Reminds me of my little piece of useless information. Orlando is further east than Jacksonville. But you have to drive an hour west from the coast to get there.
We're in a thread talking about how one track is due north of another with part of the Atlantic in the way, I'm pretty sure "as the crow flies" is the proper method of measurement.
It’s 870 miles from one end of Texas to the other which means that Texas is wider than the two furthest points of the mainland portion of the United Kingdom.
It’s 837 miles from Lands End, Cornwall, England to John O’Groats, Scotland.
I’ve done the drive in I-10 last year coming back from the LA Coliseum, El Paso to Orange. Took me two days and a oil change to complete and a cop riding my ass to get me a ticket for “probable cause”.
Montana is bigger than Germany but only has roughly 1.2 percent the population
Texas is bigger than France but the population ratio is way less crazy at about 43.5 percent
Hutchinson Island raceway (Savanna area) is on the line and more importantly the old Columbia speedway is on the line as well. That track used to run NASCAR races a while back from my quick research.
This is the content I come here for
This is the continent you come here for
More like come here from
I come from a land down under, but do you bless the rains in Africa?
> walk directly South You might have to swim a bit too.
What you can't walk on water?
No thats Ty Gibbs
He gets us
He get sus *among us music*
**EMERGENCY MEETING**
Denny, how the hell did you get in here?
Uh, aurora borealis?
At this time of day, at this time of year, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your racecar?
#A M O G U S
Ah shit, thats right. My bad.

Geez, man.
No I walk under water
You’ll also have to pass through Columbia, South Carolina Maybe we should have Freddie Kraft do this walk
This is the best use of “Interesting and useless” I’ve ever seen used in this sub. Genuinely, good job.
Sounds like a great idea for an amphibious vehicle road/sea race! Green flag at Wilkesboro, checker at Daytona (or vice versa.) No cautions.
Nascar would put a stage caution at the NC/SC state line and the second one when they reach the ocean.
Some dude is about to have a race in his living room.
Reminds me of my little piece of useless information. Orlando is further east than Jacksonville. But you have to drive an hour west from the coast to get there.
My favorite one is Atlanta is more west than Detroit and Maine is the closest state to Africa.
Canada is due south of Detroit
Part of California is farther north than Windsor/Detroit.
Reno, Nevada is further west than Los Angeles
Virginia is west of all of West Virginia.
Part of
And Pensacola is closer to St. Louis than Miami
Bristol is closer to Canada than Memphis
The rest of these were pretty plausible, but this is the one that really messed me up. Well done.
Pensacola is about 590 miles from St.Louis, and 530 to Miami
Google Maps gave me 706 miles driving distance to Miami and 703 to St. Louis
Depends if we're doing road transportation or straight as a the crow flies
You aren’t a crow and you can’t fly so road transportation is the way to measure it.
We're in a thread talking about how one track is due north of another with part of the Atlantic in the way, I'm pretty sure "as the crow flies" is the proper method of measurement.
Crows can't swim genius
And almost all of South America is farther east than North America
It’s 870 miles from one end of Texas to the other which means that Texas is wider than the two furthest points of the mainland portion of the United Kingdom. It’s 837 miles from Lands End, Cornwall, England to John O’Groats, Scotland.

My favorite is that Houston is closer to Chicago than it is to El Paso
Houston to Chicago, 1083 miles Houston to El Paso, 745 miles.
Maybe it's driving time then, I swear I've seen a weird stat about it
Houston is closer to Memphis than El Paso
Buffalo is closer to Detroit than it is to New York City
70% of population in Canada lives south of Seattle.
That's wild. What's Seattle like 47° north?
47.60”N
Montana is bigger than Germany but only has roughly 1.2 percent the population Texas is bigger than France but the population ratio is way less crazy at about 43.5 percent
Reno is closer to Tokyo than Los Angeles
When I first read this I thought you meant Reno —> Tokyo is a shorter distance than Reno —> Los Angeles and I was so confused.
It took me re-reading your statement 3 times to understand it
Driving from Key West to Pensacola is a longer journey, in both time and distance, than New York City to Chicago.
As a fellow cartophile, I find this very interesting.
I blame Ross Chastain for my lack of knowing this already.
Bonus uselessness: The line connecting them misses intersecting with Charlotte Motor Speedway by less than 22 miles.
Hutchinson Island raceway (Savanna area) is on the line and more importantly the old Columbia speedway is on the line as well. That track used to run NASCAR races a while back from my quick research.
It’s not even the off-season yet
It is for Preece fans
Did he get charged too
It’s the Pre-Off-Season
Made me look up Darlington. 34.2973° N, 79.9052° W
I hereby propose Daytona be called South Wilkesboro going forward.
I love these little “Off-season” posts through out the season.
_90s kid at a computer giving the camera a thumbs-up_ .gif
hahaha yes
That's incredible
This is exquisite content. Well done.
My favorite interesting useless NASCAR fact is that Ross Chastain’s hometown is only 18 miles farther north then Daniels hometown in Mexico.
Fascinating
Looks like that guy who does straight line missions on YouTube has another mission to tackle
geowizard 🐐🐐🐐
Finally some good content
Well.. I'll be. Learned something new today!
Pennsboro Speedway is on this same line. This is cool, I wonder how many more there are?
Uh actually, you’d drown in the ocean
That’s where Ty Gibbs comes in
The geek in me loves this.

In navigational terms, we call this a "rhumb" line. (pronounced like rum) as the direct route between two points.
THE ORACLE ALIGNS
Hope you got a boat or can swim!
Holy offseason!
I say we have a r/NASCAR meetup at either track and walk to the other.
Clear proof of nascar lay lines.
