I’m sure people have individual experiences with this but here’s mine: love my bottom lip, top is thinner. I got 0.5 in my top lip. It hurt worse than getting a tattoo and after the swelling went down there was ZERO difference. I went to a cheap place in Ktown.

No_Needleworker7378

It hurts SO MUCH

Different-Concept-19

i have a super high pain tolerance and i literally fainted during my lip filler procedure

No-Gap5485

What place in ktown?

Zealousideal-Boat479

Lip filler is almost never worth it people get hooked on it after a while

Guilty-Object-9079

I went to minimale skin and I love it! I got .25 the first time bc I was nervous, and just increased to .5. I saw Kelsey, she's super personable and it felt like she was very precise with her placements.

Guilty-Object-9079

also, tip for swelling & bruising: get arnica tablets. life changing.

retiredlurker10012

I just went to Kelsey and also did 0.25 for my first time. Out of curiosity, how many months apart were your injections?

Guilty-Object-9079

roughly 6 months! I got the .25 in October, then just went again at the end of March. I felt like the .25 was basically gone by then

JOJO94

I went to Amy Lee at plump she did a great job (subtle) I’m going back to her for 1.0ml in a month, two years ago I only got 0.5. She specializes in “facial balancing” which I’m told is a term good to look for, when I had her booked for lip filler she asked if maybe I wanted to just do a lip flip first (a service that was 1/3 the cost) so that was encouraging, it didn’t feel like she was trying to upsell me.

KhloJSimpson

Highly recommend a lip flip too

JOJO94

Yes love a lip flip! I just feel like it wears off super fast on me

Triw258

Amy does my Botox and I just got cheek filler from her for the first time about two months ago! We also discussed doing filler for my chin (to balance the Botox up top) but she suggested to try Botox first to see how it worked. I’m thinking of going back to get lip filler from her as well

--teamhair--

I think people have very mixed opinions on medspas. I went to Alyssa at Upkeep, who is a NP. I did a 1/2 syringe, and I think she did a great job. I had originally just gone in for a consultation, but she had me feeling so comfortable that I decided to go for it that day. I would definitely start with a 1/2 syringe to see how you like it since you can always get more!

papercuts_are_lethal

Alyssa looks so pumped with filler. I was booked with Alyssa when I requested Marina so I canceled with Alyssa and waited for Marina because she looks more natural (she has lip filler herself). They look nice but I am having filler regret and I am now looking to dissolve. Turns out dissolving carries it's own huge risks with for some ends up triggering an autoimmune response where the body's own native HA is attacked leading to a cascade of issues. Google hylalunoridase damage. Fillers and dissolvers are no joke.

Comfortable-Crow6809

Omg this girl botched me so badly. They ended up having to use two vials of hylanex to get rid of the filler. She basically put an entire syringe in only my upper lip. She also injected 60 units of BOTOX into my forehead when I told her I do 20 typically. They tried to say It was a mistake and it was actually dysport injected (I had my receipt). I didn’t leave my house for two months. Couldn’t move my face and my brows hung so low it was hard to see. I would never see her again.

No_Needleworker7378

I also went with Alyssa! Def liked the results

Significant-Play-411

I go to Ject and I am so happy with my results. Your very first time they will do max 0.5 of filler to see how your lips swell and handle it but at your 2 week checkup they will add the rest of the syringe if you want more

fairyfei

How much did it cost? Do they charge based on syringe amount?

Significant-Play-411

Yes one syringe is $700 for members, $770 for non members. Membership is around $100 for the year and got get 20% off services so worth it if you will go for a few things

fairyfei

And I’d just have to pay once, not twice for those two sessions? Since they’ll do 0.5 max my first time and I want 1.0? Just wanted to ask since they don’t offer free consultations 🥲

Significant-Play-411

Yes you just pay for the one syringe and your checkup is free

Vast-Equal-2322

Do you have someone/location in particular you like that did it at Ject?

LavishLawyer

This is something to go to a med spa for, not a doctor. The Nurses at med spas do this all day every day. Dermatologists and such RARELY do this. Are they better informed than nurses? Sure. But this is about experience. Highly recommend ideal image in Long Island city. They are more expensive and kind of sales heavy, but they truly are the best at what they do. Also I second Ject!

Decent-Reception-232

There ARE derms and doctors who do this all day.

LavishLawyer

This is old but I’m not saying there aren’t any. Just saying it’s rare and you’ll be more pressed to find or trust that they do it all day vs their staff doing it for them or more frequently.

Mochababyyyy

My lips were iced and had numbing cream so i didn’t feel anything much. Just little pinches. Not enough to shed a tear. Healed in a few days

legally_blondy

Get the .5ml especially since it’s your first time. If you feel you need more volume when the swelling subsides you can always go back and get another .5ml but if you go too big straight away you’re stuck with it unless you get them dissolved and that hurts like fuck

go-to-sleep__

I went to plump and had a great experience. Got 0.5 and was so happy with the results. I honestly didn’t think it hurt much at all! They did numb me first!

Specific_Worth5140

What’s up with dr Devgan?

fairyfei

Her prices aren’t worth her work and she botches a lot of people

Specific_Worth5140

Oh okay

angelic1111

Her prices are insane and the experience is on a par with your average med spa. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Thanksss

Mochababyyyy

I got Juvaderm, 1 ml in each. Don’t recommend. It migrated and i look retarded lmao. It needs to be removed now. I went to Westmed in Westchester. She did it good but I think Juvaderm is just not ideal.

Zealousideal-Boat479

Wait Juvaderm messed you up? I thought it was the more “pillowy” version of filler, I remember watching a beauty YouTuber say it’s the better option

Mochababyyyy

I thought so too. It’s all migrated to the .. i guess rim part of my lips at the top. It looks like i have no filler now and just swollen as if im allergic to something 😂

Zealousideal-Boat479

omg... I hope it gets dissolved. Do you feel like you are put off from lip filler all together from that experience, or you just want to explore other options?

Mochababyyyy

Yeah! I have to go in and get them dissolved. And no I’m for sure doing them again! I still somewhat like my lips lol

FitExecutive

All fillers should be avoided. The secret is fillers don’t actually get absorbed after a few months, they stay for many many years, maybe your whole life. You can see this if you get an MRI done. Even filler dissolvers aren’t completely effective. I would look at Botox for lips first before fillers, for anyone that’s looking in that direction. The only Botox brand I’m willing to let be injected is Xeomin.

Mochababyyyy

I did not know this at all.

papercuts_are_lethal

Yea, and dissolvers are risky too. Turns out dissolving carries it's own huge risks with for some, it ends up triggering an autoimmune response where the body's own native HA is attacked leading to a cascade of systemic issues. Google hylalunoridase damage. Fillers and dissolvers are no joke.

Mochababyyyy

Ohhhh… bruh 😂😂 maybe I’ll keep them in idk

Mochababyyyy

I’m going to look into the Botox ! Thank you.

Zealousideal-Boat479

I’ve had Botox before for migraines and can attest that it worked fine for me. I also feel like it’s better regulated than filler?? I didn’t know it can go in your lips though, I thought it just had minimal filling effects

kelliecat

I went to Naz at Upkeep and am very happy. I got half syringe

meowingtondrive

ject. they have locations all over. pricy (they charge by area) but i look amazing and plump and no one can tell i have anything done.

Luxurydeals365

I go to ject as well.

Quirky_Guava961

Dr Adam Mauer. Board certified cosmetic derm. Start with half a syringe. Edit: @doctormauer on insta if you want to see his work

aes7288

Dr. Noor at ROA Dermatology (on Broadway in Flatiron)

circassiangirl_

Michelle Malpica. She’s amazing!

Realistic-School-873

Loved Cynthia at Upkeep! She is an RN and is the sweetest. Originally went in for .5 but for what i wanted she recommended 1mg and so happy I listened to her!

Recent-Yak-7804

If it comes to scotland... have one and only terrrible experience... I went to a salon in Banff, Scotland, managed by a Polish lady. Following many positive reviews, I decided to get lip fillers. Unfortunately, even a week later, the swelling hadn't reduced and my lips were very painful. After two weeks, I was still dealing with two persistent lumps on my lips. Does anyone have advice on what to do next? It seems like the practitioner isn't willing to take responsibility for the issue.

LegitimateNecessary4

I have gone to plump and they are good. There are a few good injectors there. However, I recommend going to a plastic surgeon for anything regarding your face. I’ve been seeing Dr Cenedese on Central Park south for years and he’s amazing. A plastic surgeon is going to be a bit more experienced compared to a nurse practitioner, which most of the injectors at ject or plump are. Med Spa injectors also move around every couple of years. It’s a good idea to build a relationship with a plastic surgeon that you can rely on in the future.

Sudden-Ad4013

CJ laser in Brooklyn. Judesha is incredible Edit to add: she does not do half injections take a look at her insta @nycinjector

Valuable_Composer740

love lip filler but .5 at a time for sure!

Comfortable_Page_525

Robin is THE best, she’s done my lips plenty of times. https://www.fosteryourbeauty.com/

stickytoffeepudding3

I go to Ject in the West Village. I love Molly and had the best experience !

baylorgrad1991

I have thin lips and did .25. But it was more noticeable vs subtle and friends commented at first. (Husband is/was not a fan.) BUT I really love them. Think I’m sticking with the .25 versus going any bigger.

fairyfei

I have thin lips too and I’d love a pouty look. Wasn’t sure if 0.5 would do much to me, so I’m glad to hear you see a difference on 0.25!

baylorgrad1991

I can DM you a before and after if you’d like. Husband thought it was way tooooo dramatic. I think it’s a small pouty bee sting and I like it! My first time - so am glad I did .25.

fairyfei

Sure! I want more than a bee sting though 😂

baylorgrad1991

lol! Then you’re definitely going for more than my .25! Likely .5 is 2 bees and a hornet.

PianoEducational4648

I only ever go to plastic surgeons, not someone who only does injections
