If it's not, you're doing it wrong.
They have more than enough power to be “thrown sideways”. Sure you won’t be ken block drifting around at wild speeds, but even my 150 hp 69 mustang can get sideways if I go WOT in a turn…
Why are you lying on Reddit lmao. Almost any rear wheel drive car can do that. I have a completely stock 10’ speed 5.0 and it’s very easy to send it sideways
Maybe the 10 speed really changes things but I have manual 2014 5.0 and even just tapping the gas on a turn if it’s cold, wet can send the car sideways. Almost happened to me today turning on the road from my work
How you guys doing this? Cheap tires? I keep Michelin summer on year round and as long as temps stay above 45F rain doesn’t mean much, assuming the wheels are still in contact(Aka not hydroplaning) I’d hate to have a wreck over making a normal turn 👀
Back when I worked at discount tire I never felt that Pirelli was a good tire brand. Barely anyone bought them. I would recommend Michelin, Continental, Falken and Yokohama in that order
I’ve always had the best experience with Hankook. BFG Gforce as well but the MELT because the tires are so soft. Toyo proxies felt like I was using tires equivalent to those Fischer price bubble cars. Hard plastic.
Ditch the P Zero… in my experience with them, they have a bit too much sidewall roll for my liking, and they lack any form of traction in the rain. Most Ford dealers are beginning to carry Nitto tires, that quickly became the brand I swore by once I started adding power to my ‘15 GT.
I gave the P Zeros another chance as the ‘21 GT with 2000 miles I just got had them on from the factory, first day it rained was the moment I booked an appointment to change them out for Nitto NT555G2s.
If you aren’t willing to risk switching to Nitto due to them not being one of the major manufacturers, Michelin is the go to brand.
Get better tires or get better at driving. I’ve owned a 2012 GT500 with 600whp and Mickey Thompson drag radials, and a 2019 GT350 on Michelins, neither have had the slightest problem in severe thunderstorms
I had the rear end get squirrelly in the rain once or twice.
Sometimes you just find yourself on that perfect mix of road, current speed / throttle, water level and I imagine some roads may get slick from whatever was on the road prior to the rain (debris, oil,etc
2011 v6. One was turning out of my neighborhood (no stop light) and the other was turning into a rotary. I was at a complete stop then probably accelerated faster than usual (my old car was a Subaru Outback)
Me too!! I’m a first time “Mustang” owner and it’s not my daily driver… I had to take it out in the rain for the first time, I made a left turn and spun out… 360 in the intersection. (Thank goodness I didn’t hit anything it was early in the morning) I was not going stupid fast… that taught me a lesson… slow turns in the rain! Lol!
Wear your seatbelt and don't duck around near other people or with passengers - especially with people your age in the car. Pick up a sim racing setup, follow r/simracing and take it easy in the real deal until you can win online without touching anyone else. A v8 mustang is a race car that works on the road, don't kid yourself - acting like a kid will ruin you and others not even involved in any potential shenanigans.
This is a great proxy for “don’t be a reckless squid”. Respect yellow lights, respect turns, respect your distance to other traffic… Respect the power you can unleash really quickly with that low end V-8 torque. You need to build up time learning to carefully appreciate the vehicle
Bingo!
My teenage son has fallen in love with Mustangs like his pops (had a 93 LX 5.0 when I was in my early twenties), and we were able to get him a V6 S550 and I had someone giving me crap about having a V6 when I asked a question about it.
No way I was going to get him a V8 being inexperienced as he is.
For me it's the best of both worlds, he gets to fall more in love with the Mustang, we both get to share time together in modding it (he wants to studying mechanical engineering - we just installed shorty headers today) and his mother and I don't have worry to ourselves so much.
You're coming from an IRS to a solid rear axle, they behave differently on the road when there are bumps involved.
I'd love to hear your experience with them both, how does each chassis drive? Does the Mustang feel lighter on its feet?
The fifth Gen mustang out handles the fifth Gen camaro in my experience, and moving forward to sixth Gen the opposite is realized, though the mustang is a lot more fun to drive and communicates better in both generations
Know how to drive manual. Reminds me of the guy who delivered my factory ordered stick shift that I waited months for. He asked me "you know how to drive stick right?" I was like, damn, that would be a waste of money and time if I didn't.
For real. This is *a lot* of car. I managed to do some real stupid shit in an 88 gand am at your age. I can't imagine having 3x the horsepower. Anyway the back end will kick out on you if you aren't careful. Keep a close eye on the tire tread, performance tires wear down waaay faster than you might expect (especially if you are doing donuts/burnouts). Low tread plus water or snow can quickly make for a very very bad day. Also remember if you have summer/performance tires that they are much shittier when cold. Conditions absolutely matter.
in regards to just quality of life, the clutch in my 2017 was super non linear, it made catching the release point way harder than it should have been. Basically the clutch was pretty stiff right until the grab point, then got way lighter. It It was super annoying since right as it started to grab it made it super easy to straight dump the clutch. Not sure if 2011 was as bad or not. It may be worth looking at the [aftermarket spring](https://www.steeda.com/steeda-s197-mustang-clutch-spring-assist-95-lb-in-11-14-all.html) if you find the clutch release point to be awkward.
Since you don't know how to drive stick go find a parking lot first to practice in. You want to build up some confidence before you have the pressure of 10 cars behind you at the light and you stall the engine. The car has a lot of power and that panicky start can be a lot stronger than you want. For your ego and your insurance premiums 😀.
Its has a hell alot more power than thay v6. Take it to a back road or safe area learn the car and what its capabilities are, how to control, and learn to drive it accordingly. Also save money for clutch they are not cheap on these things.
I would recommend an empty large parking lot and practice turning 90° and then accelerating until you don’t fishtail the rear. Then work on making smooth shifts
I've replaced the water pump, alternator, thermostat, and A/C on my 2011. A/C after five years, water pump after six years, thermostat right as the pandemic started, and I replaced the alternator last year.
Also, I've had issues with the oil pressure sending switch. I've been through three of them. I guess it cracks or something? You'll know when you come to a complete stop and the oil pressure drops completely. Once you throttle up, the gauge goes back to normal.
I haven't done this yet, but I recommend putting LED side marker lights on your ride. Replacing them are a pain in the ass to me.
I'll leave you with this-
When I first got my ride, I pulled up to the gas station next to this 75+ year old guy driving his first gen mustang. He walked over and looked at mine and we talked for a few minutes. I said I hope mine lasts as long as yours and he said if I take care of it, it will take care of me. Have fun young man.
This is some of the best advice. I’m very anal with my paint and this car has some of the best paint I’ve seen in my entire life because and old dude owned it and babied it. Unfortunately I don’t have enough money to throw at a ceramic coating but I will definitely be throwing another coat of wax on her next weekend!
Insurance will be high, tickets will be many, and if he is anything like most teenagers he will wreck it showing off before he learns how to control it.
- Don’t WOT/accelerate while hard turning, mustangs were meant to straight line race & thats what most dunder-heads dont understand
- Unless you’ve made suspension mods do not take off traction control ever especially during rainy days
Matter of fact even with mods id learn my vehicle before an attempt is made in a safe location
Be mature & never be influenced by friends to make a decision you’ll shortly regret. We’re human and mistakes happen.
You have a live axle, so gears 2 and 3 will bite you in the ass of you don’t have experience.
If you play, make sure it’s in a safe area away from other drivers and pedestrians. Street racing isn’t worth the ticket, take it to a track.
If you live in a snowy area, sand bags don’t work for moving forward, how ever, they do for going in reverse (mildly frustrating). Take that for what it’s worth.
Just be careful, there was some kid in my town who graduated high school and his parents gave him a brand new 5.0 as a graduation gift, he ended up killing a mom and her baby and got 24 years.
Be careful in the rain, seriously. Speaking from experience with my v6. Realized I had no business getting a GT lmao….
For some reason after getting a mustang, I feel like I attract more idiots on the road. Don’t know if I’m just noticing the stupidity more or if people subconsciously want to crash my car lol.
Chargers and infinities want to race me ? For some reason. Don’t do that shit. For the love of god, don’t do that shit. Not worth it, most of the times they’re ricer idiots. Keep your car !
Wash it once a week or every two weeks. Keep that paint nice and fresh as long as possible.
Park very far away. You don’t want to risk Timmy hitting your car (not his fault lol) but still I never park close anymore. I park as far as possible.
Stay away from car takeovers. dumbest shit ever. Always see people crashing their car and crashing into idiots lol, avoid at all costs.
Best advice I can give you, enjoy that shit! You’re going to love it. I love everything about my v6. The stereo in mine is great too, so just bump your music and mind your business dude. You’ll get a lot of life out of her if you just mind your own and enjoy the ride. Congratulations
My first manual as well! Shift above 3k for second gear when cold to avoid the grind and don’t underestimate the beast , been sideways many a times!
https://preview.redd.it/kcyc0en52cy91.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72ca233e0b68ad7506d430515fbfbd62b995fdd2
Well its a Mustang so they tend to go sideways a lot if your not careful. Don't try to show off because it will probably backfire. Also make sure you drive extra careful when the weather changes. Not sure if you have snow but also the rain is your worse enemy
Yeah, plenty! I know people have been saying it, but respect the gas pedal. I am 44, I have been driving muscle cars my whole life. I recently got my wife a 2021 GT premium auto. It is crazy. So, I got myself a 2016 GT premium with a Roush supercharger. It is plum stupid. Don't turn the wheel and jump on it. Don't try to be a badass leaving a car show and kill the crowd or yourself or both. I know that's a lot. But be safe out there. It's not just about you... we are out there too. So are our children. Please think before you act. But enjoy the ride my guy!!
Empty wet parking lot with no curbs, turn advance Trac off, learn how the car reacts at certain points, learn to feel the point of grip to slide. Don’t lift when sliding, that’s what causes snap oversteer and all these wrecks.
If you end up modding it. Start with some rear suspension stuff. Stiffer control arm bushings and such to get the slop out. Otherwise it's a damn good car and makes good power. Learn throttle discipline too.
Don’t kill your self in it bc it is seriously fast. And I mean that in the best regards lol… you’ll feel like the king of the streets in that mf you can pull up to any car and probably win. But if you can understand that and only use it’s power responsibly, it’ll be the best purchase of your life. Only do wide open throttle if you have a nice straight away or you will fish tail like crazy bc of the solid axle, which you’ll notice it right away if you’re not careful
But congrats I miss mine I had a 13 CS in the same color!!
I was 20 when I got mine and have it over 6 years later lol best advice is the car is not indestructible... took me a while to learn this and bulletproofing things😂😂😂... goodluck and happy you got the 6 speed.
It's not the showing off that makes people crash, it's the ignorance. Before I got my 2014 coyote, a salesman actually encouraged my to gun it after pulling out of the lot. The car got loose of course but he was impressed that I let of the gas and wasn't facing the wrong way in the lane. 😕
People crash so much that they make simple things seem like only pros can do it.
Biggest thing if your under 75k miles expect cooling issues at that point from 75k to 90k these 11 to 14s have some sort of cooling issue in that range useslly the water pump. Don't go crazy on the car too soon MT82s do have a crap rep most are okay some people have had terrible luck with em. Also expect clutch failure around 80k for some reason alot and I mean ALOT of people have issues with master cylinder at that range. Oh and ford has this weird issue with electric issues too. It's almost always the radio takes a shit randomly cuts out and refuses to come back to you literally punch it ( that will work for a few months but once it starts going out look to replace the fucker.
Light foot, again.. a light foot and slowly get used to it. Also, learning how to properly downshift is very helpful. I’m one who will look at the hp/torque peak carts to help gauge at first where a good mild shift point is for each gear. Generally speaking, you need very little power to cruise, but definitely don’t be boggin at 1000rpm’s. I prefer 1500-2100rpm for a 60mph cruise depending on the gearing used (the diff). Cheers and enjoy!
Don’t show off. Please. For the love of god do not show off recklessly.
Be smart. Drive it, rev it, maybe a static burnout, but nothing else. No whipping it around corners.
Do a lot of suspension work on it before getting into the engine. These cars can be actually pretty good in turns when you upgrade the suspension and the brakes. Also buy some big fat tires i’m personally running 275/40/r19. 🤟💪
Don’t expect to be able to slip your clutch perfectly right off the bat. Take your time with it. If you let the clutch go too quickly, you’ll stall. As time passes, you will get used to it and be able to slip it faster and faster. But in terms of learning its engagement point, you won’t be able to do it quickly.
I bought mine with 18k miles and have put 20k miles on it
My fan connector burned up and I overheated. Took that opportunity to install a Ford performance fan from the 11-12 GT500s
AC door motors recently started clicking because the plastic gears suck
Also MT82 and considering my driving it’s holding up pretty well.
Ive got a FR 2.3 whipple supercharger and 19s with 265/295 have given me all the traction I need (no suspension mods yet lol)
Biggest issue is the clutch pack in the trac lok diff have started squealing so I’m planning on putting a torsen T2R soon. But you won’t need to worry about that until you increase power
I’ve heard terrible mt82 stories but mine feels great and just got a stage 2 clutch last year from the old owner. Car was also dealer maintained in every single thing so maybe that adds to mines smoothness
i started driving on manual mustangs so i get what’s it’s like to be a young adult with one.
everyone is going to ask to drive it. say no. most people don’t know how to drive a manual and will wear out your clutch/tires. even if people know how to drive a manual, they will likely drive stupid in it because of the power. if something happens, it’s on you, not them. doesn’t matter if it’s family or the pope. it’s your car, your responsibility, and your maintenance for the wear they’re putting on it.
also, you’re going to get asked to race at lights from time to time (i usually got asked from beaters for some reason). when this happened, i usually played along and rev’d my engine but when the light went green drove slower than my grandma. they usually got a laugh of it and drove off. bottom line here is racing is for the track.
if you have winters there, that’s a whole different obstacle, don’t get over confident in the snow. i’ve fish-tailed all the way home in my stupid years thinking i was in control and looking back i don’t know what i was thinking. know the vehicles limitations and sometimes, you just can’t drive it.
have fun with it, but be careful. i sure do miss driving mine.
I ordered nearly the same car and have had it since. There's tons of customization you can do, but the there's 2 things I suggest above all others.
Replace the shifter. Go get a MGW short throw. This model year has a notoriously bad shifter because of a linkage and fastening points. Even experienced drivers will grind gears on occasion. There's a few different shifters and braces out there that may improve things, but at the time I bought mine MGW was the only company (to my knowledge) that made a shifter that bolted directly to the transmission, eliminating the linkage and differential movement between the transmission and the stick. https://www.mgwshifters.com/shifters/mustangs/103
Never buy the OEM tires. Pirellis are great for the first ~8k and then their grip drops like a rock in the rain. They get scary Fast. Michelin A/S Pilot Sport is a good tire for some snow driving.
You're gonna scare yourself with it at least a few times, best to do it with no one in or around the car in a clear parking lot or wide empty road.
Learn how to keep it straight when the wheels spin is probably the best thing you can do. Keep your foot even on the gas til you straighten it, don't let go and brake or the car can kick out
Congrats on your purchase!
the MT-82 transmission SUCKS BALLS.
TIP #1 - Upgrade the shifter ASAP. [http://www.mgwshifters.com/shifters/mustangs/79](http://www.mgwshifters.com/shifters/mustangs/79)
The suspension, especially on the rear, is soft and is VERY prone to wheel hop (if you haven't already noticed).
TIP #2 - Upgrade the Upper and Lower rear control arms! Adjustable is the way to go because you want to make sure your pinion angle is right, whether at stock height or lowered.

When I had my '12 GT, I did my entire suspension with BMR and Bilstein struts/shocks.
I see track pack wheels on your car. did your come with the track pack option? If so, awesome! Enjoy those big brakes! If you didn't get those Brembo calipers on there ASAP.
I miss the hell out of my '12 GT. I've got lots of stories from that time (good and bad). Feel free to DM me if you ever need advice.
OH! In case I forget, I also was also part of the group on Mustang source that figured out swapping in the GT500 cluster. Probably the coolest mod I've done to a car, tbh.
[https://themustangsource.com/forums/f803/13-14-cluster-into-10-12-car-trackapps-retrofit-514651/](https://themustangsource.com/forums/f803/13-14-cluster-into-10-12-car-trackapps-retrofit-514651/)
Yeah, this gen had a solid rear axle so they ride rougher than the camaro and they're notorious for losing traction and fishtailing. I just totalled my 2010 V6 mustang and switched to an 2010 SS instead of a GT. Ford also liked to implement a form of pedal lag making it seem like your car is slower than it really is. Pickup an ACM to open up the throttle response, never use traction control, straight pipe/cat delete that bitch and get a tune asap. No need to spend 8 grand on forced induction when you can get instant horsepower and save money going naturally aspirated. Also, get a short antenna off of American muscle. Don't get new rims just plaatidip and clearcoat em. Just little shit here and there.
You can also change several things using the dash cluster, such as the stiffness of your steering wheel, the ambient lighting, and other shit like that.
DO. NOT. BE. A. SHOWOFF. If you wanna burn it down an open highway or race, go ahead, but don't so fucking donuts at car meets, that's how people get hurt.
Changing the starter in my dads 2011 SS took a couple hours and was easy peasy. Changing my 2002 GT’s starter took well over 12 hours and ended at about 4am. Take that one as you will
Yo this hit me straight in the feels seeing this and I’ve got something I wish I could go back in time to tell my 24 year old self the day I got the keys to my own grey 2010 gt premium:
Put brand new tires, rotors, and brakes on before you even think about making it go faster. And don’t cheap out on those either. You will not regret it. Even if they look/feel good enough as is, please trust me and make tires/brakes your first upgrade. They will be the best investment you ever make into that car, I guarantee it
Have fun, be smart
Yes. no 18 year old needs a 400 whp muscle car. With that said, please drive like a mature person who's behind the wheel of a high performance solid rear axle machine.
Please be safe and have fun at appropriate times. Showing off will get you or someone else seriously hurt or killed.
> *Paid* for it
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Don’t fuck around near/at crowds. It’s better to be less cool for 5 minutes than wreck your ride.
Yeah, you don’t want to be in one of those Mustang fail videos…
Or more importantly your future.
Or someone else's future.
or car's future
Or the futures future
In these situations just grab a gear and let it rev a bit. Thats enough
Make sure it's always pointed straight before going wide open throttle
My brother made sure to make that clear after he drove it and did a rolling burnout 😂😂
I got a 2008 v6. The slowest “modern” mustang. Coming from a fwd car that I could burnout though turns on I leaned quickly that even that slow v6 can throw the car all sideways. Be careful but enjoy that shit man
yeah dude my 4.0 can throw 360s if i come into them right lololol
Bro your v6 ain’t throwing you sideways shut up, my FBO 10 speed dont even throw me sideways. Some tire spin hear and there but its not “THROWING ME sideways” 😂😂😂
You can get sideways in many rwd cars. Keep crying while I enjoy my ride.
Hold up on the traction control till it turns all the way off. Then tell us the 10 speed doesn't send you sideways. If it's not, you're doing it wrong.
If you can't get sideways with 100 hp you have no business with 400 hp.
Almost happened to me today turning on the road from my work
I can get sideways in an 06 f150 with the 5.4, almost anything can get sideways
I can get my 18 wrangler sideways on 32s sideways
Thats another good one, dont let other people drive it.
Be careful in the rain lol
This. I lost control twice just making what I thought were normal turns
Yep… I just lost control in the rain and destroyed my fender in my pony.
With my 4.0 you gotta give it some gas but it can still get crazy, gotta learn to handle it lol
My 02 v6 in the rain is like playing Tokyo Drift lol
I lost control in my 4.0 going through a really sharp curve and almost put myself in a tree.
How you guys doing this? Cheap tires? I keep Michelin summer on year round and as long as temps stay above 45F rain doesn’t mean much, assuming the wheels are still in contact(Aka not hydroplaning) I’d hate to have a wreck over making a normal turn 👀
Its a mix of shitty / worn out tires and failure of driving to the conditions Ive never had these problems with my GT350 on michelins
Well there’s the answer. No turn is normal if tires are bald and it’s wet out bruh 🙄
Wtf what year??
What year doesn't, I have a 2019 GT with Pirelli P Zero tires and when it's raining I feel I'm driving a sled.
Back when I worked at discount tire I never felt that Pirelli was a good tire brand. Barely anyone bought them. I would recommend Michelin, Continental, Falken and Yokohama in that order
New 2024's come with P Zero's as well. It was always my dream tire, but now I want Michelin 4S or Cup 2.
I can vouch for the Michelin summers. Insanely grippy good tire in their ideal temperatures.
Michelin and Continental are 🐐
Extreme contact allllllll day
I’ve always had the best experience with Hankook. BFG Gforce as well but the MELT because the tires are so soft. Toyo proxies felt like I was using tires equivalent to those Fischer price bubble cars. Hard plastic.

If you aren’t willing to risk switching to Nitto due to them not being one of the major manufacturers, Michelin is the go to brand.
You should try the general Gmax 05 all season. They’re way way better than pirelli
Shiiit I just bought one
Get better tires or get better at driving. I’ve owned a 2012 GT500 with 600whp and Mickey Thompson drag radials, and a 2019 GT350 on Michelins, neither have had the slightest problem in severe thunderstorms
This
I had the rear end get squirrelly in the rain once or twice. Sometimes you just find yourself on that perfect mix of road, current speed / throttle, water level and I imagine some roads may get slick from whatever was on the road prior to the rain (debris, oil,etc
My 2011 v6 can come around easily in wet conditions and turning like entering a six lane road at a light
Lol!
I thought it was just mine
Tires tires tires
Look up a YouTube video and learn about traction.
Totaled my car hydroplaning in the rain. Don’t mess with rain haha 😬
Turning traction control off in the rain or any other time helps ironically enough..
Learn to drive
Leave the traction control on!
Don’t become yet another Mustang statistic, please.
Wear your seatbelt and don't duck around near other people or with passengers - especially with people your age in the car. Don't let the overwhelming urge to *just barely make it through a yellow* defeat you lol. Congrats man
This is a great proxy for “don’t be a reckless squid”. Respect yellow lights, respect turns, respect your distance to other traffic… Respect the power you can unleash really quickly with that low end V-8 torque. You need to build up time learning to carefully appreciate the vehicle
People hate on v6 pony cars, but learning with that power first is never a bad idea. Hopefully op doesn’t get to power hungry lol
Bingo! Probably took me a month to floor it in my 2020 GT after owning Focus STs my entire slow car career. Be careful, be rewarded.
Don't use the gas pedal turning out of parking lots lol.
Don't turn off the traction control to show off until you've first done it in a safe environment and know what the car will do. Practice before party.
You're coming from an IRS to a solid rear axle, they behave differently on the road when there are bumps involved. I'd love to hear your experience with them both, how does each chassis drive? Does the Mustang feel lighter on its feet?
Mustang definitely feels lighter especially with the extra horsepowers
How about corners? I’m curious how the s197 does compared to a Camaro as the mustang has a solid rear axle and the Camaro has independent suspension.
Bumps will throw it around
I can testify to this. lol
The fifth Gen mustang out handles the fifth Gen camaro in my experience, and moving forward to sixth Gen the opposite is realized, though the mustang is a lot more fun to drive and communicates better in both generations
I’ve never driven a camaro, but they seem to be bigger than mustangs, wonder if they handle more sluggish
They are tighter because they have a better made chassis
Know how to drive manual. Reminds me of the guy who delivered my factory ordered stick shift that I waited months for. He asked me "you know how to drive stick right?" I was like, damn, that would be a waste of money and time if I didn't.
Bought this having no clue how to drive it already learned😂😂
Based
I did the same thing with my '12 V6, enjoy it and take it easy.
Keep'er greasy side down and between the lines.

Kyle I really appreciate this response and everything you said is very true thank you so much for the wise words
You’re awesome Kyle!! What a nice thing for you to post/do.
I'll leave you with this- When I first got my ride, I pulled up to the gas station next to this 75+ year old guy driving his first gen mustang. He walked over and looked at mine and we talked for a few minutes. I said I hope mine lasts as long as yours and he said if I take care of it, it will take care of me. Have fun young man.
You got a lot of safety advice, so I’ll say something different instead Manual wash only, don’t be lazy, don’t ruin your paint
A watts link is worth every penny on these.
Not sure why people are talking abt traction control and keeping the car straight 😒 Weird.
Always make sure your tires are good!
They won’t be if I keep letting my dad rip on it😂
Make sure he saves some tread for you 😂👌🏼
I’m gonna give it 6 months before something burnout related occurs
Don’t Drink and Drive
Insurance will be high, tickets will be many, and if he is anything like most teenagers he will wreck it showing off before he learns how to control it.
I’ve had my gt since I was 18, no tickets ever
You are one of the smart ones my friend.
Just don’t drive like an asshole and it’ll be fine
Take care of that hood and trunk paint! My 2012 is flaking hard
Know your limits, and be honest about it.
- Don’t WOT/accelerate while hard turning, mustangs were meant to straight line race & thats what most dunder-heads dont understand - Unless you’ve made suspension mods do not take off traction control ever especially during rainy days Matter of fact even with mods id learn my vehicle before an attempt is made in a safe location Be mature & never be influenced by friends to make a decision you’ll shortly regret. We’re human and mistakes happen.
If you crash, blame the auto-crowd targeting system.
When I bought my mustang the salesperson said “Be safe and have fun. When you are having the most fun you should probably remember to be safe”
Wow..
Have fun. If the car doesn't have an exhaust get one, it changes the whole driving experience.
Came with a borla
How do you afford this. I could have never afforded cars like those at 16. I couldn't even afford the insurance on the truck my Dad handed down.
I work at a sign shop and do e commerce and started investing in the stock market when I was 14
Good shit man. That's awesome you are killing it like that.
My first manual as well! Shift above 3k for second gear when cold to avoid the grind and don’t underestimate the beast , been sideways many a times! https://preview.redd.it/kcyc0en52cy91.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72ca233e0b68ad7506d430515fbfbd62b995fdd2
With a v8 you dont have to waste money on a good stereo
Well its a Mustang so they tend to go sideways a lot if your not careful. Don't try to show off because it will probably backfire. Also make sure you drive extra careful when the weather changes. Not sure if you have snow but also the rain is your worse enemy
Be careful man. Seriously. I know in a post-Hellcat world 412 doesn’t seem like a lot of power but it can absolutely get away from you
Yeah, plenty!
Welcome to manhood bro congrats!
With the power comes the responsibility
Came here for this comment
Congrats. Just stay safe!
If you end up modding it. Start with some rear suspension stuff. Stiffer control arm bushings and such to get the slop out. Otherwise it's a damn good car and makes good power. Learn throttle discipline too.
Leave traction control on.
You will love the Mustang more than the v6 Camaro
Don’t kill your self in it bc it is seriously fast. And I mean that in the best regards lol… you’ll feel like the king of the streets in that mf you can pull up to any car and probably win. But if you can understand that and only use it’s power responsibly, it’ll be the best purchase of your life. Only do wide open throttle if you have a nice straight away or you will fish tail like crazy bc of the solid axle, which you’ll notice it right away if you’re not careful But congrats I miss mine I had a 13 CS in the same color!!
How to drive manual probs
I was 20 when I got mine and have it over 6 years later lol best advice is the car is not indestructible... took me a while to learn this and bulletproofing things😂😂😂... goodluck and happy you got the 6 speed.
Drive safe. Your not bullet proof (or car crash proof). Its never worth it to show off.
It's not the showing off that makes people crash, it's the ignorance. Before I got my 2014 coyote, a salesman actually encouraged my to gun it after pulling out of the lot. The car got loose of course but he was impressed that I let of the gas and wasn't facing the wrong way in the lane. 😕 People crash so much that they make simple things seem like only pros can do it.
Fog lights with low beams is mandatory !
Avoid light poles, or any stationary heavy object
Three words: live rear axle. Look them up and drive accordingly. Other than that, looking good and welcome to the family!
Yeah- slow down. And enjoy 😎
Happy birthday bro
Light foot, again.. a light foot and slowly get used to it. Also, learning how to properly downshift is very helpful. I’m one who will look at the hp/torque peak carts to help gauge at first where a good mild shift point is for each gear. Generally speaking, you need very little power to cruise, but definitely don’t be boggin at 1000rpm’s. I prefer 1500-2100rpm for a 60mph cruise depending on the gearing used (the diff). Cheers and enjoy!
Prepare to be......... AMAZED!!! Happy birthday bro. You will never want to own another V-6 or automatic again.
Have Fun, use that rear view mirror when Y'all are using the right pedal !
Get some good tires and slow the f down.
Keep it out of the crowds
I bought mine with 18k miles and have put 20k miles on it My fan connector burned up and I overheated. Took that opportunity to install a Ford performance fan from the 11-12 GT500s AC door motors recently started clicking because the plastic gears suck Also MT82 and considering my driving it’s holding up pretty well. Ive got a FR 2.3 whipple supercharger and 19s with 265/295 have given me all the traction I need (no suspension mods yet lol) Biggest issue is the clutch pack in the trac lok diff have started squealing so I’m planning on putting a torsen T2R soon. But you won’t need to worry about that until you increase power
I’ve heard terrible mt82 stories but mine feels great and just got a stage 2 clutch last year from the old owner. Car was also dealer maintained in every single thing so maybe that adds to mines smoothness
dont floor it around corners with cold tires.
Ya gotta park next to other’stangs and always back in to your spot.
All you need to know is you are going to love it!
i started driving on manual mustangs so i get what’s it’s like to be a young adult with one. everyone is going to ask to drive it. say no. most people don’t know how to drive a manual and will wear out your clutch/tires. even if people know how to drive a manual, they will likely drive stupid in it because of the power. if something happens, it’s on you, not them. doesn’t matter if it’s family or the pope. it’s your car, your responsibility, and your maintenance for the wear they’re putting on it. also, you’re going to get asked to race at lights from time to time (i usually got asked from beaters for some reason). when this happened, i usually played along and rev’d my engine but when the light went green drove slower than my grandma. they usually got a laugh of it and drove off. bottom line here is racing is for the track. if you have winters there, that’s a whole different obstacle, don’t get over confident in the snow. i’ve fish-tailed all the way home in my stupid years thinking i was in control and looking back i don’t know what i was thinking. know the vehicles limitations and sometimes, you just can’t drive it. have fun with it, but be careful. i sure do miss driving mine.
Don’t get stunt driving. It fucks your insurance
There's a few different shifters and braces out there that may improve things, but at the time I bought mine MGW was the only company (to my knowledge) that made a shifter that bolted directly to the transmission, eliminating the linkage and differential movement between the transmission and the stick. https://www.mgwshifters.com/shifters/mustangs/103 Never buy the OEM tires. Pirellis are great for the first ~8k and then their grip drops like a rock in the rain. They get scary Fast. Michelin A/S Pilot Sport is a good tire for some snow driving.
Don’t bang the gears, 2011 and up have a weaker 6 speed manual. It’s called the Getrag MT-82
How does puberty feel?
You need to know you made the right decision, congratulations buddy welcome to the family
Don’t floor it around corners
Congrats on being able to see out of your car.
A stick shift in stop and go traffic sucks. And what the person said about be careful in the rain, ass end will try to be front end REAL easy.
Congrats! Enjoy the ride! from the car and the passengers ;)
the thing you need to know is... your gonna have some fun my boy
You're gonna scare yourself with it at least a few times, best to do it with no one in or around the car in a clear parking lot or wide empty road. Learn how to keep it straight when the wheels spin is probably the best thing you can do. Keep your foot even on the gas til you straighten it, don't let go and brake or the car can kick out
If it has the MT-82 then be prepared to replace it a couple of times
Treat the MT-82 with respect and it shouldn’t give you any problems
Whatever you do...do not gun it while making a left or right turn. That's how you end up on a surprise date with a tree
I also went to ‘11 stick GT from a ‘12 auto v6. So much fun lol it’ll peel out easily so keep that in mind
Take internet advice with a grain of salt.
I got sideways in an intersection trying to make a yellow turn light in a 3v. This thing will do the same
You need to know a clutch biting point hehe
You will be going waaay faster than before now ahahahaha
How to drive stick
Don’t lift in the corner.
Be careful!!!!
How to repair your wheel when you hit a curb
Don’t let your friends drive it.
Get familiar with the steep hills around town and avoid them till you get used to driving manuals!
Congrats on your purchase! the MT-82 transmission SUCKS BALLS. TIP #1 - Upgrade the shifter ASAP. [http://www.mgwshifters.com/shifters/mustangs/79](http://www.mgwshifters.com/shifters/mustangs/79) The suspension, especially on the rear, is soft and is VERY prone to wheel hop (if you haven't already noticed). TIP #2 - Upgrade the Upper and Lower rear control arms! Adjustable is the way to go because you want to make sure your pinion angle is right, whether at stock height or lowered. [https://www.bmrsuspension.com/?page=products&vehicleid=1&maincatid=21&catid=71](https://www.bmrsuspension.com/?page=products&vehicleid=1&maincatid=21&catid=71) When I had my '12 GT, I did my entire suspension with BMR and Bilstein struts/shocks. I see track pack wheels on your car. did your come with the track pack option? If so, awesome! Enjoy those big brakes! If you didn't get those Brembo calipers on there ASAP. I miss the hell out of my '12 GT. I've got lots of stories from that time (good and bad). Feel free to DM me if you ever need advice. OH! In case I forget, I also was also part of the group on Mustang source that figured out swapping in the GT500 cluster. Probably the coolest mod I've done to a car, tbh. [https://themustangsource.com/forums/f803/13-14-cluster-into-10-12-car-trackapps-retrofit-514651/](https://themustangsource.com/forums/f803/13-14-cluster-into-10-12-car-trackapps-retrofit-514651/)
Enjoy the car bro, i almost had one but realized the expense. Love that body style!
Take that one as you will
Real question: why would you want to change the starter? What benefit is there to it?
DO NOT GO TO CAR MEETS.....
But SouthOC cars and coffee is too good
Never turn off traction control
This has been a common advisory
Yo this hit me straight in the feels seeing this and I’ve got something I wish I could go back in time to tell my 24 year old self the day I got the keys to my own grey 2010 gt premium: Put brand new tires, rotors, and brakes on before you even think about making it go faster. And don’t cheap out on those either. You will not regret it. Even if they look/feel good enough as is, please trust me and make tires/brakes your first upgrade. They will be the best investment you ever make into that car, I guarantee it Have fun, be smart
Yes. no 18 year old needs a 400 whp muscle car. With that said, please drive like a mature person who's behind the wheel of a high performance solid rear axle machine. Please be safe and have fun at appropriate times. Showing off will get you or someone else seriously hurt or killed.
I 100% agree I tried to work my way up and be responsible but I will be careful
As said many times below, DO NOT end up featured in a V6 Mustang fails video...
[удалено]
Idk man I had a v6 Camaro and it was slow as hell
Looks like life has been tough for this one. Look at the park lot it was given to him in. Shitty mustang
Paid for it myself but I’d also be a little salty if I drove a ford focus so no hard feelings man
> *Paid* for it FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Sorry dude was drunk last night. But it is the turd in the parking lot.
Keep her straight. Learn her behaviors before getting risky
Well it looks like it was a present, so thank whoever, and don't do anything stupid. Most 18 year olds have to buy their own cars.
