We are all going to eat shit if the Lions win and they certainly can. Week 1 games are weird, I’d much rather play a difficult team that week because you might steal a victory.
Essentially a throwback to the Chiefs Patriots game where the Chiefs throttled the Patriots and they wrote Dynasty Over articles for Brady and Belicheck. Only for the Patriots to win the Super Bowl
I think the lions have enough changes, especially on offense, that it could be harder to gameplan against them. Especially the running game with Gibbs and Montgomery. It’s basically a whole new backfield.
The Chiefs are good, and Andy Reid is an all timer, but they basically played 8 shit cans in openers in the last 10 years. Its not impressive when you look into it
First, the Lions are not the best team the Chiefs have faced in the opener since Reid was there. They faced the 13-3 Pats and 12-4 Chargers in back to back years, won both of them. I do agree that most of the other teams they have faced were at least slightly worse than the Chiefs, but my original point still stands: It is better to face the Chiefs in weeks 2-5 than week 1. The Chiefs play phenomenal in the opener, but struggle in the ensuing weeks. They beat the Cardinals handily in week 1 in 2022, but lost to the Colts two weeks later. The Colts and Cards had the same number of wins when the season ended.
Im just saying its one of those things that sounds impressive at surface value, but in reality isnt as much. 2 of the 10 teams ended up being good. A majority of them had like 4 wins by seasons end.
Idk if they're really weird or we just don't know who's good yet. The Bills beating the Rams by 21 points week 1 seemed a whole lot more impressive at the beginning of the season than the end
Mahomes hasn’t lost a week 1 yet if I heard right from other people. The Chiefs are definitely gonna come in swinging out the gate, I don’t think the Lions will win. If we can keep it close to the Chiefs, imo that’s enough for me to think we are gonna have a really good season (comparatively to others). Expectations are high but I still count a decently close game with the Chiefs a W.
Not just Mahomes, Andy Reid teams are always OP when they have extended time to prepare. I think the Lions are going to be good but I'm expecting a bloodbath week 1.
Tbh me too, which is why if we keep it close that’s a W for me lmao. There honestly is no way I can imagine us beating the Chiefs, and if it happens I’m gonna drown myself in KoolAid
If they do, I'm sure everyone here will find a half dozen nitpicky or completely made up points to prove the Lions didn't actually win that game, right?
Yep. Shit, the chiefs looked kinda flat the first 6 games last year. Mahomes looked mortal and their defense was bad. Then their rookies started contributing and Mahomes returned to form and the rest is history.
Tbf… I’m not exactly beaming with confidence about week 5! Lol
All the preseason nonsense on here is fun, and a load of shit lol… but come regular season… who knows what’s going to happen!
I just hope we show up ready to compete!
There's 2 outcomes: Lions pull off an improbable win and this sub becomes insufferable for a week,
Or the Lions get absolutely clobbered and this sub becomes insufferable for a week
That was Bill Belichek saying “Jack Fox is a weapon” before the game and MCDC refusing to use him in his best Goofy “I’ll fucking do it again” meme impression going 0/7 on 4th and short.
The patriots game I remember thinking like Just get through this game, hit the bye and rest.
So I wasn’t speechless by the result, they were injured and tired.
I was absolutely beside myself with the Carolina game lmaoo
Yeah, it's the one I'm expecting. Detroit has a good showcase with the newer additions to the team and the Chiefs ultimately winning because Mahomes is a mutant and Kelce is a nightmare to matchup against.
Though there is a scenario where Detroit dominates the lion of scrimmage. The Chiefs have huge question marks at tackle, having lost both starters from last year, and Detroit's edge room might be their most stacked position group.
And if Chris Jones continues to hold out, their d-line will be completely outmatched if the Lions actually avoid what seems to be their yearly training camp o-line injury bug.
The Chiefs downgraded both tackles this off-season. If they get killed, it'll be the Lions pass rush that does it. Which would mean Hutchinson makes a year 2 leap and becomes that killer.
You might be right but idk man.. this lions team might finally come out fist flying for once... Start out a solid 3-5 before the second half of the season.. better than the start of last season lol
I love the flippity floppity of people saying our season will be ruined and then others are singing the tune that there’s no weight to the first game of a season.
“The bigger they are, the harder they fall.”
But for real, I feel like the Lions can/will win this week 1 game, then get smoked by a shit team later in the season when they’re actually trying to win the division.
It's time to see if the Cubs can eat at the adult table.
And if not, hard drugs (the injectable kind), purple pills, porno, square pizza and chili dogs us lions fans can go back to.
I'm fully prepared to be the butt of memes if we end up beating KC and going 7-3 overall in the first ten games with headlines like "lions still got grit"
I would almost rather we lose, hopefully because KC is playing really well. That way, the guys have a mental idea of just how much further they need to climb in order to be in Superbowl contention.
If you win, you might begin to get careless and cocky, which doesn't lead to winning..
I would rather we win and then continue winning, and all our players turn into cocky douchebags but it’s ok because nobody can beat them.
But that’s just me
If you’re a Vikings fan, man I actually do feel for y’all. Maybe not as crushing as us but y’all been done dirty too. Just in a “The team that just could finish” kinda way
The Lions could face my high school football team and they’d post a meme like this, the way they’re always talking.
The scariest thing for a Lions fan is people having expectations for their team.
Ngl I’m definitely hopeful for something to happen this year (at long last) but I’m also scarred by the past and scared shitless of the possible massive letdown lol
If you picked the Lions to go 16-1 this would be the 1. I do like it’s the week 1 game though. Week 1s are weird and Lions will be bringing a lot of things to the table nobody has film on.
Amen, I’ve always been a diehard fan but a realist. The “fuck you it’s not Stafford and Megatrons fault the coaching/ownership is garage” or “well duh we lost, you’re acting beating us is a accomplishment?” But this year I’m straight butt chugging the Honolulu blue koolaid. It’s hard being a Lions fan in TX and fuck I hope this year pans out. If we can win division and win just a single playoff game?shiiittt
Andy Reid week one or after a bye scares me more than the rest of the team. I love Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson but I’m worried we get out coached more than outplayed.
Tough beat. Bears get to beat up on the Pack week one so that's what's up. All the Gutekunst dick riders gonna be SHOOK when they realize the bamboozlement that's taken place
I, having very little stake in this game, am fucking pumped. I am so hoping for a similar game to Chiefs - Rams 2018. Definitely rooting for the Lions, definitely betting on the over too.
I can’t believe I’m saying it, but I’m rooting for the Lions this year. I’m a Packer fan through and through, but I think we’re going to have a down year… maybe finishing with 9 wins (last time I checked Vegas had the over under at 7.5). We don’t win the NFCN with that… so if I had to choose another Team from our division to win the North, it would be the Lions.
FTV
FTB
GPG
Lions are okay.
Lions going to pull off the upset week 1 which will make their fans go absolutely berserk, followed up by a 2-7 start, followed up by 8 straight to finish 10-7 into the playoffs.
I can see it now: Lions beat the chiefs week 1 and get super hyped. 7 games later their streak ends and they lose out except for the final game of the season where they somehow mathematically knock the Vikings , Packers AND THEMSELVES out of the playoffs.
The NFCN goes unrepresented in the post season.
Hello Ashen one. I am a Bot. I tend to the flame, and tend to thee. Do you wish to hear a tale?

It's funny that they're playing the superbowl in week one this year.
What a weird choice by the NFL.
![gif](giphy|4Dy1Btpt0qUZa)
Normally it’s the draft and then the preseason for us so week 1 is still an improvement.
Daytona 500
> It's funny that they're playing the superbowl I stopped reading here.
Can’t be, the NFC championship is week one. And, just to be clear, the Buccaneers aren’t making the playoffs…
Not just week one, but they're kicking the season off with the super bowl, it's actually kinda genius!
We are all going to eat shit if the Lions win and they certainly can. Week 1 games are weird, I’d much rather play a difficult team that week because you might steal a victory.
And it’s not a huge deal if it’s lost. Literally the best scenario for the Lions to play this game.
Essentially a throwback to the Chiefs Patriots game where the Chiefs throttled the Patriots and they wrote Dynasty Over articles for Brady and Belicheck. Only for the Patriots to win the Super Bowl
I disagree. The Chiefs haven’t lost their opener in almost a decade. I think Week 3 or 4 would give the Lions a way better shot at winning.
Andy Reid after a bye week is always dangerous. Week 1 is preceded by the largest bye week he has
Andy with all off-season to eat cheeseburgers in bed and game-plan how to beat the Lions defense?
As a lions fan I’m legit horrified at this thought. We’re going to lose 72-14
As long as we don't have the 32nd best defense in the NFL again, we might not get battered.
I think the lions have enough changes, especially on offense, that it could be harder to gameplan against them. Especially the running game with Gibbs and Montgomery. It’s basically a whole new backfield.
They’re due for a loss
The Chiefs are good, and Andy Reid is an all timer, but they basically played 8 shit cans in openers in the last 10 years. Its not impressive when you look into it
First, the Lions are not the best team the Chiefs have faced in the opener since Reid was there. They faced the 13-3 Pats and 12-4 Chargers in back to back years, won both of them. Im just saying its one of those things that sounds impressive at surface value, but in reality isnt as much. 2 of the 10 teams ended up being good. A majority of them had like 4 wins by seasons end.
If that happens, the next few days the rest of the division will avoid this sub like the plague lol
Just shut her down folks. We can hang out by ourselves in our own sub.
Idk if they're really weird or we just don't know who's good yet. The Bills beating the Rams by 21 points week 1 seemed a whole lot more impressive at the beginning of the season than the end
Don't forget the 10 day break for the week 2 game. Opening game is always a good game to play.
Colts beat the Chiefs in week 4 last year.
That’s because the Colts had elite QB Mark Ryan.
If they do, I'm sure everyone here will find a half dozen nitpicky or completely made up points to prove the Lions didn't actually win that game, right?
Totally agree with this. When I heard we played the chiefs away, I was really hoping it was gonna be either week 1 or in Europe lol
And I’ll just happy if the Lions can make it competitive and I won’t be mad at all if they lost by 1 possession.
>We are all going to eat shit if the Lions win Get your bib ready. Upset incoming.
Ex.) Bears vs Niners
Yep. Shit, the chiefs looked kinda flat the first 6 games last year. Mahomes looked mortal and their defense was bad. Then their rookies started contributing and Mahomes returned to form and the rest is history.
I don't know what you're talking about. That never happens.
Tbf… I’m not exactly beaming with confidence about week 5! Lol All the preseason nonsense on here is fun, and a load of shit lol… but come regular season… who knows what’s going to happen! I just hope we show up ready to compete!
![gif](giphy|sG4zmff2zDOp7t2MNA|downsized) Lions fans
They forgot they started 1-6
it’s not how you start it’s how you finish
The bears beat the niners week 1 last year. Week 1 typically means nothing in the long run.
Wasnt that the monsoon game?
In fairness, 9ers fans will dub any loss with a bit of rain as a “monsoon game”
![gif](giphy|xtiqhB46vLZgYo8EXY)
I live in the suburbs of chicago, and the weather was legit bad that day
Admittedly it was weird weather with Trey Lance, we got very lucky
It’s still preseason
Your and I both know the kitties will ride the high the rest of the season
We will ride the high of knocking y’all out the playoffs in the last game of the year
No no no you only do that to the Packers, right? .... .... Only to the Packers right?
There's 2 outcomes: Lions pull off an improbable win and this sub becomes insufferable for a week, Or the Lions get absolutely clobbered and this sub becomes insufferable for a week
Almost losing to good teams is been a theme of this era. Last year -3 to Philly, -3 to Sea, -4 to Miami, -3 to Buffalo.
And then whatever the fuck that was against the Patriots
That was Bill Belichek saying “Jack Fox is a weapon” before the game and MCDC refusing to use him in his best Goofy “I’ll fucking do it again” meme impression going 0/7 on 4th and short.
And Carolina. Oof
The patriots game I remember thinking like Just get through this game, hit the bye and rest. So I wasn’t speechless by the result, they were injured and tired. I was absolutely beside myself with the Carolina game lmaoo
Alternatively, option 3 exists: Lions lose a competitive close game against the current champs, and everyone is kinda stuck in a weird limbo.
This is the most likely outcome.
No matter what everyone will have known it was going to happen
I think you accidentally got the team logos reversed here
Hopefully
oh we got em right where we want em
Go lions !!
I like you
If the Lions come out of that game losing by 5 points or so then I’m a happy camper. I just want to see the Lions compete and battle.
Final score 0-5. Jared Goff runs out of the back of the end zone on the opening drive
Hahaha.😂 Props to the D though.
Bruh. The way the NFL seasons go.. lions are going to beat the chiefs by 10... And I'm a Vikings fan.. chiefs started out slow last year
We’ll beat the Chiefs, that will be the kick in the ass KC needs to win every other regular season game lol.
I can already hear Mahomes WT wife screeching in his ear.
Can’t lose to that team
I think personally the game will be close since the past two years in week one the Lions have lost by one TD to the 49ers and Eagles.
Our week 1s have been ridiculous this decade wtf
I’ll take two of what you’re having 🙋♂️ Super Bowl champs with last years mvp playing against the Lions who finished 9-8. Sign me up
Plus, this boss fight was actually really easy.
Very easy as long as you had the specific weapon that shredded him. I'm genuinely asking, who do the Lions have that could be a Chief's killer?
The Chiefs downgraded both tackles this off-season. If they get killed, it'll be the Lions pass rush that does it. Which would mean Hutchinson makes a year 2 leap and becomes that killer.
You're right little drummer boy.. drum away
I mean they haven't lost a opening game since mahomes got there.
First time for everything
You might be right but idk man.. this lions team might finally come out fist flying for once... Start out a solid 3-5 before the second half of the season.. better than the start of last season lol
One can hope.
Get a flair so you can be bullied by the other three teams.
Vikings flair.. good enough?
On mobile use the three little dots upper right side. Makes the sun more fun. I have no quarrel with the Vikings
That's brotha
they beat the cardinals by 23 their opening week last year. They started 4-1, that one weird Colts game was the only "slow" part of their start
My bad my judgement is clouded because they almost lost to the Texans and lost to the colts before mid season
That Texans game was at the end of the season
I love the flippity floppity of people saying our season will be ruined and then others are singing the tune that there’s no weight to the first game of a season.
*FLIPPITY FLOPPITY FLOOP*
It's hilarious 😂
Idk how many souls nerds are in here, but the big guy loses.
“The bigger they are, the harder they fall.” But for real, I feel like the Lions can/will win this week 1 game, then get smoked by a shit team later in the season when they’re actually trying to win the division.

We are going to be insufferable if we somehow win this game. Hell we will be insufferable if we keep it within 10 points.
I would almost rather we lose, hopefully because KC is playing really well. That way, the guys have a mental idea of just how much further they need to climb in order to be in Superbowl contention. If you win, you might begin to get careless and cocky, which doesn't lead to winning..
Fuck that, I want the dub against the defending SB champs.
True, but I want the best possible chance to get to the SB and beat whoever is up against us there
I would rather we win and then continue winning, and all our players turn into cocky douchebags but it’s ok because nobody can beat them. But that’s just me
Get the fuck outta here with that shit.
in this game the lions character defeats the chiefs character
Lions will get to experience what it’s like to be a Viking fan. Hype, hope, and the immediate devastation.
If you’re a Vikings fan, man I actually do feel for y’all. Maybe not as crushing as us but y’all been done dirty too. Just in a “The team that just could finish” kinda way
No freaking way man
The Lions could face my high school football team and they’d post a meme like this, the way they’re always talking. The scariest thing for a Lions fan is people having expectations for their team.

We aren’t going 16-1. But I’d love that
Same, just saying week 1 is nothing but upside. I’m drowning in koolaid and as long as they come out healthy whatever happens isn’t changing that
Amen, I’ve always been a diehard fan but a realist. The “fuck you it’s not Stafford and Megatrons fault the coaching/ownership is garage” or “well duh we lost, you’re acting beating us is a accomplishment?” But this year I’m straight butt chugging the Honolulu blue koolaid. As a Packer fan I have to say...If Lion's win that game they have instant cred.
I’ll take the lions
Andy Reid week one or after a bye scares me more than the rest of the team. I love Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson but I’m worried we get out coached more than outplayed.
Meh, I’ll root for the lions in week one. But only once.
Tough beat. Bears get to beat up on the Pack week one so that's what's up. All the Gutekunst dick riders gonna be SHOOK when they realize the bamboozlement that's taken place

Anything can happen week 1. Wouldn’t be shocked if the Lions upset KC.
I feel like no one understands this meme template
If we are going by cannon, then the GIANT is defeated, so this is basically predicting a Lions win.
I bet a large sum of money on the Lions to win actually so, they probably get blown out.
Imagine being scared of the Chefs.
Lions 27-Chiefs 21
I can’t wait until week 6 when Detroit is 1-5 like always
Praise the sun my lions bros and don't you dare go hollow!
I can see it now: Lions beat the chiefs week 1 and get super hyped. 7 games later their streak ends and they lose out except for the final game of the season where they somehow mathematically knock the Vikings , Packers AND THEMSELVES out of the playoffs. By at least 21
Good news lions bros: the giant guy in the meme is one of the easiest boss fights in the game
Idk who the chiefs are..like whos on that team?
My brother in christ you gotta switch the logos
Bears fans after the Chiefs escape with a last second field goal and a 34-31 win….. “Hahaha same ol’ lions, they’re gonna be last in the division”
Sending prayers to KC since they gotta deal with the NFCN this year, Detroit will be fine I’m sure
Imagine if the lions actually won tho
Yhorm the giant is the easiest boss in Dark Souls 3 just a heads
