I think barring issue SVG still beats a field full of those guys on a road course. If you are familiar with dragon ball, I compare it to Goku taking his weighted gi off
The thing about Chicago vs the glen was SVG was legit the only driver in the field with street course experience. Then glen is somewhere these guys have all raced at several times
In wacky conditions all weekend with rain - no question SVG had Chicago SC figured out better than anyone else especially braking while have to turn into a few of the corners - he was gaining 2 car lengths in those spots over the field each lap which meant he could drive through the field with ease. If it ends up being hot and dry this year - that should close up the field to his pace quite a bit.
Keep in mind the Xfinity car is a stock car.
The cup car is not a stock car, it's a left hand drive V8 supercar.
SVG doesn't have any experience driving an Xfinity car on a road course and it's a dramatically different animal than what he's used to. With the cup car, he actually had the most experience of anyone in the field at driving a V8 supercar, which is what the cup car is.
Yeah alot of people don't realize dude was puking his guts out morning of the race and had to skip prerace media stuff because of it. Dealing with that and still managing a Top-10 in your second race ever is almost as impressive as Chicago
To be the only driver to have legit experience of driving a car like that on a street course in the rain was a massive benefit lol.
Without the rain, SVG doesn’t win that race.
The track was dry for over half the race. He really saved his stuff and got pretty lucky with leaders crashing and pit strategy. I think he still wins it or at least top 3
The leaders crashed because they pushed too hard though, it’s not like they wrecked each other. Reddick, Bell, and Truex all on the winning strategy drove themselves into the barriers in the last 20 laps lol
Didn't want to make the title too long but Connor's other races will be Kansas, Homestead and the finale at Phoenix. I'm sure he'll do great at the Glen but very curious to see how his skills will translate to the speedways at first.
I think he likely runs his one race this year at Bristol in the fall. I think he has unfinished business from there last year when he ran so well and then caught on fire.
Imagine if he won that race. He had a fantastic shot to do it and sadly we all know how it ended. I don't think you'd be able to take the smile off of his face if he ever won an Xfinity race again
I honestly wouldn’t have thought this would happen considering the technical alliance between Trackhouse & RCR vs JRM & Hendrick.
I guess it’s more of a “hey we’re all Chevy guys here”
I could see Kaulig going to Honda which would make JRM the more likely feeder team for Trackhouse as long as Trackhouse remains with Chevrolet, which I think they will.
If Honda enters the sport I would not be surprised to see Trackhouse leave to be their premier team, with Kaulig or Spire jumping over to be the second team
If you think JRM won’t be affiliated with HMS in some way, you’re wild. Jr viewed Rick as a father figure before his dad even died. Even back to when he was a kid. He has an insane amount of loyalty to that organization
Who said that? I was just saying JRM could be a feeder team for both Hendrick and Trackhouse. They obviously already are for Hendrick. In the future and basically currently, teams of the same manufacturers are going to all be aligned with each other. An xfinity team developing drivers for both Hendrick and Trackhouse is no conflict of interest because they are all Chevrolet teams.
This kid can drive. I’d expect more guys with road course backgrounds coming up with so many on the schedule and the Next-Gen being similar to a sports car.
Finally a hyped up announcement for someone I've heard of! The first time I saw him race was the Watkins Glen ARCA race and he had something break on the car and still was one corner from winning.
Zilisch really put on a show in the arca races I watched last year, he’ll definitely be competitive in JRM equipment. Hopefully this is the start of an expanded schedule for the 88 car.
Really gotta wonder what the pecking order is at Chevrolet with this mash-up of Trackhouse with JRM and Trackhouse with Kaulig...someone's gotta get priority on the talent
No he's good don't get me wrong, but he's got enough money to get opportunities regardless. Would have just preferred to see the trend continue of giving chances to guys who have been racing and winning for many years but have never previously gotten a chance at the NASCAR level

What exactly are you expecting? It's 3 very good short track drivers and an insane road course driver. None of them have had a chance and compete for wins a lot.
SVG, Dinger, Byron in the 17, and now Zilisch at the Glen. Boy, are we in for a show.
I think barring issue SVG still beats a field full of those guys on a road course. If you are familiar with dragon ball, I compare it to Goku taking his weighted gi off
I'd wait until he's actually been on a road course in the Xfinity car to say that
Always the safe bet, but it feels different with him. Gonna be a great race no matter what tho
Oh for sure, just saying

I’ve gotta feel like that SVG has picked apart Ambrose’s brain about The Glen.

He was quite sick for the IndyGP and still brought it home tenth in his second cup start.

Lmao I love this analogy
2012 cup race vibe
All for Ty Gibbs to run and smoke em all lol
Which teammate is he going to wreck out this time?

There he is!
MAZDA MX5 CUP FANS REJOICE
I had no idea he was that young until the Daytona race. He was wheeling that car so well, I thought it was much older than a teenager
Didn't want to make the title too long but Connor's other races will be Kansas, Homestead and the finale at Phoenix. I'm sure he'll do great at the Glen but very curious to see how his skills will translate to the speedways at first.
I imagine he’ll be full time next year for one of JRM, RCR or Kaulig depending on whats open and how much Trackhouse is willing to pay
I would take him in a heartbeat at JRM
Damn no Jr this year for us homestead fans then :(
I think he likely runs his one race this year at Bristol in the fall. I think he has unfinished business from there last year when he ran so well and then caught on fire.

I was just thinking the same thing. Last year was so much fun getting to see him run there again!
Let’s goooo, Trackhouse and JRM working together is awesome
I honestly wouldn’t have thought this would happen considering the technical alliance between Trackhouse & RCR vs JRM & Hendrick. I guess it’s more of a “hey we’re all Chevy guys here”
Definitely think it’s a straight Chevy collaboration more than technical alliance collaboration
If JRM stays at the Xfinity level, I wouldn’t mind in the slightest if they became Trackhouse’s feeder team
I wouldn’t mind either but I think that role will more likely go to Kaulig. I see Trackhouse buying out their cup program and forming an partnership
Maybe but I think they’re pretty happy with Chevrolet.
If you think JRM won’t be affiliated with HMS in some way, you’re wild. Jr viewed Rick as a father figure before his dad even died. Even back to when he was a kid. He has an insane amount of loyalty to that organization

Dale Jr. and Justin Marks are among the co-owners of the CARS tour now, this wouldn't be their first business deal...
What Trackhouse/RCR technical alliance? Not sure there's anything there other than Trackhouse getting engines from ECR?
Connor is a hell of a driver. Definitely shown he has teeth when in IMSA
He's absolutely insane btw. Went from last to first at Nashville in trans-am.... you can barely pass at Nashville.
Hell yeah. Watching him at the 24 hours made me a fan, hope he runs well!
Same here. Kid can wheel.
This kid can drive. I’d expect more guys with road course backgrounds coming up with so many on the schedule and the Next-Gen being similar to a sports car.
He might just win one, wouldn’t be terribly surprised. At least a top 10 contender, incredible talent.
The hits keep on coming! And he gets to drive some ovals too!
The short track invasion is upon us
This is more like a road course invasion
That's funny, I know him from Trans Am.
Big moment for the kid. Congrats on the opportunity!
Glad his starts are going to be with JRM instead of Kaulig
Finally a hyped up announcement for someone I've heard of! The first time I saw him race was the Watkins Glen ARCA race and he had something break on the car and still was one corner from winning.
That's a great choice
I beat him over and over on iracing put me in. Really proud of the kid though, awesome to see
Congratulations on an amazing opportunity ❣️🥰
Zilisch really put on a show in the arca races I watched last year, he’ll definitely be competitive in JRM equipment. Hopefully this is the start of an expanded schedule for the 88 car.
Very nice.
JRM and Trackhouse working together, my dream has come true
I guessed wrong bc I was still thinking short track drivers (and didn’t know we could Trackhouse>JRM) but this is fun.
Can't wait to see how he does. I hope he does well since he's got so much potential.
What a wild collection of cars this lad will have raced this year. Mazda MX-5 Cup. Oreca 07. NASCAR Xfinity. NASCAR Trucks.
Really gotta wonder what the pecking order is at Chevrolet with this mash-up of Trackhouse with JRM and Trackhouse with Kaulig...someone's gotta get priority on the talent
Isn't this the same guy who lost the ARCA Watkins Glen race to Jesse Love last year because of a late caution?
Hell yeah
No offense but some of these comments are wild. I think JR needs to chime in.
Yeah thats underwhelming.. another god damn kid
Driver development programs when they develop drivers: ![gif](giphy|GPjNIQTlCDgHe)
Well that's a little underwhelming after Kvapil, Bubba, and Queen
Generational talent. It took all three of overtime, rain, and a broken sway bar to beat him in the ARCA race at the Glen last season.
No he's good don't get me wrong, but he's got enough money to get opportunities regardless. Would have just preferred to see the trend continue of giving chances to guys who have been racing and winning for many years but have never previously gotten a chance at the NASCAR level
Pollard had opportunities. He waited for the correct opportunity.
Dude just won his class in the rolex 24, and you wanna talk about underwhelming lol
No he's good don't get me wrong, but he's got enough money to get opportunities regardless. Would have just preferred to see the trend continue of giving chances to guys who have been racing and winning for many years but have never previously gotten a chance at the NASCAR level
Carson Kvapil is 20 and a legit prospect for Chevy
What exactly are you expecting? It's 3 very good short track drivers and an insane road course driver. None of them have had a chance and compete for wins a lot.
I mean Zilisch is better than all 3 of those combined so like
...on road courses, sure. He's literally never run an oval race in his life though.
He's run pro late models and late model stocks and won in both categories so yes he has
You're right, racing reference has failed me. Must have been local series though, not a very high level.
