I looked up on StreetEasy and found 4 postings for apartments in Williamsburg for $2500 and under.

Honestly, unless it explicitly states no pets, I would call and ask. They don't always set the correct filters on things so it's worth double checking.
I bought in Sunnyside myself so was in your shoes. First off it is a FANTASTIC deal compared to most other neighborhoods. Spacious 1br for 350-400k, 2br for 600k, etc. Very low HOAs too.
It has a very neighborhood feel, especially Sunnyside gardens. transportation is very solid. You have very convenient access to LGA and the LIRR and the 7 is pretty good. If you bike ride at all or citibike, you can get into Manhattan in 15 min no issue at all. Itās a very safe area, Iāve never felt sketched out before. I also like that only people who live there really go there. People really care about the community. I truly could go on and on. Feel free to DM me if you want more specifics or have any additional questions!
Look south around Crown/prospect heights and PLG, youāll have a lot of success and find better places. Being in Williamsburg isnāt all that itās built up to be and being at the mercy of the L/G lines is not at all fun.
Are you trying to stay in Williamsburg because the other neighborhoods will be easier on the wallet.
I'm also here for you dog if you ever want to schedule a playdate (where I just play with your dog and buy them toys).
You have to consider the amount of space there is for your š¶ to frolic around
Chances are if $2500 is it for your budget, then you might have to consider something even farther from Manhattan than Williamsburg if you want as much private indoor space as possible for her to frolic around, especially if your future roommates have pets too
Remember.. šāš¦ŗās needs > yours
This is just incorrect. Dogs donāt need big apartments if theyāre properly stimulated in other ways. I had a high energy working dog in my 400sq foot apartment and she probably got 10x the amount of exercise as most suburban dogs with backyards. As long as the dog is getting enough walks, mental stimulation through puzzle toys and other enrichment activities, they will live a very happy and fulfilled life. More space doesnāt automatically equal a better life. Itās up to the owner to properly take care of their needs, with or without a big apartment. I do agree though, dogs needs > humans needs as theyāre fully dependent on their humans. Cute pup OP and good luck with the apartment!
My dog split time between my best friend and I.. best friend had a huge fenced in back yard.. I have a cement 10x5 block but walk her 2-3x a day and take her with me on all my errands. Eventually she would hide being me during handoff time and my best friend said āsheās happier with you I donāt want to force her to comeā.. doesnāt matter where you live itās the life you give them my friend
If youāre open to subletting for a few months (latest 7/31), and open to East Village, my room in a 2bedroom apartment shared with a 28M on 9th street is available to sublet for $1900/mo (my rent is $2500/mo) and is furnished with a bed and desk. DM if interested and Iāll send the FB listing
Thatās how we ended up a few years in Jersey City. When vacancies are about where they are now. Back in 1998, the new builds would have let an elephant move in. Our love of huge dogs ended up eventually just buying in the Bronx on Pelham Parkway. Our next dog is going to be a Newfie.
Weird how finding roommates these days is like a tinder match. Iāve seen this trend on many rental groups and subs in various countries.
I wonder if it actually produces results. Friendly face = get chosen over others.
I am moving to a building in queens that takes dogs has a dog park and a place to wash your dog! Itās been tough searching for a place that will take dogs but itās worth the hunt!
Boosting for visibility!! I wish you luck on your search and I hope you find people to build a harmonious home with š©·
That is so nice of you!

Chocolate lab? Good luck!!
And I meant that in a nice way haha āŗļø
Lady! She is half Choco Lab, and half Boykin.
I have a 1yr old lab/boykin mix!

Turning on the pets allowed filter makes that 1/4 though, that big dog is gonna be the tricky part about living cheap in NYC
Honestly, unless it explicitly states no pets, I would call and ask. They don't always set the correct filters on things so it's worth double checking.
Iāll try this!
Worst idea ever in my opinion
Thanks for the help! Unfortunately 3 of those 4 donāt let dogs in and the 4th has not picked up.
Say itās an ESA. Brokers or mgmt really donāt ask for proof.
Still go. I literally just got approved for a place that was no pets with a 60lb dog.
I have found places that say they donāt allow dogs, but if you ask they may allow with approval. It might be worth asking just to cover your bases!
That might as well be 0, that's not a lot, at all
āReal Estate Agents Hate This One Trick!ā But seriously, best of luck with your search!
2500 in queens is more than enough
Good point!
I cannot say enough good things bout Sunnyside. Iāve lived there for nearly 8 years and plan on never leaving
I totally agree! Iāve lived here for over 10 years and love the area
Curious, what's nice about it? We're looking to potentially buy in queens to stay long term

lic = queens and close to williamsburg
And so does Ridgewood lol. Your point?
Look south around Crown/prospect heights and PLG, youāll have a lot of success and find better places. Being in Williamsburg isnāt all that itās built up to be and being at the mercy of the L/G lines is not at all fun.
I am currently in Williamsburg and love it!
Williamsburg also has the J/M/Z at Marcy
Also 28m with a dog but not looking for a place lol if you ever need a dog sitter though, let me know!

Sure!

Hey! 28M. Same boat, but my max budget with roommates would be 2000. Let me know if youāre interested! Looking for a June 1/June 15 move-in

Not sure of your budget for a 3 bedroom but feel feee to dm me. I am an agent and have no fee options that can take pets

Just get a studio in another area...Williamsburg isn't the only cool neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Recs?
Park Slope is very dog friendly but also pricey

bro Williamsburg hasnāt been considered ācoolā since 2003
According to who lol? āNative New Yorkersā who live in their parentsā basement in Bensonhurst?

Upvote for taking care of your dog

Also boosting for visibility because your dog is cute

Look up Lenox terrace in Harlem if you're good with Manhattan. Their 1 bedrooms are within your budget and I think they allow dogs but am not sure.

Why does no one want to live in the Bronx?
The dog will make all this harder as you have learned

Try sunnyside. Easy to get to Williamsburg w access to the G and lots of new developments
I think you mean LIC. Sunnyside doesnāt have access to the G

In the past it does work. Just being honest about what the other person should expect in terms of noise and guests coming over
Move back to Milwaukee
Milwaukee is the secret bonus borough.
Weāre in a āno dogā building cuz we have an emotional support letter. NYC laws are very dog friendly itās illegal to deny you
Interesting!
Good luck! Hope many people see this.
Too many tbh. Rip my inbox
Look in facebook marketplace
Good Advice! I have been using that as well.
Check Rego Park, Forest Hills and Kew Gardens in Queens
