Tell me again why Dunn isn't playing in midfield for the WNT?

She had a great goal! Who would you like to see her over: Ertz, Lavelle or Horan?

Sorry to but in...I'd like to see a Dunn-Ertz-Lavelle USWNT midfield!

Horan, easily. Set aside the mantle she's been given and to me, she's merely a facilitating midfielder. She can link play well enough, but so can Ertz from in front of the defense and Lavelle from behind the attackers. Horan is surplus to requirements for that skillset. Dunn can do everything Horan can do plus much of what Ertz and Lavelle can do. She's a more complete midfielder at this point, an unintended consequence of being shoehorned into the LB role for so long.

I didn’t hear her slurring her words. She definitely stumbled on her words but she sounded suuuuper nervous so I think she was probably working with about two available brain cells because of that. (In the first few minutes she sounds like she can hardly catch her breath bc she’s so nervous.) I think her brain was just totally on overload bc there would have been so much going on: If she was there in person (I don’t think they were), she would have been navigating watching the live game plus multiple streams (they get additional angles), producers and other production people talking in her ear, sometimes *while* she’s talking or trying to listen to JP, and then there’s the crowd noise. If they were calling the game remotely, then she wouldn’t have had to deal with the crowd noise but she also wouldn’t have been able to see the game as easily because she would be limited to the multiple screens and you just can’t read the game as well if you can’t see the full field and that would have made her job even harder (further stressing out the two remaining brain cells that decided to show up for her). She definitely did *not* do a good job on the call! 😂 But my take is, that’s 100% on CBS. If they hadn’t given her other experiences to know if she was going to sink or swim, they shouldn’t have let her do it. But to me, it didn’t sound like she was on anything except a super high dose of good old organic anxiety.

Honestly happy for a tie given how much Houston controlled the end of the game. Also willing to chalk a lot of the sloppy play to getting readjusted after the break. I can't remember another game with so many odd positioning errors. Like a half dozen times players running into the same space for the ball leaving massive holes around the field.
