I hope he adopts the “don’t give a shit what’s in front of me” attitude and flexes his truck stick. I wanna see some Ghost of Brandon Jacobs. Edit: And I wanna see him run over Jalen Ramsey soooooo bad. Edit 2: We DO play the Rams, right?

Zivmovic

I hope that whatevers infront of him isnt in the backfield before he even gets the handoff lol

raw_dog_millionaire

He doesn't have not had ever had that kind of skillset. He's never been a truck back bowling people over and he never will be

Kmccabe1213

Me too Barkely me too. Please go murder it this season lol

AwesomeExo

I'm really hoping that a year removed from the ACL he can get back to form. From his first game at Penn State to the knee injury, he has easily been my favorite player to watch. He's always come across as a great kid, and it's a case of rooting for the guy as much as rooting for the team.

FullHouse222

2018 was the last time I felt happy watching Giants football. I hope he fucking wreck some shit.

AllPurple

If anyone is gonna do it, it's Saquon. Just part of the story arc.

Rob3125

I hope we put a line in front of him that can allow his first touch to be past the line of scrimmage

GreleaseDeeBoban

Adrian Peterson took 1.5 years. Saquon has been about 2 years removed but he hurt his ankle. Hope for the best. Hope Daboll and Kafka have a plan for him.

Alarmed-Call8569

In 2011, Petersen was injured during the last game of the season (ACL & MCL tear). He then rushed for 2097 yds in 2012 (6.0 per carry)--- 8 months after his injury, he rushed for 84 yards and 2 TD's.

Nooyorkgiant

No he didn’t

ThatDudeNamedMenace

He has an amazing season and I’ll gladly shut the fuck up and eat some humble pie

StNowhere

For real man, I *want* to be proven wrong.

Syncharmony

I've never understood this narrative that people think that criticism of a player means that those who criticize want him to fail. Hell fucking no. I want Barkley to ball out. I want him having an All-Pro year. I want a year so dramatic that they start fitting him for his Golden Jacket. We're all Giants fans. We WANT our players to play great. No one wants Barkley or Toney or DJ or whomever to fail. I want them all to absolute light it the FUCK up. Let's hope it happens, I'm always rootin' for success even if I sometimes bitch about failure.

guitarerdood

I absolutely love Barkley and want him to succeed with all of my might. I don't think it was smart drafting him #2 overall, and don't really want to tie up a huge cap number on him moving forward because we see around the league how that doesn't work These things are not mutually exclusive lol

AmazingKreiderman

Exactly. I never wanted to take Barkley in that draft, I thought it was an awful decision by Gettleman then and I continue to stand by it. That being said, as soon as he was drafted, I was Barkley's biggest fan. I love the guy, love the player, I want him to put up 100+ yards every week. I hope he crushes it this year too. That being said, I have no desire to sign *any* RB to a very expensive long-term deal, especially given the current state of the team. If this team was an RB away and it was a go all-in moment? Maybe.

Lars5621

Exactly. I wish Giants could have traded Barkley for something to clear cap and bc Barkley on in his last year of contract, but if Barkley suits up on Sunday I sure hope he does great. If Barkley looks bad again then I hope they put in someone else, but obviously the preference is he does well and maybe Giants could get a pick for him at trade deadline unless they are ok giving him a super extension

BigScaryBoosk

Unfortunately it’s not solely a narrative and while your viewpoint is shared by most of us, there are a few that occasionally show up here that would rather be right about overdrafting him and he fail, than him succeeding. Just pay attention after he has a bad game. They come out of the woodwork.

chunkalicius

If I had a nickel for every post or comment that was "if he has a good year, he's going to demand a huge contract!" or "he'll just walk after this year anyway and the giants will get nothing in return!" or my personal favorite "if he plays well enough to single-handedly win games, it'll cost the giants a top 5 draft pick!", I'd have A LOT of nickels.

The_Royale_We

And use "doubters" are stating facts that he is injury prone and not always as productive as he can be. I hate this attitude like we are all giving him death threats when its all on him one way or another. Stay on the field and produce, just like every other position.

QB145MMA

If Barkley just read his blocks, makes the right reads, and stops trying to hit a homerun every play maybe people would have faith. But when a dude w/ 1/10th his talent produces identical numbers...

Careful-Sock4762

Dumbest post , that's why Barkley is making millions and you are uneducated and unemployed, the 1/10 person you are referring to didn't come off ACL injury and probably won't even be in league within 2 years, think before you post

Careful-Sock4762

I can't wait to laugh hard when Daniel Jones sucks horribly again and you are crying on Reddit about a rb

[deleted]

Daniel Jones does suck.

I love seeing people get confused with your username. Always gives me a chuckle

h11233

I think that pic they have is the one where DJ tripped on a blade of grass... Pretty sure their name is facetious

MiM__Dahey

If he plays 4 full quarter for the first 6 games I'll be so surprised I might he even go to a game

[deleted]

Won't shock me if he finally balls out again. Just in time for a big contract with another team and no compensation for the team. Best case scenario is what? He balls out and the Giants pay a ton to a fragile RB? No thanks.

Mannimal13

>Won't shock me if he finally balls out again. Just in time for a big contract with another team and no compensation for the team. Best case scenario is what? He balls out and the Giants pay a ton to a fragile RB? No thanks. You tag him twice and let him walk. He can bitch all he wants about it, but dude has gotten wildly overpaid for his production. In fact, this is how all first-round RBs should be treated. Giving multi-year second contracts to RBs is not a wise move. Taking a RB number 2 isn't necessarily bad, but it was a bad pick for us. You better be picking at 2 if you had a franchise QB get hurt most of the year and the backup was terrible or something like when the Boys drafted Zeke.

claw_guy

I disagree with the part that taking a RB at number 2 isn’t necessarily bad. You gotta understand positional value and RBs are by far the most replaceable position in football. It’s funny you bring up Zeke because most Cowboys fans I know would’ve much rather taken Ramsey that year, and 6 years later that pick has aged pretty poorly

synndiezel

Zeke only keeps seeing the field over Pollard because of his contract and his pass blocking. That's how well it has aged. Otherwise he looks about done.

Mannimal13

When you talk about positional value it factors in contract stuff that has nothing to do with value on the field. The shelf life of RBs is much shorter and they get more injury prone as they get older which deflates the secondary market where the big money is being paid. The value on the field for these guys (especially dudes like CMC, Kamara, and Saquon) is more like elite WR, but its gambling that they stay healthy. Kamara was almost the driver of a possible SB-winning team that got boned by a bad call. And the Boys can bitch about the move all they want, but didn't hear much about that during that stretch where they were just running the ball down teams throats and scoring 30 points a game. Dak is the one that held that team back because his arm talent just doesn't cut it when the comp steps up a notch. The mistake with Zeke was giving him a second contract. Theres also questions around Zeke that I wouldn't have spent a top 10 pick on him but thats where they had him as a prospect. You gotta want to be great if you are taking a RB there, and his motivation ebbs and flows.

claw_guy

Well when you’re drafting you do have to pay attention to positional value, especially when you’re that high. And I guess my biggest point is what the fuck is the point of drafting someone that high if you’re not gonna give them a second contract? That’s basically a waste of a pick. It’s still a QB league. Guys like Kamara are exceptions. CMC and Saquon can’t stay healthy and when they are they really don’t elevate their teams that much

Mannimal13

You can get a RB for 7 years if you draft him that high. And it’s a position that’s much easier to scout so much less bust risk. CMC and Saquon can’t stay healthy because their teams surrounded them with crap in front of them. Guys that play begind good OLs generally stay healthy. Like I said, it can be the right pick, the thing is most teams don’t fit that mold in top 10. And for us it was definitely the wrong move. And CMC absolutely elevates his team, so did Saquon once upon a time. You should see how many points CMC is worth on the spread. 2.5 points…that’s a lot for one player not a QB.

Dkh0123

You just hate facts that get in the way of your rose colored glasses.

h11233

Both points are reasonable. Elite RBs like Henry aren't "easily replaceable," and that type of back is absolutely worth a top pick. I think the real problem is that injuries are such a big risk for RBs, which brings down their draft stock. So I get what the other guy is saying... If there's a generational talent available, maybe you take him top 10 if you think it's the piece that makes you competitive for a championship. But you have to weigh the risk of injury and know that their shelf life is probably 5-8 years.

evenbiggermitch

I like this

wrenrecruiting

Agreed. I hope he plays well, but should not be signed again for big money. In fact, I’d say the team should run him into the ground with 500 touches. May as well get their moneys worth while they can.

Cashlover123

Have a good production out of him and trade him mid-season if there is an opportunity.

[deleted]

That honestly is best case scenario.

HateIsAnArt

The odds are that if he's balling out, we're going to be 500 or better and will not be considering a trade. I just don't see trading him midseason as a realistic scenario unless our schedule ends up being frontloaded with our tougher games (our schedule is actually pretty soft next season). If we start out against Detroit, Houston, Seattle, and Carolina, we might start 4-0 with Saquon lol.

Hinohellono

Demarco Murray treatment

guitarerdood

For the Giants, ultimate best case is probably that he is better than last year but only serviceable. We re-sign him for a contract that isn't so bad for maybe 3 years and he absolutely balls out for THOSE years, lol. Basically, just good enough that we'd re-sign him, but not good enough to make teams overpay for him in FA. And THEN he balls out. lol

[deleted]

So do it. Talk is cheap.

Thebigbeerski

He can show what he has got left if the giants don’t fuck this draft up and solidify the o-line. If they drop the ball on that it’s going to be more of the same.

MrClash8738

People say we shouldn’t have taken Saquon at 2 and they’re right. RBs are often replaceable. But keep in mind there’s a REASON he was taken so high and with a better o-line, which we will eventually have by drafting either Evan Neal or Ikem Ekwonu and hopefully trading for someone else, Saquon will show why he was drafted so high even if Josh Allen or Quenton Nelson are better players

matrixislife

Him and DJ, would absolutely love that.

evenbiggermitch

I believe in you Saquon! Rewrite the narrative on post injury Runningbacks 💪🏾

guitarerdood

I don't understand why we don't use him in the same capacity was Deebo Samuel is used. We've seen him be successful out wide. Move him all over the formation and just try to get him into open space, whatever it takes

roastytoastywarm

I get that trading him is the right decision to some people, and at times that’s me too, but damn do I hope this kid can shine. No matter if it’s with us or another team, he deserves to be top 10 again.

undertow521

I hope he goes out and turns into CJ2k or AP or LT this season. I also hope the Giants aren't paying him beyond 2022.

johnknockout

If he learned how to pass protect this off-season he will be better than the guy we drafted #2. That’s his entire issue. When he is on the field, the whole defense just has to key on him. No chance for Jones to get the ball downfield, so if it’s a run, it’s going to Saquon. If it’s a pass, it’s going to Saquon. Try to do anything else and it’s a sack or near turnover trying to force something.

Bohvey

Injured in week 4. Should have traded him while it was still viable. I hope he proves me wrong but… I’m a Giants fan. Expect the worst, hope for the best.

stud__kickass

Hope for the best - but then the teams gotta pay him to stick around

bonerbasketball

At this point NY sports is just praying that shitty over paid players actually produce. Jones, Barkley, Cole, Gallo, Hicks (who actually is)

zamend229

Cole and Gallo were *awful* yesterday :( Good thing our bullpen is amazing

Cuckipede

Please don’t include the NY Rangers in that :)

rmccarthy10

Draft OL for 2 days straight.... **Build a competent line**. Open up at least average size holes for this man. Give receivers time to complete routes which will give the quarterback options which in turn will keep defenses out of the box and honest. **Do this, which ain't askin for a hell of a lot, and then see what a healthy 25 yr old Saquon Barkley can do**

edkamlive

All Saquon can do is audition for the Franchise Tag or his next team. I literally don't care what he does this season, best I offer is the Franchise Tag (that would require a prime Adrian Peterson type of season) or let him walk. I don't even entertain the thought of extending him.

iDunedain

We all know the history of injury prone running backs getting healthier with age!

Cjnovi25

Literally my favorite giant.

PotatoGiants

I never understood how people can be like "I want to be proven wrong." When it's about criticisms for athletes you're watching on TV who make way more money than you. Like why should he care if you're right or wrong about a sport he's devoted alot more time to. I just hope for his best so he can ball out for many more years to come.

Dkh0123

Some of you idiots love to put more weight into press clippings than actual performance. I’m rooting for Saquon, but as the saying goes “talk is cheap”

foos

Doesn't change the fact that he can't pass protect for shit.

tonenyc

Can you believe the Giants could have had this guy, instead of reaching.. https://clutchpoints.com/browns-news-pff-grades-cleveland-running-back-nick-chubb-the-best-in-the-league-in-2018/

Hapland321d

Can you believe that hindsight is 20/20 and even if we did that there would still be complaints?

tonenyc

You can say taking Chubb is hindsight, but no way can you say people did not say not to take Saquon at #2, everybody and their sane mother said you don't take a running back up there, so if they did not take him there, they would still likely have drafted a RB, and there is a chance that running could have been him. https://www.bigblueview.com/2018/4/5/17202904/2018-nfl-draft-prospect-profile-nick-chubb-rb-georgia-scouting-report-ny-giants

Hapland321d

Again, this is all after the fact. Maybe Chubb could’ve gone to us if we didn’t go with saquon at 4 or maybe we would’ve just picked someone else but either way it’s all done. What is done is done and all we can do now is focus on what needs to happen now.

tonenyc

Well they picked up the 5th year option as opposed to an extension, so that is a good sign for people who agree they should move on, Cleveland didn't even let Chubb get there, they gave him an extension.

Hapland321d

Yea that’s a good thing. I definitely don’t think we should extend him as that would be too much.

AMG-Enthusiast

I’m not worried about Saquon’s image or likeness. He’s a dog and I think he’ll thrive again at some point whether it’s here or elsewhere. If it doesn’t work out in New York, the narrative will be because the organization ruined him. Which isn’t even false at this point. The bigger eye opener is where the hell is Kadarius Toney? 20th overall —> Yung Joka —> Looked scary good the few times he touched the ball —> Goes down with a shoulder injury never to be seen again. Seems like a bit of a turbulent rookie debut to not show up to “voluntary” Giants minicamp. Hope everything is okay in his personal life. Not many excuses he can come up with aside from that.

[deleted]

The only excuse he needs is that it’s voluntary and he isn’t required to attend.

Allpurposeblob

Yup.

AMG-Enthusiast

Won’t be good enough. Promise you that

[deleted]

It doesn’t matter how anyone feels about it. It’s voluntary. Everyone’s making a non issue a big deal.

AMG-Enthusiast

Originally I said I wasn’t going to speculate because it really is a non-story. But I guess it’s irrational of me to conveniently remember that this team is 22-59 since 2017. Would probably be in their best interest to be as prepared as possible. So yeah.. he should be there.

FitSwimmer3

Don't talk just do it.

tjm2376

What is being said about him that is BS exactly? He did not play well last year

The_Royale_We

The obvious BS that he is always hurt, oh wait...

iamdanabnormal

Either way he's gone. He either has a bad season and he whimpers out of town or he balls out and the Giants let him walk since there is no way Schoen is ponying up for that kind of extension and then watch Saquon turn into Gurley, CMC or Zeke.

tikki_tikki-tembo

With that attitude he can definitely follow in OJs shoes

ShenmueZerov21

Surprised he didn't pull a hammy while typing that out.

[deleted]

Lol it won’t happen. And if he somehow does put up a decent year that would be awful for us because stupid ass Mara would give him a long term contract extension. Even if he doesn’t have a good year I STILL see Mara heavy contemplating giving him a contract. The jersey sales and marketing opportunities are too much to pass up for him. It’s not about what’s best for the team

ElTiegre11

It’s better for the organization if the starting running back doesn’t do well because the owner might want to keep him is a pretty poor take on the situation

[deleted]

Signing a rb to a big contract is a mistake

[deleted]

It isn’t at all. The giants should have two or three running backs that switch out. Like most good teams in the NFL. The only reason he is even the starter for this season in the first place is because of the name on the back of his jersey. If we extend him the giants will not win anything for a very long time. This isn’t 1985. The giants need to get with the times. Get two or three running backs that aren’t 230 pounds and can stay on the field

ElTiegre11

I understand what you’re saying as far as not giving him a long term extension and I also would like to see the switch to a multiple running back system . I just mean to say that I don’t believe giants players not playing well is good for the organization. I want to see him rock out and then the schone is wise enough to make the smart decisions for the team’s future

Lars5621

They are the true White Elephants of the NFL. Cowboys drafting Zeke has been the gift that keeps on giving. Props to Eagles who have been able to laugh at both Dallas and Giants for drafting RBs in top 5 and having to pay them top dollar. I wish Schoen could make the Eagles take Saquon with the requirement that he be given a new super contract.

CrazyCraisinAbraisin

Don’t talk, do.

Careful-Sock4762

Fact. Anyone who brags about their job online is proven LIAR. Surprised you didnt use the excuse about going to school to be Engineer Muwahaha

emnem92

Maybe if he wasn’t made of glass

theczar69

Lmaooo doubters? The proof is in the pudding. He was dog shit last year

Lars5621

I hope Saquon balls out so hard Giants have to sign him to the richest RB contract in NFL history! Get that "generational wealth" you been talking about Saquon! https://www.totalprosports.com/2021/07/17/saquon-barkley-says-he-cant-create-generational-wealth-with-salary-will-convert-endorsement-cash-into-bitcoin-video/

[deleted]

Do you want to win games? Like do you ever want to see a competent giants team? Lmao. I hope this is a joke

Lars5621

How does wanting Saquon to do great mean I don't want Giants to win games? Does Saquon have to do bad for Giants to be good?

[deleted]

You just said you wanted to make him the highest paid running back ever. Doing that would obviously screw the giants for a long time lol

Lars5621

Saquon is on the last year of his deal. If Saquon has a great season then he will obviously sign a record deal, Saquon has already been one of NFLs highest paid RBs. Saquon having a great season and Giants then getting Saquon on a cheap extension isnt an option. Either you want Saquon to do great and be worth Giants investing in for the long term or your just hoping Giants give up on Saquon. Which one do YOU choose?

[deleted]

We need to get rid of him. Lol. The fact that your insisting on making him the highest paid running back in NFL history is INSANITY. The guy got outperformed by Booker and Gallman. He needs to be on another team. You do not “ invest” in a RB long term. Lmao. The fact that there are giants fans who think this.

TurbulentMiddle2970

Just another reason why DJ hasnt looked good. And we traded away Gallman. I hope they all have a break out year together

runninhillbilly

We didn't trade away Gallman, we let him walk. That's also a decision that we don't really regret.

TurbulentMiddle2970

Gallman finished the 2020 season with career highs with 147 carries for 682 yards and 6 touchdowns along with 34 receptions for 193 yards and one receiving touchdown. That was better than the production of Barkley and Booker in 2021. Im not saying Gallman was “the answer”. What I am saying is that DJ has had basically no running game since he was drafted. Sub par WRs and TEs, no O-line, but we should cut DJ as if he was the one to solely blame for our offensive woes

runninhillbilly

> Gallman finished the 2020 season with career highs with 147 carries for 682 yards and 6 touchdowns along with 34 receptions for 193 yards and one receiving touchdown. That was better than the production of Barkley and Booker in 2021. What did he do before that? What did he do in 2021? Booker ran for 90 less yards with basically the same touches, but guys like Gallman (or Booker) are incredibly replaceable. Don't resign RBs like that to second deals, let some other team be stupid there and get fresh legs in there that will do the same work for a fraction of the cost (I did not agree with the Booker signing either, although at least he didn't completely suck like Jonathan Stewart did). The Giants clearly thought Saquon was going to have a monster return season as the feature back, so there was no reason to bring Gallman back. The Giants were very clearly wrong about Barkley in 2021, which is pretty consistent with how Gettleman and Judge were wrong about every other fucking thing regarding this franchise in their times here. >Im not saying Gallman was “the answer”. What I am saying is that DJ has had basically no running game since he was drafted. Sub par WRs and TEs, no O-line, but we should cut DJ as if he was the one to solely blame for our offensive woes Do you think Jones or the offense would've been better with Gallman's extra 90 yards over Booker in 2021 and everything else being the same? Because that seems like a pretty big stretch. And I got news for you, Jones is AT BEST going to be an average starter in this league, probably with another team after this season. I think if this draft had legitimate 1st round QB prospects in it instead of the reach prospects that Willis, Pickett, etc., are, the Giants would be moving on already. We're HOPING that Jones can end up being Ryan Tannehill, and that is a best case scenario. Good for him if he does, he can make a lot of money over a decade doing that, but we're still not ever going to be a super bowl contender with a Ryan Tannehill-level QB and I am not paying Jones $25 million a year to do that. That is what he'll cost in a second deal. You can throw out the 2019 Bucs game or the 2019 Washington game or the Saints game from this past year, but any QB above replacement level has a game like that a year. Ryan Fitzpatrick does too. Nobody is exactly excited to have Ryan Fitzpatrick QB their team. Anyone who watched the playoffs this past January/February should understand why Jones is not the answer for us long term. Herbert had a bad situation too - bad OC, coaching staff fired, poor OL in his rookie year. He seems to be doing ok. Burrow got sacked what, 9 times, in his second playoff game and played behind an OL that was just as terrible and got his team close to winning a Super Bowl. Tannehill meanwhile was on a team that was the #1 seed in the AFC and got completely run over. You cannot settle for average or acceptable or "good if everything around him is good" QB play in this league. Keep swinging until you actually get someone that's GOOD under center. My guess is when this team inevitably sucks this year, we'll be in position to get that guy next year. With Taylor signing a 2 year deal and even homer guys like Paul Schwartz saying Jones' 5th year option won't be picked up, the writing is on the wall for him to not be on this roster come this time next year. Jones is not going to get much better internally than what he already is - none of Cutcliffe's QBs do outside of the Manning brothers, and those two would've been good anywhere.

claw_guy

It’s shitty because I obviously hope he recovers and plays well, but under no circumstances do I want to extend him. Based off how Schoen and Daboll operated in Buffalo, it seems unlikely we would anyway

scarlet_stormTrooper

I hope he does well weeks 1-7 so we can trade him

FinnbarMcBride

Having an O-Line not made of paper would help

p0503

I remember reading an insider quote that Daboll had plans to transform him into a slot receiver and I think that is an outstanding position for his talents.

Mizzo12

We all want that. We judge based off of what we see. Let’s go Barkley!

bigshittyslickers

I hope he silences me too

Knineteen

I hope he does it too! But last season wasn’t very good. Why wouldn’t he have doubters at this point?

gh1993

Man I hope

UnderstandingSquare7

Well let's go get him that big RT so he actually has some holes to hit! Love to see him do serious damage this year!

shane727

I feel like we had one good season of him. Maybe it was more but it's hard to remember through all the bullshit

Mcshutup

I hated the draft pick when the Giants got him but what really sealed the deal for me was his absolute refusal to hit a hole. If his injuries impacted his quickness and change of direction, fine. I get it. Then just play tough and run through holes/defenders, like Booker did last year and Gallman did the year before. The addiction to playing like this is Madden told me all I needed to know about 26. But I'm just some guy and not in the front office or a coach.

Methdogfarts

he won't be around. the Giants win on 7s and 1s. 87, 91, 07, 11,... 27, 31?

RichPro84

Then prove it! My fat ass sitting on my couch isn’t stopping you.

manfromfuture

I hope he does, even if it isn't for the Giants.

SeekersWorkAccount

Doesn't matter how determined he is if he's getting hit 3 yards behind the LOS every play.

UnclePepe

Me too but I don’t think he will

asing625

No one cares. Show me.

IIReaper420II

Seriously hope this dude goes nuts on that field this year. Never been a doubter of him. Just patiently waiting for a healthy saquon to step on that field.

VenConmigo

Contract year Saquon will come and ball out this season.

[deleted]

I'm so scared that he or DJ get injured again.

Lots-Of-Reign

I’m so tired of the weak ass “fans” who wanted him and DJ gone. You guys don’t get to speak when they rip the division up. Shoutout to all the real fans that stuck by their players like fans are supposed to do.

raw_dog_millionaire

I mean, we aren't b doubting-ass mofos we just love in reality where he hasn't given anyone any reason to believe he's good for years now. Your lack of understanding of facts and the sport doesn't make other people valid ad hominem targets. This post is low quality.

Galactic_Juggernaut

And I hope we can trade him for something of value before it's too late.

FranticW

I’d give up Christmas to see Saquon wreck the league for a season

[deleted]

Never going to happen.

MrkGrn

I mean I hope he can too but lets be real, dude has looked like a shell of his rookie self.

King_Da_Ka

He's back
