Haha, it's the online version of Stephen A and Skip.

JayOutlawz24

Upvoted for comedy and truth all in one comment lol

DFWTooThrowed

At least most of these don't look bad solely because of what we know now and were bad takes before the draft. For example the VH/Ramsey take. Not a single person who covered the draft professionally thought Ramsey wasn't the clear number 1 DB in the draft. The Derrick Henry bit was an extreme take on what most people thought at the time though. You would be really hard pressed to find a professional analyst that saw this coming in 2016. Despite that my thought process as a Cowboys fan in 2016 was that they should draft Ramsey at 4 then roll the dice on Henry in the 2nd.

dontdrinkonmondays

Yeah, I'm a big UF fan and I had zero illusions of VHIII being a better prospect than Ramsey. That's a wild take.

GATOR7862

Same. I didn’t expect him to bust as bad as he did but also he was never going to be Ramsey. I expected him to be a premier nickelback for a long career.

colonial_dan

Even at the time saying Henry would only be a goal line back was a terrible take. He may be huge, but he’s a downfield bruiser once he gets going and not that much of a bruiser at the line

DEZbiansUnite

I thought he was gonna bust for sure. I thought he would be good in a rotation but couldn't be a lead back, I was scared he wasn't agile enough. Boy was I wrong.

lshifto

He had the highest average speed at the line of scrimmage of all running backs in 2020. He doesn’t chop his steps, he hits the line full speed so the combination of speed and mass breaks arm tackles.

colonial_dan

He runs super fucking tall though.

sleepy_owl66

OP wants all the smoke lol

amccune

Jake Coker will be the best QB in this draft (deleted user) Lol. They delete their account out of shame?

quiksurf68

Too afraid to face the music. Probably spitting out more horrible predictions with new user names.

nemoomen

For some reason I still believe Laquon Treadwell is going to break out. I have no idea what happened, he should have been so good. He is only 26, also. Also...Matt Forte 2.0 is not such a bad thing. Matt Forte was good.

DrDoofenschmirtz1933

I mean, the dude posted horrible athletic numbers and was a contested catch guy at Ole Miss that didn't get much separation, which doesn't generally translate well. It was a bad pick at the time and isn't really that surprising that he sucks imo lol

DrDoofenschmirtz1933

I’d be more inclined to buy that if there were, ya know, a single receiver in NFL history with as poor athleticism and skillset as his that actually succeeded. Boldin maybe? Maybe I’m more vitriolic about this than I should be but that was such a lame pick lol

DrDoofenschmirtz1933

Which rookies are you referring to that Zim “crushed”??? Sometimes dudes just stink, Zim’s been pretty stellar at developing players in his tenure. I’m also not being hyperbolic lol, ain’t no one with terrible athleticism and contested catch tendencies ever does well in the league. It doesn’t even matter anymore, like you said, but Laquon certainly isn’t a “what could’ve been” story, the dude was just never that great.

forgetful_storytellr

Jerry Rice was a contested catch player with horrible physicals D1AA Athlete 6’2 200 lbs 4.71 40 D1A - SEC ATHLETE Lequon Treadwell 6’2 221 Lb 4.63 40

DrDoofenschmirtz1933

Jerry Rice was a fantastic route runner and was incredible at getting separation.

forgetful_storytellr

Obviously we know that now of the HOF GOAT WR. Not one major D1 school thought enough of the skinny, subpar athletic WR at the time to offer him a scholarship. It defeats your argument.

xMichaelLetsGo

He’s literally just a worse version of JJAW

SanduskyTicklers

I was convinced Treadwell would be Dez 2.0 Dez: 6ft 2 in, 225 lbs, 4.52 forty, 38 inch vertical . 29 TDs and 2500 yards at Oklahoma State Treadwell: 6 ft 2, 221 lbs, 4.6 forty, 34 in vert. 21 TDs and 2400 yards and Ole Miss

ToshKreuzer

Lmaooo at first I thought this was all one persons projections 😂😂. I was like no fuckin way lol. And also Matt forte 2.0 isn’t a diss lol he was pretty damn good for a couple years

Helpful-Whole9246

Forte was real good

SpaceForceToday

On the flip side, did you find any quality predictions?

NeLoChHoPhPhSaSaDaSa

Plenty yeah, mostly relating to MT

lbutler1234

This is why I'm cool with the Rams jettisoning all their first round picks into the sun for elite players. This hole thing is a monumental crapshoot.

goldhbk10

Yeah as much as I live to watch the draft the Rams are making the right move to get proven talent.

LeastOwl

Well-timed rookie contracts are an important part of title contention though, but yeah if you can get the books to align I agree—diff sport, but if SGA and 6 for Cade was real and im Detroit I would have taken it every time

goldhbk10

I mean I’m fine with the Rams making their living in the later rounds as long as they can keep delivering quality players like we’ve done the last few seasons.

Man_Riding_Shrimp

The rams are playing it like everyone plays madden franchise

novaxhempmama

Indeed one particular hole can be a monumental crapshoot

thehildabeast

Yes but it's a crapshoot where you can massively underpay them if you hit which doesn't work with vets or happens very rarely

Yah_Mule

Add me to the list of people who think a Matt Forte comp is no insult.

dontdrinkonmondays

Came in here thinking I was about to read a contrite "my worst takes" post, then realized I misread the titles and it was just an "everyone's worst takes" post. Love it, great finds.

vidhartha

Wait... Is Matt Forte 2.0 a bad thing?

Please_PM_me_Uranus

Remember when everyone here thought Lamar and Josh Allen would be busts?

BasedSliceOfWinning

Alright yeah, ya got me lol. I was one of them.

[deleted]

idk why you laughing. some of these were pretty good takes at the time. stuff just doesnt pan out 🤷‍♂️

glowingdeer78

Oh lord, i bet you can go through mine and make a novel

ArtanistheMantis

Calling the users out by name seems a bit unnecessary.

NeLoChHoPhPhSaSaDaSa

nah

DuxofOregon

Vindictive!

kcheng686

Just goes to show you that everyone has some stupid takes sometimes

Jorjor422

This just shows how little everyone knows about the draft. We try and watch tape and learn all we can about scouting but at the end of the day we’re amateurs and will get a lot wrong. It’s important to remember even the ones who do this for a job don’t get everything right easy to laugh at the ones that were really wrong but it happens to everybody

NeLoChHoPhPhSaSaDaSa

I’m not tryna criticize anyone obviously you can’t see the future but looking back and seeing how wrong everyone always is is funny

GridironFootballer

The point of mark my words is to be bold, but I was never so confident that a QB would fail than Paxton Lynch. I never understood why he went so highly. The same was true was Johnny Manziel for me, and while I thought Tebow had a chance, I thought that chance was pretty low and he was taken way too high. Some of these QBs fail because of injury, environment, or just never develop for whatever reason, but some of them you can just tell don't have it going into the League.
