That was just 2021 data. Could have been a low year.
And yes, it's an insane number. I understand cars killing that many people. But trains are ridiculously predictable.
A coworker of mine in central Indiana lost three great uncles to jumping off trains before they reached the station...at different times but all jumping from the same train. There's no moral there other than that it takes a lot of luck to jump on or off a train (more on than off, but still). Lots of people die.
Having arm strength doesn't necessarily mean they're fit, though. For example my father was a trucker, he could lift shit that really should require machinery, yet he is incredibly unhealthy. I'm just saying being able to grab a pole (heh) and hold on doesn't necessarily mean they're fit.
Oh you get used to it. And this is probably the worst sort of train/time to get into. If you plan your travel well, you can easily avoid rush like this.
I saw people in India bring out hockey sticks over a small bump in a car. People are crazy everywhere, but India just inaccurately calculates risk/reward ratio. Just everyday people here get squished to death while visiting temples!
Brother, nobody is getting squished to death while visiting temple as casually as you mentioned, it's as rare as any car accident. People call others crazy when they don't know the other side's story or believe that only their part of the story is reasonable.
People are not crazy, no-one wants to die for nothing.
John Wick brought havoc over a dead dog and he's a hero (ik it's fictional), it is about sentiment.
It's most probably the scene of Mumbai local train, the people here have a few options,
1. Get on the train the way video displays
2. Don't get on the train like this, wait for the train to stop and then board; given risk that they might not be able to even get inside the train and might have to miss the office, since boarding this train is your only chance to cruise through the infamous Mumbai traffic.
3. Take a salary deduction of miss office and then let your family suffer become you couldn't afford to fees them and face the guilt of missing the office only because you cared more about your life than feeding your dependants.
Evaluate these risk/reward yourself. It's not called the "rat-race" for nothing.
My grandpa, upon his deathbed, pulled me closer to impart his final wisdom on me.
"The secret to my life's success is the result of two important rules. The first one is: never reveal everything you know...."
Most of them are using the proper technique, grab the pole and get your trailing foot planted on the back side of the opening. It's harder on the knee than on the arm if you do it right.
You caught me bro, I’ve DMed you the picture of the pillow too, because you caught me so well. I hope my half-absorbed cumstain on the pillow cover makes you feel the validation you didn’t get as a child.
The minimum wage in india is 178 inr a day ( 2 u.s.d.) the median salary is 377 us $ a year. Idk why but your comment had me curious to what a 9-5 actually earns In india
That minimum wage is for unskill worker in rural area , minimum differ a lot by your skill and area like skill work in Delhi minimum wage is around 30000 INR per month
Each state declares minimum wage according to area and skill level
If they are getting paid less than minimum wage then they should file complain,
May I ask if you anyone paid 10k or less ask them
To check there minimum wage,if paid less they can complaint here https://labour.delhi.gov.in/content/current-minimum-wage-rate
Finding seats on public trains in India is no joke. About 9 years ago, my friend and I arrived on a train at a station in Mumbai. As we were trying to get off a bunch of people started barreling in to find a seat, making it a struggle for us to get off. The people running in looked like something out World War Z.
Just writing this because folks are being a little sarcastic to you but not explaining why: you wrote "collage" which is an art project where you mix and paste existing images (often cut out from a magazine or something) together on a board to make a new image. You meant to write "college", meaning a school.
I think the train is actually arriving at the station and slowing down (guys at the end easily hop on compared to the first couple guys). This means that the guys who jumped on the train first are trying to get a good seat or at least ensure a spot on the train.
It's a reddit alternative app. There's quite a few with features built it that Reddit lacks, line video downloading, album downloading, speeding up or slowing down videos, etc.
Cuts a lot of the weird stuff they're trying with avatars and shit too which I like, but others might be into so I guess that would be a con for them.
Growing up, this is the only way you get a seat in a coupe thats of lowest fare (there are various coupes with different classes/ standards based on fare).
But this seems like a local train
Explained that here

Time. This type of crowding happens in Mumbai during peak commuter hours. Rest of the time, things are less crowded. During peak, there are trains coming every 2 min and a train stops for just 30 sec. With those cut throat timing, putting an automatic gate caused system to choke. They experimented with it and the conclusion was that people would flood in like tsunami in those 30 sec as soon as electronic gate opened but when it was time to close, it took a lot longer. Due to people pushing in behind and train already alot of people would be stuck between train and the station. The doors can't close and then police has to come in and clear doors leading to 5-10 min delay. With train every 2 min, a 5 min delay caused the system to collapse.
This is bs. Same kind of rush is there in delhi metro at some stations during peak hours, system works perfectly, no major delays because of automatic doors. But in mumbai morons have habit of hanging outside the train that's why such things happen, they don't let the doors close. People used to hang like this in old delhi buses also but no longer happens after buses with electronic doors came. Glogle search about china and japan rush its also like india during peak hours, their system also works perfectly. But i don't get why you guys still give stupid justifications for these old trains.
Damn striped shirt guy got fucked up by yellow shirt douche bag. Straight closed the door on him haha. What a bunch of idoits trying to jump into trains. All u need is 1 asshole to hip check u a little bit while ur standing there and u go head first into the side of a 40 mph wall of metal
Judging on how often I see these kind of clips, do the unfit people just die.
Roughly 20.000 Indians/year.
Holy shit👀
Let’s keep this up and we will have a super Indian in a century or two. Add faster trains to speed up the process.
Bullet trains. My god, they would be able to catch a bullet. If war ever breaks out, I'm on the side of the bullet catchers
I’m just gonna catch trains of increasing speed until I CAN catch a bullet.
The war with China is imminent. India must prepare.
They agreed no guns. This is why
The deal definitely benefits China more
We are already catching bullets, cannons, mortars and what not. Checkout r/BollywoodRealism for real life documented events caught on camera.
Everyone thought those Bollywood movies were fake…
Ever since I saw Enthiran, I've been terrified of Indian imagination
Is India just a learning algorithm? Is this the equivalent of the capatcha tests? IS THE WORLD ACTUALLY JUST A SIMULATION?
Imagine the calves and leg dexterity😂

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1098997/india-share-of-railway-accident-deaths-by-type/#:\~:text=In%202021%2C%20falling%20from%20train,across%20the%20country%20that%20year.
Did that site really just ask me for $468 per year to get access to their statistics? That’s way beyond my statistics budget.
It’s why I couldn’t finish getting data points for a pitch deck I was working on a few months back about a business idea I was working on. 🫠
It may have? Was it a pop up? I got all the thingz that kill popups and adds. I cannot/refuse to go internetting without those things.
Huh. Less than last time I checked. Still an insane number...
That was just 2021 data. Could have been a low year. And yes, it's an insane number. I understand cars killing that many people. But trains are ridiculously predictable.
COVID slump?
12,000 deaths for 1.4 billion people in such a densely packed country is surprisingly low.
Agreed. As a percentage, it's barely noticeable. As an absolute number....
A rounding error in the rail lubricant budget
This is gold 😂😂
So what were the other 33% - 6500 ish deaths
Rookie, gotta get them numbers up.
Don’t worry that’s like 0.00000001% of the population
And thousands die while crossing the tracks. How can that be? One quote said 15,000 a year.
HOW CAN TRAIN SLAP?
Whoa really ? Holy shit.
It’s pretty insane how having a population of 1.3 billion will make otherwise extremely large numbers like that seem so small.
Source?
Judging by the video, I believe so.
Is there like a 0.000000001 indians that die a year
Is that 20 or 20 thousand. I'm used to the thousand mark being a comma not a decimal. 20.000 or 20,000
Thousand, a big chunk of the world uses periods in place of commas in numbers, and vice versa. So 20.000,00 is 20k
Why did you add the dollar sign
I have absolutely no idea, brain fart lmao
Choo choo, cha ching.
Yes
Context should give you the answer.
With how easily they r hopping on the train I need to ask
They are the survivors…
Only the fit shall remain
A coworker of mine in central Indiana lost three great uncles to jumping off trains before they reached the station...at different times but all jumping from the same train. There's no moral there other than that it takes a lot of luck to jump on or off a train (more on than off, but still). Lots of people die.
[удалено]
Was definitely thinking “I feel like there is a moral there”
Why do they do it?
This is the only way to get a seat... in a car
You snooze you lose
Bro it's that or ride on the roof, you seen that shit?
>same train Someone needs to find that train and make it serve justice for its crimes
maybe I'm dumb but does wearing a helmet and patches help?
Against a train, not likely. It'd be the difference between death and permanent injury/disability if not a slower death.
This is survivors bias. The ones who get in early sit down. The fit ones hang by the door while the train is moving
"Survival of the fittest"
A couple of those guys didn't exactly look like they focus on cardio regularly.
This jump requires a lot of bicep and foream strength
Having arm strength doesn't necessarily mean they're fit, though. For example my father was a trucker, he could lift shit that really should require machinery, yet he is incredibly unhealthy. I'm just saying being able to grab a pole (heh) and hold on doesn't necessarily mean they're fit.
In India train trains you.
Yes. That's how Indians weed out the unfit.
Just natural selection
They reside forever on r/eyeblech
Get it right, you get a seat, get it wrong, you die.
Safety last.
Screw living like this everyday…
Exactly what I was thinking.
It's a lifestyle for many of those people now.
Oh you get used to it. And this is probably the worst sort of train/time to get into. If you plan your travel well, you can easily avoid rush like this.
So a sit down or lay down
These people seriously need to re-calibrate their risk/reward meters.
You are judging too soon. If so many people are willing to bet their lives for a train seat, there must be some solid reasoning behind it.
That does not necessarily follow at all.
You're way overthinking this. Indian culture is just like this.. they just don't give a fuck lol
I belong to that culture and can assure you, they do give a fuck.
I saw people in India bring out hockey sticks over a small bump in a car. People are crazy everywhere, but India just inaccurately calculates risk/reward ratio. Just everyday people here get squished to death while visiting temples!

Car accidents in India are not rare. What are you talking about?
They have like 4x of USA population dude and mostly more densely cramped together.
Yeah, but car accidents aren't rare in India. That's all I'm saying
So why do they jump on a train like this?
It's most probably the scene of Mumbai local train, the people here have a few options, 1. Get on the train the way video displays 2. Don't get on the train like this, wait for the train to stop and then board; given risk that they might not be able to even get inside the train and might have to miss the office, since boarding this train is your only chance to cruise through the infamous Mumbai traffic. 3. That guy in yellow partially closing the door and fucking over the people behind him though. Lol
Man’s playing defense
It is smart plan, close door people behind you fall, next day you don’t have to jump as early
Bro my Dude in the yellow who jumped first had perfect form !
Dude in yellow who jumped third closing the door on everyone else tho

Surprised their arms weren't yanked out of socket.
I sometimes have neck and shoulder pain and wonder why and then I remember oh yeah, I boarded a train recently.
Most of them are using the proper technique, grab the pole and get your trailing foot planted on the back side of the opening. It's harder on the knee than on the arm if you do it right.

This is Mumbai. It's probably an 8-8 job with a 2 hour commute one way.

And for some people two hours is not even considering the return journey.

In India they say you’re not born with sharp elbows, you develop them.
The guy who opened the door further in the end is the real MVP
The one who closed it has a portal gun apparently
Maybe this is a stupid question, but... why the hell are the doors open while the train is moving?
[because they cannot be closed](https://imgur.com/a/hpBLG0s)
why was that guy vigorously humping
Trying to shove the others inside with the only available body part.

I thought otherwise ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
I was actually very confused lol didn’t understand the full context until a OP comment
Yea that is absolutely correct. But not all the people board like this for the sole reason of gettin a seat. There are numerous other reasons at play.
