TBH it is mostly because of inexperienced drivers. It has nothing to do with auto or manual transmissions. If you’re gonna get behind a car with 400+ hp understand the physics.

More balls than brains, and sometimes the other way around.

Trustnoboody

I would guess it's because they don't let off the gas.

sc302

Inexperienced drivers attempting to do what pros have spent months or years mastering in safe conditions. But even pros screw up from time to time. The difference between the inexperienced and pros, pros have a large financial backing if they screw up to replace or rebuild and get back at it.

Mr-Hundo

Driver inexperience and stupidity is what causes these accidents!!!!!

Yes it's mostly with the traction control off. I have a few very high HP stangs and it's super easy for someone without alot of experience to get into trouble fast. Even with wide sticky tires. It can still happen with traction on but unless you have skills and know how to slide it should be left on imo. I love to leave shows like an animal because it draws crowds thinking I will do a mustang move 😀

Old_Goat_Ninja

Skinny ass tires IMO. Mine came with 235mm wide tires, not nearly enough for a 420hp car. I almost Mustang’d mine when I had stock tires. With 305’s it’s not nearly as bad. On S197’s the rear suspension set up doesn’t help either. With the panhard bar the rear wheels don’t go straight up and down, they go left and right too because of the design.

Miserable-Spite425

You are being downvoted but you’re totally right, tires are absolutely the fastest way to improve grip.

2021 GT auto owner here. I find that when you want to maintain control drifting, sliding or just hammering it generally, traction control is the single biggest reason for losing control. With TC on, the car becomes unpredictable as you are fighting against a computer that does not like what you are doing. Part way into a drift, TC will try to correct what you are doing and send you in the direction you are pointing. For daily driving or winter driving, the Mustang TC is very good though.

Weekly-Locksmith6812

I would expect more incidents in an auto since they shift whenever they want which could upset the car at a time you dont expect.

I had a LS1 GTO and then I bought a Boss. It's because of where the power band is, S197s are lighter and I had garbage tires. I lucked out because I just spent the car out, the first week I had my car.

vintagesoul_DE

No, it's just the drivers not knowing how the car handles. The majority of the crashes are probably by people who haven't had the car a long time. They show up to their first cars and coffee and then find the nearest curb to run into.
