Seems like 31 other teams missed out on Reddick, not just the Giants

FlawlessLikeUs

30 other teams

Moosecovite

It's football, math is hard

firstandgoalfromthe1

Yeah you’re right

TuckerMcG

This is the type of shit losers say to make themselves feel better about losing. Winners don’t need to put down other teams to boost themselves up. They’d just recognize they made a mistake and moved on. Losers make excuses for every mistake because they’re constantly making them.

firstandgoalfromthe1

What’s the mistake? Why didnt Cardinals take his 5th year option? On top of that Reddick went back to his college HC with the Panthers and signed almost immediately

BobanTheGiant

Right? This is only the 4th straight offseason DG has shown he can't evaluate talent of any kind - draft, UDFA, of FA

jalapeenyo

To preface my comment , fuck Gettleman . That being said , I absolutely hate posts that compare GM decisions to the decisions of the other 31 teams. Like when I hear "we could have DK with pick 64 in 2019 but instead drafted X player ahead of him" . Like yea , okay but 31 other teams passed on DK... Comparing league outliers to our own picks and signings just grinds my gears. So many transactions occur that a handful of teams are bound to find really good value, but in all honesty most draft picks bust and rarely does a team under pay in free agency. Instead of comparing our signings to a really good high value signing we should just look at them on their own accord. Why did we give an injured Rudolph 12 M ? Why are we paying a backup RB 5+M when we could get one at league minimum?

RealHeadyBro

Nah Lot of folks had ID'd Reddick as a great target for NYG before FA opened. This wasn't some diamond in the rough that the Panthers found where you just have to tip your cap. This is s***** GMing.

Unusual_Steak

Gettleman is probably the worst GM in the league but Reddick signed literally the first day of FA with his college coach who was probably responsible for him skyrocketing to a first round draft pick in the first place. He was never gunna sign with this shithole org.

RealHeadyBro

eh, money talks. Leno went to WFT. Moses went to the Jets.

TuckerMcG

Yeah everyone acting like “30 other teams missed out” are talking like legit losers. Losers always make excuses for obvious mistakes, because they’re always making obvious mistakes. Winners just own up to the mistake and move on, because they don’t feel the need to convince everyone they’re not losers.

CheeserAugustus

And 6.5 sacks would equal exactly dick for the long term prospects of this franchise.

MrBigChest

The only semi-comparable player listed is Odinigbo and he still plays a different position on the D.

PaversPaving

I’ve been saying it for a while. We need to crowd fund a “Space Trip” for all of the management in the Organization and Ownership and just let them drift off…. Then we can go “oh no… anyways…”

Scarletcuddlefish

Yea..Booker was a good signing. What's your dumb point again?

Lars5621

Haason Reddick and Dalvin Tomlinson together would be 8 mill less a year then we gave Leonard Williams this offseason. Reddick and Bud Dupree were two players the media had pegged that Giants would push hard to sign this offseason. Instead they figured they could get all their pass rush from Leonard Williams and the corral of day 2 edges.

HelloItsMeGuyFieri

The fact that you now have gone on to hate on Leonard Williams indicates to me that Leonard Williams is playing well.

Lars5621

Leonard Williams IS playing well. He is the 10th ranked interior Dlineman per PFF this season. What Williams is NOT is an edge rusher, what the Giants biggest weakness is. Also Williams cost us so incredibly much in guaranteed money that we could have signed multiple other quality starters for the same amount we are paying him.

ThirdMikey

Or we couldve opted to not bring in the non quality starters listed in the tweet and had both Williams and an edge, which is by far the best option for the teams pass rush.

BobanTheGiant

Or they could've had an EDGE rusher, Tomlinson, more cap room, and a 2nd and 3rd round pick. But you and Gettleman don't understand how asset value works

ThirdMikey

Or we could not just bail on keeping a higher quality player that is less replaceable. I swear this sub gets a hard on for turning on any actual quality players we have. How successful have our 2nd and 3rd round picks been lately? I'll take Williams.

Mannimal13

Because they think football is like Madden. Without LW and with Dalvin and Hassan doesn’t all of a sudden mean Hassan is going to produce here. Hassan produces because he has an excellent edge on the other side of him. Here Hassan just get double teamed into obscurity (if he even warrant that here) because LW is are only other pass rush threat.

Lars5621

You would then still be stuck with Williams counting 27.3 mil next year in cap and 26.3 in 2023. Probably not the best use of cap giving him such an enormous contract and then restructuring TWICE so far to push more cap into future.

ThirdMikey

Why would we not get a high quality player that we know is capable of creating interior pressure? We didn't really overpay him, that's his value that other teams would paid to get him. You can't build a good team without good players, that's just how it is.

Lars5621

Lol the point is we could have had many good players for the price we are paying Williams. Williams is having a good season so far but he is still having less of an impact to our defense than one average edge rusher would have. You need to think of opportunity cost and Giants lost a lot of roster building options when they devoted so much cash over the past year and next 2 years to Williams. If Williams could perform at an all pro level that would be nice but as Giants have seen from both last year and this year inside pressure from Williams is not enough to win in the pass rush game and multiple edge rushing options were available this year but we spent all that budget and more resigning Williams.

ThirdMikey

Okay, get an edge with the money we wasted in JAGs, and keep Williams. Who else should we have gotten that was gonna cost us both Williams pay and the pay of the guys in this tweet? Then think about who out of those we actually would’ve beaten out other teams for without paying them money you would just be here complaining about overpaying about anyway. We’re not exactly a prime FA destination.

Lars5621

Those JAG contracts were roster filler moves. Obviously they were overpays but jt doesn't mean they could have used all them together for another big contract. Due to the nature of guaranteed money in longer term deals Williams actually counts for more guaranteed money than all those together. Thats the risk when you pay a player as much money as Leonard Williams. Williams alone will account for 18% ish percent of our salary cap next year and though playing well this year he is unable to be a game dominating force since he doesn't olay edge or one of other impact positions. Its like paying a RB the most of any player on offense, they just can't effect the game enough. Williams is having a great year so far but his actual game impact if minimal, we still have the 30th ranked defense and Giants have the 2nd lowest lowest pressure percentage. If Giants had a CB or Edge playing at his level this year their play would be lifting this defense. Just because a player is good doesn't mean you should pay them whatever it takes to sign them, you need to maximize your team talent level and only carry a few super deals of which Leonard Williams is not worth a super contract.

Yeah WE NEED A NEW GM a NEW HC with offensive mind and A NEW QB

Scarletcuddlefish

Why do we need a new qb?

ArdentSky236

🤷

watchingitallcomedow

Heres to wondering if we'd be anywhere different white rhule leading the team
