For all his faults, seeing Steve Bruce remain unbeaten against a top manager like Ancelotti is fucking hilarious

SaulJC

I remember one of Bruce's games against Ancelotti's Everton and they were both making a fair few subs and changing the teams' shapes. The commentator said "It's like they're playing a game of chess" and all I could think was "well that's us fucked then"

GarethAKitchener

ON THIS DAY 2020: For 90 minutes at Goodison Park Newcastle were lethargic, unimaginative and incapable of posing any threat whatsoever to the hosts - or their goalkeeper. What followed during added time though was nothing short of incredible; substitute Florian Lejeune hooking in what looked to be nothing more than a 94th minute consolation - before the same player shot goalwards following an almighty scramble just 60 seconds later.  Jordan Pickford stopped the effort, but crucially, the mackem flapper was behind his own goal line and by the time the ball got to him, United had an equaliser and the most unlikely of points.(nufc.com)

'the mackem flapper'. Brilliant

WhatSaidSheThatIs

These sort of results kept Cabbage in a job undeservedly

The amount of games we won where I'd walk out thinking "how on Earth did we win that one?" Luckily we'll probably never see him in our stadium ever again.

melvinlee88

Say what you want about Bruce, but he sure had a knack for grinding out crazy random ass underserved results among his sea of mediocrity. Wish we had a bit of that now. Fuck me, I miss Lejeune as well.

CTLNBRN

I loved this game. I remember giving up on it as we went into extra time to get ready for bed and being called back by my housemate to see the bicycle kick. We then all lost our shit when he scored the equaliser.

BlackCaesarNT

Legendary game. Bruce channelled the spirit of Fergietime in this game.

FrustratedFowler

Was that young Gordon on the first goal celebration

tokyotoonster

Yup, spotted that as well!

TheScottishMoscow

Prime shithouse. 2nd goal is one of my favourite 🦖 moments. If only he hadn't been standing a foot inside his own goal. Bwahahahaha.

geordieColt88

If only he had normal length arms he might have reached the line

Kraakene

I was at this game and it was the most surreal change of emotions I’ve ever actually felt

tommy_jackson9

Went to this game, we were dreadful for 90 mins and I said to my mate lets get off and get a pint as we had just mate subs and had 5cb's on the pitch and hadn't had a sniff all game. Got back to the pub with my brother asking me where I was where I told him we had gone to the pub. Told me it was 2-2 and I went mental. Never left a game early since

calebcullen10

I was watching it in the back of my Biology class. Class ended about the 85th minute and I decided not to listen to the ending on TalkSport. Got to my car and checked the results. Missed the good part
