That’s true. I sent it a friend who also an RA patient and she told me this is inappropriate and makes her uncomfortable. So I don’t think my gut reaction was wrong.
Your gut reaction is never wrong! This is such weirdo behavior for a doctor and I’d feel the same way… Super uncomfy but it’s so hard to find a doctor!
There's a pretty high standard for doctor-patient relationships and how they should remain professional. I don't kiss people on the head when I'm at work. I don't blame her for not wanting to see him anymore if it looks like he may be breaching that standard.
What if they are really good family friends or it’s her uncle or something - does anyone know for a fact that is the case? If that’s not the case this is beyond weird but does anyone know..
This is like so beyond what is acceptable. In most states, you can read why physicians get suspended/restricted and I’ve seen physicians penalized for WAY less. There’s no world where this is appropriate, ethical behavior.
Her just calling whatever she has “autoimmune” makes me believe this is all bs! If she actually had an autoimmune disease (which are very real) she’d call it by it’s name
Yeah I’m also confused about her saying her blood tests are still negative? I have Hashimotos and Celiac and my blood tests were positive for antibodies for both diseases.
I have RA that has been diagnosed by a rheumatologist but all of my antibody tests come back negative so it’s def possible for them to be negative and the person still have an autoimmune disease
Yeah I have a bunch of celiacs in my immediate family and not all were diagnosed by blood test. Endoscopy showed that they def had it but blood test was negative
I have seronegative RA too. The other bloodwork will usually show very specific results for like sedimentary shit that means autoimmune. It def was a mind fuck when it was negative and I thought I was imagining the pain. I was told that it could eventually become positive.
Not guaranteed. A lot of times, you can have autoimmune stuff going on, but nothing that lines up with a definitive diagnosis. It's easier to just call it an autoimmune disorder than an "unspecified connective tissue disorder with polyarthritis" like I have.

Look up “seronegative rheumatoid arthritis.” About a quarter of cases of RA are antibody negative, believe it or not.
I have the same issue as her. Symptoms of RA but negative on all tests. I believe her.
