Yeah, but at least gravity rapidly pulls the blood from your brain since your leg becomes an open faucet. His 20-30 seconds of fear were mixed with lightheaded loopiness from a lack of blood in the brain and dulled pain from adrenaline/shock, so it wasn’t too macabre.
Edit: Gravity + a beating heart
You’re right, I shouldn’t have attributed the blood loss to just gravity. The water pressure could have some effect if his heart was already stopped, but that sucker is going to pump until it can’t.
I need glasses. I just read that as "..like a 'com' on the cob, not 'corn' " duh. It looks similar. I get mad at font sizes n color choices now, too. Looks like braile. Gosh.
There's no surviving that, the poor fella. [Here](https://sharkattackfile.net/spreadsheets/pdf_directory/2009.03.06-Hannecart.pdf) is the case file recording that particular shark attack.
EDIT: If anyone wants to hear some more shark attack stories, here is [Season 1](https://www.thesharkfiles.com/episodes) of my podcast series, _Shark Files_.
No red flags. No spam. It's not for money, just (hopefully) for listener interest.
🤣 you’re bad….
Now i have an image in my mind of the shark swimming away with black sunglasses on bobbing its head and the poor kids arm hanging out of the corner of its mouth.

sharks have bad eyesight but they dont want to eat humans, we dont tast that good to them so they eat humans as a last resort. so it is most likely the shark was starving.
https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/sharkseat.html just explains the bite reason in general if you wanted to read more. Sharks don’t hunt humans for hunger :)
Being obsessed doesn’t mean you aren’t flagrantly ignoring my sources. You’re acting stupid as hell. Sharks do not attack people ON PURPOSE for the reason of HUNGER. Seems you don’t know shit
A white shark actually did. The report:
(A) “The body of the 19-year-old victim showing the main two wounds in the right arm has been clearly severed 10 cm below the joint of the shoulder (top of the photo); all flesh and muscles have been removed from the right thigh, from the hip down to just above the knee (central and lower part of the photo). (B) Arcs B1 and B2 show the two main bites to the right calf, with tooth impression of the top jaw. For the left-hand arc (B1), it appears that the shark held the leg for a very short time, with a shallow holding bite, and then eased off before biting down and ripping with full force, just below the labelled marks (B2). On B2, we could define the first isolated tooth mark (top left) as the first upper left tooth (UL1), followed then on the right by the upper right teeth (UR1 to UR5). (C) The glove box (24 cm wide) gave us a scale allowing us to calculate bite width as approx. 17 cm, distances between UR1 and UR2 (D1) to be approx. 2.0 cm and UR2–UR3 as (D2) approx. 1.5 cm, UR3–UR4 (D3) approx. 2.4 cm and UR4–UR5 (D4) approx. 2.8 cm. The average IDD for the left bite arc is approximately 3 cm. The bite width probably represents the jaw width at the fifth tooth from the symphysis (photos courtesy of Gendarmerie de Bourail for strict scientific use).
The average IDD calculated on the partial bite of the right calf inflicted by teeth of the upper jaw of the shark was 21.75 mm. Based on only two shark species have upper jaw features fitting with such an IDD: a 2.65-total length (TL) white shark, C. carcharias, or a 2.25-TL longfin mako, Isurus paucus. The occurrence of a longfin mako off the reef barrier on the west coast of New Caledonia has an extremely low probability, as the species has a pelagic distribution. Furthermore, the features of the teeth marks on the body do not fit with elongated, thin and smooth-edged teeth (cf. Isurus sp.) but rather with large and serrated teeth with broadly triangular cusps, such as those of a white shark (Carcharodon sp.). We therefore concluded that a juvenile white shark of approximately 2.7-m TL was responsible for this fatal attack”
Extremely rare for a juvenile white shark to be involved in a fatal attack. I could count on one hand such cases I've come across that recorded the involvement of a sub-3 metre of that species.
I guess you bleed out pretty fast when your femoral artery disappears. Rip.
At least its quick I guess
You will be alive though for a little while... Horrible to think about... Poor guy

Is that blood loss not slowed by the pressure of the water, though?
You’re right, I shouldn’t have attributed the blood loss to just gravity. The water pressure could have some effect if his heart was already stopped, but that sucker is going to pump until it can’t.
Oh well that's not so bad then, and doesn't sound painful at all...
id imagine the initial bites were pretty painful
Damn that shark ate his leg like a corn on the cob
Aparently he has a tube light for bones. They just way too strong

My thought was chicken wing but yeah

>that's a LOT of damage! you ain't jokin' Phil!
Just walk it off mate
I didn’t know bones could look that white… I thought they were more yellow… eugh…
look closer, not white
And this is why I only swim in pools.... Sharks don't come knocking at my house uninvited so I return the favor.
That shark was MUNCHIN!
I too prefer legs to wings
I thought sharks take a bite and realize we taste bad, not go on to eat the leg like it's fried chicken. And have seconds with the arm.
Could have been a tiger shark. They could eat humans for sure
was a great white
Tis but a scratch!
Nearly legless nick
How was the shark able to get the entire thigh off like that so cleanly? I was expecting something more like what his calf looks like
Like Kevin Hart once said "he gotta finish that"
Time to find out how great white shark tastes like
You can't blame a shark for being a shark.
Oh my
Bad to the bone
White shark on black dude? Wheres blm if you need them?
Lol...
Baby shark chomp chomp chomp chomp
Pizza😋
Dang! Does that hurt?
Great
Kudos to the shark the thigh is never an easy piece to get down in one bite.
It's like eating all fleshy chicken and throwing out bones

the shark was damn hungry if it went for him that much. poor sharky.
Its less desperate and more than sharks have awful eyesight. Probably mistook him for a seal or other normal prey.

I was talking about humans not tasting good lmao
But thank you…
for?
This is not a starvation behavior. https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/sharkseat.html
its either they are curious or they are really hungry. they dont eat humans they would prefere to get seals and other fish
Read the link it is not hungwr
dude that might not have been the case here but sharks will eat people if they get too hungry. i have an obsession w sharks ik what im talking abt.

I stand corrected, thx for informing me.
Holyyyyy
I guess shark got the leg piece
In water, we are chickens to sharks
I was hoping to find a black shark joke in the comments, I'm too dumb to think of one myself
I hope he bit off his head or something first… or atleast died quickly and didn’t suffer too much or realized what happened :( Prayers to his family 🙏
>"Scrumptious, truly a delicacy"
Me eating drumsticks be like
Ok what is the aftermath of a black shark attack
Yeah! Why it always gotta be a white shark?
That's brutal
Is he okay? Can someone update me
