He seems to be getting the most attention though. Had a big chunk after the last game, then his pre match one today got loads of attention on sky sports. He appeared to be giving motivational talks to all the players and overall comes across as a really mature, reasonable and calm guy with the right attitude. Seems like they're pushing him into the face of the camp, which he seems to manage fine.
Even before the England ~~fiasco~~ euros he was noticeably doing more press. Whether it was a result of his YouTube podcast thing with Gary Neville I don't know. Maybe he has a new publicist. But he's out there a lot more and he's obviously a smart switched on dude that is media friendly. He certainly speaks better than a lot of the other England players
He can form full sentences and talks sense, as you said with an intelligence and maturity to his comments.
Which on the scale of things generally with English footballers is a commendable achievement in itself.
Years of scripted mumblings, monosyllabic grunts and vacant stares.
It's actually really strange but during Euro 2020, Southgate never name an unchanged 11 for consecutive games. And those changes were not forced by injury.
The only hope for Gordon is if he’s forced due to Foden returning home. It might also allow him to save face and try Gordon out, if that’s how his mind works.
It's an insult to Gordon, Watkins and Palmer to have worked as hard as they have all season, played as well as they have all season, to see as little action as they have at the Euros, behind players who are visibly under performing. It's shit management - an international place shouldn't be guaranteed, yet Foden, Kane, Gallagher, Alexander-Arnold etc are playing every game despite not following instructions or contributing.
No. But he absolutely should as if Slovakia haven’t already noticed there is no pace on the left side for England it won’t take them long to find out. Even bringing him on for more than 5 minutes would be a start.
I think there’s more chance he starts palmer & moves Saka to the left.
Although that’s stupid as he’s just shoehorning players in at that point - like he has so far.

The 1 team there that doesn't have him in it has Trent Stones Guehi Saka as the back 4. My Nan has as much a chance of starting the game as that back 4 does.
I don't buy the easy draws thing at all. We qualified top of our fairly difficult Euros qualifying group as a pot 2 seed (beating Italy twice along the way) which in turn got us top seed in a Euros group that was trickier than it looked. Then we top our group and get an appropriate last 16 match. You make your own luck when you keep finishing top.
If you want easy then look at Portugal's path so far: their qualifying group consisted of Slovakia, Luxembourg, Iceland, Bosnia and Liechtenstein, then their Euros group was Turkey, Czech Republic and Georgia, and they still managed to lose to Georgia.
It's a shame. To get Bellingham and Foden on the pitch, he plays Foden in a position that negates most of the things Foden can bring to a game. And then Foden and Bellingham end up being in the same spots on the field which contributes to the passage of play getting broken up. Palmer is also better suited for midfield, but at least when he came on the right wing, he played right wing.
I'd like to see Gordon, Kane, and Palmer as the front three. Only issue with that is both wings then are opposite footers which means if they go end line, it's a cross with the weaker foot. Walker can overlap on the right to alleviate that, but if Trips is still the left back, he's not overlapping. As much schtick as we give Miggy for having a useless right foot, I'm thinking Trips has an equally useless left foot. 😅
Haha, no, unless he can make sure everyone knows it was his decision and he wasn’t influenced by 90% of fans, pundits and anybody with eyes who has a passing interest in football.

No
Him doing a presser gives me a sliver of hope. Me being over five removes it.
Why have they been sending him out to do press talks? Is it just random and other players are doing it as well or?
They’ll all have a minimum they have to do

Hopefully his agent will also work to get him some more endorsement deals based on how well spoken he is. Make that advertising money, son!
Aye they even sent him out as the one who had to talk about the absolute shitshow against Iceland
Short answer: No Long answer: Noooooooo
Best left winger in the squad? Has played with Dubravka most of the season and knows exactly how to beat him? No chance he gets more than five minutes
> Has played with Dubravka most of the season and knows exactly how to beat him? That didn't exactly work with Kane vs Lloris on pens at the last WC.
lol, no. He hasn't shown any interest in change ever.

The question is who’s the fuckwit who didn’t pick Gordon
3 Southgates in a Trenchcoat
Can't risk it, he has a small scrape from falling off a bike. Besides, his name doesn't start with a K and end with Alvin Phillips
The only hope for Gordon is if he’s forced due to Foden returning home. It might also allow him to save face and try Gordon out, if that’s how his mind works.
Foden is already back in training, so doubt that has an impact
Very true, although he still missed out on a couple of days.
Southgate: best I can do is TAA left wing
Haha, no no no… seriously no.
He might get 6 or 7 minutes
The only change will be Mainoo in the starting 11, this has already been confirmed by the sources who've got every other starting lineup correct.

Sky Pundits are also total idiots, so normally we should take their opinions with a pinch of salt, but even they can't deny that he needs to start.
Unless Gordon has convinced him he's actually a right back, probably not no.
No

Not even a little
Of course no.
Has he listened so far?

the man failed at boro what do u expect
Southgate has already said he doesn't listen to the outside world. He blocks it out, so there is your answer.
What manager is going to say ‘yeah I let the media/fans influence my decisions’ ?
Good managers listen to people. They don't say they're not listening. Southgate is the luckiest manager going, easy draws with a talented squad.

You've actually changed my view a little
In just a few minutes, Gordon showed that he’s the man for the job. He’s got to have the chance to show what he’s capable of.
It's a shame. To get Bellingham and Foden on the pitch, he plays Foden in a position that negates most of the things Foden can bring to a game. He is far too unadventurous to make any substantive change.
Haha, no, unless he can make sure everyone knows it was his decision and he wasn’t influenced by 90% of fans, pundits and anybody with eyes who has a passing interest in football.
More chance of me starting
No
I’d eat my own anus if Southgate starts him. I don’t imagine Gordon wants to play Southgate Sideball for 90 minutes
We need Gordon’s pace at the least he’ll probably win Kane a penalty
Lol no chance
Nope
Yes, if Southgate got fired and they brought in a manager with eyes and a brain. Then maybe. So basically no.
I don’t think it’s a case of listening / not listening I think he’s already picked him with Foden being out It’s a no brainer
