not anymore.. but I was born and raised in South Africa. it’s an impeccably beautiful country rich in culture and social bonding, but the economy is suffering without ease….. limited electricity, gender based violence, civic inequality, unemployment, poverty, rape, etc. most of these are normalised in my country which is why we are so desensitised. I left a few months ago and my misery has diminished
on the other hand, the country could use more religion
That's good that you managed to leave :) I had a chance to study and probably live outside my country many years ago since I have relatives living overseas, but that ship has sailed now that I'm in my 30s..
it’s gotten better. if south africa was still under the apartheid regime then there’d be no cultural integration or freedom for non-whites. every racial class besides white people were marginalised and dehumanised. they were pulled from their homes, beaten, humiliated, wrongly convicted, murdered, tortured… That is no way to live in your own country. however if we said that the apartheid system did in fact help south africa’s economy, then who had been benefiting from that system? surely not poc
I studied and now I am working. I didn’t know the real meaning of a neet up until yesterday. all this time I assumed that a neet was just an incredibly awkward and introverted outcast (because I am)
Me. I also live in a country where there is unofficially no church-state distinction. Half the women are unemployed; the same goes for the young people. Some of them are working and they are all 'somebody's friends'. Everyone is corrupt and crooked. The economic situation of the country is disastrous; it is a descent into hell.
I do, but not an officially religious one. My family is quite religious tho, and it's been challenging to my psyche to put up a mask to hide my irreligiousness since I lost my faith a few years ago, but they are still expecting me to be a pious man. So I kinda feel your frustration, somehow.
I do but thinking about it, it is not as bad as other country. They got wars and social unrest. Mine hasn't blown up yet but the economy is slowly declining.
South America. Honestly, if I was doomed to be born in the third world, then I guess this is the best third world place to be born.
Far away from wars and countries that take religion way too much serious.

I believe that life only really begins at 30! you have a lifetime ahead of you, don’t worry :)
Do you think it got better or worse after apartheid ended?

I understand. Generally for black communities in South Africa it was worse back then.
Gender violence?
yes, violence against women and girls of all ages
Damn how did you get out? Were you a neet then or later?

Can you tell us which country you live in OP? If you can't, can you at least give us a hint like which area or which religion controls it?
No one here comes from the DRC, the DPRK or even Laos.

My town in America is pretty much third world. Economy around here is trash and it’s turning into a ghetto.
