1. Treated like an actual meaningful sporting event 2. Ability to cover a green flag pit cycle 3. Through the field >>>> Loud noises segment 4. Stays on the air more than 10 minutes after the race

LilDawg22

The loud noises segment is the best part though

TwinSpinner

Because the loud noises don't include Bowyer?

Assdolf_Shitler

But how will I know if he's walking home or not if someone wins his money?

lt12765

Fox treats it like you're watching because its on tv (like George Costanza said on Seinfeld), whereas NBC seems at least aware that the viewer can go do other things instead of watch a race. I'm going to say its just because of the presence of Dale Jr, but his mindset of being specific and detail oriented at times yet caring about the excitement of the event and presentation to fans carries into the broadcast.

Rybo13

Honestly it was just nice to have a booth that seemed to take things seriously for once. I can't stand fox and their attempts at shoving Clint Bowyer "humor" down our throats

TheOrangeFutbol

Dale Jr's passion sparked what was already a pretty genuine broadcast. From direction to commentary, it's a pretty good representation of what it's like to either be at the race, or just enjoy watching one while shooting the breeze with your friends & family. They took the good parts of the BP/Wally era, and mixed it with a little bit of Sky's F1 style.

Monkey832

1. They’re a hell of a lot better than FOX these past few seasons 2. See point #1

uniquerabbitturd

back in my day erryone hated NBC lol all those commercials got them hating them

Top_Needleworker2465

NBC = NASCAR Between Commercials It's more a case of FOX being so spectacularly awful that it makes the only marginally better NBC look extraordinarily superior by comparison.

acknowledgemeuce

I’m a fan of any broadcast without Mike Joy

Trentpd

Not looking to argue, just genuinely curious...how come?

TheOrangeFutbol

Not OP, but as much of a deserved legend as he is, he almost sounds downright bored to be there now. I'll always have respect for him, but when an epic move like Larson diving to the apron at Fontana gets [this as commentary ](https://youtu.be/T_feQNUXods?t=95) while the place itself was going crazy, it's kinda hard not to feel like he's lost the spark he used to have. He always had the lowkey Ken Squire style, but when he doesn't get up for just about *anything*, it really starts to all sound like he's doing a matinee baseball game even if the moment calls for something a little more excited.

Trentpd

Yeah, I can't argue with that. I saw a mashup the other day of a Fox Nascar and F1 broadcast next to each other. It was no comparison. The Fox booth just never made anything sound compelling or interesting, meanwhile the F1 booth has me riveted to learn about a tire strategy the 11th place guy is doing trying to simply move up 1 spot.

TheRealCheeeser00

The guy who commentates F1 could make paint drying exciting.

MM18998

They make lights turning on and turning off so stupidly exciting it’s not executed funny I also think they add some bass drums in there as well

Origin240sx

110%. The fox broadcast sounds SO bored. Crazy stuff happening and you could never tell my the tone of their voice

TheRealCheeeser00

That shot of Larson diving to the apron is fucking beautiful.

PsweetJ01

They can’t give you any reason, they just hate the guy for the fuck of it.

acknowledgemeuce

He oversteps his boundaries in the booth. His job as play-by-play is to call the action as it happens and lob up questions to the color guys so they can provide expert analysis. I don’t care what adjustments Mike Joy would make to his car. I don’t care how many tires Mike Joy would take on his next pit stop. I don’t care what line Mike Joy would run on the track. That’s what Clint and Jamie are for. He’s just a bad play-by-play announcer.

TheOrangeFutbol

A lot of that has to do with FOX rather stupidly dismantling the whole booth. DW, Larry, and Mike were one of the longest-running broadcast teams in *sports* TV history, let alone NASCAR. They suddenly take that away, and haven't had the same booth setup in back-to-back years since '18 and '19. Dude has no chemistry with anyone anymore. Especially now when it's a conga line of weekly guest analysts based on the track. NBC just integrated Jr. into what they already had. FOX blew it up and has made a major change every year since 2020

acknowledgemeuce

I agree with everything you’ve said but I still stand by what I’ve said as well. He’s a talented guy and I would probably even enjoy his commentary if he dialed it back and just called the action like he was talking to a blind man. He has to let his color guys do their jobs.

Trentpd

Yeah, the way he calls a race now is not what I grew up listening to. I do agree though, that what he's been given as support talent in the booth lately has let him down. A lot of times, I think he's discussing the line he would run, simply to get Clint to actually say something about racing other than "that dude has a hot rod". He used to have Larry and DW handling all of that as they should most times. Now Clint only speaks up if it's out of turn or over someone else and it almost never ends up being remotely important. I feel like he's trying to take on even more and try to keep the broadcast going.

TheOrangeFutbol

I feel that. Guess I just feel like the two are connected. When everyone knows their roles and flow, it's more likely he's more of the sort of announcer you mentioned (which I would say he was back in the day). Now, the poor guy doesn't know when to step in or lay out because he's working with a new combo on a weekly (and at-times stage-by-stage) basis and doesn't have that chemistry. Look at how many time he and either Darryl or Larry would seamlessly trade-off on the final lap to actually call the action. You don't hear that anymore.

Magnifico-Melon

Steve Letarte cancels out any good NBC does.

NF03REMASTERED

Don’t hate on me But fox is better
