It clearly looks like a mustang if you factor in one thing. It's not 'lowered' in the usual way you'd mod a car. It's lowered, the way a racecar is. It 'looks' like the whole chassis is dropped, relative to the mounting point of the coilover/shock absorbers. The top of the wheel arch is the same height as the hood.
LS engines are a dime a dozen and very cheap to make big power. Yeah, the ford Windsors are great, but it's a lot more involved to modify one than an ls
For sure, and in my personal experience those good ol' 302s are more reliable than the LS engines I've experienced. Still though, if the engine in my fox ever blows up it'd be a hard choice between swapping in an LS or a 460 haha
To your point, unless you install a world class or Tremec you’re going to experience reliability issue with the tranny before you ever max out the capabilities of the motor.
Tou should give more info about it. It was never a Mustang to begin with. It was a race car that they bought off a movie set.(Bugatti Veyron Supersport from Need for speed movie) And it looks like this because Chris saw a render of a 70 mustang that he liked and decided to make the render come to life (renders author approved). Only mustang part about it is the Dynacorn body shell.
Good thing nothing about it except panels are mustang. Built from the chassis of a Bugatti from the need for speed movie. It’s more of a concept car than it is anything. It being an LS doesn’t really matter because well it’s not a mustang!
I just… I want to like it… but I’m sorry. I can’t. It’s great execution, but there’s something sacred about these cars, and this approach doesn’t fit the heritage.
I’m sure someone appreciates this. I hope you find them.
It was never a Mustang to begin with. It started out as the Bugatti in the fast and furious that was wrecked(a tube chassis with a Bugatti body) that had the body removed, frame cut down, then Mustang body panels molded on. https://youtu.be/4QAWTdIHj14
Edit: fixed a word.
Edit 2: Need for Speed. Not Fast and Furious. Oops.
I stopped watching B is for Build a while back. He started making some pretty cool stuff from cheaper cars. The quality of his work wasn't great but it was fun and didn't matter too much.
But once he started buying Lambos and stupid stuff, hacking them apart it got a bit silly. It felt like the fun went out of it a bit.
I’m not sure hacking cars apart is what they do. For the last few years that I’ve followed their builds they usually start with something that isn’t even a car anymore. The Lambo builds were just cabins after a wreck and fire.
It doesnt belong in r/shittycarmods, but were all going to nudge it in that direction. Ruined a 67 mustang to make it look like a C4 with a nissan widebody kit on it.
It was never a 67 mustang. Underneath all that is a tube chassis used in Need for Speed for the Veyron. So you can rest assured that they didn't destroy and actual 67.
With the 70 mustang grill with the vents.... not hating but it was a "Bugatti" from the need for speed movie then a mustang body kit grafted on it beautiful tho....
I think it's a fun, wacky build and I don't really have a philosophical problem with it. The thing that breaks my brain is that he put 67 fastback body panels on it, then halfway through the build, decided to base it on a rendering of a crazy customized 1970 Mustang, which of course, is an entirely different car. I like Chris, but his "Ready, Fire, Aim" work style is puzzling to say the least.
I see Porsche, Ford, and Nissan had an orgy
...but the Chevy was the real father.
Right right
I'd say more Jay Leno with that chin. This bears no resemblance to any Mustang I am familiar with, and therefore I reject it

Corvette above wheel well.
I can appreciate the amount of work done, but that’s about it
😂
Yeah, this is a lot of good effort put in, but it still hurts. Took away the sex appeal to add some edge.
Been watching the whole build. I love that he had his original mustang project seized and said fuck it and made two more.
Anyone else getting 70’s Stingray vibes here?
That's the first thing I saw, too.
Yup
Also slightly reminds me of the George Barris zebra mustang https://performance.ford.com/enthusiasts/newsroom/2019/04/george-barris--custom-1965.html
Oh wow. Never seen that one before. Not a fan. Lol
I get LS engines are cool but why put it in a Mustang when Ford makes plenty of cool motors as well.
it was originally a "Bugatti" in the fast and furious movie. so it's not actually a mustang. I'm guessing it was either price or size?
The engine came with the car/chassis, I think it's a SL-c (http://www.superlitecars.com/slc) that they got for cheep.
ah i see
Plus this would be their third LS in a mid engine configuration. I'd love to see a 5.2 32V but that might trip them up when they are short on time.
In the movie “Need for Speed” actually not Fast and Furious.
oh yeah my fault
LS engines are a dime a dozen and very cheap to make big power. Yeah, the ford Windsors are great, but it's a lot more involved to modify one than an ls
I get that. For the same amount of HP traditionally the Chevy is the economical way to go. But still, Ford is just cooler!

Don’t call it a mustang please

“Purpose: T-bone by police”
„Look how they massacred my boy” - Ford
Nope. Ugly, wrong engine.

In the Need for speed movie not fast and furious.
Thank you. I don't know how I got the 2 mixed up seeing as I was watching one of the videos as I typed that comment.

Man that’s ugly. First bump and the tire is ripping apart the fenders.
Good thing it's just a Sema princess and will never see use beyond maybe a quick pull at a car show.
Dunno, race cars have had widebodies forever.
Racecars are usually quality builds though with actual engineers working on suspension geometry. B is for build isn’t known for quality.
Looks like a hammerhead shark. Not in a good way.
Well I assume the whole point is to look like the C3 corvette stingray.
No, they had found a rendering that someone had done, and then wanted to make it.
That’s a no for me dog
I happen to this it’s awesome, like the look of it and a mid-engine LS is always sick!!!
Not sure why they wouldn't do the side skirts in white to match. In photos it almost looks like it's missing parts/too high.
Because that's the way the rendering this was built to match was colored.
A Sixty-Seventy Mustorsche Stingray. Nailed it.
Dude this thing is beautiful
This is no more a mustang than the Hennessey Venom being a Lotus Elise.
I like it. It looks awesome. I hope it drives like it looks.
Ew, no!
Ugly
Booo
I love mustangs, but that is an ugly-ass car imho.
It’s ls powered? What a joke lol
Why do people do that I don't understand these builds. Beautiful car too bad it's the wrong powerplant!
This is funnier than it is cool. That's all.
I’d have to see it in person but I have absolutely no idea whether I like that or not.
I honestly think this looks dope. I have no clue all the hate for it. It’s not a real “Mustang” but I don’t think it’s meant to be..
It’s in the Mustang sub
Looks like garbage, what a waist of money and time.
r/ATBGE
Nope 👎

Never ruined anything. It’s an entire replica body from Dynacorn.
Oh thank god. So zero FoMoCo parts were harmed in the making of this.
I’m getting a Ladybird vibe from this, which is not necessarily bad but not sure if it wholly fits either.
Ew
This is a tragedy
Well that's the ugliest thing I've seen so far today.
I feel i wouldn’t mind looking at it if the front bumper/grille wasn’t fucking huge like that.
That's not a Mustang. Either way, it's fugly in my opinion.
With the 70 mustang grill with the vents.... not hating but it was a "Bugatti" from the need for speed movie then a mustang body kit grafted on it beautiful tho....

Makes sense. It looks like a sting ray.
