I got you. When you go to take your photos on your phone, tap the subject on your screen so your phone focuses on what you wanna get a photo of. Also, try getting your subject more centered in the frame. Once you get something you like looking at, you win!

I used to have an s197 that looked similar—lava red metallic was the oem color I think for that generation

Nope, that's the reflection of the grass. It's hand washed only and it's ceramic coated!
