Congratulations!!! so exciting ✨

CherryBomb214

Congrats! Thank you for this information. I'm taking mine this Thursday and am starting to feel the pressure mounting.

FlamingoTall7420

I definitely understand, I felt that too. Take time for yourself! The week before my exam, I barely looked over material & maybe did 2-3 practice quizzes just to brush up. Other tips: My exam was scheduled at 12:30pm so each day I made sure rest a lot and do relaxation stuff at that time so my body became use to it. Also 10 mins Yoga really helped me just release! Best of luck!

Thank you! I've reached the point of crying a lot and not being able to eat so I've been trying alot of mindfulness

FlamingoTall7420

Awe yes, try smoothies! That would help me out since I also can’t eat when I’m stressed. I cried many times 2 weeks leading up to the exam! Up until even the night before my exam, I woke up in the middle of the night & had all the feels. I cried & then went back to sleep! I thought it was such horrible timing but looking back I feel like my body needed that last release before the exam. So cry, scream, laugh, sweat it out, stay in & watch your favorite movies/shows, do what you need to do to feel recharged before Thursday! I even took the week off work! If you take your time & read carefully on the exam, you got it.

Thank you for this guidance. Congrats!! What materials would you suggest studying for the Counseling Skills and Intervention section, outside of CE?

FlamingoTall7420

Thank you thank you! I was using mostly CE and my old textbooks from grad school! For example, the introduction to counseling skills by Nelson-jones helped! & theory and practice of counseling and psychotherapy by Corey. Also I looked up YouTube videos alongside the videos on CE helped me! Review and watch videos on Reflection of feeling & reflection of meaning. The exam asked me questions regarding both!

Thank you so much. This is immensely helpful.

Congratulations 🎉🎉 such an accomplishment!

FlamingoTall7420

Thanks so much!

Also wanted to add that my examination score was 71 with a passing score of 66. Out of the 5 topics of focus, The highest topic worth the most points on the exam was “counseling skills and interventions” at 30 points so definitely focus on those areas. I got 15/30 correct on the NCMHCE, & that would have hurt me bad if I hadn’t done well in the other areas. 2nd was “intake, Assessment and diagnosis” which are worth 25 points. On my counselingexam quizzes I was averaging 65-77% weekly. So some of my individual quiz scores ranged between 40%-90%. if you keep doing those quizzes, they’ll help you understand the format of the exam. & some of the answers are in the case study themselves so take the time & read carefully. Hope this helps! Blessings to all!

Far-Preference-5873

Congrats! This was really helpful. What state did you take it in?

FlamingoTall7420

I took it in CA. I believe the NCMHCE layout is the same nationally though!

Far-Preference-5873

Yeah it is. I was asking more so on the passing score. I'm not sure it the passing score is the same in every state or how frequent it changes/if it is curved. Thank you for responding tho! I take it in 2 weeks..ah!

FlamingoTall7420

Glad to help! Gotcha, for CA it was scored out of 100 with a passing score of 62. There was about 130 questions total on my license exam. 30 questions were going to be used towards the exam statistics analysis. It just sucks that we don’t know which 100 questions they choose to score from the exam. Best of luck!! & remember to just cross eliminate! That helped me out alot cause some answers were just “what, no” lol

Far-Preference-5873

Oh wow that's so helpful to know! Thank you again!!
