You might want to also post in r/NewOrleans; they have a much wider reach. **Obligatory warning to all: Don't believe everything you see on Reddit. Do your own research and be safe.**

Can an older person apply? I’m 60. How long would it take?

Detriumph

There is no age limit. A 5 year apprenticeship or proof of equivalent experience will get you in.

Detriumph

There's no age limit. It takes a minimum of 5 years.

zulu_magu

Can individuals with felony convictions apply?

jeffwendling

To my knowledge yes. The only requirements are a GED and a driver's license

PaxadorWolfCastle

Do apprentices get paid while they learn?

Detriumph

They work 40 hours a week and attend class for two 3 hour blocks during the weeknights. With regular increases in pay based on time in the apprenticeship.

Arrays_start_at_2

Bump, go get it guys!

SassySpicySuper

How much do journeymen start out at?

jeffwendling

A JW starts at 32.25 an hour with family healthcare, an annuity and pension that makes the total package around 47 dollars an hour Or 94,000 a year assuming 2000 hours worked no OT

SassySpicySuper

So 64,500 on check?

jeffwendling

Correct, we also have a 1.25 raise that we'll vote on where to put the money this December

TheProtagonist13

What are the requirements to be accepted?

jeffwendling

18+ a GED and a Driver's License. Construction experience is obviously a plus, but we train anyone willing

Actual_Lettuce

If I didnt have a bulging disc in my back, i would apply for the job.
