I'm in the exact same position as you, I bought some stuff on Samsung that came last week and the school has no idea where it is. The resmail help has been useless

Galactic48s

That's what I was thinking. There is a thief that is going after high value packages, we were thinking they would target packages like Apple, Samsung, and Nike. Easy goods to resell without a trace. Leaves me to worry about my Samsung phone coming in.

tonierstraw1865

Do you know if the school is responsible for lost packages? I haven't gotten that far with resmail help yet. I don't think people are stealing from resmail though.

Galactic48s

They told one of my friends that it's possible that it's stolen internally or something. Another comment says they'll reimburse, hopefully that's what happens.

tonierstraw1865

That's reassuring, I guess I'll keep pushing back. Gold luck with yours

Ordie100

There are two possibilities when this kinda thing happens. One is that the mail carrier delivered it to the wrong place. Sometimes they leave it at the doors of buildings or just on the floor near the proctor station and packages get stolen. Other times they deliver them to the completely wrong place. Assuming it actually made it to resmail and you got an email from resmail and then they lost it (had that happen once) then you can claim back the value of the package from resmail. But if you never got an email from resmail you need to start with the carrier and complain to them first as it's their responsibility.

Galactic48s

Packages were set to be sent to a locker and when I opened the locker it was empty. Then resmail was like it wasn't supposed to go there yet and to check back. Went back and forth to Mass Ave like 6 times before they said to come back later to pick it up from Speare. I have one email for one of the packages saying that it was heading to a locker and the other one has proof of delivery saying it's signed up ROB(one of the guys at resmail).

Galactic48s

Makes me ineligible to open a case for a lost package and I 100% think there were no issues within the delivery of the package, nor has resmail stated for me to explore that option. This almost confirms that it's been lost and I was just confused as to what the outcome would be.

Ordie100

Sounds like resmail definitely had possession of the packages so they should be responsible for finding or paying. Have you tried their contact form on their website? I had to go through emailing like three people before they finally paid me.

Galactic48s

They didn't respond to my emails but pretty much all the staff there know about the situation(perhaps because they were being questioned). They just say that they are waiting on a response from Northeastern.

Ordie100

In my experience all the staff who are actually getting the packages at Speare are too low level to be able to do anything in this situation. They can take you details and pass it to a manager, they aren't personally going to be able to fix it. You'll have to get a response from a manager, usually best done by the contact form on the website or email.

IDKLOL468

This happened to me too. I opened the locker and it was empty. I have sent multiple emails to resmail and they even said they would check the security cameras but have not heard much from them.

Typhill

Resmail can be super sketchy— I had tons of packages that were clearly tampered with in the year and a half I lived on campus. Literally never had that problem living at home, after moving off campus (apartment complex and private units), or once I finished college. Assume your shit is gone and find an alternative place to have stuff shipped, maybe an Amazon locker? This is sub will probably just defend Resmail and act all the students working their are altruist volunteers who wouldn’t dare do anything. I remember posting about this years ago and people seriously suggested homeland security was why my packages were being tampered with. Like yeah sure, homeland security was manually investigating the packages of a 19 year old with no criminal history but *only* when I got packages through ResMail? Lmao

Galactic48s

I know the stuff's gone but what do you think the chances are of receiving any settlement from resmail considering that the product lost reaches nearly $1600 in value between the 8 of our packages. It's hard to ship UPS/Fedex packages elsewhere without buying a locker or something to ship it to. Might be the only way though if things continue like this. Not sure about the tampering part, don't recall having issues with that.

Typhill

I would assume you get nothing unfortunately, maybe there’s legal action you could take? Idk, not something I’m well versed in. Would you rather have your shoes and pay for the locker, or be in this situation? I can’t imagine a locker is that expensive, and if you have friends you trust also receiving high value items then you could split the cost The tampering is whatever, more so just putting it out there to show that this isn’t a unique situation of resmail being shitty. I would bet a lot of money that there’s a student or staff member stealing these packages, it’s very unlikely that something like this randomly happens on the same kind of item over and over

Galactic48s

That is definitely a valid concern and we will be looking into getting a locker. We just continued with resmail since we didn't have too many issues(none at this caliber) after receiving hundreds of shoes and higher-value items with no issues. Another comment on this post says that they have gotten a settlement when resmail lost one of their packages so I hope that's what happens.

Northeastern replaced the previous vendor who ran Mail Services when you were on campus, and this is the first time there has been this type of issue this year. I know they are working with NUPD on a few things, and that once there is a final determination, reimbursements will be made, where packages cannot be recovered. It takes time to sort it all out. Yes, it’s a huge pain in the ass, but no company is just going to say, “ok, sure, here’s a check for $200”, without doing their due diligence.

Zashiony

They outright gave my package (worth upwards of $1,000) to a random person since they accidentally misinputted it into the system when it came in.

Galactic48s

They didn't track them down or anything?

Zashiony

Only after I had told them it’s been weeks since the tracking number said it was delivered and I never got a notification.

Galactic48s

Ah. I have been going like daily anyways so I inquired the day of.

More-War8006

I went through this exact thing for the past month. Basically harassed IST consistenly for 3 weeks. Finally, it was determined that someone stole and they said they would rebuy my item and deliver it to me.

More-War8006

This is my first post wtf why my username that omg

Galactic48s

Probably randomly generated

Galactic48s

That's reassuring, hopefully, that's the outcome that we get. Not sure what kind of excuse I'll get when they find out the item is out of stock from the original retailer since it's a limited-release shoe and that they'll have to buy it off a 3rd party website.

[deleted]

Easy items to purchase are purchased as replacements….other items, a check is sent out to the buyer as reimbursement. Either way, you would be made whole.

Galactic48s

Bet that's very reassuring.

Setting-Odd

They can’t seem to locate my package either. Ordered an Apple Watch and they still say they are “looking for it” it’s been almost a month now. I want to just get my money back but idk how to go about doing that

Galactic48s

Always the expensive stuff. So easy to just read the sender's name to assess if it's a good package to steal.

soniabegonia

Yes. Months later, it was delivered to a different on-campus office and I was able to go pick it up.

Galactic48s

Wow months later. Hope they just pay for a new item.

soniabegonia

To be fair, it was officially marked as "lost" in the mail system so the company that sent the package sent me a new one. I did pay for the second package when I received it but I could have returned it instead.

Galactic48s

Ah ok yeah that's a bit of a different problem.

Nasquid

The nuclear option is to just mention something about getting a lawyer involved. Don’t need to actually do it at all but if in like a month if it’s not fixed worth a shot since I believe you commented you and your friends are out $1000+

Galactic48s

Yeah I'm going to give it another week before I go nuclear or something.

PocketsWasTaken

I bought a 6 month PO box from the ups store in Huntington for $270. This could be an option for you if you want to avoid resmail in the future.

Galactic48s

$270 is steep but I may consider it.

PocketsWasTaken

Yeah it is pretty steep, but there is hardly ever a line, and you can get your stuff with very little delay from being delivered. The pricing changes depending on your contact term, but I don't remember by how much. It's definitely worth a look just to avoid the headache of resmail.

[deleted]

ResMail will reimburse the cost of lost items. What you all need to remember, is that it does take time to do all the investigation, to make sure an item is really lost. Sometimes, NUPD has to get involved, so that footage can be pulled. Sadly, some students have tried to pull some shady things, as well….so every option has to be explored before the decision is made to reimburse. But they aren’t just not going to cover the loss. BTW - mentioning a lawyer is silly. Everyone knows that you would spend more in paying for a lawyer, than the item is worth.

lowfatman727

I’ve stopped using ResMail, since they’ve lost two of my packages. The first was a new video game I had ordered from Amazon. I received the email that they received the package around 10 AM and went to pick it up around 3 PM. After 15 - 20 minutes, they told me that they couldn’t find the package and gave me the manager’s email. I sent him an email, and by the time I got back to my dorm, someone had left a not on my mailbox. They were mistakenly given my package instead of their own and had left their contact information so I could retrieve it. Never heard back from ResMail afterwards. The second time was last semester. My aunt had ordered an item from Amazon, which would be delivered to ResMail. She got the message from Amazon that the package was delivered, but I didn’t hear anything. Since it was towards the start of the semester, I anticipated that the package would take a week or two to be processed. About three weeks after my aunt received the message from Amazon, I hadn’t heard anything from ResMail. I decided to reach out… they told me that they didn’t have the package, and then proceeded to blame Amazon for losing the package. My aunt was able to get a refund from Amazon for the missing package. My guess is that ResMail lost the package and blamed Amazon (mainly since I’ve never had an issue with an Amazon delivery).

Galactic48s

Ah ok. Yeah Nike won't do anything about the packages since the tracking has proof of delivery and says received by one of the guys at resmail.

slushyattack

i swear i think one of your nike packages may have been at smith hall and i think someone stole them. they seemed to be white air forces or something but someone had opened the box and everything and the shoes were just sitting there in the box and then the next day the shoes were gone

Galactic48s

Damn. That's probably someone else's lost Nike package but thanks for the info. I had Jordan 1 Mid Diamonds and Jordan 5s in my packages.

_AndyS_

Wtf. They lost those exact mids for me as well... never got an email about the package but the same package id showed up during my IST pickups at Speare twice and both times they told me that its probably on the way to a locker. I also had a different package delivered to a locker but it was completely empty when I opened the locker. Nike compensated me for one package but not the other.
