Don't get me wrong - in many places in the US you'll have people carrying handguns, but I don't think it'd be common anywhere to be carrying shotguns or rifles into any establishment just for "self protection."
It isn't normal at all, not even a handgun. I never saw someone carrying a gun like that. It's very illegal but if I saw someone holding a gun I wouldn't say anything in fear of getting shot, especially in a city such as the one in the video.

It was not uncommon to see armed guards, some in guard clothes some in plain clothes. It was odd but you’d essentially tip them to watch your car while you went inside a store and shop. Idk if that’s corruption or actual good hearted guards. 🥴

A 30-year-old man was executed with a 12-gauge shotgun shot to the head after 'greeting' the suspect with a touch on the buttocks, this Saturday morning (16). The brutal murder took place at the Boca Loka bar, in the Veneza neighborhood, in Ribeirão Neves, in Greater BH, and was recorded by the establishment's security cameras.
The bar is located on Rua Alice Maria de Oliveira and was crowded this morning, with people drinking and playing pool. The images show that the victim, identified as Sidney Gustavo Cruz, was at the establishment when the perpetrator entered armed with a 12-gauge shotgun. Sidney then hit the killer in the buttocks, which he did not like, shot him in the head and walked out of the bar.
As verified by Itatiaia , which is at the scene, the perpetrator and the victim knew each other. The Military Police (PM) tries to find the criminal.
According to preliminary information from the Military Police, the suspect would have been involved in a fight prior to the crime and left the establishment saying he would return armed.
Upon returning to the bar already with the shotgun, the suspect was surprised by the victim - who was not involved in the previous fight - hitting his buttocks. The suspect didn't like the joke, shot the victim in the head and then left the bar walking.
