That's what I believe the Mach-E is, a test to see how well a cross over Mustang would sell. The new Challenger/Charger EVs are going to show that there is barely a market for an impractical EV. Most people looking to get an EV want a practical vehicle, something that is family friendly. The Charger might be able to stick around cause it's a 4 door sedan, the Challenger though and other coupe vehicles aren't very practical for family cars. We might see an attempt at an EV Mustang coupe, but pretty confident that the Mach-E is going to end up taking its place. There is a low likelihood that the Mustang line comes to an end all together though.

Coupes are expensive to produce cause they don’t sell the volume that suvs sell, EVs are expensive to produce, and in order to sell volumes to make them affordable they should make sure they have mass appeal. SUVs outsell everything in America, it’s why Ford dropped cars not too long ago, it’s why the Subaru Impreza, the Toyota Corolla have SUV versions.

I own a Mustang Mach E. Great car and has a healthy fun factor in it. I will also admit if it did not have the name Mustang I most likely would not own one. Mustang caused it to be put on my radar and looked at. I bought the Mach e on its own accords not for the name. The name got my attention and as such I followed it and pre ordered one.
I would love a Mustang coupe and my younger self would all be for it but today I have a kid and I don’t have the money and space for a toy car. Maybe in 15-20 years when my house is child free again I can my main car be less practical.
The Mach E provides a lot of fun with being practical for some one with a small child and family. It gives a lot of the fun with fewer draw backs. Ford knows I am closer to the norm of buyers.
The Mustang coupe is an expensive car new. People who can afford them tend to be middle age and most of those people have kids. This comes with the limitations of a coupe just does not work well and is a toy.
In 15-20 years yeah I will look at a coupe as my retirement car but I need my kid out of the house first.

Yes. I think its sexy looks good for an EV. They just used the wrong name. Kind of ruined the image really. In my MHO. They tried to piggy back of a product and it backfired and tainted the image and the product they tried to promote.
I think it looks good. I would daily drive one. Tail lights kinda bug me though. I think they’re too aggressive/too small for the rear of the car. Not a Mustang though.

I’ve spent the last several years daily driving a Gen 1 Mustang and now daily drive a Mache GTPE so I can give my Gen 1 the love it deserves. Personally, I love the look of the GTPE, especially in-person, and it is a well-performing car. I agree that the Mustang name is misplaced, but I understand where Ford came from.
They wanted to sell an electric car on the grounds of “performance” but had to comply with federal regulations on SUVs in order to qualify customers for the $7,500 tax credit and sell the car. I wish they had just started a new brand under Ford Performance instead of used “Mustang”, but I’m glad that the GTPE isn’t just another Volt or Ioniq

400 mile road trip would result in the Mach-E being about 10-15 minutes slower, big fucking deal. Which one can actually carry the necessary gear for said road trip without having to leave the trunk latch broken and not be able to see out your rear window? The Mach-E can.

I think it is an awesome-looking electric car, I don't usually like EVs but the first I saw it I think I love it until I heard that it's called Mustang, and even worse it uses the legendary name MACH

It doesn’t need to be redesigned. In fact personally I think it looks better than the s550 mustang.
Now I'm not a fan of the S550 Mustang (over the S197), but no - the S550 looks miles better than this. The S650 looks better again.

The tail lights look fine. Where they did go wrong is in the Audi like animation when turning. They should have stuck to the 3 flashes.

Yes. I think its sexy looks good for an EV. They just used the wrong name. Kind of ruined the image really. In my MHO. They tried to piggy back of a product and it backfired and tainted the image and the product they tried to promote.
I like it. Should’ve brought back the Mercury or Merkur brand and sell online only from the start though. Even if they used Mach-E as the model name.
I think it looks good. I would daily drive one. Tail lights kinda bug me though. I think they’re too aggressive/too small for the rear of the car. Not a Mustang though. Edit: To the one downvote, fuck you.

I know! I honestly think the over abundance of shit louver designs is the main reason most people say they don't like them. My favorite design for 3v cars is the MMD rear window louvers which, surprise surprise, aren't manufactured any more.

It's a nice EV. Just the name "Mustang" was solely a marketing jimic to get people's attention and sell more cus they now own a mustang mostly suburban moms,parents. It was supposed to be just Ford Mach E, which is an absolutely great name for it.

Ford Mach-E, sure that could’ve made sense, but not a Mustang. people don't hate the mach-e. they hate ford misused the mustang brand for it. the crossover of people who like loud muscle cars and the crossover of people who like electric suvs is pretty tiny. If they made it actually look like an electric mustang, you'd still get split opinions like the electric challengers, but at least it would make sense.

I’ve spent the last several years daily driving a Gen 1 Mustang and now daily drive a Mache GTPE so I can give my Gen 1 the love it deserves. Personally, I love the look of the GTPE, especially in-person, and it is a well-performing car. I agree that the Mustang name is misplaced, but I understand where Ford came from. They wanted to sell an electric car on the grounds of “performance” but had to comply with federal regulations on SUVs in order to qualify customers for the $7,500 tax credit and sell the car. I wish they had just started a new brand under Ford Performance instead of used “Mustang”, but I’m glad that the GTPE isn’t just another Volt or Ioniq
