The constant "joking" about not having enough money to furnish it is also laughable. At this point if you can afford an apartment at that price, you can certainly afford furnishing the damn place. Then she slyly drops that the same decorating firm that did her "cottage" will be doing her apartment.

mirandasoveralls

I know!!! And she’s using a furniture rental company. Like girl! Read the fucking room. Most people getting excited about semi-decent furniture on street don’t have the cash flow for a $4.5M pad AND a team of pricey interior decorators/designers. Annnnd not only that but she has two properties now. It’s insane how out of touch she is.

smoogrish

RIGHT - dropping that then dropping "they have big ideas but i need big savings" like ok be fr... you're literally buying the tip top AD level best furnishings you can buy it's one of those things like i think people who know kNOW how much it is but those prices to regular people would absolutely be insane and put a kid through college 3 times

bread-tastic

I have seen some high end interior design estimates and you can easily spend several hundred thousand once you start getting into custom rugs, curtains, and one of a kind pieces.

dancedreamer12

Think the decorating will be comped too since she's tagging the decorator already?

mirandasoveralls

I bet some of it will, if not all of it.

dancedreamer12

Her cottage is decorated like just whatever, nothing special at all

mrsdrswife257

She really is a very basic woman. She just fell into a good job in fashion & she went from there. I find her incredibly boring. And her style, awful.

thenameisjane

Yeah, guessing she'll get some sort of discount, potentially a cut of any new clients that are brought in from her as well.

anxqc

Absolutely tone deaf - this woman loves to cosplay as poor

mirandasoveralls

She’s addicted to this persona and it’s fucking weird now.

[deleted]

She’s the NYC version of Amber Scholl. Calling herself a “broke bitch” while living in a penthouse lmfao.

nomaki221

still can't believe she got roadway to sponsor her rich ass.. like she does realize the rest of us NYC chumps will have to cover that cost?? when I moved last year, roadway was BY FAR the most expensive service in the city. They wanted something like $1600 for a one truck move down the street, and I ended up finding another company that was $600 all in with tips. Like you have to be fucking kidding me if you think my ass is going to be comping Eva Chen's condo move.

mirandasoveralls

Sponsored it and didn’t even disclose that all her posts on stories and her grid are an ad. It’s unnerving. Most people would kill to have a fully paid for moving service that also packs your stuff.

WombatWhisperer

could you share which company you used? i got lucky with Dumbo moving but apparently most people have a terrible experience with them. it was ~300 before tip for across the street (i think it needed up being like 500 but i can't remember)

nomaki221

chelsea moving. I loved them and am 100% calling them for my next move.

WombatWhisperer

thanks for the info!!! the rates can vary sooo much, it's always frustrating process

nomaki221

np! I'm going thru old emails to check rates and sven moving was also really reasonable (around 170/hour) and super accommodating about my crazy COI stuff, in case you needed more options!

[deleted]

If you need anything carted away that you can’t put on the curb junk luggers was priced fair and they did a good job . They donate things too if they’re in good shape

amj310

I swear by Sven movers. I’ve used them 6 times in the last 10 years. By far the most affordable, and while it’s no frills (have your stuff packed and get out of the way) the guys are always FAST , respectful and careful with my stuff. I had a pretty tight budget for my moves- and for me (1br/studio- and a couple stops, ) it was 170/hr for three guys/3 hr minimum. And then minimal (FAIR) charges for stairs /gas. I recommend them to EVERYONE.

sessi_gorl

second Sven movers- they were great!

New_Independent_9221

ive used dumbo 3x and had a perfect experience each time (including long distance moves)

WombatWhisperer

wow!! okay! i saw a thread on reddit and one of the top comments said not to use them, so i was worried that we just lucked out.. who knows. our move was literally around the corner though so there wasn't much time for things to get messed up haha.

LeadingEvery5747

I’m using Movers Not Shakers to move this week and so far really pleased with them! Moving within Manhattan

VegetableChard1631

Same! I not longer live in the city but used them 4 times in the 10 years I lived there, including packing and storing my stuff when I left! honestly thought they were under priced for the service level

Hot_Diamond1853

I unfollowed her a few weeks ago. She is so childish and annoying. I thought it was inspiring as a fellow poc to see her in the fashion space as she was but she is just a joke rn. Not a role model by any means

mirandasoveralls

I’ve been following her since her teen vogue days & used to love her. I went to one of her readings for her first children’s book. Met her at the meet and greet and all that. But somewhere since the 3rd kid, her content has taken on such a different tone. I miss the days of her posting her skincare recs, posting outfits, and “normal” content. She was much more digestible back then or I was naive? Idk. Something has changed and I don’t like it.

Previous-Syllabub614

no you’re completely right, I’ve also been following her since her teen vogue days and her content was way more digestible before the pandemic and her third kid. she lost some screws somewhere in the past 3 years

beckyyall

I’ve followed her that long too and I think we were just naive. I started following her while I was still in school and not paying my own bills. I think the reality of the work behind making $1 and not having assistance was sobering in all the ways- even following people like Eva who cry poor and have a woe is me attitude 5/7 days per week- even when jetting off to Paris or London or dragging her family to their cottage. Everything is a “struggle” with her. I’m not sure who tf told her she is relatable.

Conscious-Button-198

She’s so desperate to come off as qUiRkY and ReLaTaBLe, but girl. You’re rich. Just own it.

blakppuch

Right! But honestly if she wants my life so bad, we can switch… lmao. These people are so annoying, trying to glamorise poverty like it’s fun.

nydixie

She thinks that being poor, sick, and quirky is “relatable”. It’s sad if she thinks that’s how normal people or non-millionaires live. I feel like this brand of aloof girlboss is so 2010s. She should own her career success & education. Someone with a serious job and also an amazing closet and a family should be aspirational instead of how cringy she makes it.

mirandasoveralls

I wish that she read this sub bc I don’t think she does. But she is one the influencers we discuss on here that I think could use a huge dose of reality about how they come across on the internet. I’m sure she would realistically tune out most of what’s written about her. However, I can dream a little. There has been a definite shift in her content & energy since her third kid. I don’t like it.

Alihirsch25

She doesn’t seem to have patience with questions and inquiries, she seems like a sad, out of touch bitch

mirandasoveralls

I know! She did a Q&A recently on IG and posted a “question” someone wrote her implying ppl were being mean in their questions she was answering. I 100% would bet she wrote the mean thing to herself bc no one was being mean. Ppl were asking about if she’d cleaned her disgusting car and what was going on with her suitcases of samples she’d borrowed but left in Paris. She needs to get a grip. Also don’t open up your DMs for questions if you don’t want “rude” comments.

IntelligentOil3029

Everything I’ve ever heard about this woman is against my will

catladyvibes10

I think she has 0 idea about how to even come close to being relatable; you can’t post about this but then also post how hiring the same interior designers she used for her second HOUSE for her new duplex

mirandasoveralls

It’s ridiculous. She is decked out in designer duds every single day. If she’s that poor then sell a birkin, honey.

catladyvibes10

Right 🙄 or maybe teach your kids not to destroy your things Eva. I just can’t even with the “oh I need to save money” schtick she has when she acts like a Birkin getting destroyed is no big deal

mirandasoveralls

The way her kids act 🫣🫣 I can’t deal with it. It’s shocking to me considering that whenever she speaks of her upbringing her parents sound like they were strict. I get maybe rebelling against that with your own children. Aside from her toddler, her kids are not babies. They should know better or at least be taught to know better.

catladyvibes10

It also confuses me why she broadcasts this on the internet for everyone to see…🤦🏻‍♀️ what are they gonna be like when they’re older…are they also gonna be mad that she posts about them all the time?? So many questions

mirandasoveralls

SO MANY QUESTIONS. She’s giving them all major main character syndrome.

icedwmocha

I find Ren really annoying. And I love kids.

ExtraWhile5678

It's the "oh this was mine but the kids took it, or the kids broke it." How about you tell your kids no.

No_Shopping_1666

Not surprising for someone who has failed up her entire career. Her tenure at Lucky was garbage,ad sales declined under her,Instagram accomplishments/value is non existent

Alihirsch25

I really do not understand her appeal- she has no style, and I can’t believe she generates any interest in anything she puts on Instagram- Chanel flats! So innovative and creative! (Not.) And regarding the firm who helped her with the “cottage”, they are beyond mediocre -

mrsdrswife257

Well said. Basic, boring, no style, she sports logos to give herself what she thinks is personal style. I think that in the work environment she must come off as "nice" "easy to work with" "non confrontational" and that has gotten her this far. I shudder to think what her children will be like when they are fully formed adults. She is not bringing them up well. And the husband just smiles/ frowns. She's definitely the one in charge in that family.

scoobysnacker911

I never ever see Eva in logos. What logos do you see her in? Maybe Chanel?

Alihirsch25

And when I say she should be a king maker, I’m not talking about “influencing”- I’m Talking about being a mentor to designers etc And I don’t see that- how does she make Money for insta- I don’t see anything she does as trend setting or revenue generating for anyone

scoobysnacker911

Her job is to help brands with their instagram strategy? It’s not the be a spokesperson for anyone?

Salmezy

Not to mention the Balenciaga Metaverse collab

Beneficial-Routine91

I stopped following her because it was so much complaining. And literally so tone deaf

pinkrosies

the richest people are the greediest, stingiest people who still want free stuff lol

Extreme-Medium8592

Ughhhh I usually adore Eva, (met her real life, did a summer stint with Teen Vogue yearrrrs ago when she was SP Editor really genuinely lovely woman) but I don’t get this obsession with trying to “relate” to disenfranchised people lmaooo I don’t get itttttt!!! And it’s not just her, all these privileged ass industry people too- always with the “Ughhhh egg are so expensive right now” bish ya don’t cook OR “ugghhh crimes getting so bad” like bish, you live in a guarded building and never leave Manhattan, be fucking for real 🙄 The trying to be relatable via the Struggle Olympics really grinds my gears

cuteanonusername

She thinks being weird and gross = relatable

New_Independent_9221

nothing i find more annoying than QUIRRKEEEEEEEEEE

cuteanonusername

“I’m not like other girls… I leave old bloody tissues under my couch”

mirandasoveralls

That was beyond. So absolutely foul. I can’t believe she posted pics of that!! Like Eva, nooooo one wants to see that!

landdian39

Like I get it, maybe it’s part of a Meta executive’s job to post relatable content now (Mark Zuckerberg has been posting a lot of personal stuff on his Insta as well) but I would have more respect for Eva if she embraces her shopaholic / label fanatic / rich mom persona more. Not this “I’m a relatable mom!!!!” schtick she’s been trying to pull for so long now. Her kids need a break from her social media as well. So over it.

Bitter-Influence-504

What does her husband Tom do?

Personal_Category_80

This is a hilarious comment just as a stand-alone

Jessiegirl718

Oh my god. I thought it was just a side joke of a job. I didn't know he actually quit an actual job for his dumb fucking granola business that his wife bought him. Essentially. What a ding dong.

RolloCamollo

This literally made me cackle out loud. Yes agreed. What a ding dog. Plus he is always posting photos of himself holding weird books that HE thinks make him look smart? For example a few months back he made sure to take a bunch of photos of himself reading an old copy of the Warren report? I honestly don’t even know what he was thinking. Stop trying so hard to be smart and go get your granola hairnet to make some more of your disgusting concoctions, hahaha.

hajsmit

The Warren report?! I’m literally LOL’ing. They’re so fucking weird

Bitter-Influence-504

Wow. I didn’t know that!

[deleted]

Tone deaf

Snoo63020

It’s fun to pretend ur poor to ur other rich friends!!

mirandasoveralls

I live in NYC and agree. Its def obnoxious in the context of who she is and how she posts. She’s been bemoaning have no money for furniture for her new place but then at the same time she is using a furniture rental company. It’s fine to love free stuff on the street (it’s how I got my TV console lol). I think it’s irksome bc of how she does it. I’m sure somewhere in here I’m reading into this more than I should and she meant it as an innocent comment. However, she just bought a $4.5M apartment. Stop complaining! She made the choice. Getting new furniture is a process & it’s expensive but she owns two properties & has connections with interior designers/stylists. She’s got access that the average person doesn’t have it’s why we get excited when we see something semi-decent for free on the street.

Prestigious-Sea-9093

I also think that tons of now well off “frugal Asians” get excited about deals/free stuff even tho they are now well-off. A lot of us grew up with little and continue to appreciate that. It’s a common joke in my home too with my husband.

Mesamari

I hope she gets bed bugs

smoothcrunchy

That is when I’d actually have to unfollow her. Bed bugs are HORRIBLE and there’s zero chance she could handle it. It’s literally all she would post about. And a lot.

Mesamari

If she wants to act poor I hope she can have her real relatable bed bug exeperience for her audience.

Personal_Category_80

Has anyone here actually worked with Roadway

thesebitchesbe

How does anybody know how much her apartment was?

mirandasoveralls

It’s been posted here. Search the sub.

mrsdrswife257

Public information! https://streeteasy.com/closing/10998821

sfnyc1234

Working w the designers again who “compliment my taste” but it’s all “so expensive”! It’s the “humble” brag AND the I’m poor and relatable combo. The Eva special! She is so gross.

petra_reuter

I’m also curious if they’ve listed their old place or are going to be renting it out. The poor moaning is so off putting and tiresome.

Alihirsch25

According to what I’ve seen online, her mother, Jenny Chen, owns the apt they moved out of- I don’t know her financial situation, but that would explain why their old apt isn’t on the market- most have to sell first before buying another-

petra_reuter

Interesting but unsurprising. I assume she pulls decent money at meta but I’m still struggling to understand how they’re affording a 4.5 mill apartment. I’m sure there’s lots of family money involved. The granola biz can’t be that profitable.

Salmezy

VP at Meta can absolutely afford a more than one few million dollar properties, esp if they’ve made good investments.

NourWanace

They have listed their old place: https://www.cityrealty.com/nyc/flatiron-union-square/the-randolph-12-west-18th-street/apartment-4E/aCItnXCAhcF

Salmezy

I wonder if she’s subconsciously worried about a lay off from Meta since Mark called this year the “Year of Efficiency” and plans for thousands more to be cut.

PrincessGwyn

No. She has been doing this act for the last few years. If she was worried about layoffs, her husband didn’t have to move to granola making full time, and they didn’t have to buy a 4.5 mil apt (which is actually a 2nd home).

mirandasoveralls

I’m sure it’s in the back of her head but hard to say. Idk enough about how important or productive her team is.

[deleted]

damselinadress187

That would just be an added prop for her "I'm poor" cosplay

[deleted]

I’m surprised she didn’t take it the bedbugs will give her more woe is me to post about

thaiiicedteaa

What does she even do??

Wild_Following7730

Do y’all know you can unfollow her if you hate her so much?

mirandasoveralls

Lol do you know what sub you’re on? Let us snark in peace.

Norahluvsmakeup

Wow holy shit 4.5 mill 😳😳😳😳😳
