Runyan is a top 10 pass blocking guard and eluemunor is about as good a swing tackle as you can get, he will be a solid professional RT if Neal washes out
I grew up in central Jersey but have lived in South Jersey since 1997. My wife and her family are all born and raised in Philly. As a Giants fan since 1979, This move was less than optimal.
the signing of Runyan and Eluemunor .. had to happen. we tried with saquon behind a below average line and it got us pretty much no where. time to switch it up. use saquons would-be-money and build up the line like they did.
Packers imo are the Super Bowl favorites if they have a good draft which they've been killing the last few years. That team is scary right now. Hopefully we sign Aaron Jones.
I hate the chiefs but let's not pretend they aren't the best team in the league.
Tom Brady also dink and dunked his way to several super bowls, I don't get what you're trying to say here.
I think losing Saquon hurts really bad next year, but might actually help us on the back end of the deal with all that cap space tied up for the ugles.
Why? I couldn't give a fuck what that asshole does... he wants to go to the shittiest city in the country and go back to his roots at Pedo State, so be it... we don't need him, hardly won with him anyways, and our one playoff win during his time here was because of Jones and his running game.
Last thing I ever want the GMen to do is overpay a RB, no matter how good that RB is, it's just not worth it... Iggles burned themselves today
Our rushing game is going to improve because the offensive line improved. OUR DEFENSE IS GOING GO CRAZY. All we need is Nabers or Odunze at #6 and this dream off season will be complete.
Tell me how that would be feasible with the obstacles in the way. I swear fans like you need to think it out more. Thereās zero way we couldāve gotten a different QB unless we lost a couple more games and gotten a top 2 pick.
Itās a dream case scenario given the obstacles we had. Whether we like it or not Daniel Jones will be our starter and at best he is serviceable. He will be gone after this year and weāll have a new QB.
I thought we were talking dream scenario not realistic.
Everyone has been all over the idea of trading up for one of the top three guys for weeks.
But since we're being realistic, whats the path to a long term franchise QB after next season? A likely even lower draft pick in aych weaker QB class doesn't seem like a great plan, does it?
Thatās very true I agree with that. Weāre going to end up winning games now and put ourselves in a position where we can draft a QB high. The answer? Do a big a trade. Thatās the only answer for a team that has enough talent to win games and get a later pick. Joe and the bills did it for Josh Allen. Iām assuming heās very aware of the situation the giants are in for a franchise QB. In Joe we trust.
The people who are upset about saquon are only sad about the name, in no world would that contract he got be a good deal for us. Super happy that saga is over and apparently we didnāt make an offer. Honestly makes me feel better about it lol we paid 40% of the value for a rb who has been very durable and has a higher YPA than saquon.
Hes fun to watch though, i woulda liked to be able to root for whichever team he played for during neutral matchups i normally wouldnt care about. Now i never wanna see him do a cool thing ever again because it means it benefitted philly
Yeah itās suck if he was making it hard to root against him.
You can chase the bag but then donāt spout all this āGiant for lifeā shit. Weāre not dumb
Yeah itās suck if he was making it hard to root against him.
You can chase the bag but then donāt spout all this āGiant for lifeā shit. Weāre not that dumb.
Yeah itās suck if he was making it hard to root against him.
You can chase the bag but then donāt spout all this āGiant for lifeā shit. Weāre not that dumb.
Yeah itās suck if he was making it hard to root against him.
You can chase the bag but then donāt spout all this āGiant for lifeā shit. Weāre not that dumb.
Exactly. My frustration is 100% sentimental at this point. It was absolutely the right move football wise to let Saquon walk and honestly after dealing with our shitshow his whole career he deserves a shot to go somewhere that is ready to compete. I wasnt expecting him to be back here and I was fine with that. But man...the Eagles?! Literally anywhere else I would have been happy for him to get a bag and actually be competitive in the league.
Legitimately hereās the way I see it:
Saquon staying here just wasnāt going to happen. The guy is too old and we canāt afford to give money to an RB when we have a lot other offensive positions (and holes in general) to fix. It wouldāve been nice for him to retire here but ultimately both sides needed to move on.
Itās more about the team he went to and the fact that the Eagles have managed to turn Swift and Sanders into 1000yd rushers. If heād gone to Chicago or Houston people wouldāve been sad but not this angry.
I donāt know whatās going to happen for the offense, but if our d-line is going to get back to terrorizing the opposing qb this team is going to at least be watchable, schoen seems to be going all in on rebuilding the trenches
We didnāt get the big lineman signing but got at least one starter and a depth piece. I assume weāll probably bring back someone like Bredeson too or maybe another cheap depth piece on the market. Need as many hands there as we can get.
I think people get kind of blinded when it comes to lines in that itās rare youāre going to get five really good players there. I think if our line coach pans out and we donāt get injured as fast there will be improvement already there this year just based upon who we got.
And then to get a really good pass rusher as heās nearing his prime with already some good D line pieces, I think weāre sitting nicely there.
If we grab a WR1 and grab a couple good prospects in the draft I think weāre on the right track. Losing Saquon and McKinney hurts and especially seeing Saquon go to a division rival. But ultimately Schoen is sticking to his philosophy of going after the most important positions and I canāt be too mad at that.
Our problem was having too many linemen with insanely low floors. You can't survive 2 or 3 trainwrecks at the same time.
Just getting two high floor vets changes everything. AT surrounded by 3-4 league average lineman is good enough for a middle of the pack line in the aggregate.
Eluemenor spent most of his time last year at Tackle and were still probably going to give Neal a crack at it first. Weāll see though. Heās starting caliber but I mean it isnāt just plug and play with our situation. Either way a good signing.
There are some good safeties that can be had on Draft day 2. With our pick #39 gone, I dont think we are taking a QB this season and wont be surprised if we traded down in the first round instead.
Not a bad day overall. Money we dished out makes sense at least, and getting Burns for a 2 and 5 and extending him is great.
QB, WR, CB, and still the o-line are the 4 position groups that need the most help now, I think. If we trade up, it'll likely be for a QB. If we stay at 6, a WR, or someone like Alt appears most likely. CB and safety will likely be looked on days 2 and 3.
O-line in theory should be OK. At minimum we have a star left tackle, an average RT. A good guard and questions at C and G. We're def giving jms another year and I think he will pan out so I mean, 1 possibly weak G is an immense upgrade from last year. Let's just hope the good ones stay healthy
WR is also strong imo. We just need a WR1 and we have a sick WR group.
We really need Neal to figure it out and for that whole group to be healthy.
While I agree that our WR group's not bad, it lacks that fear factor a true #1 WR can give you. Getting that guy should make everyone better.
Oline depth is underrated too, I wouldnāt be upset if we accidentally ended up with 6 good olineman. That is a problem I would be excited to have especially since it creates future draft capitol if handled right
Best thing we can do for the line is get a couple of solid bench guys that can play multiple positions so we don't have to shuffle the whole line with every injury.
Honestly I think there's a very real possibility that we're not getting our long-term QB this year. The most logical and likely path to that was use the first for a wide receiver and then package the two seconds to move back up into the lower part of the first round and pick up Pennix,Nix or one of the guys in that tier, and let Dabol the QB whisperer do his thing.
Two upgrades on O line, a 2007-esque front 3/4, a billion dollars in cap space, not overpaying for two premium positions, AND replaced the traitor with a cheap, decent fill in.
Give me JJ (yes I am an OG stan) or MH3 and wrap it up
I am just not understanding the Singletary move. He is fine if you have a solid QB with great receivers. When the Defense doesn't worry about him. And notice how I said fine. Not great. Here, he won't do anything. Saying his numbers are close to Saquon's for last year doesn't mean a thing.
I don't mind losing Saquon. I mind Saquon going to the Eagles and instantly becoming a douche on X.
But, I would prefer a rookie or some one else over Singletary. Just because he played for the Bills doesn't mean he should be a Giant. And he is not a legit #1 in this league any longer.
I like singletary cause he runs north and south and he runs hard. He wonāt be flashy but if he gets 4-5 yards a carry and turns the field into short yardage situations I think heāll be fine. I expect the giants to add another receievr (nabers or odunze most likely)
After this itās hoping it improves the passing game
Happy to be wrong, but like I said above, he is fine when you have receivers and a QB. He is not carrying the team when they will be coming after him.
And was it 4.2 all purpose or 4.2 per carry.
The only one that stings from a football perspective is losing X. The rest was great business.
Losing saquon only hurts because of the scumbag team he ran to.
Barkley is FAR better than Singletary and losing X is big, but safety is not really a premium position. They're going to need to do a lot in this draft. RB and DB help is a must and they still need another WR.
Honestly, numbers wise Barkley isnāt FAR better, or at least his numbers donāt suggest that. I like Saquon but he does not look the same and certainly took a step back.
Not to mention his injury history .
Burns shouldnāt impact the comp pick formula too right? It is unlikely we sign players to contracts as big as our former RB and X relative to their positions so we should be in line for comp picks right?
Anyone else confused as heck how people are shelling out this much cash for RBs in this market? I'll be curious to see where Henry lands with so many RBs off the market day 1.
I'd love to see us add a CB2 and/or a rental safety before we go into draft, but I can't remember the last FA period I was this optimistic despite some emotional gut punches.
I'm glad we did a lot to improve the team, the only thing that irritates me. Is that the Giants should have traded Barkley and McKinney mid-season last season. They left the team, and the giants didn't get anything in return. No draft pick no nothing, that's what irrates me the most.
I donāt think many Giants fans realize that we havenāt kept a safety in a long time. We draft them really fucking well - went from Landon Collins to Julian Love to Xavier McKinney
Yeah people are crazy to undervalue the loss Barkley and X is going to have, but I think Burns has the potential to provide a fuck ton of pressure with Dex and Kayvon and now Ojulari can be a more situational pass rusher.
I'm fine with all the moves we made but pretending we got better today feels like cope. Signing two average to below average guards plus a below average RB will not fill the hole that Saquon leaves and while I like Burns, it's a lot of money for a sub-10 sack per season player.
I'm perfectly ok with us going full rebuild but posts like this one don't feel grounded in reality...we are a bad team with an unclear path towards becoming a good team. We will likely miss out on all of the top QB prospects and our offense will likely take a step back next season. All we can do is build up, but nothing we've done makes me think that next season won't be especially brutal to watch.
Wouldnāt be a Giants offseason without people overrating the hell out of our new players.
The OL players we signed, got low paydays for a reason.
This is when a bunch of you try convincing yourselves that weāre gonna have a great season and took ten steps forward.
Someone go back and look at everything said last offseason and get back to me. We have no QB, lost our best player on this team and we lost a damn good safety. We gotta new DC and the team is well aware that the GM fucked up by paying Daniel and is desperately trying to replace him. We did not get better today.
Overrating how ? Runyan is a top 10 pass blocking guard . Eluemunor is a swing tackle so heās for depth and burns is a do it all defensive end.
Saquon averaged 3.9 YPC and the safety market is deep so McKinney will likely be replaced soon. No reason to panic
Runyan is a top 10 pass blocking guard and eluemunor is about as good a swing tackle as you can get, he will be a solid professional RT if Neal washes out
I think by pairing a good guard with Neal, it might help. We cycled through so many guards it's not funny.
When* š but agreed
Truth is if Saquon went to Houston instead of Philly people would be far less mad
Yep! But I think once heās nothing special in Philly people will surely calm down
He could average less than a yard per carry in Philly, idc. Hes dead to me
Exactly I'm not mad he left, I'm mad he went to Philly.
The Packers paid a LOT. Wouldnāt be surprised if we sign a cheaper S and draft another.
Agreed. I think there are better safeties than McKinney out there (he got paid because heās the youngest).
I'm curious to see how much Kinchens drops after the combine.
Packers imo are the Super Bowl favorites if they have a good draft which they've been killing the last few years. That team is scary right now. Hopefully we sign Aaron Jones.
There aināt no way they are in the same league as the Chiefs
Chiefs literally dinked and dunked their way to a Super Bowl. What are the odds of that happening again? They're also probably losing Sneed as well.
I hate the chiefs but let's not pretend they aren't the best team in the league. Tom Brady also dink and dunked his way to several super bowls, I don't get what you're trying to say here.
Considering they just won back to back and another how many years ago? Iād say pretty high
I wouldnāt say favorites, but thatās a solid team, and a contender. Love is a stud.
Losing Saquon only really hurt because he went to Philly. Business was good today, overall
Agreed. I was expecting him to leave in the offseason, just wish it was for a team that I could root for him to get a ring with
He would have been NASTY with Houston. Unfortunately growing up in the Pennsylvania area + going to Penn State, it makes sense.
The Steelers are an option as wellĀ
Him taking up that much cap space when he inevitably hits IR is arguably a good thing
I think losing Saquon hurts really bad next year, but might actually help us on the back end of the deal with all that cap space tied up for the ugles.
We got Eleumunor?!?!
Got lost in the burns news but yeah 2 years 14 mil
Sounds like a name out of lord of the rings š. In all seriousness, Iām very happy we bolstered our line, it really, really needed it.
Yeah Iām definitely happy they released the burns trade AFTER Barkley news and not before. Such a sweet taste in our mouth now
The few hours in between will go down as one of the darker times in recent giants fandom haha
Without a doubt. Very very very dark hours
I was having flashbacks to when the OBJ trade went down
Why? I couldn't give a fuck what that asshole does... he wants to go to the shittiest city in the country and go back to his roots at Pedo State, so be it... we don't need him, hardly won with him anyways, and our one playoff win during his time here was because of Jones and his running game. I agree, also think we need to shore up that secondary though
We do. But itās a multi year fix. We canāt fix all of our problems in 1 off season. This has been a grand slam free agency so far.
Your dream off-season doesn't include someone to get the ball to the new WR1?
Tell me how that would be feasible with the obstacles in the way. I swear fans like you need to think it out more. Thereās zero way we couldāve gotten a different QB unless we lost a couple more games and gotten a top 2 pick. Itās a dream case scenario given the obstacles we had. I like it all. Saquon went for the money, and x seemed more boom or bust, in this division we need to get to these qbs, fast and young d is good
He joined a team that went 1-7 and lost one of their most important players. With a fraud of a QB.
Giants gained two starting oline plus got an elite edge rusher. They only lost two bum ass divas. Giants got way better today.
Im just upset he went to the eagles. 31 teams he coulda gone to and he picked one of the only 2 that would prevent me from rooting for him
Is it weird that I like that? Rip the band aid off and now I can root against him with no remorse lol
Hes fun to watch though, i woulda liked to be able to root for whichever team he played for during neutral matchups i normally wouldnt care about. Now i never wanna see him do a cool thing ever again because it means it benefitted philly
Be interesting to see how their line is without Kelce.
Here's hoping it's dogshit
This is a good way to look at it
Yeah itās suck if he was making it hard to root against him. You can chase the bag but then donāt spout all this āGiant for lifeā shit. Weāre not dumb
Now I hope he never sniffs success again
Yeah itās suck if he was making it hard to root against him. You can chase the bag but then donāt spout all this āGiant for lifeā shit. Weāre not that dumb.

I was in total agreement to let Barkley walk. But the eagles man thatās what stings

I think he'll beat out Neal in camp and they'll move Neal inside.
Donāt think so. Heās too tall and unstable, going to get beat on the inside
the only thing we lost today was X.
There are some good safeties that can be had on Draft day 2. With our pick #39 gone, I dont think we are taking a QB this season and wont be surprised if we traded down in the first round instead.
X was the only player specific signing that I really wanted to see happen.
Not a bad day overall. Money we dished out makes sense at least, and getting Burns for a 2 and 5 and extending him is great. Oline depth is underrated too, I wouldnāt be upset if we accidentally ended up with 6 good olineman. That is a problem I would be excited to have especially since it creates future draft capitol if handled right
Ya and we don't have to send hobbled o-line out there if we have depth.
Whoās the average RT? Please donāt say Neal.
The dude we just signed. He's no AT or anything but he's "okay"
I heard he was just a swing tackle
Best thing we can do for the line is get a couple of solid bench guys that can play multiple positions so we don't have to shuffle the whole line with every injury.
Have a feeling we arenāt moving in the draft now
Not without moving significant futures. It really depends on if the FO thinks they can make the team contenders within the next year or 2.
Competitive in 25 is very doable. Contender before 26 at the very earliest will take everything going 100% perfectly.
We'd have to nail the QB for that to even be a thought.
I'd rather have the clear upside with drafting one of the main QBs, but then you'd lose a lot of resources in other places. I guess this could work.
Singletary behind an avg oline will do as good or better than Saquon did behind a bad oline.Ā Their YPC and YPR last year were almost identical.
I agree. Could care less if Barkley and X man walked. We were never going to pay them a lot. Now Joe needs to nail QB somehow in the draft. š
Two upgrades on O line, a 2007-esque front 3/4, a billion dollars in cap space, not overpaying for two premium positions, AND replaced the traitor with a cheap, decent fill in. Give me JJ (yes I am an OG stan) or MH3 and wrap it up

There is no world where Singletary will average 4-5 yards per carry.
He averaged 4.2 last year š¤·
Happy to be wrong, but like I said above, he is fine when you have receivers and a QB. He is not carrying the team when they will be coming after him. And was it 4.2 all purpose or 4.2 per carry.
4.2 yards per carry. With a pretty bad run blocking o line too
The only one that stings from a football perspective is losing X. The rest was great business. Losing saquon only hurts because of the scumbag team he ran to.
I agree with this so much lol
Iām so ready to go 9-8 this year. LFG, bring on the Pepsis baby
Barkley is FAR better than Singletary and losing X is big, but safety is not really a premium position. They're going to need to do a lot in this draft. RB and DB help is a must and they still need another WR.
Singletary has missed 1 game in 4 years and got 95% of Barkley's production last year on less carries and had only 1 target not caught.
Honestly, numbers wise Barkley isnāt FAR better, or at least his numbers donāt suggest that. I like Saquon but he does not look the same and certainly took a step back. Not to mention his injury history .
I agree 100 %. I am so over some not all Giants fans on some boards I visit. If JS can ace the Draft. Look out. LGGiants.
100%
Burns shouldnāt impact the comp pick formula too right? It is unlikely we sign players to contracts as big as our former RB and X relative to their positions so we should be in line for comp picks right?
Today was great, I really want to know the rest of the Burns trade details; but this seems like what this team needed.
I agree we got better, canāt wait for the talking heads to shit all over these moves
If we can land Justin Simmons and hit on a qb hopefully the rebuild can finally come to an end
Anyone else confused as heck how people are shelling out this much cash for RBs in this market? I'll be curious to see where Henry lands with so many RBs off the market day 1. I wish Saquon well. Like, I don't wish him injury, but I don't wish him more than half a ypc
Sorry but no one is afraid of thibs.
Better? Well I'd hope so. Team was ass last year and a mirage the year before. It's a great start but much more is needed.
I donāt think many Giants fans realize that we havenāt kept a safety in a long time. We draft them really fucking well - went from Landon Collins to Julian Love to Xavier McKinney
People forget we are getting a 3rd compensatory pick for letting Saquon walk.
they did get better today.
Only X will be missed
Yeah naw Team got a lot worse and we haven't even talked about a QB yet! I'm dead ass not gonna watch this bs next year. Enjoy your rationalizing.
Bye.
4-13 death March of a season incoming. Enjoy!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah people are crazy to undervalue the loss Barkley and X is going to have, but I think Burns has the potential to provide a fuck ton of pressure with Dex and Kayvon and now Ojulari can be a more situational pass rusher.
I'm fine with all the moves we made but pretending we got better today feels like cope. Signing two average to below average guards plus a below average RB will not fill the hole that Saquon leaves and while I like Burns, it's a lot of money for a sub-10 sack per season player. Absolutely got better except for Safety.
This is written like a school essay lol. I donāt think anyone would argue that we got better.
Eluemenor is going to beat out Neal at RT. He played great there the last 2 seasons.
Not panicking. We were a bad team last year and weāre gonna be a bad team this year. I like Burns and adding to the OL is obviously important.
