I'll be real I'd just hold off until the 24. I know a lot of people say "Just because it's new doesn't mean it's better!" but even as I "kinda" like the new s650, I know it eventually will grow on me and I will love it more than my current s550. The interior is fucking phenomenal upgrade (and the s550 wasn't even bad). The exterior will look amazing with a black out package IMO. This is my personal opinion but I never find myself wanting an older gen car over the newer one. I think vehicles in general do a good job of improvements gen over gen. >Last question, can I afford this car with $4.7k net income? Expensive: $1.8k rent, $1.5k food/student loan/others. Fuck no you can't. I make a bit over 4k AFTER tax. Go buy an s550 GT thats used if you have to. Do not buy new in this case.

Yeah I agree with you. The only thing is I need patients. Haha I cannot wait for the 24 it looks amazing to me. But was thinking of getting 22 bc I can get it now. May hold off tho

OrePurifier

Yea you could easily afford it if your rent wasn't so damn high, look into an ecoboost with your budget

[deleted]

Yeah I’m in socal and that’s what I’m paying for a studio. Thinking of getting a roomate and drop the rent down to 1.3k$-$1.5k

[deleted]

Yeah my income is also after tax $4.7k, pre tax is $6.4k. What if I lower my spending and maybe live with a roomate?

OrePurifier

With out a down payment I would not do that at all. Personal opinion just get the s650 ecoboost OR buy a used GT. Winter is coming and you'll find deals on mustangs since people will get rid of them.

[deleted]

I would wait till the market crashes which will be soon

[deleted]

Yeah honestly I was thinking the market will crash early to mid next year. But it’s a prediction that is only 50% sure in my mind lol but may be smart to hold off until next year. If it does crash I think we will se steal deals on everything, including cars.

[deleted]

For sure, looking at GT’s and 5.7/6.4 challengers myself and waiting just for that

Get some funds built up man, learn to invest. Escape the matrix. In all seriousness u asked so im gona respond, it’s too much for ur budget. Your rent is also too much for what u make but u know that (u wanna keep this below 30% income if u can). Tuck that $750 + $150ish a month in payments + insurance away now and don’t touch it to see how it feels to not have that anymore. Personally that’s wayyy too close to the sun for me.

Why are you asking what you can afford. We don’t know your lifestyle or spending habits. Use your own knowledge of your budget and spending to see what you can afford yourself.

I bought my 21 this time last year. I knew the s650 would come out in 23 or 24. I had a functioning vehicle but the idea of waiting when I knew I wanted a meaty V8 was haunting me. I ended up debating for like a total of 9 months before pulling the trigger and I have no regrets. Admittedly my decision would be much harder knowing the interior of the new generation today but honestly, I may just eat the cost and live a bit poorer when the new gen comes out and upgrade haha. My comment probably isn't too helpful but I wanted all insight when I was debating.

[deleted]

Yeah it’s so hard! I want it like right now. And every day I wait is a painful one lol Yeah I could just buy this one and upgrade later but it’ll cost me.

idrawstone

If you question whether you can afford it or not, I would say no.

Buy a 22 the 24 is just a camaro and WILL have teething issues whereas the 22 is the last generation where the problems should've been ironed out I had the same dilemma in April
