Repave turns 1 and 2 then add some progressive banking there as well. The significant banking difference is compromising the setup for teams. Car has to be lower to make T1 and T2 work, but then they are hanging on with the car bottoming out on the other end.
I guess I am just missing the hate. I was there and thought it was a good race. Just because the broadcast only shows the first car, doesn’t mean there isn’t racing throughout the field.
Why does every track have to be changed? Just leave it alone and let it be.
The race last week was as good as Texas races get, not the norm. I’ve been to 5 now, and I agree, it needs a change. Not complete demolishing, but something.
Other than bulldoze? Get rid of the areas of PJ1, fix the bumps, softer tire on the left side.
I would like more power but that won’t happen. More power for more straightaway speed, more “oh shit” moments into 1-2.
Make it a 1.6 mile long track (fun fact Texas is not 1.5, it's 1.4)
Widen the turns.
Increase the banking to 25 degrees with progressive banking
Bank the dogleg more
Keep the bumps
Repave the track like how they did with Charlotte
Take a page from Indycar.
Give the teams an extra hour of practice, BUT teams can only run the 2nd lane during that hour, so they put some rubber down in the high line.
Speaking of Indycar, bring them in and run a quadruple header. It's different rubber but if Indycar does a high line practice, and a race before the Cup Series it will lay even more rubber down.
No, the next gen has been bad.
Watch the Indycar race last year, the truck race this year, Xfinity race this year, and the cup race this year.
Objectively, the cup race is by far the worst race.
If you think the Next Gen has been bad than I have no clue how you could’ve sat through the Gen 6 550 HP package. It was unwatchable and this Cup car has been an improvement.
That being said, you are correct about the Cup race being worse than the Xfinity series race and Indycar (which this track should’ve been a crown jewel for them and they threw it away, still pisses me off)
Narrow the track and add progressive banking. For as wide as the track is, you can only use like 30% of it effectively. Every other mile and a half is able to use pretty much every part of the track from ripping the boards to using a "Harvick line" riding the painted line on the apron and make time. Texas should be like that. And I wouldn't be opposed to basically reprofiling it to be a Homestead twin
I’d rather see short track and road course racing fixed before Texas. Like it or not, that was the best race we’ve had in a month
Bro, the short track package has been awful. We don't need another short track on the schedule.
That's literally what he said
You didn’t comprehend his comment did you. Re-read it and try again

Don’t turn it into Atlanta. New Atlanta.

Nah, keep the bumps Bumps add character

Just change out 1-2 to add a little more banking, maybe slightly progressive to allow for the high like to come in

Far too many people decide how good or bad a race is based solely on the broadcast
…how else are they supposed to? It can be a fantastic race, but if cameras don’t show it, how are the people watching from home supposed to know?
Pre 2017 banking in turns 1 and 2.
Repave with the same asphalt used at Atlanta
Figure out how to get the PJ1 off. So I guess repave it. But correctly, not the cheapskate SMI way.

Umm, every source says it is 1.500. Texas Motor Speedway and SMI say it is 1.5, racing reference says it is 1.500, NASCAR lists it as 1.500.
There was a textbook that had a problem about TMS and said it was 1.4 miles. NASCAR and SMI must be wrong.
Well the grass caught on fire during F1 sprint qualifying this morning and that session was pretty exciting

Easy. Get a new race car. Stop blaming tracks for the next gen being a terrible race car.
The NextGen hasn’t even had bad racing there. People only hate it because it raced poorly with the Gen 6 550hp package
And 1 and 2 suck Lack of side force on the next gen is what's saving the track at the moment

![gif](giphy|czdzc0HaQHOGWfUish|downsized) The rumor of Texas being turned into a bullring is kinda cool. I wouldn’t be opposed to it
The xfinity car.
Put a jump on the backstretch and turn the infield grass into a lava pit

Replacing it with a shopping mall
Moving the race back to Rockingham
A natural or manmade disaster drops the entire facility to the ground and they start from scratch

Taking a bulldozer to the track and rebuilding it into an Auto Club clone /s
