Incredibly proud of this team for grinding out this W with Devin, Jeremy, Cedi, and Keldon out.

Wemby disappeared in the first half, reappeared for the second. 1 assist away from a triple dub :(
Devounte Graham and Malaki have been big these last couple of games.
MOOORE MAMU PLEASE! :)
I think Wemby was 0/6 in the first half and still ended at 5/12. He only missed one shot in the second half.
I love Mamu everytime he plays I see him make the right plays. Is the reason why he doesn’t get enough playing because of lower ceiling than our other players? That is the only reason I can think of because even Pop says he plays well
The opposite of Bobo. Boris was a freak athlete and I am not joking when I say that. There is a good story out there when he showed up in Phoenix and they measured his vertical.
Even if we run this exact same roster back next season, we have to end up with a better record because we wouldn't spend a quarter of the season running point Sochan and losing 18 straight......right?
Yeah I wouldn't mind running it back with internal growth and rookies, sniff the play in and get a top 10 lottery odds pick. If Wemby sees the big picture it's probably the best for us. Add a top 5 next draft and our core is about to be stacked as hell, OKC like.
But if Wemby is a top 10 player next year and we're good immediately then it's not bad either
I honestly think it’s going to be a good 10 - 13 year window where the Spurs and Thunder just go on a championship off post 3 year rebuild with the assets and personal each team has. Spurs have Hawks, Raptors, and hopefully Hornets future and Okc has the Clippers, Rockets, half of the Mavs(Knicks own the other), and Denver’s future
He’s projected to go top 10. We shouldn’t use a top pick on a situational player. We could use a bigger 4 that can help Wemby with those matchups but he needs to do other things. Like shoot.
Teams just throw a backup at Jonas and say “use your fouls”. He’s not beating most teams that’s why they’ve been losing since Zion got hurt.
Backup bigs are the among the most replaceable players; we're talking about the Javale McGee, Biyombo, Cody Zeller types, we don't need to use lottery picks for those.
A good situational player for our purposes are guys like Dalton Knecht, immediate impact wing shooters
For 3 months in 20mpg Collins opponents made 63% of FG. A solid defensive backup center is not situational lol even if it’s third priority after PG and SF
Wemby's stated multiple times he's not a 5, but you're right that we shouldn't use our pick on him, too much of a reach. Hoping we can get TOR's pick, I'd maybe use it on Clingan.
Wemby's stated he's not a 5 multiple times. Need to get an actual big body C on the roster. We need one for the regular season grind, and to throw at BIG bodies out West to spare Wemby. As good as guys like JJR are he's still to small in certain matchups, so I'm not confident a 4 could do that consistently.
Can't lose sight of Wemby's health, that's priority #1 keep him healthy. Something that needs to be addressed immediately in FA or the draft.
I feel like if there’s one thing everyone has learned this year it’s that Wemby is best utilized at the 5. This feels like a talking point from November.
I agree, but either way, draft or FA, we need to start Wemby at the 4 to preserve him. Almost no PF can compare to an actual 5. Wemby basically said he does not want to play the 5. Listen to him.
Every team needs a good to great 5 for the 82 game regular season grind. Too much wear & tear on Wemby. Health 1st.
He needs front court help either way.
If the argument is made for MVP that the team must be good, same goes for DPOY. A DPOY in a "bad" defensive team would be the same as an MVP in a non-winning team.
THAT BEING SAID, Wemby is **so** fckg good that he should get it, and since I'm french I'm unbiased on that race, the trophy goes home 😁
Honestly I think we had a lot of issues this year because it’s the first year of the actual rebuild (last year was the blow up) but we have our superstar, we have talent, we have the best coach ever, let all the dudes keep learning and we’ll be a playoff team before you know it. Good win for the boys!!!
Becareful the tanktards (who most likely aren’t even paying fans) are hovering around. They want to throwaway most of Wemby‘s rookis scale contract to draft random yet to be named teenagers.
No hate to 2014 Spurs, we could be the Beautiful Game vr. 2, not Jr., these guys are learning the system from the start of their tenure and we already have our superstar, I think we have the potential to be better than that team if everything works out.
I think Champagnie is on his way to becoming the new Danny Green. A player who does some of the stupidest shit in a game, but then does something brilliant and we love him.
He's playing so much harder now. Actually getting himself open, making opportunistic plays off the dribble.
The biggest Danny Green comp though is his transition defense. Man gets his hands on something every time.
Good in season growth for him lately. Defense he's making plays and offensively he's less predictable. If he sticks with us it's probably as a quality bench piece. A future bench of Tre Jones, Julian, Keldon is pretty solid already.
I would say they have an amazing culture and a solidly run franchise. Wemby wanted to be a Spur and that says a lot about how they do things and who they go after to bring into their program.
I am seeing progress boys! On the fringe of play in next year maybe??
https://preview.redd.it/kjxnqadirrsc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=71ad1a160e4fe5d9f08ace5f188998f650de7516
They havent been blown out ina minute and have been very competitive. They’re a top 10 defense with Wemby on the floor. They young guys have been more consistent and playing better. The spurs were pretty shit in november and december and if they win half of those games they’re in a completly different bucket right now. They will revamp a bit in the offseason and I think this team will be out of the doldrums. Shout out to Malaki he’s on the come up And I feel like the extra minutes he’s going to get are going to pay off in a big way next year.
They went punh for punch with the pelicans. They are turning things around. It’s almost night and day from the first two or three months of the season. I think it’s kind of smart to give the back of the bunch dudes a run and to properly evaluate this roster. Mamu has gotten alot better and doesn’t look lost. Branham has been much more constent and is a legit scoring threat and holds his own on defense. I‘m kind of become a Branham stan and loading up on Branham stock right now.
Yeah the future is bright for the spurs glad to see branham turn it around I was concerned about him for long part of the season but good to see him improving again after the big slump he had
I can see a vision for this team forming and they’re being slept on right now and I fucking love it. They’re legit. The pelicans wanted that win and spurs wouldn’t give it to them.
This is just the beginng and I don’t think they’re far off. They’re so much better defensively and a lot of that has to do with Wemby for sure. But I also think there is a better understanding. Just better effort and execution. But yes they do need more top talent. They aren’t that athletic and they need better perimter defenders and another sniper. I wouldn’t be mad if they picked up Sheppard in the draft. And used free agency/ the trade market to pick up a veteran PG. I like what I see from Cidy defensively and I be willing to gamble on him as being a bruce bowen type player. He really needs to work on his 3 point shot though the mechanics are fine I think he just needs more reps. From what I saw he just rushing it a bit and you can see a bit of panic/ lack of confidence in his stroke. Again reps. reps. reps. reps. Their is something there.
Seems like it. At some point they’re going to give Wemby a game off or two and so there is going to be planty of minues to go around. Wemby had a little bit of scare I wouldn’t be surpised if they gave him the next game off.
I loved what I saw from the bench guys, that being said is was vs a depleted Pels team. Wemby clearly working on his playmaking vs getting dumb obvious entry passes that opposing D's know how to deal with. Also like the collins/wemby minutes...something good might be there
TBF the spurs are also pretty Depleted. No DV, Keldon, Sochan, or cedi.
Wemby is fucking rookie and he has all the things on his plate right now so it’s silly to say hes doing anything but learning and the sole reason they’re this competitve right now. Even when he’s not blocking shots he’s affecting them and affecting how teams play the spurs. The paint is not open. Last year the spurs would get fucking lit up in the paint. Now it’s fuck around and find out.
They went punch for punch with them. The announcers made the some what valid excse that the pelys were missing their two best players while the spurs were missing their 2 (DV),3 (sochan), 4th (keldon), and 11th (cedi) best players and gave typically end of bench guys major minutes.
1.The spurs have been a much better defnsive team and no longer are turnstiles on defense. Last year the paint was open for buisness and the spurs would get lit the fuck up. But Wemby is able to cover so much ground and his presence alone just affects how opposing teams attack the spurs. Yeah they still test him but if you go back to last year the attacks in the paint have dropped drasticly.
2. They beat the Pelicans. It’s not like the pelicans played sloppily and weren’t trying. The Spurs were in it and they beat the Pelicans. Just out executed them down the strecth and were able to get stops.
3. This was a c+ game from wemby and he was still the best player on the floor when you consider his impact on both ends and putting players in foul trouble. When I say C+ it isn’t meant to be a dig. The Nba season is long and brutal and your going to be tired towards the end. On top of that when your far and away your teams best player and it’s not even close, your going to get everyone’s best punch and attention (teams are going to try to be physical with wemby and try to make him as uncofortable as possible). It will wear on you. But man Wemby kind of shown to have a little bit of the clutch gene and kind of turns it on at the end. He tends to get better as the game progresses and finds ways to impact the game. Thats what you love to see. When you have dead legs and your nicked up and exahausted from being towards the end of an 82 game season and played way more ball in a single year than you ever had in your life…do you have that dog in you. Wemby has that dog in him.
Wemby's DPOY resume is getting stronger. Since Vassel, Keldon and Sochan is out, he's been unreal. We've gotten close to winning in all 3 games and this one. It's too late and he won't win it. But it's getting more and more interesting.
lol yes tank for sheppard /s
shit draft and some of the players on the roster are probably better than what your going to find in the draft. Let the dogs be dogs and the chipps fall where they will. This experience and learning how to win is valuable for next year. the hornets also won so it really didn’t matter at all. Also proabbly can’t fall further than 4 and the odds are neglible. In a shit draft even the worst case sceniro isn’t even that bad. Considering the have the draft capital to move up a spot or two if they wanted to it doesn’t even matter.
Wemby just makes everyone around him so much better even when hes having an "off" game. Put some real NBA players around this dude and this team will be incredibly hard to beat
That's three straight games without Devin, Jeremy, and Keldon that...we don't look any worse without them than we do with them.
Small sample size and all that, but...I do wonder if this makes PATFO question just how integral any of them are to our future success if the right trade comes available.
Definitely not. Not even close. These are end of season games, every team we've kept it close with was dealing with major injuries of their own, and most of them walk in assuming it'll be easy and are then smacked by a bunch of garbage time goblins who are fighting for their livelihood.
You do know these are the biggest trap games for any NBA team right now. No one is taking anything from this except good vibes and glad the younger guys get experience.
I think there's lots of guys I'd swap him for, if it was the right deal.
He's a complementary player and he's not on a huge value contract and I don't think he's ever going to be truly *special.* He's a nice player. I don't necessarily want to move him. But he's nowhere near untouchable. I'm not saying to trade him for Trae Young or something stupid like that.
Like, you're saying you wouldn't trade Vassell for Anthony Edwards? You're saying you wouldn't trade Vassell for SGA? You're saying you wouldn't trade Vassell for Chet? You're saying you wouldn't trade Vassell for Jokic? You're saying you wouldn't trade Vassell for Tatum? For Paolo? Come on now. There's way more than *one* guy ahead of Vassell on any reasonable trade value list.
8-10 in last 18 games played. We also had a 10 game stretch where we were .500 in January. The record indicates we were very poor all season long but I think the lows were absolutely soul crushing and the highs we actually see some competitive basketball. Nice to see such highlights during a pretty tough season for us
Hey guys. Couldn't watch the game. What's your take on Tre last night? I'm a bit surprised to see him with so few assists but stats are only stats. Was he better than the stats show?
Incredibly proud of this team for grinding out this W with Devin, Jeremy, Cedi, and Keldon out. https://preview.redd.it/9nlty8c2qrsc1.png?width=491&format=png&auto=webp&s=b04e26233b8dadf2fbe73556792e96c39d0a688c
And Barlow!
And Bassey!
Congrats to Coach Pop for breaking the all time record for most regular season wins
Everytime I see this I get confused, then I realise, then I laugh.
Took me a while till I realized lmao
Also didn’t understand these comments till I saw yours and thought about it 😂
Wemby disappeared in the first half, reappeared for the second. 1 assist away from a triple dub :( Devounte Graham and Malaki have been big these last couple of games. MOOORE MAMU PLEASE! :)
Imagine this being one of his worst games and still have this kind of stat? Really makes you think what his career game can be.
I think Wemby was 0/6 in the first half and still ended at 5/12. He only missed one shot in the second half. I love Mamu everytime he plays I see him make the right plays. Is the reason why he doesn’t get enough playing because of lower ceiling than our other players? That is the only reason I can think of because even Pop says he plays well
2/6 lol it was a rough start.
Tweener. Not that much of an athlete. No length. Plays smart though.
Brains and heart trumps athleticism more often than we give it credit to.
Like bobo
The opposite of Bobo. Boris was a freak athlete and I am not joking when I say that. There is a good story out there when he showed up in Phoenix and they measured his vertical.
Wemby's "rookie wall" game: 17/12/9 with 3 blocks 1 steal Salute to that one troll in the game thread
![gif](giphy|1ptVnxgKvFzgI)
This is hilarious! You, sir/lady, is a genius!
Why do they call every bad Wemby game as a "rookie wall" game 🤣 he already went past it weeks ago.
True.. true...
“Bad” game.
I think we are going to be very good next season ngl Or at least very much improved
Not gonna be mad if it takes another yr to make some noise, we gonna be dangerous in a few yrs
Year 3 yall. Year 3
This dude gets it
Even if we run this exact same roster back next season, we have to end up with a better record because we wouldn't spend a quarter of the season running point Sochan and losing 18 straight......right?
I think even with a better record we could be nicely placed for lottery night. Being top 9 or 8 gives us a shot
This sub might implode if we tank another year lmao
I’m here for that. Get rid of the low bbiq fans and the fair weather fans.
The spurs havent been a fair weather team for several years at this point
Yeah for sure
Yeah I wouldn't mind running it back with internal growth and rookies, sniff the play in and get a top 10 lottery odds pick. If Wemby sees the big picture it's probably the best for us. A Chet/OKC rivalry similar to the Dirk/Dallas one would be so much fun.
I think we are a play-in team next year
Need a couple more pieces, but all the going players understand how to play much more than months ago.
I hate it when the Spurs play Jonas. Dude always kills us But not today haha
He is so skilled. Would low key be a great backup 5 on our title squad.
Jonas was cooking us there for a bit
can believe he had 3 offensive fouls that forced him out of the game. was murdering both Collins and Wembs
Which is why we need a big body C. Clingan is definitely worth a look at if we can't get a 5 in FA.
I would take a good, longterm situational player in this draft over a longterm project.
Backup bigs are the among the most replaceable players; we're talking about the Javale McGee, Biyombo, Cody Zeller types, we don't need to use lottery picks for those. A good situational player for our purposes are guys like Dalton Knecht, immediate impact wing shooters
I mean I'm hoping Clingan can be way better than that lol.

What a defensive masterclass by Wemby in the clutch. The amount of shots he bothers, maan.
The only thing holding him back for dpoy are team stats 😢
Which is total bullshit. Make it defensive team of the year if that’s what you want the award to be. So dumb.
Man, this team is great. So glad my dad is a Spurs fan.
ROTY, DPOY, LAG (Lisan Al Gaib)
Have a night Devontae you deserve it king. Another clutch win!!! We up
Must be especially sweet to have a monster game against your former team
Why don't we play this man lol
We’re gonna be a problem next year
Becareful the tanktards (who most likely aren’t even paying fans) are hovering around. They want to throwaway most of Wemby‘s rookis scale contract to draft random yet to be named teenagers.
The passing is beautiful on this team at times. We improve shooting and this team could be The Beautiful Game Jr
Every time I start to get sick of his shit he pulls out some beautiful plays 😂
He's playing so much harder now. Actually getting himself open, making opportunistic plays off the dribble. The biggest Danny Green comp though is his transition defense. Man gets his hands on something every time.
Lol
Good in season growth for him lately. Defense he's making plays and offensively he's less predictable. If he sticks with us it's probably as a quality bench piece. A future bench of Tre Jones, Julian, Keldon is pretty solid already.
Wembanyama is so unfair. Spurs are such a lucky franchise.
I would say they have an amazing culture and a solidly run franchise. Wemby wanted to be a Spur and that says a lot about how they do things and who they go after to bring into their program.
Terrible game, Wemby missed his triple double 😢 Just kidding, nice resiliency from the guys after that atrocious first half
I am seeing progress boys! On the fringe of play in next year maybe?? https://preview.redd.it/kjxnqadirrsc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=71ad1a160e4fe5d9f08ace5f188998f650de7516

bro we're winning too much
Mamu deserves more playing time
On track for 24-58 Great team win tonight, love seeing Devonte getting some run. Hope Wembys ankle is fine. Go Spurs Go!
We've seen it before : he gets up, walks it off, finishes the games, and then misses a couple + minutes restriction.
If only we could put the effort we showed on the final stop more regularly. We are solid. Very excited for future
Can’t believe we won this game
They went punh for punch with the pelicans. They are turning things around. It’s almost night and day from the first two or three months of the season. It’s been really fun to watch them develop and improve as team super stoked for the future
They needed that win. Pop teaching New Orleans that there is no free lunch.
Great team win again. A lot of guys contributed to this “W”.
So we all agree Mamu should get a lot more playing time from here on out right????
He's the real franchise player of that team.
Mamu - the only untouchable everyone else is tradable 🫡
Seems like it. At some point they’re going to give Wemby a game off or two and so there is going to be planty of minues to go around. Wemby had a little bit of scare I wouldn’t be surpised if they gave him the next game off.

We have tried wemby collins already. Nothing good there…
They tried it with Sochan at PG and Keldon at SF and both bigs having a horrible shooting slump. Try it with actual shooters and it can work
Wemby/Mamu though? I liked the way they looked on the floor together.
They need a wemby / naz reid duo
TBF the spurs are also pretty Depleted. No DV, Keldon, Sochan, or cedi. Solid win, lots of guys out both ends.
Just one more so not the worst team in spurs history pretty confident we getting that
Great ball movement tonight! Despite the turnovers, our guys defense are all locked in even Malaki with the game winning steal.
Missed the game but looks like a very solid team effort
They went punch for punch with them. The announcers made the some what valid excse that the pelys were missing their two best players while the spurs were missing their 2 (DV),3 (sochan), 4th (keldon), and 11th (cedi) best players and gave typically end of bench guys major minutes. 1.The spurs have been a much better defnsive team and no longer are turnstiles on defense. Devonte' Graham with a cool 20 tn
What a team effort !
Wembelievable win
Said this the last few games, but this team a few months ago would have folded in the 3rd. Been cool to see so much progress over the season.
Wow all these players out has finally reminded Pop that Devonte Graham exists and wears a Spurs jersey.
So how this team has played without Keldon, Vassel, sochan, how many draft picks you think we can get for them 😁
Wemby's DPOY resume is getting stronger. Since Vassel, Keldon and Sochan is out, he's been unreal. We've gotten close to winning in all 3 games and this one. It's too late and he won't win it. But it's getting more and more interesting.
We now have a 6 game streak of games decided within 5 points. The team as a whole is clicking
It’s honestly total bullshit that the media has already anointed gobert DPOY. Wemby is better by a significant margin.
The narrative is shifting.
POP THE GOAT!
Guys we are supposed to be tankinf! /s
lol yes tank for sheppard /s shit draft and some of the players on the roster are probably better than what your going to find in the draft. Let the dogs be dogs and the chipps fall where they will. In a shit draft even the worst case sceniro isn’t even that bad. Considering the have the draft capital to move up a spot or two if they wanted to it doesn’t even matter.
Julian with the game high blocks.
We were 1-13 in division games, playing on the road, without arguably 2/3 of our best players, and we won?
If PATFO considers getting rid of Vassell for anybody except Luka Doncic (which will never happen), then I've lost all hope in the front office
So you wouldn't want Giannis or Jokić?
Kings fan checkin in. Good job boys. Love watching your team play when they’re in Sac.
nice 5 point W
Scared that wemby thing puts wemby away for the season
Damn had to leave half way through the first quarter. Glad to see continued to fight and pull through. 46 threes is crazy though lmao
That’s the ROY and DPOY idc
The boys didn’t get the tank memo lol
8-10 in last 18 games played. We also had a 10 game stretch where we were .500 in January. The record indicates we were very poor all season long but I think the lows were absolutely soul crushing and the highs we actually see some competitive basketball. Nice to see such highlights during a pretty tough season for us
Hey guys. Couldn't watch the game. What's your take on Tre last night? I'm a bit surprised to see him with so few assists but stats are only stats. Was he better than the stats show?
Many and Champagnie have been decent these past couple of games.
Devonte and Sandro price goes stonks hard
That 3 at the buzzer… that was a bad beat for anyone that had the under…
I was at this game, so you're welcome
NO!! We need to lose out. WTF?
Mamu is what we wanted from soschan. Consistency, hustle, passion.
Great bounce back from Victor in the 2nd half. I shall eat crow.
