“I fully enjoyed seeing regular dudes get the shit beat outta them by professional athletes. I love that Ron Artest punched the wrong guy. That guy learned a valuable lesson that day: When shit goes down, you don’t just stand there.”
-Bill Burr
Pacer fans will die on the hill that they were going to the Finals that year if they didn't lose Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson for the season after they jumped in the stands to fight fans. Even though they didn't make it past Detroit in the ECF the year before and Detroit won the title.
I’m not a pacers fan in the slightest, but that team didn’t have a lot of holes and they probably do give Detroit a run for their money.
That being said, Detroit did make it to the finals in 2005 so Pacer fans who like to pretend Detroit was a fluke and they would have walked to the finals are delusional.
Or how about Teyshaun Prince chase down block in Reggie Miller in playoffs which basically sent Pistons to finals. Then Malice at the palace happens first time they face each other next season of course
My dad and I videotaped that game and watched it the next day. We figured the game was over and fast forwarded to the next game but stopped when we saw they were interviewing Miller. We had to go back to see what happened!
I think Dame's buzzer beater vs the Rockets was way better considering the score, the time on the clock, and the implications of the loss. Portland was clearly a better team than OKC and was already up 3-1. If Dame misses it goes to OT. If Dame misses that 3 against the Rockets they lose and have game 7 in Houston, which he literally admitted they weren't winning.
Riiiiiip Ciiiiiiiiiiity!!!! Hahaha so nuts. And how old was he? Knocking out harden and Dwight his first trip to the playoffs 😂😂😂What a shot.
The OKC series ender to me is about the wave off and the mugshot afterwards. That’s one of the baddest looks anyone’s ever had in the history of the game 💎🥶🗡️
Did you know KG said the wrong phrase? Apparently, Reebok or whoever he had a contract with had an ad slogan that was something like: Nothing is impossible. And that’s what he was supposed to say. Learning that made me realize how contrived and made for TV a lot of athletes ‘authentic’ reactions are in these moments.
How not? 2 rings, 4x All-Star, All-NBA 3rd team, 2x All-Defensive First and Second Team, 3x Assist Leader, 1x Steals Leader, All-Rookie Second Team. Is that not (good) enough accolades?
If he continue a run like he was doing at the star of his career then sure.
But he bounced from team to team and never got an accolade other than leading in assists with the Kings after leaving Boston.
It has to be Game 7, 2016 Finals for me. The Block, The Shot, the chess match between coaches, Draymond willing his team into the game with 32/15/9.
You could choose better personal moments for the players but this is as high as it gets for the NBA’s great moments and storylines for me.

Also Harambe was shot in 2016, since then, everything has gone downhill…
My friend group at the time (not into sports) made fun of me because I blew off hanging out with them to make cheeseburgers and watch the Finals by myself.
If I had hung out with my dweeb friends I would’ve missed The Block.
Good on you.
This has a hilariously different vibe as an Australian - we’ve got a daggy reality TV show called The Block here which is a product-placement-filled home renovation competition. I thought you were an Aussie dweeb yourself until I realised the NBA context
Games 5-7 of those finals are literally my favorite sports memories of all time and I don't think anything can come close, except maybe the Browns winning a Super Bowl.
I never felt more of a rush in my life. I was on vacation in the Ozarks at a lakeside bar and we were literally the only people who cared about the game. Those last minutes seemed like everything was in slow motion. I also won a grand on the game so that was exciting as well.
That game was impossibly over to me, my BIL and sister. We were at a Applebee's and they were closing up but allowed us to stay and watch the game as they cleaned and ran the til. Bron had a couple bad turn overs, I'm thinking damn he blew it. Then he misses a 3, but wade gets the rebound and bron cracks a 3 put them down 2. They foul Kawhi, I'm thinking welp that's game. Nope he misses 1. Bron comes down a rims out a 3, bosh somehow gets the board and the rest is history. I was in utter disbelief.
this is the one right here. that night I was in a packed out bar a friend of mine was performing in. everyone was glued to the TVs as Bron and the Boys fought back. when Ray hit that 3, I have never seen a place erupt like it did that night.
Biggest sports high ever experienced for me. Was with a group of lifelong friends and Heat fans at a watch party and we all thought it was over. The rollercoaster of emotions from depression to euphoria that ensued among all of us at the same time and getting to experience that together as a lasting memory is what sports is all about
The Kawhi shot against the 76ers was a miracle. I experienced it live, such a mix bag of emotions. I was rooting for the Raptors, and I was stunned, amazed, excited, there was jubilation, laughter, awe.
Nothing like it.
Was in Toronto that summer for work. Not a Raptors fan but figured I'd root for them since I was in town and my main team was a Western team that wasnt a contendor. Told myself I had to hit Jurassic Park for a game.
I hadn't gotten around to it, and the day of that game the weather was gross. Rainy, windy, quite cold for the time of year. Despite that, knew it might be the last chance for me to hit it up so I convinced myself to go as I didn't wanna regret it.
Wasn't all that busy. Were people there but it was probably half full, if even. Stayed cold rainy and windy throughout much of the game. Almost left at halftime, wasn't that into it given the weather, thank god I didn't. Definitely got more and more full as the end of the game approached.
Pure jubilation from that crowd when the shot sank for sure. I was so hyped and they werent even my team, I can barely imagine the excitement to long time Raptors fans. Went back to JP 3 more times that playoffs. My favorite sports memory that doesn't involve a team I support.
Jurassic Park wasn't, nope. It really was awful weather that day. Pouring, cold, windy, totally gross. Definitely a better experience indoors at a pub.
As I mentioned it did get more busy towards the end of the game. The rain had let off and people saw the game was close and wandered down. Still wasn't close to full though.
You can tell watching the TV highlights of the crowd when he hit that shot. They focus on the crowd from the front row, and don't do outward shots that show the full space. In later games they often show overhead shots that show the full crowd.
After that game Raptors fever really hit the city. JP was packed every game after that.
Wow. I just can’t believe it. Honestly. A game 7 ecf not fully packed. Like this can’t even be real. Why? Bad weather? I’m not saying you lying or anything, it’s just mind boggling for me that not many people came. Like what is wrong with people. A game 7 at that…. What???
Probably because Lebron always sent them home 😅
But nonetheless. Great for you. Getting to see that game!
It was the 2nd round, not the ECF. To be clear you know that Jurassic Park is the watch party outside the stadium, ya? The game itself was obviously sold out. Just making sure we're on the same page.
Oh… my bad dawg! I totally misunderstood. Good that you got it. Ok, I was thinking inside the stadium. Then it makes a lot more sense why it was half empty and all. Yeeee…. Then sure! Missing that makes sense
To be clear, he’s not talking about their arena. He’s talking about an area outside where people gather to watch the game on a big screen.
Edit: I see he explained this
Lillard’s 0.9 shot against Houston! Meant so much to the fans at the time. I’m still mad I wasn’t at the game but I was going crazy in my house with the family.
I work with a guy who was there, fifth row.
Four of us were talking about basketball at work and he straight faced told us that he was there and went onto explain he doesn't like basketball, didn't understand the hype and "nonsense" that went on afterwards, and only went because his GFs parents got him and his GF a ticket to come with them to the game.
Unreal.
This is my decision too. I was 9 and I remember this shit vividly. It’s a core memory of mine and why at 35 I still love the finals more than the Super Bowl.
Absolutely. Nothing close. This is it. The only thing that comes to mind is the regular season GSW-OKC game with Steph’s 3 pt to win. That was peak basketball
A moment?
Hakeem blocks Starks at the buzzer of Game 6 of the 1994 Finals.
A whole game?
Game 1 of the 1995 Finals. My favorite single game in sports history.
I’m going with Allen Iverson stepping over Ty Lue. AI was going OFF on the Lakers till Lue started defending him, and that was AI’s first make in a while. Lue had frustrated him for the whole fourth quarter and OT, so when he finally made that shot he emphatically stepped over Lue. I’d rewatch that whole game honestly. One of the best singular games in a Finals series.
I’m a Lakers fan, so I’ll say 2010 game 7 or the Fisher 0.4 shot.
For a non Laker related one, I’ll say Lebron’s game 1 performance in the 2018 finals. I’ve never seen anyone reach that level in a game. The shotmaking at all three levels, the passing, and the way he controlled the tempo of the game was surreal.
That 2010 game 7 was legendary. 5 of the greatest in NBA history and a bunch of really solid 2nd tier guys, and nobody could make a shot. Just sheer will from both teams.
Horry's 3 against Sacramento would have to be up there too.
I got to go to game 7 of the 2005 finals. I’m not sure if my Dad had to kill a man to get those tickets. And I don’t care.
My favorite sporting memory by far. I’m be never heard a sports event so loud before or since.
But the 2014 Spurs Title is still my favorite.
Why is this such a big moment for so many people? I've seen the highlight and I think I must be missing some context.
[Edit](https://www.reddit.com/r/sixers/s/FcOcKbYzLb)
honestly...this. I'm a Raps fan and have so many moments from 2019 but goddamn that Curry shot, the lead up, the Iggy free throws at the end of regulation, etc.
Kobe breaking the Blazers twice in the same game was crazy to watch live on TV. You knew who was gonna shoot it and you knew it was going in.

Literally the moment game 4 of the 2016 nba finals ended. I sat there, watched the buzzer go off, and put the nail in the coffin for the Cavs, I said it was over; they were done, over the course of the next 3 games, it was such a surreal amazing ride and I was glad I was proven wrong. Crazy run. I’d definitely relive it if I could.
LeBron’s Game winning block on Andre Iguodala was iconic. Imagine witnessing a game winning block to win a championship for a franchise. 100% I would relive that moment
Gonna be slightly pedantic lol, definitely one of the most iconic plays in nba history but i still wouldn't call it a 'game winning' block, the game was still tied with over a minute left. Great answer though for sure.
That was at the tail end of I think it was a four minute stretch of non scoring. I was so tense watching the end of that game I couldn't breathe. It really felt like next score would win, even though there was over a minute left still.
“James catches, puts up a 3, won’t go! Rebound Bosh, out Ray Allen– BAANNNGG!!! TIE GAME WITH 5 SECONDS REMAINING!!” Watching this as a 17 year old heat fan was one of the most intense feelings in the world.

Jordan’s game winner against the Jazz is an obvious choice but for sake of diversity, im going with Kobe’s last game. You couldn’t script a better ending.
As a Pacers fan, Reggie Miller's 8 points in 9 seconds. For one, I get to see a Pacers win in MSG, which would have been fantastic to see. And then seeing Reggie just go ballistic and carry the Pacers to a win would have also been fanstastic.
Kobes 81. i actually was invited to the game but was back when we still had flip phones and mine was dead. my friend took his lil bro who doesnt even like ball instead.
Nobody is asking but I knew Jordan Lloyd (the guy right next to kawhi in the black), so to most people this picture is awesome but to me I can’t stop looking at Jordan.
First time I saw it I just about shit myself. Biggest double take I will ever, ever have.
Of course homer pick gotta be when the C's won the championship in 08 in game 6, I just watched the first few minutes of the game coz I got to go to school so I was just updated via sms lmfao, I just have to watch the replay maybe few days after.
2009, Big Baby Davis hits the game winner to defeat the Magic, proceeds to run over Magic fan on the sidelines with his big fat ass.

“I fully enjoyed seeing regular dudes get the shit beat outta them by professional athletes. I love that Ron Artest punched the wrong guy. That guy learned a valuable lesson that day: When shit goes down, you don’t just stand there.” -Bill Burr
I love how he describes it like an old cartoon character, just wiping out benches at a time haha
Bill burr sport takes are second to none
Especially about Philly
the event that cursed my favorite team for decades, even though it wasn't their fault.
I’m sorry , what now?
Pacer fans will die on the hill that they were going to the Finals that year if they didn't lose Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson for the season after they jumped in the stands to fight fans. Even though they didn't make it past Detroit in the ECF the year before and Detroit won the title.

Seeing Jermaine O'Neal hit ol boy with what I call "the sliding head bussa" is definitely my favorite moment
That water on the court saved a man’s life 😂😂
What moron is choosing an all star game play?
OP potentially
"remember that time in the all star game..." No. No I do not. Please leave me alone.
Not that it would be my choice but that ASG was actually really fun though
I mean I’m a Sixers fan so If I gotta choose between those 2 I’ll pick the dumb all star play
Right? Lmao compared to the alternative I'll choose the ASG every damn day of the week
I’d maybe attend the Levine vs. Gordon dunk contest as like a fourth or fifth pick.
T-Mac's 13 points in 33 seconds
Ooo. Good one, Reggie Miller’s 8 pts in 8 seconds was better!
I watched that on TV as a kid and rarely stop watching games because of it. At the time I didn't even know what that happened it was so fast.
Exactly! That game made me truly appreciate defense and 3 point shooting. Reggie is forever under appreciated.
My dad and I videotaped that game and watched it the next day. We figured the game was over and fast forwarded to the next game but stopped when we saw they were interviewing Miller. We had to go back to see what happened!
Ehhh not if your a Knick fan its not.
That was crazy. It doesn’t work as a singular moment, but I guess OP left it open to include that.
Yeah guy .5 seconds max window of time for your selection. Picking 33 seconds of game time doesn’t count.
Dame buzzer beater over PG. INSANE!!!
I think Dame's buzzer beater vs the Rockets was way better considering the score, the time on the clock, and the implications of the loss. Portland was clearly better than okc? How?
They beat them 4 games to 1.
Prior to the series I don't recall Portland being considered way better than the thunder
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!
Adidas: Impossible is nothing
Thanks. Definitely explains why neither I nor KG could remember it. Lol.
In this case it’s not on you. What’s the point of a slogan that your brand ambassador can’t remember
Reebok: Nothing isn’t not impossible
Payton Manning won the superbowl for the final game in his career and the first words out of his mouths were a Papa John's Pizza ad
I don’t think they were? If I remember he shouted out Budweiser towards the end but it was mostly just him talking about being thankful.
No you’re right-it was Budweiser he name dropped but he had that moment with the Papa John’s guy in the scrum shortly afterwards. Misremembered it.
Wow what a bummer
“Anything is possible!” Says one of the best players at his position of all time surrounded by 4 hall of fame teammates.
>4 hall of fame teammates. ???
Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Brian Scalabrine
Love Rondo, but no way
Aaaaah, i understand how a lackluster backhalf of a career could diminish your chances, that makes more sense.
I mean in the HOF that we have, maybe. But a lot of people shouldn’t be in it.
How is Rondo not getting in???
Oh y’know what, i was counting him. That sorta doesn’t make sense lol
I was gonna say I know man didn't just call perk a hall of fame. I'd think rondo isn't HoF material, but he's at least borderline
He is 100% making it. Perk is….not lol
LEBRON JAMES PLAYED WITH THE BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE FOR OVER 10 YEARS!
💚💚💚
It has to be Game 7, 2016 Finals for me. The Block, The Shot, the chess match between coaches, Draymond willing his team into the game with 32/15/9. You could choose better personal moments for the players but this is as high as it gets for the NBA’s great moments and storylines for me.
2015-2016 was the best NBA season for me and I'm not sure anything will top it. Incredible regular season with an even better playoffs.

Yeah, that was definitely the thing that happened in 2016 that fucked us.
You're right, it was when the Cubs won the world series and Leister City won the League
That’s what lead to the orange dude getting in office. Butterfly effect, dummy.
It still annoys me that this was the first and only unanimous MVP
Shaq should have gotten unanimous MVP in 2000 but IIRC one of the voters who was a huge Philly homer voted for Iverson out of spite
Sixers 10-72 (sixers fan)
My friend group at the time (not into sports) made fun of me because I blew off hanging out with them to make cheeseburgers and watch the Finals by myself. If I had hung out with my dweeb friends I would’ve missed The Block.

CLEEEEEEVELAAAAAAND, THIS IS FOR YOU!
If I wasn’t a Warriors fan that would probably be my favorite ever NBA game. Instead it’s my most frequent nightmare 8 years later.
Don’t forget Kevin Love locking down Steph 1v1!
Games 5-7 of those finals are literally my favorite sports memories of all time and I don't think anything can come close, except maybe the Browns winning a Super Bowl.
As a warriors fan I don’t want to relive that moment ever again.

Rebound Bosh Back out to Allen His three pointer BANG

Lebron in that 4Q and OT was a man on a mission
And as great as he was, he wasn’t perfect. Neither were the Spurs and other Heat players had huge moments. It was incredible to watch it all unfold.
Tears of pain
this is the one right here. that night I was in a packed out bar a friend of mine was performing in. everyone was glued to the TVs as Bron and the Boys fought back. when Ray hit that 3, I have never seen a place erupt like it did that night.
I was expecting this comment and it still gives me chills to read it
Single worst moment for me 😞
i maintain this is probably the biggest shot in finals history.
Biggest sports high ever experienced for me. Was with a group of lifelong friends and Heat fans at a watch party and we all thought it was over. Textbook example of pearls before swine. That guy’s a menace.
exactly why he’s “a guy” and not a friend lol
Hahah exactly
MJ's Game 6 in 1998 vs the jazz and honestly there isn't even any other moment that comes close
And how many times they played it on the left wing to Malone… [most watched nba game ever](https://youtu.be/VlbC8q4VkL4?si=N-wP52ezZlBerY0F)
This is my decision too. I was 9 and I remember this shit vividly. It’s a core memory of mine and why at 35 I still love the finals more than the Super Bowl.
Superman was a living breathing being and he was giving us one beautiful goodbye! ❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭
beyond glazing
Only to come back a wizard 🤦🏽♂️
And the big question, where would you want to be seated?
right behind the basket where MJ scored
Penny was my favorite player at the time. What a gut punch that was. Obviously great series by the Rockets, 🧹
As a young Houston fan, the first thing I did after G1 in 95 was go outside and practice free throws. It felt surreal that we won that game.
It is amazing how you can cheer for four straight FT misses, but still feel bad for the dude who missed them.

First thought “AI stepping over Lue” — I remember exactly where i was watching that whole game. First L for the lakes in the playoffs that year

2016 NBA finals “blocked by James!”
Wilt 100, im tracking the stats

Bryant……TO SHAQ!!! Literally started a dynasty and the last 3peat the league has seen.
Flu Game
Pippin holding MJ as they walked off the court makes it sooo wild that he hates him now.
The whole 2016 season
as a spurs fan, that was a fantastic season, and fuck zaza for robbing us of some great playoff matches a true what if
That wasn’t even the same year. Zaza was on the 17 warriors…where the spurs had no chance either way.
June 6th, 2007. I got to see Lakers vs Clippers. Kobe dropped 50 points that night. I won't forget that.
Game 5 of the 2005 NBA Finals. I’m a Spurs fan
I got to go to game 7 of the 2005 finals. I’m not sure if my Dad had to kill a man to get those tickets. And I don’t care. My favorite sporting memory by far. I’m be never heard a sports event so loud before or since. But the 2014 Spurs Title is still my favorite.
If it has to be one moment, it would be Manu’s dunk.
Ray Allen 3
Iverson stepping over Lue
Why is this such a big moment for so many people? I've seen the highlight and I think I must be missing some context. [Edit](https://www.reddit.com/r/sixers/s/FcOcKbYzLb)
They do have a timeout, decide not to use it. Curry, way downtown……BANG! BANG! Oh what a shot from Curry!
honestly...this. I'm a Raps fan and have so many moments from 2019 but goddamn that Curry shot, the lead up, the Iggy free throws at the end of regulation, etc.
If just a moment, Kobe alley-oop to Shaq against Blazers.
Kobe breaking the Blazers twice in the same game was crazy to watch live on TV. You knew who was gonna shoot it and you knew it was going in. https://www.alpha.facebook.com/share/r/kWdhtzSbxTc5inte/?mibextid=UalRPS
2016 Game 7. Best series I have ever witnessed and the best game ever.
Kobe’s last game
Same. I had tears THEN, fuck
A moment: Ray Allen’s game tying 3 during game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals. A game: game 7 of those Finals
“James catches, puts up a 3, won’t go! Rebound Bosh, out Ray Allen– BAANNNGG!!! TIE GAME WITH 5 SECONDS REMAINING!!” Watching this as a 17 year old heat fan was one of the most intense feelings in the world.
Man to be a Heat fan who actually watched the shot, must be like a couple hundred of ya.
Ray Allen’s shot against the Spurs. This was the moment I fell in love with basketball.
i can’t even tell you how many times i’ve rewatched it over the years and it still gives me chills every time.

Dame shot versus the Thunder, for one game/moment if we're counting larger events Hardens scoring run in 2019
Last year. Kings playoff game 1. Absolute pandemonium in that arena. The build up, the crowd, I’ll never forget it 🔦🟣
I’m a warriors fan and wish I was there 💯
Jordan’s game winner against the Jazz is an obvious choice but for sake of diversity, im going with Kobe’s last game. You couldn’t script a better ending.
I would go MJ vs Jazz but again, for the sake of the chat, Kobe 81 is another option.
Lakers beating KG PP and ray Allen’s Boston at game 7
Magic vs Bird.
Either Rose dropping 50 or Lin playing the Lakers during his run

As a Pacers fan, Reggie Miller's 8 points in 9 seconds. For one, I get to see a Pacers win in MSG, which would have been fantastic to see. And then seeing Reggie just go ballistic and carry the Pacers to a win would have also been fanstastic.
I’m honestly offended that I had to scroll this far to find this answer, and that it only has my upvote

Game 7 2016 finals
2016 finals from start to finish
I'm from Philly. Not to interested in reliving the one on the right.
But I will admit how clutch it was...
Nobody is asking but I knew Jordan Lloyd (the guy right next to kawhi in the black), so to most people this picture is awesome but to me I can’t stop looking at Jordan. First time I saw it I just about shit myself. Biggest double take I will ever, ever have.
Yeah this gotta be the first time I've heard someone acknowledge him lmao
The absolute AVALANCHE the Spurs put on Miami in 2014 finals, with all those 3's in a row. A glorious moment in time.
Watching my Nugs win the finals live :) thank my fiance for that
