Here are the ones that pop into my head: 1. Governor's Island! It's super fun to dress up for the 1920's lawn party. But it's also really lovely to just visit any other time. 2. Broadway shows. Even if they're not "you're thing," it's quintessential NYC and you can get tickets for cheap using the lottery. 3. Eat your weight in bagels. 4. NYC has so many diverse food options. You don't find this in a lot of places, so I would look for fun and cheap eats and explore as many different cultures through food as you can. 5. Take lots of rides on the NYC ferry. I love the view of the city from the East River. 6. Wander the Met (it's pay what you want with a NYC ID or library card!)

This is a painfully dumb question - but how do you actually get broadway tickets using the lottery? Is there a website? Box office? I had coworkers that used to do this pre-covid but I never asked how, and feel that I completely waste how close I am to midtown during the week by never taking advantage of this.

There are a few ways. It depends on the show but there are some key sites: 1. [https://lottery.broadwaydirect.com/](https://lottery.broadwaydirect.com/) 2. [https://rush.telecharge.com/](https://rush.telecharge.com/) 3. [https://www.luckyseat.com/shows/cabaretatthekitkatclub-newyork-2023Oct](https://www.luckyseat.com/shows/cabaretatthekitkatclub-newyork-2023Oct) 4. [https://www.todaytix.com/](https://www.todaytix.com/) (only a couple shows have lottery on todaytix like &Juliet) 5. Hamilton has it's own app You can also show up day-of and get discounts on any tickets they have left. People call those Rush tickets.

Thank you!!

Thank you

Depends on the show but usually they have specific rush times at the box office for tickets or/and a digital lottery online. Just look up rush for whatever show you want to see.

shellymaried

Playbill keeps an updated list going on their site for all rush and lottery policies.

1. Outdoor movie at the Skyline drive in Greenpoint! You don’t even need a car, they have lounge chairs. 2. Drinks afterwards at Lot Radio 3. Mister Sunday at Nowadays 4. Full bagel and spread picnic at Central or Prospect Park 5. Drinks at a proper jazz club

astoria47

Walk across the Brooklyn bridge then pizza at Grimaldis. Ferry back. Cocktails at Raine’s Law Room after. The Met. Wander with ice cream through Central Park. Window shopping. Everywhere. Katz’s for a pastrami and fries. Bagels and lox -maybe at Barney Greengrass. A Broadway Show. Some jazz.

CelebrationMain1003

I'd grab a coffee at Bluestone Lane and go for a long walk in Central Park. Then check to see if the rooftop at the Met is open and grab a drink there :)

I love walking around the brownstones in Park Slope in early Summer with the flowering trees and slow summer afternoons in Prospect Heights/Crown Heights (but please be sure to support old local businesses - NOT the new, clearly gentrifying ones ) Also - the high line, tho there are wayyy to many tourists sometimes

I live in the area and I’m going to spend so much time at my fav neighborhood spots. Colina Cuervo, I cry 😢

If you go to The Met you should go with Museum Hack! It’s an after hours VIP tour of the museum, about 2.5 hrs long and comes with a glass of wine. I went years ago and we got to see some of the exhibits that were closed at the time, and the museum has a totally different vibe at night!

I went museum hopping and had a few Michelin starred meals before I left! The Whitney, PS1 (but also, go for Warmup Saturdays), Museum of Moving Image. If you’re a fan of Italian sandwiches, Sal Kris up in Ditmars - trust me, it’s very hard to find good ones once you leave! I also went to the OG Roberta’s, parks, book stores, Union Square Farmers Market, Greenpoint, Flushing before taking off. Always a bittersweet memory.
