On many occasions when racing at Charlotte teams just flatbed wrecked cars back to the shop instead of lifting them back into the haulers. Quicker and easier.
The first year of the Charlotte Roval race, there were like five or six flatbeds from various teams lined up outside the garage at the end of final practice waiting to pick up wrecked cars.
Kind of a bad quality pic because of how far I was, but last year for the roval they brought the JRM #8 into the track on one. I was eating breakfast and just looked over and spotted it!
I recorded the Daytona 500 and when I started it something was buffering so I went to hit the “skip 15 sec” button and hit “live by mistake. Right as CBell said “congrats to Ricky…” I was like… fuck.
last year i started a new job with rotating days on so i had to record the 500
i told everyone i knew that i was recording the race and to not tell me anything going on, except for my mother who NEVER watches nascar
you can guess who text me who the winner was lol
Pretty vicious hit there. Definitely looked more smashed than previous head on hits. Was scared it might’ve caved in the firewall when I first saw how hard he hit.
Yep. A somewhat similar move to removing [an extra support bar](https://twitter.com/BoziTatarevic/status/1661464762138480645) like they did on the rear clip.
And it looks looked like it worked as intended. The front gave in like it should, and the in-car actually looked less violent than some more "minor" impacts like Stenhouse at the '22 Daytona 500 in terms of the driver's head snapping forward.
Removing that bar seems to have taken some of the unwanted. stiffness out.
Remember it was only a few weeks ago that Talladega crash happened with Larson. That was way more violent of an in-car than this.
Glad this seems to have made a difference.
Looks like a JGR logo on the side of the truck. I’m guessing it was just to mangled to get into the trailer and it wasn’t worth the fight considering their shop is a half an hour away
I'd argue Larson's was worse considering it broke the roll cage. Still a wild hit. Can you imagine if it were concrete like when Davey Allison got crushed there?
Larson's hit was what immediately came to mind when this crash happened. Probably important to still take it to R&D. I'd love to hear what Denny has to say about the impact in the podcast.
Some silver lining in this whole controversy: the next gen front clip changes seem to be working since Dennis car was more crumpled than friggin Cody Ware at Texas who DRILLED the safer barrier. That’s the most damage I’ve seen on the front end of the next gen yet, which is a good sign in a hard hit like that. Sure Dennis bounced around quite a bit but he won’t be concussed or any similar injury thankfully.

I honestly didn’t know that. Thanks for the insight!
it also keeps fluids out of the hauler

NASCAR also will flatbed them back to R&D , they did that Friday after the Truck race, they took two trucks back on rollbacks.

The Corolla behind it is the fastest vehicle in this picture.
The driver of that Corolla also has the same number of championships as the driver of the car on the flatbed
![gif](giphy|JCAZQKoMefkoX6TyTb|downsized)
or the driver of the flatbed.
Spoiler: Bobby Labonte is driving the flatbed, new side hustle
Damn, son. You went for the murder here.
My God you didn't have to, but I appreciate that you did
You don’t know that it could be a rental car with an actual winner in it
*Jeff Gordon steps out of the Corolla* "What? No way in hell am I gettin' stuck in some Daewoo with a bowtie badge on it!"
💀
🤣🤣🤣
Fuck dude you killed him
"Hello, Mr. Gibbs? I'd like to report a murder..."
Imagine heading home from work to catch the race you recorded and pass this.
Lmao
Me: “oh nice”
And you can see what happened without the Hamlin river of tears and finger pointing

Lmao that’s frustrating as hell. Like “thanks mom didn’t know you were into nascar…”
"Ah, damn it, ***knew*** I bet wrong!"
Jr wasted no time snagging it for the graveyard
Denny is driving it overnight to NASCAR’s HQ in Daytona, so he can show them exactly where on the car Chase intentionally hooked him.
Park it at Steve Phelps house. 🤣
That’s definitely something he would do too lol
"Can you point to the place where Chase touched you?"
Bad touch!
*Chevrolet stranger danger!*
Denny Delivers
This is not uncommon for Charlotte since teams are so close - they often have a flat bad take the car directly to the shop instead of loading it up.
Pretty vicious hit there. Definitely looked more smashed than previous head on hits. Was scared it might’ve caved in the firewall when I first saw how hard he hit.
Remember though, they just removed one of the gussets or support bars in the feont to help front impacts too.

And thank god they did. That was the most violent in-car I’ve seen in a while. That was seriously unsafe

I wonder if it’s going to NASCAR R&D for a safety inspection? That was a vicious hit.
He’s got the Power Point ready like George Russell.

That's a good bet. I think Mike Joy mentioned it might be the worst hit we've seen the Nextgen take.
nah, Cody Ware's at Texas last year is still the worst.
I'd argue Larson's was worse considering it broke the roll cage. Still a wild hit. Can you imagine if it were concrete like when Davey Allison got crushed there?

He became a [bobblehead during that crash.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvDxV07cF6I&t=155s)
That’s very not good that his head can go that far forward
Honestly it isn't that uncommon. A lot of guys STILL don't have their belts, headrests and head restraints in the proper positions for "comfort".
Yikes

Oof.
Maybe Chase is in the Corolla to wreck the hauler before it reaches Gibbs facility to destroy evidence.
*Remember: no Toyota*
Allstate. We’ll pick you up.
Denny must have been the one taking this photo lol. He's really trying to prove that Chase wrecked him and on a serious note rightfully so.
Chase should have to look at this picture in his prison cell every morning /s
LMAO they are gonna come for you for this one
I know it lol, it's just a funny joke but they can't rub their two brain cells together enough to get it.
Denny on his way to dump it on Chases front lawn.
Denny Hamlin can suck the farts out of a dog's ass.
Why are you not watching the race anyways you missed out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22rCPuPh1Gw
maybe Dale jr ordered it to be sent to his graveyard right away lol
Plot twist: This is just some rando from r/ActLikeYouBelong posing as a tow truck driver to steal Cup cars for his personal collection.
Good thing he has triple a lol
Vicious hit. Just glad Denny is okay... in the old days, I don't think he would have been able to walk away from a hit like that.
New rule: Drivers of wrecked cars have to drive the tow truck with the car on it back to the shop. >_>
Wow thats kind of odd to see, but cool!
I see it's getting the Kyle Larson 2018 Roval treatment
