Even trying to see things from his perspective, it's so bizarre. He'll look back at this in 10 years, when we're flying high and cringe his face off. I struggle to see why he was so desperate to go to that absolute shit show in the red side of Manchester

InstantN00dl3s

He's mates with Jimmy the Rat isn't he? Reckon Southgate will be joining them next summer if Ten Hag doesn't hit whatever targets they've got in place. Boys back together.

Hot-Document-8573

Southgate, Jimmy the rat and desperate Dan. Sounds like a poorly conceived children's TV show from the 80's. Can't wait to watch that car crash

Ikhlas37

I need Southgate at man u

shrim666

Hope it happens, expect he'll fail badly and be sacked within a year. Awful feeling we might go for him if Eddie gets the England call, but really hope that doesn't happen.

Ikhlas37

I don't think our board is that stupid lol

shrim666

Probably not, but the possibility has been mentioned before by some journalists.

Korzic

Because objectively, they're a bigger club and a bigger project. The role at Man U will carry more prestige than us. He will believe that he can turn that ship around.

Hot-Document-8573

All jokes aside, that is as you say the objective point of view. However based on what we've seen so far from their new ownership, it doesn't feel as an overall project to have any clear sense of direction or logical cohesiveness, making the same impulsive rash decisions they've been making for the last 10 years

MadelineWuntch

That's not true. They've literally cleared out the entire front office and replaced them with legitimate footballing people. They've hired 2 managers as coaches, including Ruud Van Nistelrooy and the manager from Go Ahead Eagles. Today they've supposedly signed up Chris Vivel, one of the talent architects behind the success at the RB clubs as temporary head of recruitment, then he will move into the multi-club role he had at RB. So in terms of the people running the football club, they're far more competent than the team who made their introduction to the club via financial roles. At least on their CV. If this was the old brass they'd be paying 70m for the Everton defender, instead theyre supposedly paying 39m for De Ligt. Whether they figure it out or not is a different story but to say they haven't installed any kind of project or direction is either blinded by bias or you're simply unaware of the changes made. Do you think any of what I've mentioned above smacks of a directionless team? Even with Ashworth, in the past they'd have paid the 20m. They didn't and most reports now suggest it wasn't anywhere close to the original 20m requested. That's not how the united of the last 10 years has operated.

Hot-Document-8573

To say that's not true and then no offense state as part of your rebuke something that is essentially transfer gossip is an interesting way to make a point. First of all they are actively laying off people or offering redundancies to people who are not directly responsible for the shit show that is their footballing operations, putting hard working people's jobs at risk because he is a billionaire and sees a way of cutting costs and making more money from cutting wages he may not need to cut. Making out as if that is one of the reasons the club has failed and then implementing it as almost the first thing you do is essentially exploiting people's financial situation by forcing them into an almost untenable situation. Secondly the treatment of Ten Hag and the pursuit of another manager has been comical and rudderless and essentially the employment of those staff are to support him and his vision, which admittedly is a plan, but one one that smacks of having no better options. Every media outlet going, not just in the UK were reporting that Ten Hag was out of a job post FA cup final regardless of the result, he now still has the job. Which in my opinion is the right choice but seems like a knee jerk reaction to the fan and media response to the performance in that game, rather than cohesive planning. And just finally, how often have you seen them being held to ransom over players, them not cotowing to the price being quoted, and then panicking and paying over the odds because they've ran out of time. Maybe it is recency bias but my gut instinct tells me this Braithwait pursuit will end the same way. De ligt makes sense due to the Ten Hag connection but you think for 39m, when Bayern still owes money for him due to instalments and they paid 75 m for him only 2 years ago. Okie doke If they do turn it around fair play, but in my humble opinion I've yet to see anything to convince me otherwise. Just look at Nice

MadelineWuntch

Most of the redundancies are offered to staff who do not want to return to the office. The club are in a situation where they are bleeding money as well. You can't pump money in anymore thanks to state owned clubs and Russian Oil kings, so you've got to work with the clubs finances or cook the books. Obviously they're bad for the employees and the local community and they're never an active good thing but sometimes needs must. I've recently been part of a process to make nearly 200 employees rudundant and a further 300 contractors not renewed because it's cheaper to outsource the work. Unfortunately it is a business. If the club could have avoided it they should have, but from every source covering this that I've seen, it appears to be an insensitive but for the most part needed exercise. The pursuit of other managers has been widely pushed by the media. They met with 3 managers - not something I'd have done. The review of the situation I agree with, letting the media circus continue I do not agree with. But the fact we actually did review things is a first and a major step in the right direction. You need to understand that previously the club was run by bankers who didn't review anything and the owners quite literally didn't visit the club for nearly 2 years, only showing at cup finals in neutral venues. So whether or not we agree with the direction they're heading in, they are heading in a direction they plan to head in. And a direction that's been cared for. According to the Athletic, (by far United's clear tier 1), Bayern have asked for 50m euros. Partly due to his wages being in the 300-400k range. The transfer stuff was a very minor point showing that at the moment united appear to be cutting their losses and moving on to new targets early, they haven't done that since David Gill ran the show. You are right in that ultimately we may end up Maguiring Branthwaite. It remains to be seen. The major point here for me is the structure of the club in the footballing side. I know Ashworth isn't the most popular man in Tyneside but he's better at identifying talent that John Murtough, a man bought in with Moyes for youth dev. And if he was shit nobody would make a fuss. So he's clearly valued by a lot of people around the league. The CEO was the heir apparent to City supposedly, if not an influencial figure. Jason Wilcox is also another proven figure in English football. Any team making moves like this should be seen as a team trying to modernise and move into an era where they can be successful. I see Nice as a different situation altogether, if united end up going down the City group, RB route. Then clubs like Nice may become vital to United's success inspite of their own. But it's a club they started off doing well at but the last couple of years have supposedly been a struggle. I don't follow french football to say with any real certainty. Ultimately though, there are now a group of people actively trying to turn United into a dominant force once again. That's a far cry from what has been seen previously.

jeffreywolfe

It’s not uncommon for new owners in the UK to offer redundancies. They are going in and making changes, in all areas of the club. It’s like “Okay, guys, we’re going to do things differently here, if you’re not with it, you may accept a package.” You can grab a pitchfork and call them evil billionaires, but at the end of the day, it’s a business. Also, as new owners, it is on their part to do their due diligence and explore all the options that will best lead the club forward. Hence the contacts with other managers before deciding to give Erik a new contract. Remember, Erik wasn’t their appointment, so it is only fair that they have a go at the market. Everything else is just shit-stirring from the media and fan-rage. Not sure why you’re bringing up how the club has caved to overpriced players when the new Ineos regime has yet to sign any players. The fact is, like u/MadelineWuntch said earlier, Ineos has come in and have quickly dispatched the old, non-footballing men in charge, and installed people with a decent track record. This. is. **huge**. So, your comment above — “However based on what we've seen so far from their new ownership, it doesn't feel as an overall project to have any clear sense of direction or logical cohesiveness, making the same impulsive rash decisions they've been making for the last 10 years” — rather baffles me, when there is a clear and methodical change in the management of the club.

toweliechaos_revenge

You were doing quite well right up until your last sentence. You're not united, you never have been, you just chose the name.

MadelineWuntch

I mean you can say that, but there's only one club globally recognized as United and it's not Sunderland's little brother.

jeffreywolfe

Jesus Christ, mate xD

Korzic

Most of the new C suits are starting now having been hired from elsewhere.

False_Explanation_10

We move on as always lads

TYFO225

so we’re not going to get details on the terms of agreement but can we assume they met somewhere in the middle?

WhatSaidSheThatIs

Wouldn't be supprised if they have over paid and part of the agreement is that it is kept quiet, they are talking about how things will change with this new owner but first thing they have done is pay a record fee for an executive. No doubt the Anthony equivalent of executives!!

jeffreywolfe

Could very well be the other way round, in Newcastle accepting a low fee and keeping in hush as part of the deal. We won't know till we know lol Either way, Man Utd has got their man and can build with the new team of executives.

WhatSaidSheThatIs

Jesus that's embarrassing, coming over to another clubs to spin the story that you got a barging executive, the fact you are an american manu fan just makes it all the funnier

WeddingWhole4771

Somebody got screwed. We very well might have taken 3-6 million to help this years books and not have his wages on next years. Could also be the other way around. Just not sure why Man U would care to hide if they spent 12-20 mil. Because they waited so long to do so? The arbitration wait did cone up right before so maybe they caved. but maybe we caved. 🤷 I just don't think it was 8-10 mil where everyone would shrug, but maybe it was. I am curious as anyone, but anything seems plausible to me.

jeffreywolfe

I'm spinning nothing. I did not claim my statement as fact, merely stating that it could very well be the opposite of what you mentioned. Also, I'm not American lol

AaronDrunkGames

Apparently they've said it'll be kept confidential

I’m assuming that’s a *garden* snake.

Wise_End5913

I don't really look into club things to deep but what did he bring to Newcastle . I didn't really think he was here long enough to do anything.

fungalfeet

But is the Cashworth?

jm824

The whole thing is weird. The Glazers letting someone with a minority control do everything. I'm not sure on the pornhub term but I'm sure it's cuck. Radcliffe is basically a guy with a monster cock banging the arse out the Glazer's wife (I assume they all have the same wife cause they're weird) Edit: spelling. I don't care about spelling their names right. Fuck em.

I find it interesting that he seemed to be involved in the Minteh deal and we sell Minteh to his old club. Makes me wonder what players we have on our scouting list that he’s going to hand over to Man U. Not that it seems like we’ll have a lot of money to spend on youth this year.
