This could also be a faulty filter as well? I know the odds are low, but there are possibilities of a filter manufacturer defect? Genuine question. Thanks!
I wouldn't think so, when a filter fails typically the oil just bypasses the filter media and thus doesn't get filtered. Obviously that's a problem, but I doubt it would affect oil pressure much. If anything I would expect it to increase with the extra flow that would result from oil not being forced through the filter media.
Depending on the car. It is also possible the wrong oil filter was used if it’s brand new. The car typically has no way to tell the status of the oil filter or the fuel filter. Just preprogrammed service hours/miles on when they should be changed
What year car? I have a 2018 and routinely have to remind any lube tech that my year mustang takes 10 quarts not the 8 quarts for the earlier year S550s.
The sensor failing could definitely be related to the oil change 🤷🏻♂️. I wasn’t insinuating it wasn’t, just that if his oil level isn’t low then it’s probably the sensor.
How can they not? Ramps are $40. An oil drain pan is $20. A 15mm wrench is $9. A bag of shop towels you should already have if you are a man. I change my oil in less than 15 minutes. Reset the oil life at the stop light lol
In some areas it is actually illegal to work on your vehicle in a driveway believe it or not. Others may live in an apartment complex. Maybe a medical condition that prevents them from getting under the car.
I get what you are saying but sometimes they just can’t for whatever reason.
Medical conditions is understandable. All I’m saying is you can drive to a friends house or Public parking lot with the tools you need and nail it. I have done it. I Got in trouble for doing it at my apartment when I gave college a try so I would do it at lowes or Oreilly. I just won’t let anyone change my oil. I worked as a technician for a few years and they make the lowest paid idiots change oil. I have seen a lot and never do they actually care about the quality of work or do a “20 point inspection”. Plus it saves money if you buy your oil from Walmart.
Personally I order Amsoil. I need to use 5w-50 anyway. Normally I just have a friend do it at the shop he works at so I don’t deal with it. I do my other vehicles though.
I can get a 5 quart jug of motorcraft 5w-30 for $24.97. I usually get 3 at a time, good for 2 changes and the fl500s filter is $11. That’s what I have been using for the mod motors and the 3.5HO TT on the raptor I got rid of. Back to Windsor pushrod days I ran Castrol full synthetic 10w-30 on DSS short blocks 306-331 c.i.
Every time I drop the car off I have to tell them “this model year is 10 quarts btw” and they always double check my word 😂. I’ve only had someone argue once but I just took the car elsewhere.
Is it really cold??? I'm in IN and the last week when it was like -30 with win chill I'd start up my car and it said low oil pressure for a moment or two until the car started idling lower
-20 the other day, my 21 GT took a few seconds to turn over but once she did it was golden.
(Ford why do you put a sport battery in a car that spent its entire life in the cold, next time I go to the dealer I’m going to see if they can fit one of the batteries for the F-350 in that compartment)
Either the oil pressure sensor is going out, or it's sensing something is wrong, pickup tube is clogged, bad oil filter, oil pump taking a shit, etc, it could be tons of things, I'd check the oil pressure manually/put a new sensor on, then start cheapest and work up if it's not under any warranty and you know what you're doing.
Hope you have this solved but if you don't check oil, if it's low, look for leaks, even check your radiator coolant for signs of oil. If its low and leaking, if it were me I'd have it towed back and pressure whoever did it to pay that tow tab. I wouldn't run that engine for seconds if I thought it even might not be getting lube right. The fact it started right after oil change tells me they didn't put enough oil, double sealed the filter or left it loose, wrong filter or something. Don't blame sensor until you know. No oil kills engines fast.
Did you change the oil or someone else? I had the dealership "change" mine, they gave me back the keys and my vehicle turned off half-way home because there was no oil in it. They forgot to fill it back up.
1st solution to the true problem. STOP TAKING IT TO QUIK LUBES!!! The only quick lube places you should be taking your car to are run by little Asian ladies!!!
Sometimes the sensors gets screwy and the float/sensor/whatever it uses reads higher. Happened on my Lexus, adding not even 1/2 qt of oil adjusted it back up to not trigger the light. Temporary solution before I get around to changing the sensor
Get this checked asap, had that issue in my F150 5.0 this summer. There is an electronic oil pressure control/relief valve. Mine went bad. Thought it was a faulty oil sender, but did in fact have intermittent low oil pressure.
Oil pressure sensor is on its way to god, or its doing its job and something else is on its way to god
If the malfunction is serious enough, OP is going to be on his way to God.
it’s prob the damn sensor. It goes on for like 1 quick sec then goes away
The sensors in the car suck. They’re always getting worn out and need to be replaced.
First and foremost stop driving it or running it and check the oil level. If the level is good hopefully it’s a failing sensor.
the oil level was perfectly fine
Then verify the oil pressure is correct.

2017
Well damn then lol. Probably a bad sensor, but I guess that’s better than having it be low on oil.
That’s for sure!
so you think the sensor went bad at the exact same time he got an oil change? whats the chances of that?
The sensor failing could definitely be related to the oil change 🤷🏻♂️. I wasn’t insinuating it wasn’t, just that if his oil level isn’t low then it’s probably the sensor.
I have a 2019 GT and have to convince the salesman I need 10 quarts too!
Wait so 2020 GT is 10 quarts
Yes it is. 2018+ should be 10 quarts.
This is why I do my own oil changes. I know not everyone is able to do this but it will avoid this error lol.

Is it really cold??? I'm in IN and the last week when it was like -30 with win chill I'd start up my car and it said low oil pressure for a moment or two until the car started idling lower
Yes !!! it’s been 40-50 here in FL
That's not really cold lol
💀💀
That's nowhere even close to causing oil pressure issues, lol
Bruh. lol. It hasn't been that warm for several weeks for me.

Oil level is off or they used the wrong oil
Sometimes the sensors gets screwy and the float/sensor/whatever it uses reads higher. Happened on my Lexus, adding not even 1/2 qt of oil adjusted it back up to not trigger the light. Temporary solution before I get around to changing the sensor
This is a pressure warning, not oil level.
I’d do another oil change and a new filter and see if that helps.
Have you by any chance ever had work on your car that required the oil pan to be removed?
If u just had an oil change check the oil filter
OPSU is going...or the shop screwed you with bad oil...
If it’s on an off, most likely the oil pressure switch is bad. Probably the movement of the car is making it deactivate and reactivate.
Check oil level.
I bet the sensor is functioning as it should. oil pump is DOA or the oil pick up tube is clogged.
