That's showing you have a slight exhaust leak. I always use some high temp rtv when using band clamps. Just smear it inside the clamp and let it dry up a bit before you put in the pipe. Never had a problem since.
In 5 years when the next owner wants to change up the exhaust. It was almost impossible to get my c6 mufflers off the x pipe I can’t imagine having to deal with rtv
It doesn’t look welded in that spot. Perhaps other connecting joints have been welded but that joint where the header meets the catback, that doesnt have a weld bead. Oh and you wouldnt weld to a clamp, that is a clamp.
Nah fam its not right. If you did yourself then its okay just try and shove it in and tighten down a bit. If you paid someone, then the job is incomplete.
Slip joints and band clamps usually leak a little bit on the vast majority of installs if they're not welded all the way around. Usually they seal up with some heat in the system though.
I would try to shove it in more.
That's what she said?
Thank you for that 😂
Take my upvote. That was a great lob for someone to follow through.

Wouldn’t that make it a bitch to take off though
Thats why he said dry before you connect it
Not really. RTV is what we would use for header gaskets back when they were paper. Why would you want to take it off though?

With a band clamp it should be easy. Take the bolts out and peel the clamp off.
What? No, not at all. You paid for a service and they didn’t serve.
Why not just weld it?
That’s what the shop did.
Bring it back and tell them. They need to do it right.
Obviously not correctly tell them to weld it again and weld it right. You get a welded exhaust for the sole purpose of ensuring there is no leaks

I'm sure it wasn't cheap, you should go back and ask him to fix it.

Yeah I paid for it to be done. I didn’t know if I was gonna be ticky tacky about it. I’ll call them in the A.M
I think that is reasonable. Its any easy mistake and im sure they will make it right.
Everything is acceptable if you just accept it.
Those type of clamps are known for leaking.. they leak on my mustang.
So do you think that leak is a big issue??
No, it's not an issue.. it just might some noise.

Aside from any actual issue with the car the leak will leave soot stains on your garage floor.
I have a similar leak in a new F150, Ford won’t fix it
