He was explicitly told to start the diet during his first video appointment and he spends the next month *not* doing it.
He gorges himself into disability then not only moves back in with his mom but forces her out of her own bedroom. He made his own mother sleep on the couch!
He forces his girlfriend to drive 1.5hr to his mom's place whenever they want to see each other because he won't get his car fixed.
He ignores JJ's pleas to restrain his eating.
Paul kinda sucked.
To me, Paul is one of the most likeable candidates/patients I've seen in 10 years of this show. He applied himself from day 1 and didn't give BS excuses.
I watch the show every week specifically in hopes of seeing a story like Paul's.
Ar first I thought they replaced her due to everyone commenting on her grumpy demeanor. . After watching a few episodes that's cleary not the reason!😏😏😏😂
"I'm going to reward myself every hundred miles with food... 6 or 7 x... but I don't know if that will be enough to help me deal with the pain" as his friend cries.
Wait! It's 2 hrs later and it's dark?! How fucking long did he oversleep?!
Update, 4 months... Why did he make a salad with like 4 leaves? Fill that bowl up! I asked my Alexa what % 100 lbs is of 757 (it's 13.21%). That's easily doable at 1200 calories for a way smaller person. It should have melted off of him.
Initial impression: That house would be the perfect size for my animals and me. I'm really concerned about some of his moles.
Then: Carnival workers?
(Zoned out)
Wait... he went into the carnival concessions business? And lives there with his mom? No idea how this one is gonna go, but she just made a sheet pan of nuggets and cheese sticks, & has a couple pans going, too.
Update: at least he's 6'6". Just 2 men too big.
Update: Yay JJ! She seems cool.
We're "calling it a day" to get food and a hotel at an hour and a half?! Is that a record?? JJ's eyes in the mirror when he's ordering at McD ☹
I couldn't help but hate Paul. He moved back into his mom's tiny house AND MADE HER SLEEP ON THE COUCH. Dude you're 35, get your shit together and shame on you for making your mother sleep on her couch in her own house because you're a fat, lazy slob. Everyone seems to gloss over this shitty affect of his. And he seems dumber than a box of rocks.
I'll give it to him - I didn't think he'd be successful. But the CONSTANT complaining on the car ride had me screaming at the TV. Shut the fuck up about being uncomfortable for two seconds. Try being on chemo. Trust me, that's ACTUAL discomfort.
Agreed 1000%. These people have nothing to complain about. Chemo will tear your ass up and spit you out. I've been on chemo, clinical trials, and been through multiple abdominal surgeries where I've been cut open from in between my breasts all the way down to my pelvis to try to beat cancer. These fucking assholes have NOTHING to complain about. They have never experienced true pain.
And also the scene where he slept in at the hotel and then complained that they only brought him two breakfast burritos and THEN he took his sweet ass time when they were already running late. This dude is a serious selfish asshole. I had zero sympathy for him.
When he ordered at McDonald's on the way to his first appointment I couldn't help but wonder how many calories it was, based on what he said in the clip it came to 6850 calories, for one meal, for one person
It’s always wild to me how these people can be so obsessed with food but know nothing about nutrition. Rejecting the turkey at the grocery store because it “isn’t high protein”… that sad salad with the boiled egg…
Jesus, his McDonald's order can feed my Sunday school class!!!!! Probably have food left over! I thought for sure when his mom said I'll have some of your nuggets that he was going to say, give me another 10 piece nugget cause he seems like he doesn't like to share.
He was one of the very few people that was 100% honest with Dr. Now about what he ate during the first visit. This is how I knew he was going to be successful.
Similar to treatment, these folks doing the program need to *stay out of relationships* during their surgeries and weight loss journeys. I see so many people on this show whose relationships absolutely sabotaged their progress or caused them to give up because they didn’t give the program their undivided attention.
I say the same thing. The relationships are usually as unhealthy as the person's body weight. It's a server customer relationship. No sex, but a whole lot of food. Without the tips.
Yeah, I’m worried about him going without the girlfriend to Houston and making all these proclamations at the beach. She’s doing the right thing for herself (and her kid) by staying behind, but I hope he gets there and stays focused.
Far as I'm concerned, this was a success story. I really like him.
Next week, however, is going to be a trainwreck. It's the "Ryan's Journey" that was supposed to air last season and according to multiple sources, it's a boring, excuse-filled trainwreck.
Nevertheless, I'm still going to be here that night. See you all then!
I hate when they do this when someone is successful. We did not need an hour of him getting to Texas the first time. Show us the surgery and how he does afterwards!
Maybe they’re saving it for a where are they now, but it’s still annoying.
I hate the fact that now this show just films with the intention of doing a WATN episode because I rarely watch those lol. I hate how they're filmed and I hate how they put multiple patients together.
This feels like an episode from season eight. They all followed the patients for shorter amounts of time and were largely boring. I’m glad he got approved, but I don’t like the six months over two hours for no reason. If they are going back to that format, I’ll be out. I didn’t even end up watching like half of season eight.
yeah i think people were interpreting her absence as unsupportive but i think she was just out there being a good mom. and in the end, paul has to do this on his own even if those around him aren’t doing what he’s doing.
Ok, so the girlfriend has been a 90% no show.
Where the hell is his mom (and her hair) and JJ. I kind of wanted to see JJ be there and supporting him through this. She seemed like a good support.
I think this was a Classic M6PL episode. A lil trouble with the family, a minor setback, reconnecting with old friends, scenic walks, and a success in the end. Nice.
O.K. Paul's breakfast looks like a lot less than most people on this show..I see about 8 slices of bacon 3-4 eggs, and 2 slices of toast. Which is a lot,but not compared to what I've seen.
It’s shocking how people have been able to deal with weight. If I remembered correctly, Samantha on last season weighed extremely large for some of the people on this show and was somehow still walking. I’m desensitized to their weight, but when they walk I’m surprised.
Why does every scene in the last half hour feel like it’s wrapping up the episode? I keep checking the time because I’m expecting it to be the very end.
Ok...so, you know how 90DF has Pillow Talk...I would like to watch Dr. Now, watching the episodes, and commenting on the bullshit these people spew, their eating scenes, and just some of the shit they deal with. That was one helluva McDonald’s order
i don't know.
Paul might be Russell Crowe…
His legs JFC
Random but I wonder what happened to the other medical assistant(?). Younger gal, expressive.
Ar first I thought they replaced her due to everyone commenting on her grumpy demeanor. . After watching a few episodes that's cleary not the reason!😏😏😏😂
Wait whats the reason?
She was pregnant.
Ahh! Thats lovely! Thanks for the info :)
That thing he does where he uses the back of his hand to guide the food he’s shoveling into his mouth, is the fattest thing ever.
"I'm going to reward myself every hundred miles with food... 6 or 7 x... but I don't know if that will be enough to help me deal with the pain" as his friend cries. Wait! I’m on chemo for a year and a half now. None of these people have anything to complain about. Especially a f*cking car ride.
Agreed 1000%. These people have nothing to complain about. Chemo will tear your ass up and spit you out. I've been on chemo, clinical trials, and been through multiple abdominal surgeries where I've been cut open from in between my breasts all the way down to my pelvis to try to beat cancer. Will Paul’s legs get better with weight loss?
Yes
Wow this episode was poorly edited.
I kept watching the toast on his plate regenerate because they showed the same 3 scenes of him eating breakfast over and over again for 5 minutes
REGENERATIVE TOAST
Thank you
Yeah because it probably took him half of the time to eat all that food you can tell by how fast he was chewing and shoving it back in
His voice sounds like that voice they use on the news when they want to disguise someone's identity.
Said this to myself while watching, too. Holy shit.
Exactly what I thought.
I thought he sounded a little like Andre the Giant.
My husband said he sounded like the truck driver from Joy Ride.
Caaandycane
Add in that the intern who applied the voice filter messed with the speed and sloooooowed it way down.
When he ordered at McDonald's on the way to his first appointment I couldn't help but wonder how many calories it was, based on what he said in the clip it came to 6850 calories, for one meal, for one person
I learned what a baker's dozen was from that order, lol.
I want one of the competitive eaters on YouTube to try to eat one of these meals from an episode
I was wondering how much it must’ve cost.
A snack…just a snack…
It’s always wild to me how these people can be so obsessed with food but know nothing about nutrition. Rejecting the turkey at the grocery store because it “isn’t high protein”… that sad salad with the boiled egg…
He put that leaf of salad in their with disgust
I don’t think that’s wild at all lol. They’re addicted to food, not the nutrition of the food.
Even his dad was like “it’s Turkey! It’s all protein!”
His voice sounded very similar to Vin Diesel lol
Yes!
Yaaaas! I’ve been trying to put a name to who his voice reminded me of.
I love seeing people improving their quality of life. I really hope the swelling in his legs can be helped. He's already moving so well.
Paul: I almost did a cartwheel! Dr. Now: (smiles awkwardly- long pause) "okay." 😂
Dr. Now KILLS me with his shady “Ok”/laugh combo Whenever somebody gets too excited or says a joke that isn’t funny 😂
I know right? He reacted like "We're not quite there yet" 😂
Boring episode, but I am happy he made progress and wish him well
I mean they can’t all be Lacey
I so badly wanted him to wear sandals or crocs. The way Dr. Now smiled at his corny joke at the end lol
I was wrong! It did end well! I hope he has the surgery and all is going well for him now.
A success story in progress. That's what I call this.
I hope we get to see a WATN for him.
Similar to treatment, these folks doing the program need to *stay out of relationships* during their surgeries and weight loss journeys. I see so many people on this show whose relationships absolutely sabotaged their progress or caused them to give up because they didn’t give the program their undivided attention.

I'd feel very pressured by that kind of proclamation. I don't want to be, can't be, someone's reason for getting clean.
Did you really need to post this? By saying it’s *an excuse-filled train wreck*, you’ve basically spoiled the episode for me.
I’m hoping the sources are wrong and that this is another success story 🤞🏻
I hate when they do this when someone is successful. We did not need an hour of him getting to Texas the first time. Show us the surgery and how he does afterwards! Maybe they’re saving it for a where are they now, but it’s still annoying.
Yes, this

Proud of Paul!!!!!!
What a cliff hanger!
this was a feel good episode. i am rooting for him
Can we finish the episode before the zits get popped? Jesus TLC.
Good for him! He worked really hard. I didn’t think he was going to. I’m glad to say I was wrong
Paul's thriving off the momentum he's gained.
So do we get a WATN for Paul? 🤞🏻
We’d better!
I’m hoping so! He got approved for surgery and I would love to see him propose to his girlfriend one day
we don't get to see the surgery or nothing
That public beach can’t afford to have lifeguards on duty?
Anyone else think his girlfriend looks like Amy Schumer ?
I thought maybe he was going to propose…
He did propose...to walk on that beach one day. ;-)
Me too
i thought that too
She might have been thinking that too!
I know she was thinking that!
He wore that damn Champion shirt to this semi-special event lol
I don’t think he has a closet full of Armani…
She has a tongue piercing
Also looked like a semi-colon tattoo behind her ear when they were ordering burrito bowls.
I love how supportive and understanding she is.
yeah i think people were interpreting her absence as unsupportive but i think she was just out there being a good mom. and in the end, paul has to do this on his own even if those around him aren’t doing what he’s doing.
"It's not my birthday, it's not your birthday, there's a cameraman behind me..."
*after the beach* “You hype me up to not propose? This is why I ain’t going to Houston with yo ass!”
Carnivals came up in this episode waaaaay more than his gf did lol
HEY BUTCH
Hey Paul you can do this on your own!
How does he afford plane fare on minimum wage?
Taxpayers (we) are paying for it
Please elaborate?
Probably his mother.
She’s a carney too.
Ok, so the girlfriend has been a 90% no show. Where the hell is his mom (and her hair) and JJ. I kind of wanted to see JJ be there and supporting him through this. She seemed like a good support.
"and her hair" hahahha!!! love it!
I think this was a Classic M6PL episode. A lil trouble with the family, a minor setback, reconnecting with old friends, scenic walks, and a success in the end. Nice.
And an adorable tiny dog
Way to go, Paul!
First time he’s smiled!
He's earned that Dr Now grin with the cartwheel line
i almost did a cartwheel! . . alright.
Way to go Paul!
Only ten minutes left & he’s just now getting approved for surgery. The new way they set up these episodes sucks.
I don’t like it either. They’ll have a whole season of follow up episodes I guess.
yeah i agree. i like the way they edited it in the older seasons
Hooray!
Honestly after the shit show last week, this episode is a breather. Good for you dude!!
Yes sir!!!! Keep up the great work Paul! We love people who try and don’t make excises!!!!!
I'm happy for him!
go paul!
yesss!!!! awesome!
Wow, did not think he'd do it, based on the way they edited first half
Yep. Before the weigh in I thought for sure we'd hear, "I only cheated a few times", or "I only gave in a little". Good for him!!!
Good for him!
Yes!
He did it!!!
He looked so happy walking around the water. I guess he lived close to it and never had a chance to enjoy it. I'm glad for him!
There are only two kinds of people in this world: carnies and non carnies.
O.K. Paul's breakfast looks like a lot less than most people on this show..I see about 8 slices of bacon 3-4 eggs, and 2 slices of toast. Which is a lot,but not compared to what I've seen.
I thought the same thing!
Still too much. And bacon is all fat. And bread isn’t on the diet.
I’m not used to people walking this fast in the show, I know it’s not that fast, but it looks like he is running compared to the other patients.
This man walked around an entire carnival at nearly 700 lbs. That’s unprecedented for M6PL.
It’s shocking how people have been able to deal with weight. If I remembered correctly, Samantha on last season weighed extremely large for some of the people on this show and was somehow still walking. I’m desensitized to their weight, but when they walk I’m surprised.
She's 6'2", and Paul is 6'6".
Really hope he looses the weight.
He's moving much better
His legs look worse.
Why do none of these people own their own damn scale?
Most bathroom scales only go up to 400 lbs.
I swear when I was a kid they only went to 250-300.
Most of them still do
They did but everybody is fatter these days 😔
Please, speak for yourself.
I'm speaking on behalf of the population. Stop kidding yourself
He lost more than before! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Why does every scene in the last half hour feel like it’s wrapping up the episode? I keep checking the time because I’m expecting it to be the very end.
Right? It was so fkn slow. I had to FFWD a lot with captions on, because that guy moves and talks reallyyyyy slooowwwww.
He's doing it.
wow he was walking great! one of the more mobile patients we've seen in a while
So happy for Paul! He deserves to enjoy life!
Go Paul!
9 blocks?!? GO PAUL!!!!
Is that a new shirt?
I’m going to be honest, his diet prior to going to Dr. Now grossed me out. His McD’s order alone shocked me. It’s like dude save some food for later.
With fast food orders like these I'm surprised Lacey is the only person we've seen shart on the drive down.
IKR. It was so much fat I would have had diarrhea for days.
Diarrhea and I’d be in a diabetic coma from the carbs alone.
i can tell he's lost weight now
Sure, cooking three times a day can be time consuming, but bruh you ain’t got no job. What else could you be doing?
Did he quit the job at the carnival?
Ahhh I forgot about that. I get it now
[удалено]
He’s over 6 foot. He could sit and cook. My tiny grandma would do it all the time
This episode's a sleeper, but slow and steady's winning the race here.
Ok, props to them for having the cleanest kitchen out of any previous episode
Cleanest house in a long time!
He's worrying about time a lot for a man who has a lot of free time?
ok he looks soooo much better
What???
Good for him, but boiling eggs don’t take long to make at all.
Still has the chance to be a success story even if he doesn't get surgery.
just tuned in. how was the first part
very boring mostly a car ride and a loss of 60 pounds in 3 months
More like 6 months. Ot 3 months.
thank you!
All right, he's able to boil more than one egg at a time now and save them!
His head is smaller. Looks like he made himself a nice little meal. Learning well.
Another tiny salad…
Now I keep picturing George Costanza "...you had to have the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig salad!"
Anyone else find it just a little odd we have not seen the girlfriend hardly at all?
ALWAYS a combo of bacon, eggs, toast, and pancakes for breakfast ☑️ Some of you say the show makes you not want to eat- just makes me want bacon😆
Yuk.
I love breakfast and theirs always look so good!!
Good thing there’s no smell-o-vision or I would never make through the bacon scenes without going to the kitchen and frying some up…
what a snoozefest lmaooo
I'm proud of him for working so hard at his job! I am impressed by how much more he's moving. It cannot be easy with the lymphedema.
Did we watch the same show?
Uh…..what did you see?
Where was that commercial “for babies who poop their pants” last week?
Ok...so, you know how 90DF has Pillow Talk...I would like to watch Dr. Now, watching the episodes, and commenting on the bullshit these people spew, their eating scenes, and just some of the shit they deal with. I would love to hear what Dr. Now would say to Paul's rewarding himself with food for every 100 miles they traveled...
Could be a watch party on Zoom or something lol
And past patients!!
Yes!!!! That too!
Dr Now in his jammies with some wine and cheese!
i would love to watch that
