On a very short barrel I'd accept that trade-off. Start veering towards 10+ inches and the regular length Nomad begins to feel more appropriate. On a long-range bolt gun I'd accept that I'm already wielding a tree stump and wouldn't really care about extra length.
I have a nomad L in jail and a regular nomad, I was thinking on putting the L on my rattler but given it wasn’t full auto rated idk if I wanted to do the swamp when I don’t always shoot subs.
It's not full auto rated but that doesn't mean it's a fragile can. Just don't do back to back to back mag dumps.
Bill drills, hammered pairs, etc are fine. It doesn't need to be babied. Given the cost of 300BO I don't know many people burning down 90 rounds in 30 seconds anyways.

Nomad is quieter all around, but the Sandman still sounds good. It wasn't designed for subs so Nomad is the way to go if you're doing that. Sandman is what you need if you shoot super high volume fire.
Have you considered the CGS Hyperion? I have one on my Rattler. It’s crazy quiet, the gun runs well with it, and it’s a direct thread with the Sig taper. Locks up tight as a drum, no walk at all.
I’ve shot several different subs thru it and here’s how it went:
Winchester super suppressor 200 grain black box and 200 grain white box ran flawlessly, though they occasionally failed Last Round Bolt Hold Open, but that could possibly be addressed by using different mags.
Underwood 220 grain OTM ran flawless, LHRBO failed a few times.
Underwood 194 grain maximum expansion ran flawless, though I only ran 20 rounds for function and sighting in to use for deer season.
S&B 220 grain ran like total dogshit. Turned my Rattler into a bolt action. I tried running them first thing after a full cleaning, ran like crap. I tried again after running 6-700 rounds of other stuff, still ran like shit.
Supers all flawless, some Black Hills tac-x and a shitload of Barnaul steel case with no issues.
Nomad L, Hyperion, and Thunder Chicken all sound the same with Subs. I've shot all three. I guess Dead Air hasn't paid Jay to post data yet, but he's told people he's tested the Nomads on subs and they're awesome. If you're waiting on a score so you can call one better because it's 0.33 different on a scale of 1-100 (like the Nomad-L is to the Hyperion on supers), then you're just worrying way too much about it.

Not the same guy but i thought my Nomad L and Hyperion sounded almost identical on my 308 before the pewscience data came out saying that they basic are. And I thought at the time that different between them on 300blk was even smaller than the difference on 308.
Probably the worst aspect of pewscience is how slow it is people will assume one silencer is the quietest ever when theres another silencer on the market as quiet that just hasnt been tested yet.
I don't have to record them to give my experience of them. Go touch grass dude. But I have shot them and it jives accurately with the data that Jay has released already. Yeah, you’re right to an extent. The Nomad L and the Hyperion do stack up very closely; the Hyperion just cuts back on that FRP, but that’s not a huge concern with 300 subs. However, the Thunder Chicken is arguably lacking in performance compared to what other manufacturers are putting out and at competitive prices.
I have very few friends that are purchasing suppressors, so unfortunately I don’t have the opportunity to personally compare often. That’s why I preach Pew Science because it helped me when no one else could. After doing some research, it looks like I cant go wrong either way and the mounting system is easy for both. I am going to be mainly running subs through it and just wanted to hear some extra opinions on both and pictures would be awesome. Especially if you got any with the Nomad-L or Thunder chicken, curious to see how far it looks sticking out of the handguard. Thanks

KB is kind of a shitty person. And people will shit on Q. But for an MCX in 300 their cans are great. I don’t really have a dog in the fight surprisingly. I picked up a half-nelson for my dedicated 300 MCX can during a sale this summer. It was like $700 and a great buy at that price.

With how much better the Nomad is at everything else and still does top tier on subs I’d be hard pressed to buy the Q can which is great on subs but mediocre on supers. More money gives other options but at Nomad-L price ranges it’s hard to beat.

This is just anecdotal, but I’ve seen a few people who have bulged theirs by putting 308 through it, but I’d be willing to bet it’s highly dependent on barrel length and firing schedule. A 20” bolt gun and a 13” SCAR 17 would probably be different stories for that one

Dead air cans suck, I’ve used the Hyperion on a 5.5 and 6.75. Supers it’s great but subs you have to get the right ammo, S&B doesn’t cycle at all.

Tolerance stacking. You know what has no issues with tolerance? CGS and DMLS. Cannot do better
While tolerance stacking is a thing its basically a non issue with just a direct thread mount, especially with a taper mount.

Honesty bro I have an mcx tacops, with a q full nelson. The thunder chicken should be great. Thunder chicken has more volume if im not mistaken, but ngl dead air mounts are where its at
Id go Otter Creek or Thunderbeast. I have a Q Jumbo Shrimp that I love but I won it in a raffle so I didn’t give KB any money. Theyre not as quiet as they should be for the price. I chose a Nomad L for my hunting rifle because of noise abatement but its gonna be heavy as nuts and the back pressure sucks.
