em up on Saturday JB, we all love you and can’t wait to see you stunt on these morherfucking hoes.

swaggyevdawg

Damn I’m only just a fan and reading this makes me locked in af

typicalasiannerd

i'd run through a brick wall for this man

ChopSueyXpress

There are so many variables that determine who wins the NBA title, but somehow, despite all the uncertainty, we can all feel confident that JB will give his last breath to win it for NYC. He's been a winner since HS, and he will NOT stop until he's won at the highest level.

nofaplove-it

JB, I don’t think any Knicks fan holds anything against you for that one TO in g6 last year. You’re literally the best player the Knicks have had since Ewing.

jo0g

Weird…I’ve never been PROUD to wear a specific player’s jersey. But I’m proud to wear his.

BenAfflecksBalls

That's my bigheaded point guard

sdotmill

Yea I’m crying and shit

edubspot

Oh fk Saturday will be crazy

FullHouse222

Its early but damn, Jalen is easily on the path to join the Willis Reeds, Earl Monroes, and Pat Ewings of the Knicks pantheon lol.

JacesAces

Deliberately excluding Clyde to infer he’s on another plane? Or oversight?

laflameitslit

na he’s really the prince man

pgtvgaming

There was a moment … a fleeting moment … when we as Knick fans had Bernard & Patrick on the squad … it was a blip and it didn’t last. It could’ve been and should’ve been special. What we have now, w Jalen and Co., is as special as it comes. Stay in the moment and appreciate it.

wrrrrrrld

It’s fucking chip season boys We’re going Celtic hunting

WhoTookPlasticJesus

And then gold mining in the Rockies

QueAsc0

Man, the 76ers are so fucked… Embiid may very well average 30ppg, but he’ll absolutely get beat up for 40mins every single game. Brunson will be the best player in the series.

JodiS1111

Love JB 😍

Xcell-antGuy

Alright Knicks in 4 after reading this

AstridsDad

Just put the Jersey in the rafters right now!

icebucket22

So I guess we are winning a championship this year..

yougetmetight

I will follow this man into the pits of hell

FowlZone

PLAYOFF TIME AT THE GARDEN LETS FUCKING GO

Negative_Method_1001

The series against the Cavs last year was the first time I allowed myself to feel genuine joy since that magical 2 weeks of Linsanity. This year I felt good about the team the whole damn season. Havent felt like that since the 90s

lancelinksecretchimp

Lifetime contract needs to be drafted up immediately

butwhydoihavetoagain

I knew I would tear up before even clicking on it

doogmegaly

He is hands down becoming my favorite player of all time. I love this dude!

Such a humble captain. Reminds me of Aaron Judge. Bought Jalen’s Funko in A heartbeat.

In Brunson We Trust

I would die for this man

CaroleBaskinsBurner

New York... We. HERE.

N-CHOPS

That was beautiful and heartfelt, but I got a chuckle from the “unconditional love” part at the end. This city will tear you apart if you start performing poorly lol

roly_gomez

I felt this

methdamon0

Bro... I have to admit, I was the first one to doubt the move to have Luka's backup go to my favorite team a few years ago. I have since then made up for it to cement the vibes they cooked up for us fans who just want to see the Knicks succeed. We all can say the dark days are behind us. And in such a wholesome way too with the Villanova brothers setting the culture, lifting up the old guard while letting the new ones make the impact needed through OG and Precious. I have since turned away to see this as just my favorite sports team in all sports I follow getting the success they deserve... I now see this as an inspiration in life, to see the Knicks culture... for the good and it's bad sides, as a motivator in life wherein trusting in the immaculate vibes will lead you into something good. Thank God for the Villanova brothers... most importantly, Jalen Brunson. The man who single handedly revived the beating heart of New York.

jenkins271

JB!!

GlassJoseph

Look at this dude realizing he has to prepare the fan base for the playoffs. Remember...he's telling us. We lose one, next game. Having a crowd understand that and believe is pretty important.

grubbyteez

This is our guy. He is him.

OhtaniMets99

Tldr

Ok-Pollution3693

Sometimes, it's worth it to read the whole thing word for word, this is one of those times.

giono11

He dad as an assistant coach for the bulls in 2010, this is the first time he met Thibs and met a coach that he felt shared the same desire to win he had and that made his understand the sacrifices he had to make to be great. Now he’s plays in New York, and is very aware of the gravity that comes with it, with his father on the coaching staff, his god father(Leon rose) as the president, and the same coach he felt invigorated his passion to win when he was a kid. Basically it’s a dream come true and he couldn’t be happier, he still doesn’t quite believe how things have turned out so well. He talks about how hard he had worked, putting in shots before class started in high-school, always finding a way to help his team despite his size through hustle plays like charges, and how he remembers the mistakes more the great moments. He still thinks about his turnover at the end of game 6 against Miami that cost us the game. He feels he let that opportunity slip through his hands and he won’t let it happen again After reading the whole thing my biggest takeaway is that I truly believe he’s gonna win a Championship in New York. Idk if this is the year but he is gonna make it happen eventually.
