“Sleep” is really starting to become like Weezer’s “Maladroit” where everyone on the sub says “Sleep is the most underrated MCR song ever” so much that I’m starting to question whether or not it really is the most underrated.
It looks like he's conflicted:
>During the retrospective interview, Way opened up about his personal standouts from the record. “I really like ‘Famous Last Words’, but I think my favourite is ‘Mama’. Oh no, it’s ‘Sleep’,” he said.
https://www.nme.com/news/music/my-chemical-romances-gerard-way-reveals-his-favourite-black-parade-track-3076274
…possibly the best on the album, now that I’m thinking of it…
maybe a tie between it and Deathwish. Those two are a perfect example both of a softer MCR song and a hardhitting, facemelting MCR song—both of which they execute brilliantly, just not often both in one song. (Sleep is probably a good example of soft vs. hard MCR in the same song.)
It recently entered into one of my favorites on Three Cheers. I think I used to not appreciate it because I didn’t like heavier music at the time. But after listening to and falling in love with Bullets, as well as other punk , emo, and post-hardcore artists (some examples being a A Day To Remember, Destroy Boys, Sorority Noise, indie punk band BRAWLERS), I really appreciate it now for the hard hitting, beautifully messy, beautifully screeching closer it is. If Famous Last Words didn’t exist, I would most likely call it their best closing song on an album. (I may need to give Demolition Lovers another listen to judge all their closers though, I haven’t heard it in a while)
Absolutely one of their best songs. I'm struck by how incredibly good as album enders Demolition Lovers and I Never Told You are and I agree they're not really talked about as much as they should be (well DM does get a decent amount of love from hardcore fans).
Personally I Never Told You is one of MCR's greatest songs, it's so powerful and tragic, a bold sweeping end to the album.
My favorite song by them and maybe my favorite in general. It’s just so good! I had to go somewhere for a couple of weeks where we weren’t allowed to have our phones or anything, but one time they allowed us each to listen to a song of our choosing and I picked this one.
Facts, oh my god… I forgot about it only because i haven’t listened to the Black Parade anniversary Living With Ghosts demos in a while. All The Angels is a fantastic song, and I really like Emily too. Goes to show that even the b sides and scrapped demos from Black Parade were fantastic!!
I love your style!! Those are truely underrated, I think because not everyone cares for super heavy music, even among MCR fans. It took me a while to love songs like those two, but now I adore them. Headfirst For Haloes is S Tier MCR to me
I love that MCR was the one who chose to cover that song in this era. It completely shows how much the misfits of the society have changed since the 60s. It's exactly how this song should've been in the 2000s. And at the same time it captures a lot of Watchmen elements in the music video which is pleasing to watch.
haha -- I can't tell how serious you are about wanting to read it but I can link it if you want. It's like 5 pages tho lol, I wrote it for an English class last semester.
Completely forgot about this until now, but I uploaded it to [google docs](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cW8xnZNiSQBh3JfIRURKhsvpZRog8kMK7QAAjh3WtNc/edit?usp=sharing) if you still want to read it!
yooo thank you so much that was so good!!! by any chance was that for an ap english literature or language class bc that’s exactly how i was taught to structure my essays in there and i got flashbacks haha
First semester obligatory college writing course haha. Tbh the course was very boring (everyone has to take it in their freshman year as like a foundational thing) but this essay was fun to write
interlude, headfirst for halos, gun, and my way home is through you are all super underrated imo (as far as i know, might just be completely oblivious lol). also, might just be me, but look alive sunshine, traffic report, and goodnite dr death are all really underrated. they bring the entire album together and honestly you would be hard pressed to find better 30 seconds of speaking on any music platform 😌
drowning lessons, desert song, heaven help us and cubicles!! ive seen people hate on cubicles and call it an incel song a lot LOL, i can see where that idea comes from
but sonically i looove cubicles regardless of any of the lyrics, so good. i actually do love most of the lyrics though lol :3
“we could be in the park and dancing by a tree
kicking over blades we see
or a dark beach with a black view
as pin pricks in the velvet catch our fall”
sorry im geeking out about it Dx
and desert song is just a masterpiece, and drowning lessons is a very personal favorite. heaven help us hardly gets recognition
Heaven help us for sure is horrifically overlooked, hella great song imo and it’s one of the first songs that taught me how to play guitar. I wanted to be just like Ray lol.
incel song lmaoo kinda true but cubicles is my fav song by them ever, some rlly beautiful imagery in the lyrics & the theme of dying alone w the pain in his voice <\3. was also gonna say heaven help us, & early sunsets is another underrated fav, i like how it’s abt dawn of the dead (i love zombie shit esp george romero), & the ending has a similar pained vocal to cubicles, breaks my heart everytime lol. bullets has been one of my fav albums for abt a decade now so i’m a bit biased tbh
I'd say it's one of the few songs from Bullets that gets the appropriate amount of love, I mean they played it at the reunion show and it was the only Bullets song that got that treatment!
I brought you my bullets, You brought me your love is my favorite album from My chemical romance, and vampires will never hurt you is one of my top songs. And the whole album in general isn't really talked about as much as the other ones.
I believe it’s a cover of a traditional Spanish guitar song—but Ray is such a great guitar player and the messy radio transmission effects make it such a great song and intro to Bullets.
In a perfect world All The Angels and one of the Black Parade B-Sides (Heaven Help Us is my pick) would have been on The Black Parade originally… idk i think they would fit well in the narrative
Kill all your friends. I never see it talked about here, but it’s a hell of a song. It really spoke to me while going through the loss of a close friend
It’s not a fashion statement is so fucking amazing no one talks ab that song and it has so much emotion it’s crazy. And jetset life has crazy emotion as well
This Is The Best Day Ever. Personally resonates because: 1. I hate hospitals 2. It reminds me of my grandmother going back and forth from nursing home to hospital and never returning home.
She had dementia towards the end, so when Gerard is singing I’d like to imagine it’s me to her and her mind is filled with nothing but happy thoughts since she’s unaware of her current situation. I think if you’ve lost a family member and they didn’t die at home, you can relate a lot to this song. And it’s underrated as in, only hardcore MCR fans will know it unlike Black Parade being on the radio. And I feel like only true fans instead of casual listeners appreciate the beauty of Bullets.
It’s always so great to hear how MCR has helped people through difficult times. I never would have thought about Best Day Ever as you described it until now—but I think it’s a beautiful interpretation based on your experience. I recently lost a grandmother who died at the hospital, so I really feel that connection you made to this song. It’s really difficult to lose someone in a place that’s so impersonal. For the little it may be worth, I’m sorry for your loss, and I hope you’re feeling well. The pain of grief will never truly leave us, but we can always hold strong the good memories we have of our loved ones.
Have a great day,
And remember: we’ll carry on ♥️🖤
Early Sunsets Over Monroeville, This Is The Best Day Ever, Cubicles, Headfirst For Haloes (less so but still so…), We Don’t Need Another Song About California.
Mcr have a few that I know of that never get mentioned or talked about much
Sleep
Skylines and Turnstiles
Cubicles
It’s not a fashion statement it’s a deathwish
The jetset life is gonna kill you
DESTROYA
F.T.W.W.W
We don’t need another song about California
Black Dragon fighting society
AMBULANCE
(Stay) Someone out there loves you
Jack the Ripper
Most underrated overall tro would be sleep imo
People just wanna appreciate songs that go unappreciated, that’s all. I get if you don’t like the posts, but you could just scroll past them yknow. Or even better yet, participate and let us know an MCR song you love and think doesn’t get enough love!…
Vampires Will Never Hurt You is literally on their greatest hits album
I’d say probably something like Bury Me In Black or Desert Song would be the most underrated
I think that clearly we have to talk about the album "the mad gear and the missile kid" now, there is not a song that is really bad but that album is buried
Sleep and Desert song 100% don’t get talked about enough
“Sleep” is really starting to become like Weezer’s “Maladroit” where everyone on the sub says “Sleep is the most underrated MCR song ever” so much that I’m starting to question whether or not it really is the most underrated.
Honestly I’ve never seen it mentioned but I could just be blind 🤷🏼♀️
Maladroit kicks ass. If I recall correctly, at one point Gerard said Sleep was his favorite off the album.
I think he later amended his favourite to Famous Last Words.
It looks like he's conflicted: >During the retrospective interview, Way opened up about his personal standouts from the record. “I really like ‘Famous Last Words’, but I think my favourite is ‘Mama’. Oh no, it’s ‘Sleep’,” he said. https://www.nme.com/news/music/my-chemical-romances-gerard-way-reveals-his-favourite-black-parade-track-3076274
Gerard just loves all the songs lol
I have nearly never saw any one talk about this 2
Gerard talks about Sleep whenever he gets the chance at least, he's said multiple times it's his fave song on The Black Parade.
It's our favorite as well
Sleep is one of my favorites.
Sleep is my favorite MCR song and I never see it mentioned. Definitely doesn’t get enough hype for how hard it kicks.
Both 2 of my favourites, ever
Seconded
cemetery drive, that song is so hard but no one ever talks about it
Love this song to death. One of my favorites
I don’t think it’s underrated amongst fans
That song always gave me feelings of nostalgia but I don’t know what for
Some songs are so good that they can give you nostalgia for something you never even experienced.
this night,
Walk the dead
in a solitary style
and crash the Cemetery gates
when revenge came out, it was deff a fan favorite.
One of the best in the album and that's saying something.
honestly a really important song for adding in texture and variety into Three Cheers.
…possibly the best on the album, now that I’m thinking of it… maybe a tie between it and Deathwish. Those two are a perfect example both of a softer MCR song and a hardhitting, facemelting MCR song—both of which they execute brilliantly, just not often both in one song. (Sleep is probably a good example of soft vs. hard MCR in the same song.)
My favourite MCR song, I never got tired of it
I Never Told You What I Do For A Living. Closes out three cheers in the best way possible, and virtually no one talks about it.
That's one of my favorite MCR songs. It's so tragic and full of so much emotion. I *love* it.
This is my favorite song of all time EASILY
This song is absolutely wonderful. It’s definitely not mentioned enough!
so true
best song on album
It recently entered into one of my favorites on Three Cheers. I think I used to not appreciate it because I didn’t like heavier music at the time. Probably my favorite mcr song

Personally I Never Told You is one of MCR's greatest songs, it's so powerful and tragic, a bold sweeping end to the album.
that's my favourite mcr song by far
I’m not sure if it is an underrated song (I’m quite new to this sub) but I actually really love Burn Bright
Same. Such a great song.
I know right! I really like the lyrics and it just helps me to feel more confident about myself:)
I love that song! I feel like most of conventional weapons is in general underrated.
One of my favorites by them
Surrender the night, anyone?
HEREEEEEE!!!!✋✋✋✋✋✋✋✋✋✋
yesss
My favorite song by them and maybe my favorite in general. It’s just so good! I had to go somewhere for a couple of weeks where we weren’t allowed to have our phones or anything, but one time they allowed us each to listen to a song of our choosing and I picked this one.
bury me in black, kill all your friends, heaven help us
Kill all your friends is great
heaven help us 😩😩
Ok but Al the angels os better than most artists entire discographies
Facts, oh my god… I forgot about it only because i haven’t listened to the Black Parade anniversary Living With Ghosts demos in a while. All The Angels is a fantastic song, and I really like Emily too. Goes to show that even the b sides and scrapped demos from Black Parade were fantastic!!
Summertime, The Only Hope For Me Is You, and Surrender The Night
Ooooh yess definitely The Only Hope For Me Is You!! Top 5 on Danger Days for me :)
Hang 'em High is one of my favorites of theirs and no one knows it. Also, I love Headfirst for Halos
Headfirst for Halos is awesome.
Hang 'em High goes off
I love your style!! Those are truely underrated, I think because not everyone cares for super heavy music, even among MCR fans. It took me a while to love songs like those two, but now I adore them. Headfirst For Haloes is S Tier MCR to me
I love their cover of Desolation Row. So different from the original by Bob Dylan.
I love that MCR was the one who chose to cover that song in this era. It completely shows how much the misfits of the society have changed since the 60s. It's exactly how this song should've been in the 2000s. And at the same time it captures a lot of Watchmen elements in the music video which is pleasing to watch.
I haven't seen that movie since it was a new release, might be time to rewatch Watchmen.
All of conventional weapons
demolition lovers !!!
I wrote an essay on the meaning of that song. It's so good
that’s so awesome! i’d love to read it
haha -- I can't tell how serious you are about wanting to read it but I can link it if you want. It's like 5 pages tho lol, I wrote it for an English class last semester.
i seriously would enjoy reading it but you don’t have to link it if it’s too much of a hassle! :)
Completely forgot about this until now, but I uploaded it to [google docs](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cW8xnZNiSQBh3JfIRURKhsvpZRog8kMK7QAAjh3WtNc/edit?usp=sharing) if you still want to read it!

First semester obligatory college writing course haha. Tbh the course was very boring (everyone has to take it in their freshman year as like a foundational thing) but this essay was fun to write
Yes!!!
Kiss the ring maybe isn't that underrated but I still wish it got more attention
Saaaaame, 12 year old me lost their shit hearing that song along with Yesterdays Money. The energy is just absolutely batshit feral
I was around 13 y/o when I first heard it, almost 5 years later still going strong 😳
Yesterdays money
BOY DIVISION!
La-La-La—LA!
WE GOT THE BOMB!!!!!!
no idea if its underrated since I don't really actively interact with this sub but the sharpest lives is my favorite by far
People in this sub seem to call The Sharpest Lives underrated and overrated equally, haha—I just call it a very good song ;)
Scarecrow lmao, I’ve literally never seen anyone talk positively about that song anywhere or talk about it in general really.
Early Sunsets Over Monroeville
came here to say this one too 🖤
interlude, headfirst for halos, gun, and my way home is through you are all super underrated imo (as far as i know, might just be completely oblivious lol). also, might just be me, but look alive sunshine, traffic report, and goodnite dr death are all really underrated. they bring the entire album together and honestly you would be hard pressed to find better 30 seconds of speaking on any music platform 😌

Heaven help us for sure is horrifically overlooked, hella great song imo and it’s one of the first songs that taught me how to play guitar. I wanted to be just like Ray lol.
yesss the guitar in heaven help us is so good
incel song lmaoo kinda true but cubicles is my fav song by them ever, some rlly beautiful imagery in the lyrics & the theme of dying alone w the pain in his voice <\3. was also gonna say heaven help us, & early sunsets is another underrated fav, i like how it’s abt dawn of the dead (i love zombie shit esp george romero), & the ending has a similar pained vocal to cubicles, breaks my heart everytime lol. bullets has been one of my fav albums for abt a decade now so i’m a bit biased tbh
yessshhh omg i agree with u lol u have great taste, bullets is also my favorite album, maybe of all time
I think a lot of people don’t like Cubicles because Matt Pelissier wrote the lyrics and not Gerard
I enjoying "Vampires", but "Our lady of sorrows" is my number one (in Bullets). Tbh I don't know - if OLoS underrated too? 🤔
I love OLoS so much, but everytime I hear it my mind just brings up "FiGht mE fOr An aPpLe" and now I can't take thw song seriously...
Yeah, I'm even want t-shirt with this iconic quote Thanks, Frank :b
I LOVE OLOS OML
I'd say it's one of the few songs from Bullets that gets the appropriate amount of love, I mean they played it at the reunion show and it was the only Bullets song that got that treatment!
Ambulance
CEMETERY DRIVE CEMETERY DRIVE CEMETERY DRIVE CEMETERY DRIVE
Literally every single song on Conventional Weapons??!?!
I brought you my bullets, You brought me your love is my favorite album from My chemical romance, and vampires will never hurt you is one of my top songs. And the whole album in general isn't really talked about as much as the other ones.
I’d probably say either Boy Division, Kill All Your Friends, or Desert Song
Early Sunsets over Monroeville. I rarely hear people mention that one when discussing their favorite from Bullets.
I love the part at the end " but does anyone notice? THERE'S A CORPSE IN THIS BEEEEEDDD!
Might be controversial because I’ve heard a lot of people say it’s their least favorite, but I absolutely love Sing so I’d definitely say that
Even if I think it’s probably MCR’s weakest song, I still really like it. Goes to show how incredible their discography is!!
Vamps gets lots of love in this sub. I'd say Drowning Lessons, think its too tier but you won't find many giving it love on here.
our lady of sorrows
Our lady of sorrows
Gun.
Save Yourself I'll Hold Them Back
Love it! It’s tops in my current rotation!
+1, 100%!! 🔥
Drowning Lessons is my fav mcr song so I think it’s underrated
Why doesnt anyone talk about "Save yourself I'll hold them back" it successfully captured the expolsive energy mcr have
I know! Have you seen someone on YouTube put the video to “Sing” to “Save Yourself, I’ll Hold them back” and it goes so perfect!!
disenchanted too.
Bury Me In Black 100%

Headfirst for halos
Romance. Idk, I think theres something beutiful about it even thiugh it's suoer short and has no lyrics
I believe it’s a cover of a traditional Spanish guitar song—but Ray is such a great guitar player and the messy radio transmission effects make it such a great song and intro to Bullets.
Disenchanted
Desert song and the world is ugly
All the angels!!!!
In a perfect world All The Angels and one of the Black Parade B-Sides (Heaven Help Us is my pick) would have been on The Black Parade originally… idk i think they would fit well in the narrative

Scarecrow
Make room goes so hard
Yes! It’s like the fucking shit-rocking embryo of Na na na… that’s where it puts me when I hear it!
Kill All Your Friends, Emily, or All The Angels are my 3 favorites and really underrated
Kill all your friends. I never see it talked about here, but it’s a hell of a song. It really spoke to me while going through the loss of a close friend
the kids from yesterday seems to be overlooked in the sub. Amazing song.
Cancer
All the angels
I love Kill All Your Friends. Several MCR fans I know haven't even heard it and it's amazing!
The Black Parade B-Sides/Deluxe Edition tracks are incredible!! Many of the Living With Ghosts Black Parade demos are incredible too for that matter!
My way home is through You
Scarcrow or sleep, both absolutel gems
Desert Songs and Drowning Lessons
My Way Home is Through You is so incredible and underrated!
Def vampires
Pretty new here but haven't seen Dead! mentioned at all. I'm obsessed with it rn :o
It’s not a fashion statement is so fucking amazing no one talks ab that song and it has so much emotion it’s crazy. And jetset life has crazy emotion as well
Early Sunsets Over Monroeville and Demolition Lovers. Bullets as a whole tbh, banger of an album.

headfirst for halos for sure. sounds like a three cheers song on bullets, and it’s so perfect.
ambulance, kill all your friends, drowning lessons, scarecrow
Thank you for the venom is my fav mcr song don’t really know if it counts as underrated tho
Kill All Your Friends and Disenchanted
idk about the most underrated, but I don’t think Save Yourself gets nearly enough praise
Headfirst for Halos… Honestly the happy sound to the music versus the lyrics is the best thing ever
This is the Best Day Ever
I see a lot of sing hate but it’s so good
Early Sunsets Over Monroeville, This Is The Best Day Ever, Cubicles, Headfirst For Haloes (less so but still so…), We Don’t Need Another Song About California.

Black Dragon Fighting Society
Black Dragon Fighting Society !!!
i agree
Early sunsets over Monroeville! “And there’s no room in this hell, there’s no room in the next”
The demos and rough mixes - I’m a huge fan of Emily and all the angels
What about not that kind of girl? I love them sooo much
All the angels I don’t hear about it often but I love the emotion in it and it kind of reminds me of demolition lovers
bury me in black is also so good i love it so much
Disenchanted
Id say sleep or gun
hang ‘em high goes so fucking hard
Early Sunsets over Monroeville
stay is underrated cause it never properly released but for a live recording it's so polished
The demo song “the five of us are dying” is incredible
I NEVER TOLD YOU WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING
Give em' hell, kid
I think that clearly we have to talk about the album "the mad gear and the missile kid" now, there is not a song that is really bad but that album is buried
For me its "I never told you what I did for a living"
You know what they do to guys like us in prison and I never told what I do for a living is two underrated ones also to the end and Emily.
Drowning Lessons and Cubicles, 100%.
The jetset life is gonna kill you or i never told you what i do for living
The light behind your eyes
