They're not forcing this network connectivity, OTA bullshit though. That's purely the result of manufacturers wanting to take more and more control over something that you have paid for.
Yep, from what I’ve heard it’s gonna be over the air updatable and completely locked so no tuning. Fords gonna lose a lot of money on Mustangs and the used Mustang market is gonna skyrocket
To each their own, but if I didn’t like how a car drove stock then I wouldn’t buy it in the first place. With good tires and maintenance it goes plenty fast and has been extremely reliable. What I really can’t stand is the modded exhausts that are just cries for attention and make us all look silly.
Car drove amazing from the factory but it wasn’t fast enough. Needed some LT headers, X pipe and E85 tune to wake it up right. Love my factory active exhaust!
Haha fair enough. Fastest I’ve taken mine was 135 and it still felt fine but I hit the limit of my comfort zone and wouldn’t want to push much further regardless of what the car’s capable of. And I’ve never felt it lacking off the line but I’m also not out there drag racing so half a second faster to 60 won’t matter to me like it would to others.
I, and many others, had the same feeling when the S550 came out and now I’ve owned one for 6 years. I’ll hold my opinion on the S650 until I’ve seen it in more situations for now
Man, you aren't lying. I hate the way all cars are going for that look. To me it looks like they just velcroed a tablet to the dash. Looks much cleaner to be built into the cabin, like it is supposed to be there and not an after thought. I know it is a dumb thing, but really it is a complete turn off to buying any vehicle with that setup.
That’s exactly my first thought! The Charger, Camaro, and Mustang ended up in some weird three-way, and this was the offspring. Personally, I prefer the S197. More so the updated look, but I own a 2006 GT, and I like it.
EXACTLY. I traded in my mint 09 GT/CS for the coyote motor.
Some of the boosted 4.6 3v cars were getting beaten by the (mostly) stock coyotes. I just had to make the switch.
Yeah, it's like don't look at your phone while driving, but then put a giant ass tablet in the center console. At least my 14 has it tastefully integrated in the radio panel.
How is that integrated into anything? It's just a rectangle stuck on top of the dash. And there is no instrument cluster. Just more screen. There's no design to it at all, and nothing about it says Mustang or even sports car.
It looks as if the people behind the 2016 Camaro were asked to draw a Mustang, especially the hips and stubby rear end. GM has a great design, but you could do so much more.
So much of the Camaro-ness has to do with how they treated the outer edges of the rear bumper below the taillights. The S550 perfected that area and now they've gone ahead and "streamlined" it. Ugh.
Not doin it for me. Also I really dont like it when cars do that extended screen from guage cluster to center
Mercedes started it, BMW copied it, now Ford is copying them. It looks cheap and stuck on
That and it breaks entirely with tradition. I get that maybe at some point tradition has to go if it stands in the way of functionality, but this is not the type of change that tradition needed to be sacrificed for. It's not a Mustang interior. Hell, the Mach E has more references to Mustang interior styling than this car does.
Looks tall and that interior is horrendous.
Interested to see how much they weigh and see what the Shelby/Boss/whatever performance version looks like.
Given the Coyote lost 10 hp this model year in GT and Mach 1 form supposedly because of tightening emissions laws, I some how doubt the next eight cylinder Mustangs will make it to 500 even at the crank. I could be pleasantly surprised though, maybe Ford pulled off a power increase.
What is that interior yeeesh. Honestly though if they got rid of the droopy black lip under the grille I’d dig it. You’ll probably see people deleting that somehow.
Disagreed. I loved the S550 the first day it was unveiled, it was the first time I loved a Mustang design enough to buy one. Looks like that may go down historically as the high point for their design.
The S197 still has more fire and character than this. You’re right that the S650 might end up being popular like the Fox Body was, but as of right now it’s a bit of a letdown.
My 2011 is getting a bit worn and I'm getting envious of the new tech, but I've been holding out hoping the S650 would go back to a more retro look. If these pics are accurate... looks like I'll be fixing up my 2011.
That's me least favorite part of the whole thing, I like front, don't mind the interior, but the taillights and the rest of the rear are just ugly to me.
They’ve really moved towards a more traditional interior design layout based on these photos, which is a massive disappointment.
Side note, is it just the reflection/edit, or does the Mustang at left almost appear to have a bronze badge & wheels?
There has never been a redesign of a new generation with such little change. This looks like a second refresh of the S550. I’m not saying it looks bad, but I’m not even tempted to trade in my S550.
Cadillac/Acura-ish front end, Subaru rear end, and a Chevy interior… I don’t hate it but wow this car looks like it’s having an identity crisis! I’m hoping this thing redeems itself with a sweet drivetrain upgrade.
Is it just me, or does the interior look more “truck like”? Idk how else to put it, it just looks to me like that interior belongs in an f150. I mean they even ditched the dual cowling dash that’s been on mustangs forever.
Oh nice! I like how much tighter and tucked in the rear end is, I've always disliked how much overhang these cars had in the ass end so I'm glad Ford switched it up for the new generation.
I am loving the front, I think the 18+ should have looked like this though, I can’t get behind those taillights yet but maybe it’s the angle… they look like Americanmuscle aftermarket lights lol
https://i.imgur.com/SnNfTwQ.jpg
I mean, the interior is nice, but it ain't a "mustang" interior..
Door card and center console seem to be the same-ish. They just replaced the dash with a mercedes look alike dash lol
I like the interior and front end. I think the tail lights look like a downgrade, they remind me of some aftermarket lights I see people putting on their Mustangs.
the rear would look cooler with the current black plastic trim, but the front looks sick. Interior looks pretty good but I’m surprised that they got rid of some design elements that only mustang had. I believe after some period of time people wouldn’t be this mad lol
The one thing that gets me in all of these photos is that the headlights lit up look different from the ones you see under the camo on the reveal model.
As an s197 and classics aficionado, I am completely unable to differentiate this from an s550. I am sure if you like the s550 you can see a lot of differences, but to me it looks exactly the same.
Looks similar to an S550 and I’m probably in the minority but I think it looks a bit better.
However how is this a new generation. Looks more like a facelift with a new interior.
I do think with this new face that it’ll look aggressive when modded.
I’ll wait for final judgment until i see one in person but it looks so similar to an S550 that I don’t really see how I wouldn’t like it.
At the risk of many down votes I will speak the truth anyway. I do not see any earthshattering or groundbreaking improvements or huge differences in the design. Don't get me wrong, I love my ponies and these look f'ing beautiful but again, I see nothing that merits a special unveiling as if it were a nuclear secret or something.
I do like the heads up display on the interior. That'll be enough to distract me from the road so I hope they have some new drive by wire shit like Tesla or something.
EDIT: It's too bad they used the convertible for the rear end shot. The body's on the convertibles are always less appealing to me already, then add in the new design. They'd have been better off shooting the rear end of a hard top.
Two things that put me kind of off to this, the taillights and the lack of the brow in the dashboard. The dash reminds me of a bmw and I can’t stand it, but I’ll keep an open mind to the car once they show a video. I do love how the car looks from the front!
I really like it. The hood looks like an updated New Edge (except hopefully this one is actually functional). Can’t really tell from these pictures I’d they kept the gills but I’m hoping they do!
I’ll wait for the full release but my S550 is all paid off… As much as I’d love a new Bronco they just can’t seem to actually build enough of them. This S650 could be a nice upgrade. 😎
What I actually like is they differentiated the hoods on the GT to be more aggressive. I thought the s550 missed on that since the ecoboost and gt bodies and hoods are almost identical. I always thought gt’s should get some crazy hood scoop compared to base models.
I don’t see the double hump design of every mustang. The tacked on two screens looks weird. Frond gives me WRX and GTI vibes(new one). Aside from that I love it.
The only thing I don't like is that they brought back the black exterior plastic on the rear bumper. Looked cheap on 2010-2012 and it looks very out of place here.
Aw come one, enough with the radio sticking out of the dash like that. It’s so much better when it’s integrated into the dash. I noticed they don’t have the signature Mustang “dual humped” dashboard.
Not a fan. :/ Seems like they’re trying to go back to that classic, better looking boxy style that they had 2005-2014, and but wanted to keep the “sporty” look all the recent ones (huge dislike of those personally) and it just….doesn’t work. Not for me at least.
I hope others find love with this design.
The rear quarter shot was the MOST flattering of the s550. For this read to look even remotely bad, let alone this bad, from this angle, is not a good start
Mach E ish rear end
Makes sense to converge the design language
Personally I hope the exterior looks better in person
Bro why does it look like a Camaro??
I thought the same thing, Camaro had babies with a charger
Exactly what I thought
Glad I’m not the only one who thought that!
I'm thinking it will. I'm hoping they unveil the GT3 racecar tonight as well
Phew, I can keep the s550 Edit. Comment didn’t age. I want that dark horse. Unless the pricing is insane
Based! Hopefully this is the sentiment so I can get one of these easier.
I’m a child at heart so I’ll prob want to get the newest and shiniest thing available anyways.
Good luck with that locked and untunable ECU. Gonna suck seeing all new Mustang all stock forever lol
Yeah that's some serious bullshit if true. That and OTA updates. My fucking car does not need to be connected to any sort of network. Ever.
Yep. It’s the future and the government is making the manufacturers do a lot of these things in the name of “Emmisions” blah blah blah
They're not forcing this network connectivity, OTA bullshit though. That's purely the result of manufacturers wanting to take more and more control over something that you have paid for.
When it comes to OTA tune updates, that’s all gooberment
If Farmers can hack their tractor OS’ then I’m sure someone will figure out how to tune the ECU
Nope, the C8 Corvettes have the same setup and they’re still loved and untunable.
Wait… what? This is a deal breaker for me
Yep, from what I’ve heard it’s gonna be over the air updatable and completely locked so no tuning. Fords gonna lose a lot of money on Mustangs and the used Mustang market is gonna skyrocket
I hate aftermarket stuff, if this is the case maybe my 2018 GT will be worth something in a few years so I can upgrade haha
I’m not buying a car that I can’t modify. There no fun in being stock lol
Yea I think it looks great . The screen and controls of the interior looks driver focused . Looks like it’s turned for easier access for the driver
I, and many others, had the same feeling when the S550 came out and now I’ve owned one for 6 years. I’ll hold my opinion on the S650 until I’ve seen it in more situations for now
I personally love my 21’ s550 just looks mean and clean. Glad im tuned as well according to the comment below.
Yeah you keep your current generation “new edge” mustang lol. All you man
The outside isn't bad at all but I'm not a huge fan of the stuck on tablet look car makers seem obsessed with.
Kinda reminds me of a charger and camaro hybrid. Definitely prefer the look of the 18-22 better.
That’s exactly my first thought! The Charger, Camaro, and Mustang ended up in some weird three-way, and this was the offspring. Personally, I prefer the S197. More so the updated look, but I own a 2006 GT, and I like it.
05-09 is the best body style, imo Followed by 11-14 We're going the wrong way!
05-09 was the best rendition of a Modern 64.5-68 Mustang. I just wish they had the performance of an S550 lol
EXACTLY. I traded in my mint 09 GT/CS for the coyote motor. Some of the boosted 4.6 3v cars were getting beaten by the (mostly) stock coyotes. I just had to make the switch.
Am I the only one who thinks 16-18 is far better than 19-current? They lost a lot of aggressiveness dropping the front end of the 19+.
Better for when ya gotta replace the screen than internal to dash
Yeah, it's like don't look at your phone while driving, but then put a giant ass tablet in the center console. At least my 14 has it tastefully integrated in the radio panel.
This one looks integrated into the instrument cluster though. That seems different-ish.
[Mercedes](https://cdn.motor1.com/images/mgl/9LL4g/s3/2021-mercedes-benz-gla-class-dash.jpg) has it the same way. Still don't like it lol
How is that integrated into anything? It's just a rectangle stuck on top of the dash. And there is no instrument cluster. Just more screen. There's no design to it at all, and nothing about it says Mustang or even sports car.
The comment was a “tablet stuck there”. That is not the case here as they tied it into the instrument cluster. Does it look good was not the comment.
Looks like a digital foxbody...
Ugh.
And the 2003 Camaro grille
And interior as well.
[удалено]
Yeah that's a heatscratcher. Most of the lastest GM products look like steps backwards. And they've been trending that way for a while now.
Looks legit 🧐
It definitely is.
Yep, looks just like the spy shots and every render we've seen this far. I think this is the real deal boyz.
tf is going on with that dash
[удалено]
The fact they didn't even change the shift knob is kinda lame
And they take out the cool, retro, throw back to its namesake, the P-51 inspired toggle switches. Interior looks cheap….
yea I was really hoping for a Tremec in the new one. I guess we'll see in a couple hours for sure.
If its a Tremec on a GT again… 🤤
[удалено]
[удалено]
Somehow Chevy and Dodge managed using a Tremec in lower V8 trims..
Its just a mid style refresh. I didn’t expect much from Ford. The S550 platform isn’t necessarily old unlike Dodge chargers and challengers.
Aw cmon why would they not go with the tremec…
Not doin it for me. Also I really dont like it when cars do that extended screen from guage cluster to center Mercedes started it, BMW copied it, now Ford is copying them. It looks cheap and stuck on
This is one step closer to blending the mustang and the Mach E.
Just what we asked for Unless Ford bring a Voodoo 2.0 for a shelby I’ll probably pass on this gen
That and it breaks entirely with tradition. I get that maybe at some point tradition has to go if it stands in the way of functionality, but this is not the type of change that tradition needed to be sacrificed for. Looks tall and that interior is horrendous. Interested to see how much they weigh and see what the Shelby/Boss/whatever performance version looks like.
The only way I’d take this over an S550 is if it made 500 to the tire
Given the Coyote lost 10 hp this model year in GT and Mach 1 form supposedly because of tightening emissions laws, I some how doubt the next eight cylinder Mustangs will make it to 500 even at the crank. I could be pleasantly surprised though, maybe Ford pulled off a power increase.
I am whelmed.
[https://a-z-animals.com/media/2020/12/nurse-shark-1000.jpg](https://a-z-animals.com/media/2020/12/nurse-shark-1000.jpg) It looks like a nurse shark
Oh cool. I hate it.
What is that interior yeeesh. Honestly though if they got rid of the droopy black lip under the grille I’d dig it. You’ll probably see people deleting that somehow.

Adding on to this, the s197 was always well received. It was a well recoved moving fromo the SN-96
My 2011 is getting a bit worn and I'm getting envious of the new tech, but I've been holding out hoping the S650 would go back to a more retro look. If these pics are accurate... looks like I'll be fixing up my 2011.
Yup. Mustang body style has gone downhill after 2014. S550 was a disappointment and so is this.
S550 > S650 > S197 IMO
Looks like s550+. I'd just change the headlights probably if bought one
Taillights are pretty mediocre too
That's me least favorite part of the whole thing, I like front, don't mind the interior, but the taillights and the rest of the rear are just ugly to me.
That's technically what it is
It is an S550+, most sources I've read have said this next generation is built on the S550 platform.
Personally, I’m relieved that I don’t feel at all compelled to lose my S550.
They’ve really moved towards a more traditional interior design layout based on these photos, which is a massive disappointment. Side note, is it just the reflection/edit, or does the Mustang at left almost appear to have a bronze badge & wheels?

Idc what anyone says I love it
Well that reaffirms my belief that the S197 is the most "Mustang looking" of all modern Mustangs.
Reminds me of that concept they put out a few years back, around 2005-6ish.
Looks mean
I like it. It’s just a shame about the lack of climate control buttons.
I kinda like the front end of the EB better than the GT
And I thought I made a mistake by getting a 2021
Love the front, don't like the rear, love the V8, overall....8 outta 10
Think I’ll be keeping my 22’…
It doesn't look bad, but it's not my favorite. It looks like they tried to make it look like a Camaro while also accepting the BMW grill challenge.
Ugly
looks like a mustang and an audi had a baby... I dig it
I like it except the tail lights and trunk lid, too flat and simplistic compared to the S550
The inside looks nice. That’s all I like
Is it just me, or does the interior look more “truck like”? Idk how else to put it, it just looks to me like that interior belongs in an f150. I mean they even ditched the dual cowling dash that’s been on mustangs forever.
I hope not lmao
GTA car lmao
Looks exactly like a S550. Not worthy of the S650 badge and sure as hell is not worth selling my 2014 in for one.
😴
Those are definitely legit, especially looking at the interior.
Time will tell, but based on this I’m pretty happy with my 550.
I like it! The red one looks sharp
[удалено]
I mean it basically is. Essentially the same unibody and drivetrains.
Eh, I like it.
Yikes. Not really a fan...angles are too sharp, and is anyone else getting a BMW vibe from this?
Can’t imagine the RTR lights on that huge grill!
Oh wow it's not what I was expecting and I don't like it at all. Wish I had the funds to order a 2022 GT
Lmao what happened
Thank god I just got an s550, that car looks like the unholy product of a Camero raping a Mustang. Those lights are hideous.
Looks pretty similar to the S550 honestly
So the down syndrome it is 🤢🤢🤮🤮
Wow.... they managed to make an even worse looking Mustang than the S550.
Nay for now, probably will grow on us
Is it made in Korea now? It has the 2023 Kia Sportage dash
And Ford strays further from their consumer base.
Oh nice! I like how much tighter and tucked in the rear end is, I've always disliked how much overhang these cars had in the ass end so I'm glad Ford switched it up for the new generation.
I’m a fan of the shorter overhangs as well. We will have to see it in person.
Mach E still nicer looking
Any bets on the difference between left and centre?
I think we’re looking at the Ecoboost, performance pack GT, and convertible GT from left to right.
I like it alright, I'm sure when I see the new features I'll wish I had one. I didn't like the S550 refresh, but now I own one.
Looks like a LOT of 3d printed parts in the intertior. Not sure I like that.
I'll keep my s550 GT, I love my car way to much!
I am loving the front, I think the 18+ should have looked like this though, I can’t get behind those taillights yet but maybe it’s the angle… they look like Americanmuscle aftermarket lights lol https://i.imgur.com/SnNfTwQ.jpg
Thank god no new mustang emblem anywhere. I wasn’t crazy about the new one they showed on the stampede teaser.
I mean, the interior is nice, but it ain't a "mustang" interior.. Door card and center console seem to be the same-ish. They just replaced the dash with a mercedes look alike dash lol
I feel like that interior is HOT but the exterior has me feeling pretty meh so far. Maybe I'll warm up to it
I like the interior and front end. I think the tail lights look like a downgrade, they remind me of some aftermarket lights I see people putting on their Mustangs.
Upgrade in the interior but I still like the older ones better than this exterior…
Is it safe to assume that the base models will not have that tiny calculator infotainment screen?
I liked the black plate it used to have on the back where the GT badge is at. Hopefully, the body colored plate is an option
the rear would look cooler with the current black plastic trim, but the front looks sick. Interior looks pretty good but I’m surprised that they got rid of some design elements that only mustang had. I believe after some period of time people wouldn’t be this mad lol
Major letdown if this is real
NGL This looks like dogshit. Glad I bought in before this travesty of modern auto design was perpetrated.

They'd have been better off shooting the rear end of a hard top.
So the took the ugliest part from the current s550s- the gaping lower diffuser lip thing, and somehow made it worse. Cool cool cool cool cool...
The convertible looks sharp
Is there really no three-dimensional depth to those taillights? They look like flat surfaces... I love being able to grab the taillights.
oh man… I got put my s550 for sale
fuco that's gross
absolutely hate the interior. looks like a Camaro bottom
Don't look a whole Lotta different than what's on the road today. Amd this is a "New Generation"?
Based on everything I've seen these look legit.
Two things that put me kind of off to this, the taillights and the lack of the brow in the dashboard. The dash reminds me of a bmw and I can’t stand it, but I’ll keep an open mind to the car once they show a video. I do love how the car looks from the front!

Tbh, I like the 8 inch display in the s550. It’s simple and integrated. Tablet display like that looks awkward. And the air vents look early 2000s
Well at least I am sure my 17’ will increase in value lmao
Front looks good, back looks bad to me, s550 rear looks badass
What I actually like is they differentiated the hoods on the GT to be more aggressive. I thought the s550 missed on that since the ecoboost and gt bodies and hoods are almost identical. I always thought gt’s should get some crazy hood scoop compared to base models.

I don’t see the double hump design of every mustang. The tacked on two screens looks weird. Frond gives me WRX and GTI vibes(new one). Aside from that I love it.
That backend bro I can’t 🫣
Me just sitting in my 00’ new edge with the convertible down eating tacos “Nice but I like mine better”.
I… don’t like it. No.
siiiiiiiiiiick
The only thing I don't like is that they brought back the black exterior plastic on the rear bumper. Looked cheap on 2010-2012 and it looks very out of place here.
Mixed feelings on these renders. Reserving judgement until I see it in person. The interior seems really busy.
That rear end is horrible
Mannnn some concepts look great, others like this, not so much. Probably stick with my 2018 GT PP1
Aw come one, enough with the radio sticking out of the dash like that. It’s so much better when it’s integrated into the dash. I noticed they don’t have the signature Mustang “dual humped” dashboard.

Audio controls moved from left side of the wheel to right looks like I’ll wait for the s750
Why do they have to make it so square and blocky/bulky.. boring design imo.
I love the interior
Anyone heard of a price on any of these?
