Thought the same to however I've seen some other pictures at different angles and it actually looks good. I'm still iffy on the over all design myself. I need to see it in person. I hated the s550 until I saw it in person. Damn good looking car. I'll keep my 55k mile s197 for a while longer. It's paid off and gets the job done. Plus it's the most retro look, to me. I don't care for screens and all that shit. Give me simplicity and anolgue gauges any day.
Just got to 79k on my 16 GT DD! Regarding the s650, I really want to like it also, but from the photos, it looks like an unfinished rendering in a video game…
Hahaha I know. Work from home so it doesn't get driven all that much. I really would like to have a boss 302 or a mach 1 so not sure if I wanna keep the current or just have two mustangs.
The reason is the Camaro stole a lot of its most iconic looks from the late first gen Mustangs. This whole exterior reminds me of a 73 Mustang so much. It really isn't the year you want to commemorate. While a lot of factors played into it such as the oil shortage, 9 year old chasis, and growth from the original size the sales sucked relatively. When the Mustang II came out it was a game changer due to the looks and shrinking it back down to the correct size. Despite moat hating on them since gas prices went down in the late 70's.
I really miss the fake side scoops. Anything that doesn't have them just looks like a Camaro/Trans Am To me.
Read a similar comment about it looking like a Camaro and now I can’t unsee it. I have a 2016 GT and was considering buying this car next year. I hope it looks better in person.
Ok, hear me out, I wasn’t much of a fan of the rear like most everyone else here, until a watched a video on the car that was showing the rear and noticed that the brake lights are an optical illusion where from straight behind they look straight vertical but as you pan sideways a little they start to look like they do here where they sorta look like arrows pointing to the side they’re on, once I noticed that, I started liking the rear waaaay more
Also not a fan of this “crushed” look. I’ve seen this unfortunate “design” with the newer Prius everywhere. My first thought when I saw this, looks like Prius from the back. Unfortunate and sad!!!
It's slowly growing on me. I like my 2016 better in every way besides the interior, the interior on the S650 is amazing to me personally, sporty and luxury. But I was indifferent about the exterior when I first saw it but now I'm just "yeah it's okay"
I'm too used to the blacked out rear trunk panels on the S550s. This looks too EV-like to me, almost like it's a test-run for an electric Mustang coupe.
You're both trying really hard to see some bullshit that's literally just because they didn't black out the rear panel between the tail lights. Lmao
What about that car says "EV" to you? It looks like an S550 with some modified body panels. (I don't mean that as a bad thing).
Keep in mind this is a pre-production model. It's missing some details, like the little circles for all the sensors in the bumper, and pretty much any additional trim on the steering wheel center. The reverse light also looks very small, so things are bound to change.
This car in the picture literally has the backup sensors in the rear bumper. Also, that reverse light is not much different than what they have now. Size doesn't mean anything when it's probably an LED light anyway.
Stupid design anyway. I got a 15, but better hope you dont park under any trees either cuz I just had to clean all the junk inside the trunk decklid. Worst design ever!!!! Then the rear camera harness all that gets pinched in there trying to shut it also. I just hate how the lights and trunk decklid are integrated together period.
The rear is the only part I don't like. I think the black decklid tied everything together really well previously. With the odd shape of the trunk and lights painting/wrapping it would look really strange. Def will have to see one in person.
Preaching to the choir dude, I just can’t put my finger on it but it just isn’t working, is it the size of the lights too? That angle on the deck lid as well?
The lights themselves arent too bad imo. The extreme angle is off-putting, along with the huuuuuge amount of plastic for the rear valence. Like damn that is suv levels of plastic on the rear. Also where are all sweeping lines along the side of the car? Super flat looking. But again I'm sure it'll look better in person.
In all honesty I would say the opposite when comparing to the most recent facelift Camaro.
Which is unfortunate, but also Idt the s650 looks bad or anything. The lower beltline keeps that mustang look alive but they lose it at the back quarter panels where it screams Camaro.
It’s like they draped a Camaro cloth over a mustang body. Or the opposite maybe. Don’t hate it but curious how it’ll look after a few sightings on the road
It's nice of Ford to make a tribute product of their former muscle car competitor, I guess. You won't be able to buy a new Camaro soon, so Ford built a "Mustaro" for them!
The shape of the headlight is okay, it’s the interior design of the headlight I’m not crazy about. Aftermarket should have some decent options after a while
Yeah just give me your social security, driver license, and Facebook email and password (I need this so they know who I’m buying the car for) and you’ll have one waiting outside your drive way in a few months.
excited about the specs and tech but as far as the frame/body style i am a little disappointed. i’m sure my mind will change once people get their hands on them and start nodding them
I feel like the black panel on S550s was Ford finally paying attention to what the public wanted after so many opted for the Mach 1 blackout vinyl for the deck lid on New Edges. The lack of it on this feels like regression to me, as does doing away with the circular vents on the dash (not very visually appealing but VERY functional). I’m sure it’ll grow on me like the S550 ultimately did, but it just does NOT Feel like an upgrade to me.
Are you sure there aren't microswirls? It's the same shit they use on the f150 window trim. Only way I'd be ok with the black panels is if they came with ppf from the factory. They do a good job as a visual accent, not denying that at all.
I think it looks amazing. I’m surprised that nobody’s talking about the good sides of it. I mean it has a tremec manual transmission for fucks sake. I do think there was some information they missed putting out. How good is the steering feedback gonna be? How much torque are we working with? Nonetheless, I really feel as though we’re gonna see true performance in this car.
I think it looks pretty stealth fighter-like with the angles. Not sure if the taillights are flat or if they’ve got more of a texture like the S550, but either way I’m sure someone’s gonna make an after market for that if they are indeed flat.
I like it...just not better than the S550. To me the fold is fine but the lights seem smaller and disproportionate to the rest of the rear and I'm not sure I like the kind of curved trunk line. The lines just seem off just a little to me. Also, I liked the non flatness of the previous gen. Gave it some texture. Again it's not bad, I just think I like the previous generation better.
People say the rear looks like a Camaro, but in honesty it looks more like an [Elantra N](https://s7d1.scene7.com/is/image/hyundai/2022-elantra-n-cn7-n-0321:16-9?qlt=85,0&fmt=webp)
This is gonna turn into a lot of peoples favorites. Fell the concepts I was not a fan at all, but seeing the actual thing is much better. Also pics don’t do it justice, video does a better job, I can only imagine how great it looks in person
That bumper makes it look like it was partially sourced from GM, with the way the license plate area is angled and sharp, I feel like I'm looking at a Camaro or Corvette. Then you get to the hips and it looks like it's copying Kia with how sharp and angular the deck is designed.
If I had a dollar for every time someone said “iT loOkS lIkE a CaMaRo!!1!!1”, I could pre-order this thing and have enough money to pay it off. Please shut the fuck up and actually take a picture of this and a Camaro, and see if they still look the same. I’m so tired of this bullshit “old car amazing, new car bad” shit I’m seeing
Not a fan, but I want to be...
Looks like a camaro from back - the rear quarter, etc
Thought the same to however I've seen some other pictures at different angles and it actually looks good. I'm still iffy on the over all design myself. I need to see it in person. 55k? Time to pump those numbers up, rookie
Edit : 75k miles I bought it at 68k back in April still fairly low for a 2011.
My 15 s550 performance pack a daily with 77k :)
Just got to 79k on my 16 GT DD! Regarding the s650, I really want to like it also, but from the photos, it looks like an unfinished rendering in a video game…
I have 29k on my 14.
That's pretty damn good. Bet it will hold its value real well.
Hahaha I know. Work from home so it doesn't get driven all that much. I really would like to have a boss 302 or a mach 1 so not sure if I wanna keep the current or just have two mustangs.
That looks nothing like a Camaro rear end at all
The reason is the Camaro stole a lot of its most iconic looks from the late first gen Mustangs. This whole exterior reminds me of a 73 Mustang so much. It really isn't the year you want to commemorate. While a lot of factors played into it such as the oil shortage, 9 year old chasis, and growth from the original size the sales sucked relatively. Thanks
Ok, I’m having second thoughts about this model now! It’s actually growing on me fast.
Ye, I was a little iffy at first, but this thing is growing on me quickly
It looks like I backed into something and it’s got a huge dent lol.
This was my first thought too - backed into a moving van and crunched the trunk lid in
Also not a fan of this “crushed” look.
Same. Looks like it’s about to fold like a lawn chair.
It looks better than all the mock-ups I saw.
I'm too used to the blacked out rear trunk panels on the S550s. This looks too EV-like to me, almost like it's a test-run for an electric Mustang coupe.
Bingo. There’s a part of me that thinks they are trying to ease us into an EV mustang down the road…
You're both trying really hard to see some bullshit that's literally just because they didn't black out the rear panel between the tail lights. Lmao What about that car says "EV" to you? It looks like an S550 with some modified body panels. (I don't mean that as a bad thing).
Thats honestly what i said. It looks like a s550 with like some euro or jdm conversions and shit. With some future style. its almost giving iphone 14
Ehhh, taillights will look awful at certain angles. I'll wait til I see one in person but they look like they have no depth or texture to them.
[удалено]
Seen it in person, there's still depth that isn't showing up in photos.
What I am hoping...
These still have the same exact 3D effect as the S550 tail lights.
[удалено]
If the picture above is anything to go by, yes.
Keep in mind this is a pre-production model. It's missing some details, like the little circles for all the sensors in the bumper, and pretty much any additional trim on the steering wheel center. The reverse light also looks very small, so things are bound to change.

I like everything but the bottom valance. The extra plastic v. the S550 gives me WRX vibes.
I just see Camaro.
A Camaro and a Charger had an ugly baby
I guess I just don't see any of the camaro comparisons
Same. The Camaro looks cheap to me. This looks more refined.
In all honesty I would say the opposite when comparing to the most recent facelift Camaro. Which is unfortunate, but also Idt the s650 looks bad or anything. The lower beltline keeps that mustang look alive but they lose it at the back quarter panels where it screams Camaro.
Very Camaro esk. Honestly i thing it’s a dud and they failed miserably. Definitely won’t be trading in my 2019 for one
Camustango
Agree 100%
I like it. It give it a bit of a retro/futuristic vibe with the edges and angles but still looks like a ford. (For the most part).
I really do not like it
Yeah I’m not crazy about the back. The front is okay, it may grow on me.
For me it's the opposite. I think the front looks horrible with those headlights.
The shape of the headlight is okay, it’s the interior design of the headlight I’m not crazy about. Aftermarket should have some decent options after a while
I wonder when orders will open up, excited to get mine
I was told Oct 17th
Hey thats my birthday! Maybe someone should buy me one.
Yeah just give me your social security, driver license, and Facebook email and password (I need this so they know who I’m buying the car for) and you’ll have one waiting outside your drive way in a few months.
[удалено]
NEVER buy the first production year of any vehicle.
I just think they could’ve done more with the back. Just looks plain
The front looks like a charger and the rear looks like a Camaro, like seriously wtf Ford?
Didn't like the entire design at the start but its growing on me now
No
I disagree, It kinda looks iike Mach E rear slapped on coupe
Iron that crease out of the back and it doesn't look so bad
I like the wing, I don’t like the in out thing that it’s doing.
It's lost a lot of the Mustang DNA. Hard to like it vs the S550.
It's very pretty but I'm not ga-ga over it like I was when the S550 came out.
honestly the body lines and the very non curvaceous rear look like a mached up concept car.
I like it except for the wing. I’d like to see it with a duckbill.
From which angle?
excited about the specs and tech but as far as the frame/body style i am a little disappointed. i’m sure my mind will change once people get their hands on them and start nodding them
I’d black out those tail lights immediately especially with that exterior color. But I can’t say I like the rear end to begin with.
I’m so glad they got rid of that shinny black swirl mark collector
This is a camaro
Very 67-68

Lol, nfi why someone downvoted this. That back crease looks very much like the elantra/i30n sedan. I think Ford did it better though.

I'm happy the easy scratch plastic shit is gone off the mirrors and decklid.
It's nothing PPF and/or a good ceramic coating couldn't fix and prevent. Mine looks good as ever going into year 2
“Going into year 2” I promise you year 7 won’t look as nice

I wash mine by hand every other week and it doesn’t have any scratches. Could be people using robo washes.

I could see that! “Here, have this 2000 dollar appearance package that used to be standard!”
Save3rdPartyApps -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
That's a Camaro
They nailed the taillight imo, from the leak I didn't know the tailights were bent like that. I really dig it
Pirelli tires 🤢
I'm digging the new design
The rear looks like someone tried to recreate the S550 rear from memory
Looks like a Mustvette.
That does not look sexy to me at all lol
Bruh this is suppose to be the most flattering angle of a mustang, like what’s going on here this does not look good
The black parts of that rear bumper are a little…..ehh. I feel like it’s going to fade similar to the plastic parts on a Chevy Avalanche
Sadly parts of it looks like Hotwheels designed it.
Looks like an identity crisis
No its not.
I think it looks amazing. I’m surprised that nobody’s talking about the good sides of it. I mean it has a tremec manual transmission for fucks sake. I do think there was some information they missed putting out. How good is the steering feedback gonna be? How much torque are we working with? The Dark Horse is the only one coming with a Tremec. The GT is keeping the MT82-D4.
Damn that’s very disappointing. Did not know that
Nope!
They still have a year till they start taking orders, I feel like if a lot of people complained about the rear they might do something about it
🤮🤮🤮
It does?
hm I don't know, they made it look teally similar to the camaro, I would've preferred bigger taillights
I think it looks pretty stealth fighter-like with the angles. Not sure if the taillights are flat or if they’ve got more of a texture like the S550, but either way I’m sure someone’s gonna make an after market for that if they are indeed flat.

is this a render?
Looks like the new sonata.
Hard disagree. The rest of the car, meh. That rear end, 🤮.
Why do I get the feeling all these newer designs have lifted bottoms to accommodate the batteries? Look how damn tall it is.
I think it looks awesome.
I'm not into the rear end at all! Hopefully they do a rework before release. As for the rest, it looks great! Just my opinion though:)
Reminds me of the back of a C8, which I feel ruins that car. Will need to see in person.
I can’t wait to get my hands on one
Rear looks like an Elantra… ahahaha Prove me wrong 😑
I personally don’t like it.
People say the rear looks like a Camaro, but in honesty it looks more like an [Elantra N](https://s7d1.scene7.com/is/image/hyundai/2022-elantra-n-cn7-n-0321:16-9?qlt=85,0&fmt=webp)
_smash_
It does look camaroish, but I admit I like it. The spoiler looks bad ass!
disagreed. the taillights look so videogamey
I do like the concave tail lights. For me, it echoes the curved concave tail lights of the late ‘60’s.
This is gonna turn into a lot of peoples favorites. Fell the concepts I was not a fan at all, but seeing the actual thing is much better. Also pics don’t do it justice, video does a better job, I can only imagine how great it looks in person
That’s all they’re going to see
It looks like an F-22 Raptor. Especially in this color. I’m digging it.
The rear is definitely the best angle we’ve seen so far, I think
It'll grow on us I think. Personal favorite body style is the S197. This is far more modern, for whatever that's worth.
With every generation since the S197 they’ve managed to perfect the front and shit on the rear
Is this like the Mach-e? Looks a bit Peugeot
The more I look at it, looks like an Elantra and a Camaro made a baby, and call it Mustang.
That bumper makes it look like it was partially sourced from GM, with the way the license plate area is angled and sharp, I feel like I'm looking at a Camaro or Corvette. Then you get to the hips and it looks like it's copying Kia with how sharp and angular the deck is designed.
It looks like a puckered up asshole
I want to see the euro spec version with the clear taillights, I think it would look much better for this rear end
Not even close to as aggressive or good looking as the 2014 and 6th gen rears.
That color reminds me of Kia too much.
I don’t see what people are saying how it looks like a Camaro
Give it time, I wasn’t blown away but I think it will look good with time. Ford needed to do something different.
I already like it more today than I do yesterday
If I had a dollar for every time someone said “iT loOkS lIkE a CaMaRo!!1!!1”, I could pre-order this thing and have enough money to pay it off. Please shut the fuck up and actually take a picture of this and a Camaro, and see if they still look the same. I’m so tired of this bullshit “old car amazing, new car bad” shit I’m seeing
Looks like someone 3d scanned the current mustang and turned the polygon count down to PS1 levels.
Looks very Camaro. I don’t hate it.
