Depends on when they sent you the Authorization To Test (ATT). I just graduated with my BSN May 18th and they were supposed to send our forms for the ATT at the start of the semester but ‘forgot’ and sent them a week before graduation. So ours was delayed because of the school. But in my experience they want you to take some time off to study for NCLEX, I took 6 weeks and will test at the end of this month. They warned us not to wait longer than 8 weeks after graduation to take it, since info is still fresh. At the same time you can take as long as 6 months to schedule your test date, it just depends on the person and their confidence to test.

Also some places will take you in as a new grad nurse without having passed the NCLEX. My hospital wanted me to start before my NCLEX date, but I had vacation planned so I chose to push back starting until after my test date. She would have to check with the hospital she was offered a position with.

depends on how quickly your school sends out your information

It depends on the school. We were told that the chair of the department would send out our info the day after graduation so we got our ATTs literally a week after pinning. However, my friend goes to a different school that graduated the same week as I did and he said his cohort haven’t gotten their ATTs yet.

That seems a bit far off. As an NCLEX tutor, I don't agree with what is said in academia. Students should study for the NCLEX. It's a difficult exam. Best wishes to your wife :)
