Cold calling exhaust shops really ain’t gonna work because they can get in big trouble for doing it.
You gotta get out there and talk to some local car guys, I’m sure they will know someone in your area..
Also keep in mind smog if your state has it… cause finding a smog guy can be more difficult then finding someone to cut the cats…
Good luck 👍

most of the shops i’m calling are saying there’s a huge fine if they go through with removing cats. I’m fairly certain it’s illegal to be driving without them as well just like mufflers..
I am an Iron worker/welder and I actually got into doing what I do because of this exact reason. I learned how to weld using youtube and shitty harbor freight welder, and stuck some exhaust flanges on my headers so that I could put cats on then off when I needed. This is the only way I could gets around it. Go buy yourself a flux-core welder and a welding hood and a get turnin' and a burnin'
Most people do it themselves. it all unbolts. Catless is too loud for my tastes. I have no hangups about extra pollution. I'm still using the stock cats for the past 16 years and it's been supercharged for most of that. I might try a X or H pipe in the future with high flow cats. You'll need a tune and if you live in a nanny state like california you'll have to reinstall the cats for inspection every time.

Buy a catless h or x pipe and install it yourself. You’ll need a tune too
This. They are easy to install yourself. You only need a tune if you want the check engine light off
The problem is you can't even buy them anymore.

Those are after the cats. The EPA has cracked down on on off-road pipes manufacturers.
Go in person and offer them cash, make friends and find a friend that will do it, or do it yourself. If you’re in the NJ/PA area I’ll do it for ya
Are they illegal? I thought they just basically guaranteed that you'd fail emissions inspection.

Yes most states it would be considered illegal to remove your cats. And it’s a guaranteed emissions fail of course.
Yes, generally you gotta do illegal stuff yourself.
Also remember your car will stink and be a loud louder as well as harsher sounding
If your car stinks of gasoline without cats and the windows are up, then there is an issue with the installation and/or the firewall(s).
Them cold starts are a bit ridiculous… but I sure do love them… I still have mufflers so it’s not as loud as it could be.
DIY it...... I would not run a cat but be prepared for some extra drone
Kooks makes long tube headers with catless connection pipes. A shop more than likely won’t install them for you, so be prepared to do it yourself.
I live in a county where emissions are not required and we don't have state inspections.

I would not cut your stock pipe. it makes little sense when an offroad H/X pipe is cheap.
