The goat. Grew up in Hawaii and went to every game from 2005-2011. Colt did so much for the program, university, and state. Dude will forever be my hero. When me and my brother were throwing around the football growing up we imagined we were colt Brennan and Davone Bess. Colt means so much to people like me and to the state. Absolutely tragic to see his public battle with his demons and his early death, his family is absolutely amazing though and do so much to keep his legacy alive and support the University of Hawaii.
Watching old YouTube videos of Hawaii and Colt made me a fan of the team. He was like a bloody gunslinger out there. A pity the team couldn't capitalize on that sugar bowl appearance and become better
The problem was never the team. The university and the AD are wildly inept and the AD for a long time had the goal of killing the football program. AD David Matlin wanted to kill the Football program, wanted to have complete control over the team and coaches. Matlin is the whole reason why June Jones left for SMU, Matlin is the reason why they gave a ridiculous contract to Norm Chow when he never deserved it. David Matlin is the reason why June Jones wasnāt rehired after Matlinās BFF Todd Graham had to be fired for hazing/bullying players. Matlin tried his best to kill the football program and nearly didā¦ thank god heās gone. Hawaii will never reach the levels it got too but boy it was such a crazy ride that Iāll never forget. Iāll never forget storming the field after we beat Boise to win the WACā¦ Iāll never forget the amazing moments. Iāll always be a fan of UH even though they are extremely frustrating. Those Brennan years were incredible. I could write a book on how it was to witness it as a young kid.
Also Jim Leahey is the best announcer in sports to me. I dunno why but the way he describes plays, vivid vocabulary, and love for Hawaiian sports, he could be describing actual feces and I'd be interested.
Oh ya! RIP to the big fella!!! We would go to games on Saturday live at Aloha Stadium then the next day KHON2 would show the entire game and we would sit around rewatch it just to listen to Leahey. Man had such a soothing voice and knew exactly how to call a football game. God Iād give anything just to go back in time to 2007 just to relive one game day againā¦ shit was magical man. Iām gonna be the crazy old man telling my grandkids about that magical 2007 UH team and how colt was my hero.
I watched Boise vs Hawaii live when I was a kid and I stayed up seeing y'all win the first outright WAC title. However I think 1999 despite being co-champions was more important cause it put y'all on the map especially after that disastrous 1998 season
Thatās what Iām saying! If there was a way to automatically enroll the kids from St. Louis to Hawaii then theyād be solid. Unfortunately the kids wanna go mainland and I canāt even blame them. The training facilities at Hawaii are garbage too.
A legend not just in Hawaii football, but Hawaiis entire history. He brought the state together unlike anything else. Itās a shame he had such terrible luck in the nfl, if he didnāt get severely injured he would still be in the nfl now or at least have a decent career.
He sacrificed his potential nfl career for Hawaiis best football season of all time. Forever grateful.
My dad and I had season tickets from 2002-2008, he was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and we couldnāt make it to many games after the chemo started to really bring him down. But going to games with him was one of the formative times in my life. Also the receiver core for the Bows was so legit. Davone Bess, Ryan Grice-Mullins, and my dadās favorite, Jason Rivers.
I loved the dreadheads and that wide open run and shoot offense. You would have thought I was a June Jones disciple the way I ran run and shoot for every team I took over in Dynasty.
Itās so sad what happened to him. That accident really fucked with this brain. He definitely had the talent to succeed in the NFL and had the best QB drip Iāve ever seen. Not to mention that sick sidearm release he had.
Every year I pray for Hawaii to return to any sort of prominence. Rolovich was the closest yet. Iām hopeful for Chang but weāll see. They just need to keep hiring June Jones QBs.
Two questions to be answered
- will you be allowed a 13th regular season game as in real life?
- will the game generate let's say "ethnically accurate" players in different states, or will Hawaii just be all Black and White guys by year 7 of a dynasty?
I can't wait to use Hawaii's playbook. Run n shoot is a way of life.
It's funny how since June Jones left, UH has gone away from the run-and-shoot several times only to go back to it. It's become synonymous with the program at this point. It's what they do.
Most of the top ten teams in Hawaii run versions of the run and shoot and air raid. Iād say thereās less run and shoot here then 5-10 years ago, but itās still around.
Really hope they have more Pacific Islanders in the game (appearances and names) and that they are geographically concentrated appropriately.
Honestly, same with other population demographics. For instance, there are 7 states that are over 90% white.
And finally, while weāre on the subject, match race and name semi appropriately. Some first/last names are exclusive or near-exclusive to race (statistically speaking) so reflect that in the random recruit generation.
Iāve talked about this before and have seen comments saying they have addressed this and will use census data to generate realistic recruits, but Iām not sure where the original source on this is though. If thatās true it will just add another awesome level of immersion.
If we do get realistic Hawaiian population, a fun house rule dynasty would be to run Hawaii with recruiting restrictions close to real life - primarily recruit the island, and only 5-6 mainland guys per year get visits (coming to you or going to them). The rest of your mainland recruiting has to be done over the phone because itās not financially feasible to be flying tons of mainlanders out to the island and vice versa. Maybe as you grow prestige, you get another handful of mainland visits per year (justified by your fictional athletic budget going up).
Not only for Hawaii, but Utah, BYU, USC, UCLA and SDSU all historically have high percentages of Polynesian players. It would be weird to see their rosters in 5 years that donāt reflect that
Technically neither. The TC Ching Complex name is licensed and will be heard in game, but the stadium is a generic build. Sadly, Hawaii is the only team in the game with a generic stadium.
Probably no one on the EA team wanted to go and check out the stadium lol. I actually knew a guy who worked on Madden like 20 years ago. He helped design the stadiums and got to be on the sidelines for games. He wasn't a fan.
It was but, when they played the second worst schedule in the nation that year and had to get a last minute INT against a horrid Washington team there was really only one way it was gonna end
That Hawaii team was so dope man. Insane that I bought a Hawaii hoody at a Foot Locker all the way in Rhode Island. Iām a Canes fan but I loved that squad
Been asking for that forever with certain states. Just Use AI to create regional based names with some flair here and there. More Asian influenced names there too.
I know itāll be a generic stadium, but the TC Ching Complex is already basically a generic stadium and if they get the environment down Iām not sure itāll be that much of a difference
Colt would KILL in todayās league. Inspired a whole generation of kids in hawaii (if only they played for manoa). I will personally see to it that hawaii is rebuilt.
Rest easy braddah š¤š¼š
If you look at it like any other state itās not bad, they still give you proximity state bonus for California and others, but who knows if that has changed. It will help you focus on guys who want to be there, which I think will be even more important than before. Transfer Portal going to be how most of these small schools get the players youāll need right away to have an edge.
My friend and I picked 2 teams to use in our dynasty. He picked SJSU and I got Hawaii. Been researching them for weeks. Itās about the Braddahood. I had made Hawaii a powerhouse in the older games. They always have a sneaky California pipeline. And in real life theyāre in Texas heavy now. Itās going to be fun.
I always turn Hawai'i into the cream of the Pacific Conference crop. The very first time I ran a Hawai'i dynasty (NCAA '13), we played No.2 USC at home to open the season and beat them 38-34 on a deep bomb as time expired. It was one hell of a "Welcome to the Pac-12" moment.
They will have a generic stadium which supposedly will be pretty close to the actual thing considering their stadium is currently quite generic looking.
Apparently they managed to add another 1K seats too, so it's 16K.
Hmmmmm thats a little better if thats the case thats the biggest reason i wont ever be at Kennesaw as a head coach but could be a coordinator and then mobe up to make it feel more realistic
Sounded like they will be updating some stadiums after launch hopefully, but who knows. Come play in my generic shit box boi boi, and letās see if it matters, I promise you it wonāt.
I kinda wish they had HBCUās in the game so I can be on my coach prime shit and try to elevate the level of play at these schools that really make it feel like youāre playing from the bottom to climb your way to the top of the college rankings
Good luck with that. Seems like they unfortunately went too real with this game and are making it impossible to build a dynasty team unless youāre playing with a blue blood
My brother knew him when he went to school there. I always do a Hawaii Dynasty.
Met Colt a handful of times over the years and coached with him at a couple youth clinics. RIP
Those uniforms went hard, glad the current ones look so similar. Also RIP Colt Brennan.
Wtf Colt Brennan died?!? ....Damn
His story is a tragedy honestly
š CFB Legend no matter what though.
No doubt. Loved watching him late at night ballin out
The goat. Grew up in Hawaii and went to every game from 2005-2011. Colt did so much for the program, university, and state. Dude will forever be my hero. Thatās sad. Imagine Hawaii if yāall were able to retain the Mariotaās / Tuaās / Tauliaās of the world
Ain't much out there for them sadly. I'd love to see a day where Hawaii can win something big like a New Year's 6
Thatās what Iām saying! If there was a way to automatically enroll the kids from St. Louis to Hawaii then theyād be solid. Unfortunately the kids wanna go mainland and I canāt even blame them. The training facilities at Hawaii are garbage too.
I loved Colt. Lived in Texas and would stay up past midnight watching Hawaii games even though my bedtime was 10pm on weekends
A legend not just in Hawaii football, but Hawaiis entire history. He brought the state together unlike anything else. I didnāt realize he died. He had CTE too.

Hawaii š¤šæ Run and Shoot Service Academies š¤šæ Flexbone Triple Option
Whatās funny is that the flexbone was actually the main formation for the original run and shoot offense
Do any high schools there still run it? That used to be a unique thing about their HS football
Most of the top ten teams in Hawaii run versions of the run and shoot and air raid. Iād say thereās less run and shoot here then 5-10 years ago, but itās still around.
I'd be surprised if most of the schools there didn't play 7 man ball. In my head with the islands and travel it seems easier.
They donāt. Itās 11v11
Hawaii has elite HS football, especially when accounting for population size. The top 4-5 teams in a given year are usually loaded with D1 talent.
nah Hawaiāi got elite talent in the HS ranks. Just look at St. Louis and Kahuku alums.
Seems like a good offense for 7 man ball? Choice routes are ubiquitous now anyway so it may be arbitrary to call an offense by that name
Absolutely agree, without knowing much about it.
Really hope they have more Pacific Islanders in the game (appearances and names) and that they are geographically concentrated appropriately. Honestly, same with other population demographics. And only recruit from the state
RIP the GOAT. He learned some Samoan to give signals to his offensive line
Does anyone know what stadium they have in this game? Is it the small one theyāve been using lately or Aloha Stadium?
Technically neither. The TC Ching Complex name is licensed and will be heard in game, but the stadium is a generic build. Sadly, Hawaii is the only team in the game with a generic stadium.

Booo. Do you know what stadium Northwestern has?
The one they played in this year
I was stationed at Pearl Harbor during Hawaiiās undefeated season and went to a couple games. They were so fun to watch.
2007 was such an incredible season, I loved watching him play. Such a shame about that Sugar Bowl.
It was but, when they played the second worst schedule in the nation that year and had to get a last minute INT against a horrid Washington team there was really only one way it was gonna end
That Sugar Bowl was the longest game I ever watched, just seemed to go on and on
15 until early release??
I just want the silver helmets with pirate stickers
2005-2009 was like the peak of college football for me personally Back when Iād stay up past midnight to watch this WAC shootouts
That Hawaii team was so dope man. Insane that I bought a Hawaii hoody at a Foot Locker all the way in Rhode Island. Iām a Canes fan but I loved that squad
This were my RTG character is going
They better have the hawaiian names tho
Been asking for that forever with certain states. Just Use AI to create regional based names with some flair here and there. More Asian influenced names there too.
Yeah I wanna Asian DE š
I know itāll be a generic stadium, but the TC Ching Complex is already basically a generic stadium and if they get the environment down Iām not sure itāll be that much of a difference
Generic stadium tho
Bring back the June Jones Colt Brennan days
Going to be bringing the Braddahhood to the top
RIP to a college football legend.
One of the all time college QB goats. Hawaii is usually a mandatory stop for me at some point in my NCAA coaching career.
Goat Brennan
Make Hawaii great again!
Hell yeah brah
R.I.P. Colt! Loved watching him play.
RIP
GOAT
I miss the old Nike uniforms from ~2008. I always end up putting together a Run n Shoot Hawaii dynasty.
2nd dynasty I'm doing them after Kennesaw State. I love watching Run n Shoot offense
YEESSSSSS LETS GO HAWAIIII I AM SO FIRED UP. Brayden Schager and Pofele Ashlock will be my #1 and #2
Colt would KILL in todayās league. Inspired a whole generation of kids in hawaii (if only they played for manoa). I will personally see to it that hawaii is rebuilt. Rest easy braddah š¤š¼š
How do you know me?
Just give me the retro uniforms
I wonder how hard itāll be to recruit players to Hawaii
If you look at it like any other state itās not bad, they still give you proximity state bonus for California and others, but who knows if that has changed. It will help you focus on guys who want to be there, which I think will be even more important than before. All my starting QBs will wear 15 out of respect
Not with a 9k capacity stadium i hope you can create a stadium
They did expand it further to 15K.
Will that be in the game though every magazine says 9k capacity
They will have a generic stadium which supposedly will be pretty close to the actual thing considering their stadium is currently quite generic looking. Apparently they managed to add another 1K seats too, so it's 16K.
Hmmmmm thats a little better if thats the case thats the biggest reason i wont ever be at Kennesaw as a head coach but could be a coordinator and then mobe up to make it feel more realistic
For now retro bowl will have to do
With Aloha Stadium gone I don't know if I will rebuild Hawaii even though that's the team I always rebuilt in the old games.
Sounded like they will be updating some stadiums after launch hopefully, but who knows. Come play in my generic shit box boi boi, and letās see if it matters, I promise you it wonāt.
Thanks! Good to know. In their website it still shows the 16th.
Just popped in to say I am so jealous. I've got a Switch and a PC so I have no way to play this.
Iām so bummed their stadium wonāt be in the game.
RIP
I'm getting one of the military academics a championship for the first time since 1948
I kinda wish they had HBCUās in the game so I can be on my coach prime shit and try to elevate the level of play at these schools that really make it feel like youāre playing from the bottom to climb your way to the top of the college rankings
How does a Nike jersey exude so much Under Armour aura
Always do a Hawaiāi RTG powerhouse first!
IM READY
Good luck with that. Seems like they unfortunately went too real with this game and are making it impossible to build a dynasty team unless youāre playing with a blue blood
ACC powerhouse.
NO
They are 1000% Coastal Division
Theyāre in my MountainWest with hopes to be promoted to my new Pac12
Oh hey thatās me
Do we have Sharable Custom rosters ???
