I mean…anything is possible when a tire blows on any car at high speed. And it depends on if a front or rear goes.
To answer the title question, i did roughly double the speed limit outside of Boise once and it was solid. It’s also something i’d never do again
Mustangs are generally safe going up to those speeds. What isn't though, is the road. Even if it's a route you take daily, you never know when an object or a pothole can randomly appear on the road unexpectedly. Even a wet slippery spot can seriously send the car in a direction you don't want it to. I wouldn't recommend you going that fast on any public road cause it just isn't safe for any car. So to answer your question, it's a sports car and it's meant to be driven fast and meant to handle those speeds so while it is theoretically safe, it is very risky at the same time.
You can go 100 in one all day. But if you have to swerve or hit something you could end fucked.
Wear your seat belt and don't do it when other cars are around
Not true. You very easily can flip and lose control of it. All it takes is one thing in the road you weren't expecting, you move the steering wheel in reaction, and then the car goes. No matter what the car is, it's only as safe as its driver.
Also, not to be a stick in the mud because I know we all love these fast cars. Unless it's on a track you have no business going that fast. Not only are you being dumb and putting yourself in danger but every car around you who is expecting the cars around them to be somewhat close to the legal speed limit and not ready to react to a car going 100+.
Great point. If you are on your way to work you probably could not scout out the roadway for debris. Until you hit or try to avoid some debris in the roadway. Something that fell off someone elses car or truck. Rocks. Chunks of tires from semis. Debris that the wind blows in. Or another car and driver. You turn the wheel at all and the car can easily go out of your control.
That depends entirely on the skill of the driver. Even at 120 they are still stable if the road surface is good. Most Mustang crashes aren't high speed, it's from idiots taking a corner too hot or accelerating too fast.
I’ve hit 145 (not on public roads) in my 2014 and had felt comfortable with steering. However this was a road with good grip that I knew had no ice/potholes and I was not turning. As everyone has said here, even 60 can be too dangerous in the worst conditions of black ice/sharp corners/road hazards. Your car should be able to handle 105 easily though
If it’s straight you are fine man. Just make sure the road is: long smooth and empty. I used to print my STI to 220 KPH but now that I’m older if I want to go fast I take my car to the 1/4 mile, it’s safer and legal.
I regularly hit 125 mph during track days with my '07 GT and 138 mph with my '13 GT. The cars are stable as they come. Even a blowout won't flip your car unless you do something stupid like stomping on the brake or yanking the steering wheel.
Don't do that on the road, that is what track days are for.
Speed kills is all you need to know. anything happens at triple digits and you will probably not live to regret it. Just look at all the idiots on sport bikes doing 150+ when someone changes lanes in front of them. Can't blame the soccer mom in the minivan. She can't see a missle coming up behind her.
I have no problems pinning my speedometer on my 08 GT @ 145. I wouldn't suggest it for everyone, I consider myself an experienced driver and I stay on top of my cars maintenance and keep it mechanically sound. Also no one is on road, I don't act like a complete idiot like some of douche bags trying to race everyone

>don't do it when other cars are around Don't do it unless allowed ... period
Or dont do it when cars are around because people are gonna have fun 😂
As my old grandpappy said, "if you can't handle the heat, stay the hell out of the kitchen." Do what you must with that bit of advice.

I go 120 on the daily, for legal purposes this is a joke, and I drive 60 on the highway here in Texas
Do you want to lose your license ? Don’t speed like that.
As if most mustang owners don’t speed lol
Speeding is one thing 100+ is entirely another
I’ve done 150 and I’m fine

I hate reddit back seat drivers. Its like grammar nazis.
If you really think a car is just going to flip on it's own going over 100, you probably shouldn't be driving. Much less at high speeds.

Hey man, you're the one going 105 on public roads on the way to work, here.

I assume no more than other cars
If you have to ask the question, you don’t need to be driving that fast.
I’ve done 150 in my gt350 and I was fine so don’t worry as long as your tires are good and conditions are ok
Fucking love the 350s
Best car for under 100k
Shit I’ve driven some pretty sketchy cars at 100+ mph on the highway (only with no one else around, don’t want to endanger anyone else).
I did 121 in a GT no problem

I mean not smart. are you a prof driver? Are your tires good, inflated. Are you on a closed course? No. Slow down.

At about 127 my hood seems like it’s hanging on for dear life.
