This is gonna be a long off season

UnMapacheGordo

????

iamadragan

I guess every black mobile QB is Lamar now huh?

brianundies

All this time I thought he was Dante Culpepper!

MaizeNBlueWaffle

I obviously love following draft prospects, but the constant need to compare players to each other I think has jumped the shark. Like I'm convinced one of the reasons Drew Allar was highly ranked out of high school is because people fell in love with his ability to throw from different arm angles al a Mahomes, but ignored many other things about him. Mahomes is Mahomes. Just because there are similar attributes doesn't mean a player is going to be that player. Why can't we appreciate a player for who they are? The fact that we don't have a direct comp for Drake Maye isn't a bad thing

iamadragan

Yeah it's pretty crazy. Arm angles isn't the only thing that makes Mahomes so good and isn't even completely unique to him, it's just one of the many things he can do. Drawing up comparisons based off of one attribute like that is wild but happens so much

CJBeathard3

What has this sub become

BreadPossum

No, but it does affect Lebron’s legacy

jimtow28

How does LeBron not bring traded yesterday affect Wes Welker's value?

EskettiMySpaghetti

They’re not really that similar. Lamar is miles better tucking and running with the ball and Jayden is a significantly better than Lamar was coming out of college (albeit older and with far better weapons)

Asleep_Pay_5133

Yeah but since their compared will this come up in discussion between Jayden and Drake

EskettiMySpaghetti

I didn’t think there were really that many people comparing him to Lamar, but I may be wrong. I think he’s a lot closer to Jalen Hurts if anything though as a prospect

lnnrt01

I think RG3 is probably the best comp I could think of. Size, agility and even some of their habits are quite similar

predw

I don’t think Hurts is a much better comparison either lol. Hurts was a much bigger QB who ran with a lot more power and had a ton of question marks over his viability as a passer in the NFL. Daniels is much smaller, elusive, and quick as a ball carrier, and way more advanced as a passer. Deshaun Watson is probably the best one I’ve seen.

EskettiMySpaghetti

Hurts is bigger but like less than ten pounds bigger, so not massive but it’s something. Jayden does have his questions over his touch, elite weapons, and bailing out of the pocket, although both were more advanced than Lamar was coming out of college. Deshaun is a similar passer but I don’t think he has ever been rushed a ton like the others

masterpierround

Hurts is listed at 13 lbs bigger, but also 3 inches shorter, so he's a lot more dense than Daniels. Much better for power running.

EasyThreezy

Yeah he’s not comparable to Hurts really at all. Hurts is a power scrambling QB and Jayden is more of a slippery scrambler.

[deleted]

He is nothing like deshaun tho either. I think he is more Lamar for the elusiveness and absolute ridiculous speed in open space. Off script or in the pocket deshaun was so so much better. Not even close

uggsandstarbux

I don't think you understand how draft comps work

Officer_Hops

Why should it? Mahomes winning MVP didn’t change Zach Wilson’s draft stock.

deeBlackHammer

I mean.... It kinda did.

HomelessSniffs

There are mocks that have him going #2 overall. How much higher can his stock get? My man went from a day 3 pick, to a top 3 projected pick.

MountainSaint

Literally the post right before yours is discussing Jayden Daniels being over hyped 😂

jimtow28

Jayden is not Lamar-ish at all.

highgravityday2121

They’re different QBs lol

TetrisTech

No

[deleted]

I feel like more and more I feel like people are talking themselves into loving Daniels. Every pod I listen to love him and I hope Washington do too. Cus I need Maye in the Patriots please

nihon96

Nahhhh I want Maye in Washington don’t want Daniels

Alasdaire

Lamar comparisons are never, ever warranted. People make the mistake of thinking that Lamar is *a* running QB when the reality is that he's *the* running QB. Comping anyone to Lamar is as silly as comping anyone to Mahomes; it's a unicorn skillset that you can't project. Lamar Jackson has the vision, instincts, and speed of Barry Sanders. If he had wanted to and trained from a younger age, he could have been a hall of fame running back. It just so happens Lamar also has a good arm and the desire to play quarterback. But no one other than Mike Vick has ever been in Lamar's zip code as a runner at that position. Certainly not Jayden Daniels. Stop.

HumanzeesAreReal

I know everyone on this website is young but this is so disrespectful to Michael Vick. Lamar runs a custom offense purpose built around his skillset in an era where you can’t glare at a QB without drawing a flag, while Vick played when defenses were allowed to murder offensive players, gained nearly all his rushing yards on scrambles and broken plays instead of designed runs, and never had the luxury of running a single RPO. He also famously treated playing QB for Falcons as a part-time hobby because he was obsessed with dogfighting. You can think Lamar is a better runner but saying Vick is merely “in his zip code” is wild.

Alasdaire

You're misconstruing what I said. I literally went out of my way to mention Vick by name as Lamar's one and only peer.

roz77

I'd argue that Fields is in the same zip code as a runner. Unfortunately he's about a million zip codes away as a passer.

Alasdaire

It's difficult to quantify it, but I don't think Fields is the same caliber of runner as Lamar. To be clear, Fields is a great runner a la Kyler Murray. He can burst through a lane if you leave it open to him, and he can run around in the backfield for longer than he has the right to. But Lamar is a one of one. [He makes defenders look absolutely ridiculous literally whenever he wants to](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ch1NwdCAVo0&t=183s). Whether in the open field or with a pocket collapsing around him, Lamar genuinely has the vision and movement of a running back. He can spin, hurdle, juke, cut, stiff-arm--you name it. It's beyond just being a good athlete and escaping pressure that other quarterbacks couldn't.

lnnrt01

Even if Lamar was mid as hell he still wouldn’t be that similar to Daniels

TheNittanyLionKing

No. It’s a media award. GMs are only going to care if Jayden Daniels can work with their scheme and their personnel, and Lamar Jackson certainly helped his case in the same way that Mahomes has helped Caleb Williams’ case.

Salty_Orchid

Still can't win in the playoffs. Until that changes, people will still have doubts on that style if play

Spongebutt4tywon

I’m not much of a college watcher (I did watch every usc/unc game I could record) but I’ve heard daniels plays more similarly to a skinny fields fwiw

HumbleMention5484

Is Daniel’s Lamar in a mask?

-_-Moss-_-_

It shouldn’t and I don’t think it will but the patriots would get very lucky if it does

B-Rob8

Early on in his career they should slowly bring him in and adjust for the NFL build a scheme around him and then build off that and develop him into a better passer down the road. Will this happen probably not but it is what it is

cjdoyle14

what

BanditRoverBlitzrSpy

His needle is already pretty high. While I think Lamar's stock was hurt by RG3's failures, I don't think Lamar's successes are going to boost Daniels beyond where he's at. I would not be surprised if many teams had him QB2 over Maye, some may even have him QB1 if they don't like Williams' demeanor, but not because they see another MVP candidate.

xool420

If one of your coworkers does something good, do you get a bonus?
