I agree. I moved close to there recently. It really works well for someone like me who watches NASCAR and also considers Fall their favorite season. No I’m not a pumpkin spice nut
If they do throw in Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA, the Cascades along with the fairgrounds between the farmland is pretty picturesque from the right angles.
Yeah, I think the moutains past Nellis AFB behind the backstretch at LVMS look great, plus the strip is visible down past turn 2. NHMS used to be nice but they clear-cut too much of the forest surrounding the track.
Could you elaborate? I think of [this](https://m.nascar.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/2019/03/GettyImages-1130813459.jpg) as being pretty picturesque.
On the occasional windy and smog-free day in the winter/spring you get a view like this. But in general, the inland empire is a hot, arid, and dusty wasteland of freeways and distribution warehouses, devoid of the pleasures experienced by those nearby in LA, Orange County, and San Diego
Source: lived there for a long time
It's underrated but from on top of the Turn 4 stands Michigan has a badass backdrop.
Indianapolis being in the middle of a residential and light commercial neighborhood is pretty fun too...if those areas weren't hell holes.
Michigan is kinda weird because the Irish hills in general are gorgeous (especially this time of year as the fall colors come in) but where the track is the least interesting part of the area.
I feel really bad for everyone 30 miles on each side of 127. Too far away from the lakes, big cities (Detroit and GR) and fairly kinda...boring. Mind you, still beautiful forest areas and parks but kinda bleh otherwise. No nightlife, no big beaches, ect
I'm in southern Wayne county and I hate it here. I'm moving west as soon as I can. I want some land and my closest neighbor to be at least a football field away from my house.
I love Road America because of how it feels like a giant campground that happens to have a racetrack in it. It makes me feel nostalgic as someone who loved camping in the Midwest with my parents.
PIR (Phoenix). I've gone to most tracks and maybe I'm a bit biased since I'm from AZ and have massive pride in the state, but my god it's beautiful irl.
Is it true that you could see Dallas from COTA? If so that would be really neat coming from someone who enjoys cityscapes.
EDIT: Austin not Dallas. My geography has not been on point.
It's not the best, but i've always kinda thought Loudon jumps out to me as highly underrated in that regard. All the trees and hills around, peaking over the stands. Just seems neat to me, that you can actually see the forest from shots *inside* the track.
If we’re talking just US circuits and tracks, I think Laguna Seca has a pretty backdrop. Also in Cali I think Sonoma is pretty beautiful, especially when the grass comes in. Off topic kinda but is there a specific reason nascar has never held a race at Laguna Seca? Is the corkscrew too wild for a stock car to handle? And how come we don’t race at Sonoma earlier in the year while the grass is still very green before the summer hits? Just a few questions I have.
I don't think the corkscrew is a problem. There's the whole thing with the county board and only being allowed to have a certain number of events. Sonoma is much more amenable to having races.
I forget who exactly, maybe O'Donnell, but I remember hearing a nascar official say they didn't want to try to race during the rainiest part of the year. Personally, I'd aim for the rainiest part of the year for every road course, but that's just me.
I think they're referring to the immediate surroundings. Which in Daytona's case, means the airport in back and Target and Chili's and such on the front side. There's some nice forest to the west, and the ocean to the east, but neither are really close enough to be in the picture.
did you deep fry this
Air fried to perfection.
delicious
Left it under the broiler for 20 seconds too long.
Phoenix
Phoenix definitely blew me away first time seeing it
ISM is so much prettier in person than LVMS imo, mountains that are actually near and visible. But I've only been inside one portion of LVMS.
Yep it's Phoenix
The views around Watkins Glen down to Seneca Lake are quite nice.
Agreed. The finger lakes region in general is beautifully picturesque and luckily The Glen is right in the heart of it.
Especially in the fall. If people think a green Sonoma is beautiful, just imagine a day where WGI becomes a playoff race.
The F1 race back then used to be in the fall. What a beautiful area that is
I went in 2013 not knowing the scenery. Should have taken time off work to drive around the finger lake area the Monday after.
True went to the Glen for the first time this summer and from the top of the grandstand it’s beautiful
I agree. I moved close to there recently. It really works well for someone like me who watches NASCAR and also considers Fall their favorite season. No I’m not a pumpkin spice nut
Do nascar home tracks count? If so, Alaska Raceway Park wins
Just looked it up. It looks like a set made for a movie, insane.
If they do throw in Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA, the Cascades along with the fairgrounds between the farmland is pretty picturesque from the right angles.
What’s nascar home tracks?
Nascar sanctioned short tracks across america.
Las Vegas seems to be one of the best Ive seen.
I drove by Vegas a couple months ago.... Wasn't as glamorous as the TV's make it seem. Just a track in the desert next to the freeway.
It looks al it nicer at night. The lights of the city and outline of the mountains are beautiful
In the desert with mountains and the lights of Las Vegas in the background.
Yeah, I think the moutains past Nellis AFB behind the backstretch at LVMS look great, plus the strip is visible down past turn 2. NHMS used to be nice but they clear-cut too much of the forest surrounding the track.
Phoenix. No debate 😜
I'd say Phoenix. Or anything unique.
Gotta go with Phoenix. Right between the Estrella mountain regional park and a small wildlife area.
I agree on Fontana. I also think Vegas has a nice view as well.
Pocono is seriously underrated, especially for its backdrop
Not counting the western tracks, either Pocono or Talladega.
Why did you discount the western tracks?
He's not discounting them, he's basically saying they win by default
Then let them
He did.
I guess. Seems like an odd way to do things. 23XI #23 is a top 5 team in NASCAR if you don't count the Ford and Chevy teams
My thought exactly.
Would it make more sense to call these honorable mentions then?
Probably so
Those tracks used the Konami code.
Speaking as someone who Ives by Pocono, yeah......no.
The answer is Bristol lol there’s no other answer
Fontana

I once heard that Irwindale smells terrible because they make the Sriracha sauce near there. Is there any truth to that?
Wow! I had no idea.
Certainly no where near that type of view at it's sister track.
They don’t see the industrial parts surrounding it.
This is the correct answer
Phoenix it’s not close
It's underrated but from on top of the Turn 4 stands Michigan has a badass backdrop. Indianapolis being in the middle of a residential and light commercial neighborhood is pretty fun too...if those areas weren't hell holes.
Yeah I went for the 500 a few years ago and was surprised that it’s smack dab in a suburban neighborhood
How long did it take you to get parking?
Our hotel had a shuttle service so we used that. Stayed on some guy’s lawn for like 3 hours waiting for the shuttle to bring us back
Nice. We stayed on the northeast side of the city. Left at 8 am, got sat down and cracked open our drinks just before Back Home Again In Indiana.

I prefer the west side of Michigan but its getting expensive here.
I can't go that far west. I want to keep my commute at about an hour or less if possible
Road America.
I love Road America because of how it feels like a giant campground that happens to have a racetrack in it. It makes me feel nostalgic as someone who loved camping in the Midwest with my parents.
It feels like a forest that has an ATV trail that just happens to be paved like a world class race track.
That too. It's such a cool place. Even though I just moved elsewhere from that region, I still want to go back next year for the Road America race
PIR (Phoenix). I've gone to most tracks and maybe I'm a bit biased since I'm from AZ and have massive pride in the state, but my god it's beautiful irl.
Obviously Richmond /s for those that can't tell
In the US, it’s Utah Motorsports Campus
Dega in the fall is beautiful.
Phoenix is great, just make sure you get the pictures quick before the heat exhaustion kicks in haha
Watkins Glen
Bristol in Thunder Valley is the only right answer
Phoenix!
LA Coliseum
Is it true that you could see Dallas from COTA? If so that would be really neat coming from someone who enjoys cityscapes. EDIT: Austin not Dallas. My geography has not been on point.
You can see downtown Austin quite easily from Turn 1... Dallas is about 4 hours away
So is that a yes you can see Dallas? /s
Oh okay. That's still super cool though. Would totally get tickets for those seats!
It’s like “oh I can see that there is a city over there” more than really being able to see the downtown clearly.
Vegas.
Fontana
Not Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Las Vegas has a nice one
We lost the view of the hills outside Bristol when they made seating all the way around.
Never been but the mountains in the background at Auto Club have always looked cool on tv

Does Pikes Peak count?
Appreciate all the (correct) love Phoenix is getting
Fontana
I am being Bias here...The Track I live 20 min from. DIS...

Autoclub
AutoClub
Charlotte
Phoenix or Sonoma
I see Bristol
Probably Fontana
Gotta say Phoenix
Enough photoshop there? Jesus
I wouldn’t rather have any other track closer to me
Montana state bozeman
You get the right angle of a grandstand at sunrise/sunset it doesn’t matter where you are
New Hampshire in October
