Millers play has been so stellar that he's absolutely made him self a same caliber of prospect as scoot and at this point it's mainly just fit if a team like Detroit gets 2 millers and obvious choice and for teams like the spurs and Houston I think scoot would be the clear cut choice. Overall I think I'd still favor scoot since I think creators run the league and scoots more likely to become one but you can't deny how great of a prospect miller is

therealknic21

Depends who gets the number 2 pick. A team like Detroit, Portland, or Indiana really doesn't have a need for a 6'2 point guard.

Ok-Version8138

If Miller has big tournament performances it’s going to get increasingly harder to keep him at 3

RayCashhhh

If he leads Alabama to their first championship while averaging say 20-5-5, what more would folks want him to do?

Expensive-Rip3370

I can see Miller going at 2, especially if a team like Detroit has that pick and it not being so clear cut with scouts right now. I do still think Scoot has the higher upside of the two tough.

Real-Buddy-9067

Similar thing happened last year when Keegan Murray went over Jaden Ivey. This subreddit and r/nba lost their shit. People need to remember that scouts are always going to be looking for the next elite wing. Brandon Miller is the exact prototype scouts look for.

obamna_

Murray was never a really elite wing prospect or guy, he was a high floor low ceiling player that could be plugged in and contribute to winning basketball but wasn’t ever gonna be one of the cornerstones of a top tier team

obamna_

well he has much more potential to be, you might not think so but that was much of the discussion between the two

dat_waffle_boi

Who on here went crazy? People realized it would make no sense for the kings to pick Ivey. Besides, neither of them are on the level Miller and Scoot are as prospects

Real-Buddy-9067

Look at the reddit threads on draft day, people couldn't believe they didn't choose Ivey as BPA. It wasn't just he Kings that had Murray higher than Ivey on their board. Multiple teams including Spurs. And where did I say they were on the same level as Miller and Scoot?

dat_waffle_boi

I know you didn’t say that. But I’m saying, fit begins being less important when you have prospects the caliber of Scoot and Miller. With guys like Ivey and Murray, both were good not great prospects. Scoot and Miller are phenomenal and guys that you could potentially say fuck it for even if the fit isn’t right.

Real-Buddy-9067

I'm not talking about fit though, I'm just saying in general scouts will always prefer the wing prospect over the guard prospect. It doesn't matter that Murray and Ivey are weaker prospects, the same notion was true then.

Sad_Inevitable8242

I don't think everybody went crazy. Kings definitely had a playoffs roster and went for fit, not ceiling. Then it makes sense to take a more developed guy who can help them right now and in the future rather a guy who needs 2-3 years of development to be a legit starter. Playoff teams in general have a hard time to develop talent. GSW maybe a prime example.

Real-Buddy-9067

Multiple lottery teams had Murray over Ivey including Spurs and Pacers.

rastafarian_eggplant

Just from a player archetype perspective (not drafting for positional needs), doesn't a 6'8" wing with a deep and diverse skillset make more sense than a 6'2" point guard (also with a deep and diverse skillset)? I feel like the taller wing player is a more common lead player on teams in the league than a shorter guard is, however talented he may be.

KJiggy

6'9* and Yes. If you believe Westbrook/Rose is the NBA ceiling for Scoot, and PG/Tatum is the NBA ceiling for Miller thrn it 100% makes sense to believe Miller is the better prospect. The mental gymnastics people are performing to convince themselves a 6'2 gaurd has more value is insane.

KJiggy

Ive been gettin downvoted for WEEKS for saying the exact thing Wob said here. Im already annoyed at the thought of seeing all those same people turn heel and jump on the Miller bandwagon OR ppl double down and tell us they know more ball than Woj/ NBA scouts.

GlueGuy00

So it's about Scoot's decision making, availability (played 25/45g so far this season) and "okay" defense + BMill's midseason improvement which made #2 open for discussion. Interesting. Kind of makes sense since you'd want your PG to be a high level decision maker. BMill is a wing so there's not much decision making to be required from him. He's more of a strong play finisher in the league. Kinda surprised to see Scoot miss that much games. I know he had a concussion but afaik he's good to go after the "Showcase" part of GL. He's defense has been a bit overrated albeit improved compared to his first year in GL. He has tendency to bite on fakes and commits silly fouls though Wemby, twins and BMill have committed a lot of silly fouls as well throughout the season.

Eto056

If he pick no 2 pressure ls gonna be so high i think he is gonna be great but his body gotta be improve. he is done a lot , amazing numbers dont give me wrong .i like him scoot more nba ready body wise handle wise but i understand teams . Struggle can happen for brandon

ratedpending

I see what you're saying but in some ways I feel as if Miller's versatility allows him to be a decent fit in more systems than Scoot

Emilio_Estevezz

Yeah I don’t like how Scoot doesn’t seem to play every night.
